Five New Menus to Try Right Now - Eater San Diego

"The Prospect Street eatery has added lunch and weekend brunch service. Chefs Diego Lopez (formerly of sea180º and Bleu Boheme) and Mickey Martinez (Juniper & Ivy, Stone Brewing), who oversee the seafood-based menu that draws influence from Mexico and the Mediterranean, have rolled out spring/summer dishes that include ceviche, jamon eggs Benedict, a grilled salmon sandwich, and Spanish octopus." - Candice Woo

We went here for our anniversary and or server, Nicole, was great. Great recommendations, and really knew the menu. Had a great view overlooking the cove.

Google
Beautiful views and great service. The food was fresh and tasty, but I don't think it lived up to it's price point. Still, it was a lovely dining experience.

Gavin Zau

Google
Great view of la Jolla cove. Good seafood with a local touch. Service is good too

Norma Hirsh

Google
Really great! Loved the ambience and decor as well as the food. It was a little too loud but we sat by the window so less of a distraction to our conversation. I had to settle into the menu choices; we ate mainly appetizers and other small dishes which provided a great and delicious variety. My husband loved his beer: Belgian white. We all devoured and enjoyed the desserts, too.

Google
Nice views and good service. Unfortunately we didn't have a table next to the windows as requested when we placed the reservation. Food was good and fresh although there wasn't a huge selection. It's tapas style in the sense that you're expected to share. That being said you could to with 1 starter and 2 mains. Mussels were really good and melted in your mouth.

Google
Great experience. Nicole took great care of us. She is super friendly & knowledgeable about the menu & the wine list. Food is very fresh & delicious. We highly recommend this place. It is tapas like, therefore, the plates are smaller. Expect to eat between 3-4 courses/each person. Great for people who appreciate great food. Thank you guys! Linda & Greg

Google
The fish is very good - plated nicely, with good accompaniments, and tasty. The chocolate mouse wasn't that great - the cake portion didn't really stick to the tart portion, and the tart wasn't easy to cut up. The plain water they gave us was nice - it was infused with cucumber. The service was overall good - fast and friendly, but the waiter kind of slowed down towards the end of our visit.

Google
Great bartenders that make the best drinks. They shared their knowledge about gin. The small plates menu is very interesting with unique selections. We especially enjoyed the octopus. We will definitely come again.

Yelp
At the rooftop bar, Ervin the bar tender is in my opinion one of the best bar tender in La Jolla. The man has encompassed everything a customer may want. Knowledgable in spirits, wine , and cocktails, plus his friendly service is a class act. Thank you Ervin for a wonderful experience to a person visiting from Napa. I would be coming to Geroges every visit to La Jolla thanks to my experience here by Ervin.

Yelp
Took my sister and her boyfriend to George's at the Cove for lunch before they left San Diego. It was Restaurant Week, so we all ordered from the special menu--two courses from appetizers, entrées, or desserts. The view was stunning as always--sparkling ocean, crashing waves, and even sea lions in the distance. Service was friendly, though they accidentally brought me the wrong sandwich. The server apologized multiple times, and since we were in a hurry, I just went with it. Ironically, it ended up being the best thing I ate. Unfortunately, the rest of the food was just okay--not bad, but not worth the price. The only dessert I enjoyed was the ice cream. That said, for the atmosphere alone, I'd still come back.

Yelp
We were hoping for a nice view overlooking the ocean as the sun set, accompanied with great food and service. Unfortunately, the weather was about 50F with a wind chill of Nebraska. They placed us about 10 feet away from the heat lamps. They provided blankets but that wasn't warm enough to enjoy the meal or the view. Weather isn't their fault, but they need more heat lamps or something. If you insist on paying Mastros prices for TGI Fridays level food, eat quickly because your chicken will turn into a popsicle in about 30 seconds. Yumm. We weren't the only ones getting frosty. The server was pretty friendly and professional until the food arrived. He came back to ask how it was and I told him that it was just ok. He offered something else but we were kind of full (and freezing) so we declined. He took the chicken away and removed it from the bill without really asking. After that, his attitude kinda changed and was somewhat unfriendly. This is more about the food. The portobello mushroom appetizer was just mediocre. There were small slices of mushroom and tons of shishto peppers. There was a small dabble of coconut curry "soup" at the bottom but overall it was kinda tasteless. The short ribs were ok. Probably the best thing we ordered. It was maybe 6oz of short ribs, a spoonful of mashed potatoes and 2 mini carrots for $37. It didn't have enough flavor for that price point. The airline chicken was pretty dry and bland. It came with a whole plate of beans. I will say the croutons were the highlight of this dish. I've had better chicken on an actual airline. But again, the waiter took it back and off the bill. I don't think I'm going back after this experience.

Yelp
I was recently here for lunch with a fairly large group. First, although we came for an early lunch, the parking situation was a challenge and we drove around in circles several times, before giving in and doing the $20 Valet so we didn't miss our reservation time. There are lots in the area but the price isn't always posted and some are very high. We sat outside and the view was nice on the upper level although it was overcast and very chilly. I don't like that the heat lamps are built into the ground and you can't move them closer, so they are pretty ineffective on a cold day. As far as the food, it was good, but can't say it was great or really wowed me. We shared the lobster roll, which was pretty pricey at $40, and although it was filled with a lot of lobster the flavor was lacking. I wouldn't order it again. We also had the mussels which I did enjoy and would recommend. I did have to ask for more bread though because they served out with the bread inside the same bowl and it was soggy from the sauce, which I do not like. Someone in our party ordered the cauliflower and really enjoyed it but I did not personally try it. For dessert we also tried the pear cobbler which I thought was very good, which is surprising because I don't usually like pears. I will say it was extremely small though, not what I expected as far as size. Overall I think the location is why the prices may be so high, and I honestly just don't think the taste justifies it. I didn't have a horrible experience, but just not a good enough one to go back for lunch anytime soon. I may consider giving their dinner a try, but I imagine the parking situation may be worse at that time.

Yelp
Used valet parking since parking is practically non existent in the area, polite valets, quick and efficient. First time at George's at the Cove (for me). We decided to have lunch on the rooftop terrace. Elise was our server, polite and friendly throughout our visit. I decided on Caesar salad and mussels. My Bestie had the fried shrimp and a Caesar salad. We also ordered Evian, Diet Coke, and sparkling wine with cranberry, all refreshing! My mussels were delicious, flavorful and cooked nicely, perfect! The Caesar salad was mouthwatering and the croutons were homemade, gave it that little extra crunch, nice touch. My friend ate all of her food and said everything was very good. The view was spectacular and we had a beautiful day to relax and enjoy our lunch. I'll definitely be back!!

Yelp
I celebrated the first day of 2025 and my birthday at the iconic George's at the Cove. My friends and I were seated on the second level terrace and had a beautiful view of La Jolla Shores. There was an overcast and it was a bit chilly during the first part of our lunch so our server provided blankets for us to keep warm. There were heat lamps, but it wasn't enough, so thankfully the restaurant was prepared with blankets! I had a slice of the focaccia bread with hot honey and whipped butter, which was delicious. For my entrée, I opted for the roasted cauliflower, starting off my new year on a healthy note. It was incredibly tasty and I enjoyed it very much! If you like cauliflower, I highly recommend this dish! Our server brought out a slice of chocolate mousse cake with a candle to celebrate my birthday, which was a nice touch to a lovely lunch. We all enjoyed our food and appreciated our thoughtful server. If you plan to dine in here, I suggest you make a reservation like we did, otherwise the line could be incredibly long.

Yelp
Amazing view and great food. I love the place and I would love to try more of their food next time.

Yelp
My stock broker at Wells Fargo Advisory down the street, takes me out to lunch couple times a year, because I am a senior lady with no family or people who would treat me for my birthday, or take me to a nice place to eat. Alone is all I know. We picked this place because I don't go to places that we could sit outside and have food as expensive as Georges, at least for meeeeee. It is hard to even find a sunny day with blue skies in La Jolla to even sit outside. This day was overcast, but not so much as usual. The sun was trying to peep through. We made reservations. I do not get to chose which table I want in making reservations but they assure me a table on the patio. Turns out we got a table for two by the railing, so I was happy. I already knew what I wanted to order, having looked at the lunch menu. I wanted Lobster Roll, which cost $40. I also picked a virgin drink, for $12. I never spend that kind of money on myself, but he makes 1% of my entire portfolio, not just the profit, so he can spend $52 on me. I forgot to take a picture of my lobster roll as it was presented, DARN! Here is a picture partially eaten. I had already pushed the lobster salad down into the bread, when it was served piled up on top of the bread. The lobster roll taste was far less exciting than the lobster roll across the street at Lobster West. George's Lobster Roll is actually finely chopped Maine Lobster meat, mixed with other salad and dressing. It is a SALAD, not chunks of lobster meat that you put into bread, like across the street at Lobster West. But when I called, I asked what kind of lobster it was (rock lobster or Baja lobsters, no good, only Maine lobster is good), and how many ozs of meat was in the roll. I was told 6 oz. I could not taste the lobster in the lobster roll as I could across the street at Lobster West, to die for. I think I could make a sandwich taste just as good as this George's one, just by using imitation crab or shrimp. Robert got 2 fish tacos for $19. So I am rating my experience here 3 stars. Now we can't wait to go and eat lobster roll across the street. We ended up across the street that time, because when he took me out for patio ocean view lunch before, we didn't make reservations at La Valencia or Georges, and the wait was 1 hour, and so I wanted to try Lobster West. I am so glad we did. I would rather spend his money at Lobster West and sit outside on the street, than pay more for Georges food with the ocean view.

Yelp
Perfect place for dinner with my girls. Only bummer was we couldn't see the ocean in the dark. But we could hear the seals which was cute. Complete outside seating with heaters and they also provide blankets if you're cold. Very nice! Our server was so very friendly and made awesome suggestions. I ordered short rib that was so delicious. Tender meat with gravy on top of mashed potatoes with garnishing. Just the right portion and I was full after. The next time I visit my bff in SD, I will make sure to come here during the day for the views and great food.

Yelp
I used to give it a 4 star rating. Im switching to a 5 star ! The food is really good and their homemade potato chips. Oh my!

Yelp
(3.5 out of 5) The food here is good, a 6/10 in my opinion, amazing ambiance. Breathtaking views. The food would be higher if it was somewhere else, the service was good. There's just so many better restaurants in the area, we came in the middle of summer, when the reasturant had a big wait, we got sat here right away and we were the only people in the restaurant. Still very slow. When you go tell them Rothyy sent you!

Yelp
The tacos were okay. They were very soggy at the bottom and the tortilla was breaking. It was pretty on the upper deck and had a great view. The service was great. Our waitress was extremely kind and helpful with our part of 8. It was very cold but they offered us blankets so be prepared with a jacket.

Yelp
We visited George's at the Cove on a Saturday night around 8:00 p.m. and valet parked for about $15. The atmosphere was quite chilly, with only a few heaters, but not one for each individual table, which was a little uncomfortable. The ocean scent was strong and seemed to overpower the smell of the food. For appetizers, we ordered French fries, focaccia bread, and shrimp. The French fries were perfect, crispy, and well-seasoned, but the focaccia bread didn't feel like traditional focaccia. The shrimp also disappointed--they tasted like frozen shrimp tossed into a fryer. We didn't stay for dinner as we found the menu too limited, especially for side options, though we understand it's focused on seafood. In hindsight, the lunch menu sounded more appealing than the dinner offerings.

Yelp
Had one of the most delicious meals here that I have had out in a while. Highly recommend making a reservation and requesting a good view as we did not do either and were seated closer to the bar bother from the Oceanside dining tables. Highly recommend the Spicy Tubetti it was citrusy and spicy packed with flavor. Highly recommend you to stop in if you find yourself in the area!

Yelp
Georges at the Cove is a must-try if you get to be seated outside, on the second floor and able to catch amazing sunset views. I booked exactly for this reason for my mom and I on our mother-daughter trip to San Diego. Unfortunately, we didn't catch a very good sunset. The food was just okay. My salmon was very salty. The service was pretty good, our waitress was friendly and we didn't feel too rushed or pressured to order quickly. I wouldn't come back for dinner simply because I didn't find the food particularly appealing and the place a bit overhyped. But I'd be back to enjoy a drink and maybe HOPEFULLY the sunset.

Yelp
Best mussels in the US. The view was beautiful. The sauce in the mussels were so good!! Clams are delicious too

Yelp
I really enjoyed my meal here. Was kinda worried as some reviews state the food is mediocre for the price and it's really about the view. However being born and raised in Oceanside I didn't feel the view was anything spectacular. Anyways we been wanting to try it for restaurant week for a while and my son chose it to celebrate his birthday as a late celebration as his actual birthday plans became a nightmare and terrible day. Between the 3 of us we tried many things. I had the crispy shrimp, son has the focaccia and my husband had the Caesar salad. The crispy shrimp was really good. I was hoping it would be but the description just has me envisioning a tackle box from Popeyes with a preservative heavy sauce however I the sauce was obviously housemade. The shrimp was also great because I usually don't eat breaded/fried shrimp however it wasn't greasy or heavy at all. The focaccia was surprisingly delicious. Caesar salad had the best croutons I've ever tasted. I think Caesar can usually be pretty basic but I would totally order that and the other apps if I come back. Entrees I had the salmon, son had short ribs and husband had the flat iron. I loved my entree. I wish the tzatziki had come on the side because I took half home and seems weird to reheat that particular sauce plus I could have used more than was given. The couscous and squash was also tasty. Actually sounded really healthy and I wasn't sure what to expect but I think my dish was the best of the table. The short ribs was ok the flat iron had a mustardy almost tasting sauce and onions accompanying it had great flavor. Dessert we had the crème brûlée, chocolate cremeux and toffee cake. The waiter also brought out a little mousse cake for my sons. Birthday which was really sweet. (A little embarrassed I went to the bathroom while my husband tipped because we should have left more) the toffee cake could have been stickier but overall very scrumptious. The crème brûlée was also unique with Thai tea flavor and I love that it came with a sugar cookie for more texture. Chocolate cremeux was good. Not a big chocolate fan but the mousse cake for the birthday was yummmy. Do not get the South Pacific. It has a basil-mango shrub and I didn't realize shrub was actually gonna taste like a plant. The iced tea however has a nice slight tropical flavor so I do recommend that. Overall I would be back for a special occasion cuz it is pretty pricey but the restaurant week deal was pretty good to save about $10 as everything seemed full size

Yelp
Outstanding food and drink (per usual), with a world class view of the cove (and a hazy sunset) along the glass. Celebrated our 36th anniversary with great service (from the hostesses to the bartender, to our server, to the manager who came by). My only bone to pick ever, (after dozens of celebration dinners over the past decade), happened after we finished and had exited. First issue: Stopped by the women's bathroom on the way down and it was a dirty, wet, toilet paper and garbage strewn mess (so much so I actually took pictures) with broken hooks for purse hanging and latches. It felt like an out of body experience and wondered if I had mistakenly climbed down into some public beach facility vs George's. If the bathroom's a mess...see attached https://www.foodandwine.com/dirty-bathroom-restaurant-7108947 Second: Husband had a really weird encounter on the sidewalk right at the bottom of the steps heading towards the public valet. Just as it was getting dark and looking at our phones for Uber, husband was approached by two young men (white, in their 20's surfer looking), who tried to engage him a an inane conversation about the shirt he was wearing (asking if we were tourists etc.). Not quite belligerent, but off putting, when all of a sudden another older white guy (in his 30-40's) hurriedly ran up almost bumping into my husband and these two guys to ask "I'm new around here, are there any good places to eat?"...wtaf, either someone was trying to roll us, or someone else was trying to block them...we'll never know. But considering the street was packed with people, it was a total shock and a huge let down to another otherwise awesome George's experience.

Yelp
Came here for the great view but it was night time so it was pitch dark outside. Ambiance is still great here. Food was excellent, especially the salmon tartare and spicy tubetti. The pasta was a bit spicy but it was excellent. Served was ok. Besides the roof top, lots of seating indoor. The whiskey cocktail was strong and taste. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Rooftop bar/restaurant at George's is very nice. Excellent view. Luke (Skywalker) the rooftop bartender serves fantastic red sangrias and spa day cocktails. Excellent bartender.

Janette A.

Yelp
Met up with my cousins for dinner. It's been a few years, since I've ate here, so it was nice to see what was new on their menu and also the view of the La Jolla shores is always a plus. As we were waiting for our cousin and her husband, my other cousin and I waited at the bar. The staff was super nice, attentive and accommodating. Once everyone arrived, we were seated. I got the salmon tartare, Niman Ranch Flat Iron and the dark chocolate mousse. Everything was delicious and fresh. I also had sangria, but not shown and was just...thirsty. Haha.⁣ ⁣ The only downfall is parking. If you plan on coming to eat here or anywhere else in this area, I highly recommend coming a bit early or just pay for valet.
google avatar

Madelyn S.

Yelp
Beautiful outdoor spot looking over the cove, 5 star views all around. But service was lacking, very slow and didn't seem happy to be there, and we were pressured to leave so they could start cleaning for dinner service early. We had racked up a huge group tab and still had full drinks. Someone at our table had asked for another water and the waiter said no and was completely serious. It was a strange ending to an otherwise enjoyable meal.
google avatar

Toby P.

Yelp
The service was good the food was inconsistent. I've been coming to George's for years and the food has declined significantly. It used to be a reliable spot to come with friends and out of town guests, but there are other spots with views that put out much better food. The chips, salsa & guacamole were fine (salt on the chips would have been better). The famous soup was lacking seasoning and was unusually bland (coming from someone who orders it every time). The beet salad was fine. The salmon tartare was the standout of the day. It was wonderfully flavored although the 2 chips to scoop with weren't enough. The burger was cooked perfectly medium rare, but came out cold. The fried chicken sandwich had zero flavor, the slaw helped but not enough. The side salad with the fried chicken was good. The linguine with shrimp was absolutely bland as well and the shrimp were cooked unevenly. Some were decent but about a third were over cooked to the point of being chewy, rubbery and inedible. What's going on George's you used to be so good? Now, your dishes are uninspired and bland. If you're not going to season the entrees at least put salt and pepper on the table so your guests can add some flavor to the dishes. Maybe food doesn't matter because people will pay for the view? Either way, it's unfortunate.

Yelp
To preface, I've visited this location a few times now because the view is amazing and the food has always been delicious. In fact, I've had some of the best burrata appetizers and surf and turf entrees at George's. However, just like the more recent reviews have said, the quality of the food has really decreased. We shared a pasta and chicken dish during our latest visit that was lacking. To start off on a good note, the service was great and our waitress was friendly and accommodating. Since our food wasn't up the quality we expected, she offered us a dessert on the house. We opted for the goat cheesecake and the flavor was very unique and tasty. The cream that came with the cheesecake had a hint of vanilla, which complimented the cheesecake well. Now for our entrees -- we ordered the pasta and chicken. The pasta was temperate and the noodles were definitely a little overdone and the sauce was too salty. Our waitress kindly sent the dish back to be remade. When the remake arrived, there was less sauce and the noodles were done much better, but the flavor was still lacking. For our second entree -- the chicken was hot and juicy but the squash and zucchini seemed to have been prepared beforehand and then just slightly heated up before being dumped onto the plate with the chicken. Overall, the food is not what it used to be, and we will not likely come back to celebrate again at George's until they bring back their original quality.

Yelp
TLDR: Very cold, very tasty! We've been digging their sister restaurant Sandpiper lately, so we decided to come for the first night of SD Restaurant Week. We hadn't been to Ocean Terrace (what's now just called George's, with "Level 2" being the old fancy dining room) in a few years. We definitely can recommend (most) of the food, but I'd recommend coming before sundown unless you are wearing a ton of layers. FREEZING PART: We eat outside all the time, including on winter nights. And they have some heaters here. BUT it can be *so* windy next to the water that the heaters don't do much good. They have blankets on hand! But my SO was super grumpy when we first sat down, and a lot of folks asked to move to Level 2. SO... wear a ski jacket, sweaters AND their blankets... or come for lunch. FOOD: They were offering 3 courses for $60 for restaurant week. 2 of my 3 courses - and my cocktail - were delicious. The entree was the only miss. DRINKS: I got the Spa Day, vodka-cucumber-mint-elderflower-lime martini, served up. Delicious. Warmed me up a little. My SO was dying of cold. But Gerardo (who's a great server) hooked him up with a (comped, in the end) hot chocolate. Definitely helped him warm up & cheer up! APPETIZERS: SO got the smoked chicken/broccoli soup. Said it was good. I was much more thrilled about my FABULOUS appetizer, the salmon tartare (with jalapeño, wasabi guacamole, yuzu aioli, puffed sesame rice cracker). Very generous portion, super fresh fish, great marinade and crema - and altogether delicious. Not too spicy. A winner!!! ENTREES: SO got airline jidori chicken. Liked it. I thought the mushroom in his dish were fab. I got scared off the rare yellowtail by yelpers who hadn't liked it. Got the Indian-spice aioli salmon instead. I would not recommend this dish. I love Indian food - and I love salmon. But the sauce was really like a "curry mayonnaise" = bad fusion. The dish was low carb, and had lots of carrots, a decent piece of grilled fish, and the sauce. Not a fan. Maybe other people have different taste buds, but I think this should come off the menu & they should use a different preparation for the lovely fish they have. DESSERTS: Yes, so I'm a fangirl of the current pastry chef Aly Lyng - I've been digging her creative desserts at Sandpiper. And her course did not disappoint! Goat cheese cheesecake with cassis preserves was DELICIOUS (it's not on the online menu). $3 supplement but well worth it. My SO got the dark chocolate mousse with strawberry rhubarb compote, strawberry sorbet, black cocoa sable, which is also a $3 supplement - but also super worth it. So overall: 3 of the 4 things I got were *delish*. I don't recommend the salmon entree. And keep in mind that it's freaking COLD on winter nights and even in a ski jacket you might be dying - so eat during the daytime if you want the outdoor view here - or wait til it warms up a bit!

Yelp
Amazing visuals create an awesome experience here. Food is as expected and good in itself , but the driver is atmosphere and views. Recommend.

Yelp
"I had a reservation for my wife's birthday celebration. We arrived a bit late but, thankfully, it was a slower day, so we were seated quickly. * Food and Drink: 5 stars * Service by Kenna: 5 stars * Overall Experience: 1 star While the food and drinks at George's at the Cove were excellent, and our server Kenna was attentive, warm, and accommodating, the experience was overshadowed by the manager's behavior, which felt discriminatory and entirely unprofessional. We requested to sit by the window, where six tables were available (only one of which was reserved), yet we were told that those tables were exclusively for a "premium, prepaid $240 lunch"--a policy that turned out to be untrue, as other patrons were seated at these tables with no such requirement, ordering ordinary menu items. The blatant inconsistency in seating policies and the manager's dismissive attitude left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected. It's a shame that such an enjoyable meal and wonderful service by Kenna were marred by the unkind, discriminatory treatment from management. Based on this experience, we will not be returning and cannot recommend the restaurant. Not recommended if you are not white American."

Yelp
Came here for our first night in La Jolla and to celebrate our anniversary. Our waiter was extremely attentive and very nice. The weather was a bit misty on and off, and he accommodated us by providing blankets, giving us the option to switch tables a couple times, opened the umbrella and moved it to cover us while we ate. He also comped us a glass of martinellis and Prosecco as well as the dessert. He definitely went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time. I had higher expectations for the food, which is why I am not giving a 5/5 star review, everything was tasty but I wasn't blown away with the dinner options. I would definitely come back to try their lunch though.

Yelp
Great service, great food, and great views! It was a little breezy on the rooftop the evening we went, but they had heaters and blankets available if needed. Time your dinner to enjoy a sunset! Start with the French onion focaccia - just do it. It's so good! We tried a shrimp pasta dish, a chicken dish and a scallops dish - all were excellent. Our server was very attentive and a manager checked in to see how we were doing. We'll be back next time we're in the area!

Yelp
Five star view with one star food. This is our second time dining at George's for lunch. While the view is absolutely incredible. The menu choices and food quality on our last visit were absolutely terrible. Service was slow, and while our first cocktail seemed promising, everything went downhill from there. First of all, my biggest pet peeve is when you specifically tell the waiter you don't want all your food at once, that you want to enjoy your cocktail first followed by your salad and then your main. Nope, everything we ordered, came out all at once, including the cocktail.....uggg. The jalapeño infused pineapple margarita was excellent. My husband ordered the Caesar salad with anchovies and it was good, but the croutons were absolutely the worst! They were like stale hard bread squares with zero seasoning or flavor on them. I ordered the BLT salad and what a joke it was. First of all whatever bizarre combination of ingredients they put into that salad absolutely did not work. There was far too much going on & Way too much acid in this mainly tomato salad. They ruined the tomatoes with bitter micro greens, some type of pork strips that were hard and flavorless, and didn't resemble bacon in the least. There were a Few pieces of avocado and the "lettuce " was only the butt ends of a little gem lettuce that had been fermented and pickled in vinegar. Yuck. The whole thing was topped with furikake. Really? This item was so terrible I sent it back. I even commented to the waiter once we finally got to see him that it should be removed from the menu and that it's not a traditional BLT salad, which is bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes. He immediately agreed with me and said they have received many complaints on their new menu and said he would take it off of our bill. Finally, we shared the lobster roll, which to my dismay was served cold style with not enough lobster, too much mayo, and a boring cold brioche bun. The fries served on the side, however, were crispy, but unfortunately got cold because as mentioned above, everything was delivered to our table altogether. What a disappointing visit and unfortunately, I probably won't be back any time soon. Better step up your game George , you got a lot of great competition there in La Jolla.

Yelp
Food, Service, Ambiance, what is good about George's at the cove - EVERYTHING. Amazing place. My go-to whenever I visit my daughter in La Jolla.

Yelp
Breathtaking views are what this restaurant is serving. Located in cute La Jolla this restaurant will be a new favorite of mine whenever I'm in San Diego. Order the soup! They have a delicious soup that is Oprah's favorite and now I know why. It's definitely delicious and similar to a gumbo without the okra. I also ordered the mushroom penne pasta which was just ok but was highly recommended. The dish needed more red wine, salt, and red pepper chili flakes which I added. The bar area is super sexy and elevated above the restaurant. Every table has a stunning view. Even though the view and service are upscale the dress code is casual and laid back. Also the restaurant was filled with sexy dressed couples enjoying date night. I can't wait to come back to this gorgeous view and catch a sunset!

Yelp
The view from this restaurant is everything. We were lucky enough to get a reservation for an evening around sunset. Watching the sun go down over the coastline was such a treat, and they gave us a spectacular table. Overall, the service here was fantastic. We felt that the food was a bit overpriced (even for California standards) and the quality was hit or miss. We ordered the grilled octopus and burrata for appetizers, which were both delicious. The burrata, though, was quite small, and we felt that it didn't justify the $21 price tag, whereas the octopus was larger, more intricate, and seemed well worth the $22 price. For mains, we ordered the yellowtail and shrimp pasta. Despite a complex description on the menu that peaked our interest, the yellowtail lacked flavor and the shrimp in the pasta was very undercooked. We ultimately ended up ordering some garlic aioli french fries because we all felt hungry after our mains. They have a good wine and cocktail list. So, in short, go for the view, order drinks, and get some apps.

Yelp
I luckily got last minute reservations here on a Saturday morning and was completely blown away! I usually come here for dinner, but their lunch was Fantastic! Not only were they so busy, but our food came out quick and hot! Our waiter was amazing! He pulled out all the stops, had the best recommendations and really tried to compromise with the second best item when they ran out of our first choice. The view is breathtaking and we enjoyed every second of it! I recommend the Chicken Sandwich it is so delicious!!

Yelp
We absolutely loved this place! The view is top notch and it is an all outdoor place which is super cool. The food was fantastic!!! The services was great. Our waiter even wrote down a few local recommendations for us which was great. The menu is not super extensive, I didn't feel there were a lot of options but everything we did get was great!

Yelp
Struggled between a 4 and 5 and ended on the 4. George's at the Cove is 100% made better by the upper oceanside vibes. The food is also great but I wouldn't say that any entree our group had really knocked our socks off. The real stars were the service (OUTSTANDING) and the sticky toffee dessert! Definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
Came on a Friday for late lunch and was sat promptly at a table with a gorgeous view. The tables were sat a bit too close to each other but ocean view was incredible. The food came out fairly quick. We ordered the burrata to start along with chicken sandwich and fish tacos. Unfortunately the chicken is fried in the same oil as the shrimp which gave the chicken a very fishy flavor. I never like to send food back but I just couldn't eat it. The server was very kind and accommodating and I ordered the burger instead. Burger was very tasty and so were the friend fries. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her fish tacos. Drinks are great here as well. Over all we very had a nice lunch.

Yelp
If you haven't stepped in for the fish tacos you're doing yourself a disservice, this is top spot and one of my favorites. The customer service is 10 out of 10! The incredible views make you want to stay even longer than you should.

Yelp
We made dinner reservations for my birthday. They sat us in the rooftop area to enjoy the beautiful view of La Joya. The staff were cordial and polite, they answered questions about the menu. We ordered a couple of appetizers including a salad, and bread. He ordered pasta and I couldn't resist to get the grilled octopus. Dinner was spectacular.

Yelp
The only reason i've given a 1 star rating is because the option to give 0 does not exist. We walked in to an empty restaurant for lunch & it soon became apparent why no one else was dining there. The food was terrible. I ordered the soup & managed to eat half of it as i was quite hungry but couldn't eat more. I waited in anticipation for my chicken sandwich which i thought must be better, i mean you can't go wrong with a chicken sandwich, right? Oh how wrong i was, i took a bite & wish I hadn't, the meat looked old & tasted like last years dried fungus. It was bad. To top things off, we were told we couldn't feed our service dog in the restaurant, even though we were the only ones in there. Lesson learned, don't eat at Georges, it is hands down the worst meal i've had since moving to the area a year ago (and we dine out quite often).

Yelp
I was a tad disappointed with George's. The views are gorgeous but the food was simply mid and the service was horrible. I'd rather eat at Dukes than George's and you get the same view.

Yelp
Great service rendered by Irvin. Friendly, courteous, efficient, knowledgeable of the menu and drinks & mixes, and very patient with kids. Food was great and reasonable. Place was clean and we were given a table with a great view. Condiments containers should always be cleaned. The mustard & catsup was with dried up sauce in its container. Was originally thinking of giving only 4 stars but everything was superseded but the great service and the delicious food served.

Yelp
so yummy and the staff that helped us friday night were super friendly and on top of it! we got the focaccia bread with ricotta and it was so good! perfect balance of savory and spicy. you could tell the bread was freshly baked! we ordered short ribs and a flat iron steak. my short ribs were so good, especially prepared with the mashed potatoes. the steak was juicy and the bacon aioli on top was amazing! we also shared a creme brûlée. i felt it was lacking in flavor a bit but it was still good. it was a bit on the smaller size as well, but nonetheless, 9/10 visit!

Yelp
Make a reservation for the outside eating area. It is lovely but can get windy they do have heaters when it gets chilly to keep guests comfortable. We have had the same waiter both times we have visited which was really nice. The food is so flavorful. The seasonal dishes really keep you coming back for more.

Yelp
Fantastic high quality restaurant. The view is the best part of the experience! Food is great but so are many other places in the area. Nothing stood out to us in our party of 4, but just good dishes all around. The wait staff was very friendly and professional.

Yelp
I misses my reservation due to traffic, but the hostess was so nice to move it in the evening. I love their clam linguine pasta, but they changed their menu around 7/24/24, which is perfectly fine. I ordered mussels under the appetizers. Most of the time, when I order whether it's clams or mussels, the bread is on the side for dipping. Mine was served with the bread in the middle underneath all the mussels soaked in red sauce. The mussels felt like they were steamed separately and topped on the plate without tossing them in the sauce. The sourdough bread underneath was so soggy. The only good thing was the red sauce. Hostess and service were great. Just don't order this.
