Gunton Arms

"This charming inn overlooks the 1,000 acre Gunton Estate deer park. Enjoy a tasty homemade snack over a game of pool or darts in the bar or make for a gnarled wood table by the fireplace in the flag-floored Elk Room. Dishes are fiercely seasonal; some – such as the Aberdeen Angus steaks – are cooked over the fire. Well-equipped bedrooms have a stylish country house feel." - Michelin Inspector

The Gunton Arms is a truly unique and unforgettable destination. From the moment you arrive, you’re transported to a world of exceptional food, stunning art, and incredible atmosphere. The setting in the middle of a sprawling deer park is simply magical. Beyond the fantastic food, the pub itself is a work of art, with a roaring fire, quirky decor, and a collection of stunning pieces on the walls. The service is always friendly and welcoming. It's the perfect place for a special occasion or a cozy country escape.

One of the best pubs in Norwich said a resident in Norwich of this hotel/pub/restaurant, which is over 20 miles away from Norwich. This is a measure of the quality and catchment area of this place. ||Tucked away from the main road it feels more like you are entering an estate for a walk rather than a fabulous pub/restaurant. The restaurant gets busy so book ahead or turn up for the bar menu if not. The minute you enter the building you feel the quality from the professionalism of the staff, to the large open fire for some of the cooking, this is a bit different.||The food is excellent, fresh and tasty and remarkably good value given the quality and location. This is worth going out of your way for.

Exceptional as ever! The food was just perfect, buzzy atmosphere and fantastic service. This has always been my favourite restaurant and go-to for special occasions (and still is!) particularly as we can bring our dog with us. It was incredibly hot the day we visited, however, it was lovely and cool inside and we then had the opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine outside in sunshine enjoying the views after our meal. Always a fabulous experience and already looking forward to my next visit!

I’ve never walked into a pub/restaurant on a Monday lunchtime to be greeted with packed dining rooms! A great atmosphere and brilliant decoration. The food was outstanding, wonderful starter of fried hens egg and shrimp, then the main event of bbq braised beef. Wonderful staff and atmosphere.

Absolutely beautiful location - possibly one of the best for a pub in the UK. The garden and interior are idyllic - and it’s got a great vibe. However I’ve been here twice for dinner and the meal each time has been disappointing. This time, we ordered the steak (which is £48) and after them suggesting they serve it medium-rare, it was overcooked (more well-done) and wasn’t seasoned / charred. The accompanying veg (peas and potatoes) were quite bland too, but the chicken pie was good and the cod cheeks were very good. We told the waiter about the disappointing steak, and he said he’d feed back to the chefs, however, despite this they didn’t comp anything on the bill. Would probably recommend coming here for drinks and bar snacks, rather than a meal.

The Gunton Arms is set just within Gunton estate. There are deer roaming nearby on the estate. The pub itself is extensive inside and hosts an open fire where various meats are cooked. There is also plenty of seafood on the menu and a dedicated vegan/vegetarian menu if you request. There is also an extensive wine menu. Service was great and of course so was the food. All in all, very happy.

We had a most satisfying dinner here. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and you dine near a huge fireplace where you can watch the chef prepare the meats. We enjoyed great drinks and a fun and friendly wait staff. Our salted beef was tender and tasty!

Treated by great friends for lunch. Fabulous place, although not all the art work was to my taste but great to see. Although a small menu it was hard to choose as I could have eaten all. Great to see the steaks being cooked . Service was brilliant, staff knowledgeable and quick, explained ingredients. Left happy and complete. Would go again. Soon. Ps chairs need a cushion 😄

Yelp
From the drive in through an impressive entrance, to the beauty of the building, its decor and its art collection, this place is an absolute treat from start to finish. Great food from the kitchen - baked herbed scallops and brioche crab cakes were superb - to a very pleasant front of house team, this is a destination venue, so do yourself a favour, book a room and stay a while. The installation art nestled in the many acres of deer park will give you the opportunity to explore and burn off a few calories! And if it's chilly outside, open fires and a pool table offer the perfect setting to while away the hours, or simply muse over their magnificent art collection. Bravo The Gunton Arms

Yelp
Popped in for a cocktail and was impressed by the ultra cool decor. Kind of Downton Abbey meets Beetlejuice. It was around six p.m. and half of the dining tables were full. The bar was packed so I asked a waiter if we could down our cocktails at a table. His response: "We're fully booked tonight. The bar is as big as it is. We can't fit any more tables." Absolutely aghast, I finished my cocktail and went back to the car thinking how sad it was that I wouldn't be trying their menu. I would expect a snotty attitude from a thick glasses wearing hipster in New York, but I was surprised to find it in Norwich. Not recommended.

Yelp
Really nice pub in an amazing location. Considering it was reasonably busy for a Thursday lunch would definitely recommend booking in advance.

Yelp
This is a great pub / restaurant / bed & breakfast. Located just off the main road and inside a vast deer park, it's totally dog friendly, has a great atmosphere and, above all, does fantastic food. We had venison saugages w/mash & gravy and venison liver with cream & mustard sauce plus new potatoes. All perfect - and partially cooked on the open fire in the main room right in front of us. Plus a glass of super wine and some soft drinks = £40.50. Only hitch was somewhat shambolic service (it took 3 reminders to get the mineral water). Defo go there again.

Yelp
The smell walking up to this beautiful little inn is so enticing. You feel like you are entering a time past. Food is amazing and the fire pit in the dining room where they do the cooking is a lovely feature. Art is pretty exciting so keep your eyes pealed. Make a reservation if you want to eat there as it's usually booked up.
