Outstanding Egg Tarts Galore in Chinatown — and Other Cheap Eats | Eater NY

"Specializing in well-stuffed gyro sandwiches on pitas cooked in a flaming oven behind the counter, this Midtown chainlet serves gyros for less than $10; meats include chicken, pork, and a beef-lamb combo, and the slightly fattier pork is the best. The sandwiches are rolled for easy eating and topped with lettuce, tomato, raw onion, and a choice of three yogurt tsatsikis, one laced with habanero peppers. For an extra charge fries can be added to make a platter, and kebabs or meatballs can be substituted for gyro for a couple of dollars more; the roomy dining room, frozen Greek yogurt, and full-meal salads are also worth trying." - Robert Sietsema

This is now my breakfast AND lunch place. Not only is the food delicious, clean, healthy, but the team that works there is phenomenal as well; incredibly friendly and accommodating. Grateful that they exist!

We had an amazing experience here! The management team and staff are fantastic to work with. They catered a delicious lunch for our crew and clients. The process for creating the large order was seamless and the manager was incredibly helpful. We will definitely be back and any time I have projects in Manhattan, I'll be reaching out to them for catering!

Delicious! I got a pita with beef and lamb. I added spicy feta dip and hot harissa. It was amazing!! Service was great! I recommend getting the espa Lemonade to go with it. So refreshing, will be coming back!

Google
Amazing gyro, I did the mix of chicken and beef & lamb. I ask them to add on Hot Harissa. It was my favorite. I also love their froyo, I got the deconstructed bakalva. Yummy!! Will be coming back, way to go.

Really love this spot. I’m a big fan of their Greek yogurt, always super fresh and hits the spot every time. Maria is always so friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better.

I’ve tried both the Fort Lee and Midtown locations, and the quality isn’t quite the same. Fort Lee truly meets the standard for good Greek street food — I especially recommend the chicken gyro, which is noticeably less oily and greasy. This place has potential, but some improvements are needed. Thank you.

So happy this location opened!! Food is so fresh and delicious. Ordered a make your own bowl with chicken gyro along with lemon potatoes and Greek croquettes and all so good. Ended with the froyo because it’s some of the best frozen greek yogurts you can get! Also the manager George was very nice and continuously checked on us and even brought us a mini different flavor of the yogurt to try.

Yelp
Great lamb and beef gyro for a solid price. Satisfied and surprised how fresh the tzatziki was. Easily one of my favorite blends I've had in a while. Bonus points for the team inviting us to sample a sauce or two we may not have had before! 8.5/10

Yelp
Coworker suggested we try this place for lunch and we were both pleasantly surprised. While not cheap, the cost is on pair for a midtown "bowl/wrap" lunch and the quality was higher than other places. I got half size of the chicken club entree and it was two large sandwich wedges that could easily be full-size. The fries could have been crisper but nicely seasoned. His salmon entree was similarly large portioned and the same issue where the lemon potatoes could have been more roasted. The seating area is small but adequate. The Greek salt and olive oil cruets are nice touches. We'd both go back for the make your own options and try the fro-yo.

Yelp
We were a bit disappointed by our experience with The Gyro Project on the east side. The ingredients in the dishes didn't seem to meld super well, and felt a bit wet and not cohesive. The chicken was unfortunately a bit dry as well. Maybe we had it at an off time, but based on that experience I would not return.

Yelp
I picked up lunch from this restaurant twice this month and I really like it. I had the vegetarian bowl both times and it was delicious. I also really love that this restaurant uses olive oil exclusively! Two reasons this place doesn't get 5 stars: the music is so loud that you have to yell your order over the glass partition to be heard. Also, the lemon potatoes are unevenly cooked and sometimes are too raw to eat. Aside from those small details I really love this place and highly recommend it!

Yelp
This is a review for the froyo only: I absolutely love the froyo at the upper westside Gyro Project, it's actually my favorite in the city. But I was extremely disappointed by the difference between the east side locations froyo and the west side's. Every time I've been to The Gyro Project on the upper west side, the froyo has been creamy, smooth and a bright white. It was instantly apparent the upper east side's version was a stark comparison - it was icy, watery, a yellowish off white color and lacking the quality that I've come to know at the upper west side location. Such a let down, both establishments are less than a mile apart, but they have drastically different froyo experiences. Don't come here if you're looking for froyo, do yourself a favor and go to the upper west side location, it's truly worth the trek!

Yelp
I will start by saying that, I came to this place searching for better options in the area. The decor inside looks great and the store is pristine and organized perfectly. I was greeted immediately and the team asked for any questions, I order the chicken gyro and an orange cake. Food was fresh and packed with flavors. Not your traditional gyro place, instead a better place that as a New Yorker I didint know we need it.

Yelp
Had a lovely dinner last night at this new restaurant. I had a vegetarian bowl and it was delicious. What stood out the most, unlike other new similar restaurants, is that the individual ingredients stood out all on their own. For example, the lemon potatoes were perfectly tender with just the right amount of lemon. The giant beans also had a nice texture. The falafel, which I had baked instead of fried, was very satisfying . My favorite was the tzatziki sauce. It was really thick and tasted amazing with the warm pita. Also, nothing was overly salty, which was a welcome distinction. All in all, a great meal and a heck of a bargain for only $15. George and the rest of the crew were very pleasant. I almost want to go over now and grab a side of beans and tzatziki. Hmmmm.

Yelp
A new local favorite for us! They also have the best frozen yogurt! The service is great - they are all always so nice and double check my order - when I came home and realized my meal was missing my protein they quickly found someone to remedy the situation and delivered a makeup and more!! Great food and great service what more could you want

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in NYC, hands down. I work near here and come basically every day. Maria and Ignacio treat me like family. The food is as good as a sit-down restaurant (arguably better) but as fast as a Cava (so much better than Cava). Seed-oil free and fry with Zero Acre Farm oils. Fast quality at its finest. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We just happened to walk past here and decided to try it. The manager helped us and he was awesome. Such a great attitude and he was attentive throughout us sitting there to eat. The gyro was awesome and so was the frozen yogurt.
