The Hairy Lemon

I liked the hearty chicken wings. Very meaty. Nachos were good too. I like the guacamole. Big portion. They are generous with the portion. Nice thick slices of jalapeños. Mozzarella sticks delicious.

The presentation of the dishes was appealing, but the overall experience was underwhelming due to issues with flavor and balance. The soft pretzel arrived warm and had a pleasantly fluffy interior, but it was excessively coated in coarse salt. While the texture was on point, the saltiness completely overpowered the dough’s subtle, comforting flavor. A lighter hand with the seasoning would have made this a much more enjoyable appetizer. The nachos were a mixed experience. The toppings guacamole, grilled chicken, jalapeños, pico de gallo, and sour cream were fresh and well-proportioned, but the tortilla chips themselves were flavorless and lacked any crunch or seasoning. The blandness of the chips made the entire dish fall flat, despite the effort put into the toppings. Lastly, the Bloody Mary I ordered was disappointing it tasted like it was made entirely of mixer with little to no detectable alcohol. It lacked the kick and complexity you’d expect from a proper cocktail, leaving it feeling watered down and uninspired. Overall, while the menu items had potential and looked inviting, the execution left a lot to be desired. A few adjustments in seasoning and drink preparation could greatly improve the dining experience.

Excellent service, vibe, food, drinks, etc. I was there for the Bills Broncos playoff game and it was a great time. The manager Glyn is awesome as he helped me sort out an issue I had with a bill. 10/10 recommend and I will be returning soon!

This is our go to bar for football Sundays and honestly any other day. We absolutely love the staff (Glen is the man) the wings are AMAZING!! I also had my birthday party here in the side room and what a perfect little space that was they took care of us really well that night. If you're looking for a load back sports pub with friendly people this is the spot!!

I went there yesterday on NYE. The bouncer was mad aggressive and was yelling at me and my friends (also insulted me and misgendered me) because I came outside with WATER. We tried to explain that to him and that if he communicated that with me before i went outside, I couldn’t hear him because the music was loud and I’m hard of hearing, but he wouldn’t stop yelling at us both inside and outside the establishment; All of this happened 5 minutes before the ball dropped too, mind you. I will not be recommending this to anyone i know, let alone any minorities since you only receive a good treatment only if you are a white man. 👍🏽

I had a really negative experience with the bouncer on trivia night. My coworkers and I came for trivia night, and the girls were let in without checking IDs. The bouncer physically held me back as I entered and only asked me, the oldest in the group, for my ID. I gave him my state ID, which he insisted was fake. I'm 27, it's been years since something like this happened. I offered to show alternative forms of identification, and he snapped at me for arguing with him. I'm a little perplexed why a *trivia* night needed a bouncer this aggressive. We didn't know beforehand that we needed to buy advance tickets to get a table to sit at for trivia, so we decided to go elsewhere. That being said, we've been looking for a new place to play trivia and would've purchased tickets next time if not for this experience.

Surprisingly good little drinking establishment. The name is deceptive as it makes it seem more like a club or rough bar, but it's more comparable to a sports pub. Signs in the bathroom advertise Aussie Rules and the flags above the bar and over the ceiling are from all over the globe. From the outside it might feel like an Irish bar, but it's for more going on than that. A side room contains some bar games (Giant Connect 4 and some old arcade games) plus there's a pool table in the main space. Happy hour prices are reasonable and the bar staff were very welcoming.

It's a very nice mellow place where everyone is just enjoying themselves in a great atmosphere!!! The wings are amazing and I think everyone should know about them, delicious!!!

The bouncer claimed my and my friend's IDs were fake and used extremely derogatory language to me and told us to leave. We grabbed two police officers to just confirm they were real, not to argue entry and he told us to fucking leave again. Complete high horse assholes here. Don't come

Okay - truth be told.. i've avoided this place because of the name. HOWEVER, recently i learned it's a famous pub in Dublin and also did some research on why the hell (am i allowed to say hell on here?) it's called that. Turns out it's bc there was a dude who looked like a hairy lemon? Dope! Anyways safe to say I had a great experience here. I didn't want to give it 5 stars but... I just had to! We went to Thursday night trivia here (which books up FAST - you have to make a reservation. Hot place for trivia) and I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. It's far cozier and more homey than I was expecting. We snacked on some french fries, which were great, and some mozzarella sticks which were definitely better than subpar. I had a good ole guinness (had to commit to the dublin theme) and a diet coke, both fire and hard to go wrong. (their syrup to club soda ratio was ALMOST perfect...) Service was very friendly. Also shout out to Trivia Joe - that guy is AWESOME.

Hate to give this review because our server was really nice, food was great, good drinks! However me and 2 friends came in and were sat at the smallest table. I asked if we can have one of the many available tables that were much bigger. A man who I will assume is the manager said that those are for groups of 4 or more. And you guessed it! A table of 2 men with a much lighter complexion to say the least sat there for the whole night, without disruption from the manager.

I realize this is like a local institution with a fan following for many people. It might be fine for those in their early 20s to watch the Penn State game... In the grand scheme of things, this place is: - Crazy crowded (always) - you need to make reservations for trivia - Okay food (but just okay) - Lots of sticky things (I realize that is character for some) - Lots of really loud talkers (like beyond the New York average) This great for: - Watching Penn State games - Going to places where you struggle to walk around - Low cost decent food - Getting feel of sticky character - Groups of 4 or so Bad for: - Any date earlier than date #10 - Breakups (its hard to get out) - People who like quiet places - People afraid of small spaces

Came here for Thursday night trivia at 8pm. Would recommend making a reservation - I saw people being turned away at the door around 7:45 even though the place was pretty empty. It quickly filled up though and trivia started around 8:15. This was really efficient trivia. Everything was done online, with one team member using their phone to answer questions and scoring being done automatically. For 6 rounds, each of about 8 questions, the whole thing took maybe 2 hours. The questions were good and reasonably hard (my team probably got around 70% right) and the host was nice and engaging. There are plenty of draft beers to choose from. The food options are pricey but nothing special. My group ordered fries and they were fine. The vibe of the bar is divey and pretty generic, but not sure if it's different when it's not trivia night.

Great sport bar! I came here for the World Cup 2022 and it was wild. By that I mean it was crowded, full of people screaming, and there was just an overall excitement. They offer a wide selection of draft and bottled beer, cider, wine and spirits. The Hairy Lemon also make sure to show all sort of major sport events. The bar has multiple TVs everywhere. They serve typical American bar food, although there are some dishes with a European twist. I ordered the bratwurst sandwich -- pork brat, caramelized onions, peppers, spicy mustard on a hoagie roll. I really enjoyed it. Moreover, service was quick even with a crowded pub!

Used to love this bar. Then they decided to turn it into an Eagles bar because the Irish management doesn't understand it's the equivalent of opening up an English football team bar in Dublin. Dense people.

Dropped by midday with a few friends on Saturday. Packed for midday. Able to snag a high top. Plenty of TVs for games, no music except background noise and banter. Bar is good prices. Service is exceptional. Didn't try the food as we came after brunch. I'd come here for a pregame for sure.

Hey Ryan W...Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your experience at the Hairy Lemon NYC! I've had some amazing times there, and it's one of my favorite spots to catch Penn State and Philadelphia Eagles games. And you couldn't be more wrong about Ireland. I too was at the Hairy Lemon this past Sunday. In Dublin, the atmosphere was electric--Manchester United vs. Arsenal with sound, followed by the Eagles game. It's the kind of energy I look forward to at the NYC location too. The staff and management at the NYC bar are fantastic at creating a fun game-day vibe, especially for Penn State &/or Eagles fans like me. Hopefully, your next visit is better(but assuming your a Giants fan, it could be a while), But if you're there when the Eagles take on the Rams, I'd love to buy you a drink. FLY EAGLES FLY!

Phenomenal service despite being crazy busy. Within seconds of sitting down, the bartender handed us menus and took our order. Think dive sports bar. Only had beer on tap. Lots of tvs and different games. Don't plan on listening as they pumped music loud. Packed at 2 pm. on a Saturday. Mostly young 20s crowd. Everyone was nice. Guinness was about $9 a glass.

Went back recently and it's even better than it was last time. Irish-inspired pub with pool table. Generous drinks and comfort food. Nice wholesome crowd except for me. Young to middle age patrons except for me. Amateur pool players except for me. Ask for owner Glenn, salt of the earth, Eire-man engineer (not train). Aad for the story of how I won four grand on NCAA championship at another place because of a foul call as time ran out. At Glenn's expense, I might add, which included an undeserved free drink, which I graciously accepted. You can also ask about six for five in 1950s Boston. Whitey Bulger made a fortune off it. My bookie dad, too, but he dumbly gambled his earnings. Some people never learn. Sorry dad (but I love you like forever. nonetheless).

All five stars strictly for the wings and beer selection coupled with many, large TVs. These aren't your backyard chicken wings, these babies are thickk with two ks! Friendly energy from the staff in a classic sportsbar environment.

Great Padres bar! Plays game audio and supports San Diego Padres Fans in NYC! Bar management is very kind and supportive of Padres fans in the city, it has become our local meet up spot for the games!

Nothing bad to really say about this place, just not super memorable either. Came here to watch the playoffs, friendly bartenders/staff. Drinks reasonably priced. Good crowd.

One of the great bars in East Village / LES. I especially enjoyed the banter and service of the main barman with a pen behind his ear and forearm tattoo. Put on any sport we wanted including women's basketball.

Came here last week for Philadelphia Eagles game... great atmosphere, awesome wings and the cheese steak is legit!!! GO BIRDS!!

First of all, lemme start off with a confession: I'm not in NY often so didn't even take the time to think that an Irish pub here would be any different from an Irish pub in say Memphis lol. Me and my boy just needed a spot to catch the Conor McGREGOR fight lol. Nah, these dudes were Irish Irish. Authentic. Thick accents and all. Not some hipsters from Wisconsin who just like fish n' chips. I think that's dope lol. The energy in there for the fight was bananas. And every single one of the servers and bartenders was super cool and courteous, starting with the doorman. And even though it was super packed in there, service wasn't lacking at all. We were impressed by how hard they were working to make sure patrons weren't waiting. I'd go back.

Had a wonderful experience at the Hairy Lemon Pub! Called in to ask if they were playing the UFC fight and the gentleman confirmed that he would be willing to play it (after we called at least 10 bars who declined). Came in and he confirmed he put the fight on in the back room. When others heard the fight, they came to the back to join and it turned into a mini watch party. The owner was very kind and welcoming and turned the volume up for us. The service was prompt and the food was delicious. Will definitely be back!

I absolutely love this place!! They're always on point with sports and have more TVs than you need, wherever you're sitting you'll catch the game comfortably. The food is kinda pricey but their alcohol is fairly priced. My favorite part is the team. Beyond friendly and super quick. Def my go to sports bar in East Village.

Would give negative stars if I could. Bartender rolled his eyes at me when I was ordering shots for my friends and scoffed. And I tried asking for water because another bartender( he was nice) asked if he could get us anything. The first bartender was getting our drinks and I thought it would be okay to ask the other bartender for a water. The first bartender then looked at me and said "what the f*ck, what do you want?". At first I wanted to deescalate the situation and explain myself but he treated no one else in the bar that way so I walked out. Also one note my friends and I are all Indian and he was the white bald bartender. Absolutely rude and racist. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

I came here for trivia on Thursday night at 8pm ($20 minimum order). You will need to make a reservation by calling because they're always booked, you can wait outside and hope they'll be last minute cancellations. There was something off about the soda machine. I got ginger ale and coke and they both tasted too syrupy, I didn't think soda could be messed up. I will say trivia night was really fun and I'd be curious to check this out on another night.

Came in with a big group when no one else was around and asked for one TV facing our table to play the NCAA women's game. They put the game on the corner most TV where no one could see. When we asked to change it to the one TV facing only our table the waiter was incredibly rude, condescending and downright misogynistic. Will not be returning. The man had a pen behind his ear and a forearm tattoo. This is also not the first time he's been rude to women either.

I came in for the women's college basketball a few weeks ago and it was incredible. better than Lego... it's what sports bars should be, we had a waiter with an arm tattoo and a pen behind his ear who was super welcoming and friendly

Came here with friends to watch a college football game and spent 30 mins on bathroom line Drinks barely contained alcohol and was $16 for a plastic cup of cocktail. Wouldn't come back

Stopped by about a week ago a few minutes before the kitchen closing and they totally still let us order food. Thank you! We were not disappointed with the lemon pepper and mango habanero wings. So delicious! The bartender Michael was awesome!

Best place ever especially if jagger loses thank you. Best drinks best staff. A must hit for sports games

Hello Hairy Lemon buh-bye Croxley's! Fear not the wings are good if not better than the predecessor. Relaxed English/Irish pub atmosphere and menu (yup there's curry on the menu) and thankfully still a good old neighborhood sports bar. They opened the space up a bit, put in more streamlined looking hightop tables and stools, and abundant flat screens, as every good sports bar should have. Wings are excellent. 10 wings runs ya $12 and 20 wings $20. Nachos a giant pile of goodness - the carnitas on there nom nom, fish tacos excellent- big pieces of beer battered flaky fish. Weekends can get crowded especially when games are on. A fun place to take in some sports and spirits with your pals. Good beer selection on tap and bottles. Note to the ladies... this is a dude bar, male to female ratio is on your favor !

Solid sports bars are hard to find in this area but this place is the perfect spot to watch a game. Good service, long beer list, and (most importantly) great wings! Came here to watch football on a Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised they had every game on somewhere in the bar and plenty of seating so chances were good you could find a spot near the TV you needed to watch. Only slightly annoying thing was that they couldn't move games around to different TVs, so even if you get there early to make sure your game gets put on the screen near your table it won't matter. But again, this wasn't a huge issue. In terms of beer, the list was long and had quite a variety. Pretty standard sports bar costs (low). Again, the winner here was the wings. $20 gets you 20 wings, they have a few sauce options but get the hot wings obviously. Crispy. Spicy. Perfect. I miss them already. I'll be back for them soon.

Service is incredible. I go there for the UFC fights and it is always packed but the bartenders and staff and constantly looking into the crowd and making sure every last person looking towards the bar has a drink in hand. These guys hustle. Solid bar food. Recently I left my credit card and returned 5 days later to check if it was still there. One of the bartenders not only had my credit card for me but refused to accept the 20 dollar tip I handed to him. These are a bunch of hard working stand up guys making a neighborhood bar work....

They were very busy and we had to practically beg them to order our food and drink. The food was great but I'm not sure it was good enough to compensate for the terrible service. The drinks were mediocre.

Nyc trivia hosts here on Thursdays. Aka, do not come here on a Thursday. Find somewhere else to play trivia; this is way too crowded, at least 20 teams playing. The bar stopped taking food orders because the kitchen was so backed up... this happens every Thursday, how are they not more prepared? The one guy bartender was actually quite nice and addressing the busy crowd. The girl bartender was acting like it was a Tuesday afternoon. Just not a fun time when you can barely hear the trivia guy and you can't order any food. However, the nachos are BOMB so get those if you come here.

Think I found my new local. Came in on a cold night where all I wanted was a hot drink. Asked for a hot cider but the bartender suggested I try their speciality hot toddies!- amazing! - I probably drank about 4 of them. Then I realized they have about a million beer lines, being a beer buff, I was delighted with the selection of lines. To top it off they've so many tvs that'll cater to ever sport! Heaven! For food I had the "3 IN 1" again suggested by the staff: fries, rice and curry sauce - great to balance out all the beer and whiskey I just had.

I won't go here again. I went here on a trivia night last month, opened a tab, and got exactly four items for myself and my two companions over the course of a couple hours: a beer for one of us, a cocktail for each of the other two of us, and a lemonade for myself. I went to close my tab and got the attention of at least two different bartenders, each of whom seemed to entirely forget about closing it out and started taking other drink orders. After waiting for at least 10 minutes at a busy time and being ignored, I had to get going. I called two hours later to try again to close it, which I'd successfully done previously once when I truly had accidentally forgotten to close my tab there. Unfortunately, this time, the woman who answered the phone said she didn't see an open tab for me. There was nothing I could do at that point but wait to see the charge come through. Well, I've finally figured out what happened and why that was. A day or so later, a charge appeared on my card for about three times what I should have owed. I immediately filed a chargeback with my credit-card provider for the erroneous two-thirds of the charged amount. I found out yesterday it was denied. I guess that's because management provided an itemized receipt and a credit-card receipt. The provided materials were actually illuminating--and damning for the venue. Too bad I never had a chance to review the receipts until after the claim was denied. The itemized receipt shows the correct first two drinks, but complete nonsense from there: a duplicate of the second cocktail we got (same time stamp), no lemonade, and FOUR more drinks added to the tab--right before the tab was closed out, per the time stamps on the itemized receipt and credit-card receipt. This was done in my absence, well after I'd left, and whoever did it added a tip, not even close to my handwriting, with a squiggle of my initials as a supposed signature. I can't presume to know exactly what happened in my absence, right? My fault for stepping away? Maybe it was all accidentally added to my tab? Maybe so. I hope those two shots and two draft beers were worth it to someone. To reiterate, I won't go here again. I was ripped off for more than $50. In case it's relevant to any of your bartenders, here's a tip: Don't assume someone who tries and fails to close a tab when you ignore them is too drunk to remember the details of what actually happened. I had to leave because I was sick with a severe sinus infection (which was also why I couldn't yell over the crowd to get the bartenders' attention). I'm posting this in the hope that one way or another, this won't happen to any other patrons here.

Walked into the Hairy Lemon Pub on a Sunday and was seated quickly. Friends and I walked into the Hairy Lemon for a few drinks while we waited for our brunch table across the street. It was nice a few people inside surrounding the bar and a group playing Jenga. We ordered their quac and chips as an appetizer it was delicious.

I couldn't believe my luck when I found this place, great food and drinks with great service (except for Glen who's the second best bartender I've ever met). My kinda old school east village joint.....17 years NY experience talking!

GREAT spot! Plenty of tv screens facing the street so you can watch your game and socially distance. They looked after us very very well, and I encourage footie fans to watch their premier league matches here.

Good spot! Came for a Bama game, they put it on for us. Asked for game audio, they made it happen. 30 bucks for a bucket of 8 Bud Lights. It's a decent sports bar! Especially for the area. 5 stars, recommend.

Sorry but this place has bad food. I'm sure it's prepackaged frozen breaded chicken. It's no surprise but it's just not good. The beer is pricey. There are about 39 TV screens. If you are the type who goes to a bar to support your hometown sports games that's cool for you. It's not croxeleys so I resent them for not honoring the cheap wings. Also if you get drunk here Pleas do not go outside and blab full volume about whichever dumb sport you're into. You are loud and people live upstairs

This bar is my new favorite in the East Village. The bar is very clean and has great TV sightlines no matter your seat, plus they show all games. There is lots of seating and a good amount of space so you don't feel claustrophobic. It's honestly a great bar environment. My friend and I sat at the bar, and chatted with the very friendly bartender. He was really helpful about the menu (I ask a lot of questions before making my order). They have a great beer selection on tap, plus my burger was phenomenal. I ordered the ABC Burger with Tator Tots. It was delicious! I'm definitely coming back to try the Double Fire Burger!

A generic bar. The name is gross and corny. Croxley's was great - this is like the mall version. You could tell how out of place they are by their "Penn State" flag. F outta here with that, move it to the frat house.

Glenn, the bartender couldn't have been any nicer. That being said, I wouldn't feed the food to a dog. The wings were raw in the middle and the hot dogs were cold and looked like the were run over by a car. The menu was laminated to a worn table and illegible. Go there to drink. DO NOT EAT.

It's temporarily closed, but they have the BEST WINGS! Great place to watch sports, until it gets dangerously overcrowded and very hazardous to be in there. So we just leave then.

This place replaced Croxley's, darn it! I came here so skeptical because Croxley's had some pretty big shoes to fill, but the Hairy Lemon did not disappoint! Identical layout to the old Croxley's. Great service too. Came here for drinks with a group of friends last week, but will definitely be returning to try their wings. The bar has been set pretty high but I have a good feeling.
