The Best Restaurants In The Mueller Neighborhood In Austin

"The Halal Corner gets right to the point with its name—halal food on a corner unit in Mueller, over near the Home Depot. There’s a pretty big dining room, with a patio that spills out onto the street for when the weather is nice. On the menu, expect to find things like a grilled meat or shawarma plate over rice—drizzled with spicy red and zesty green sauces—kafta kebab and falafel wraps, and a few salads. Most of the menu falls under $10, with big enough portions for a late night snack. " - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion

The Halal Corner Mueller - Review - Mueller - Austin - The Infatuation

Hala Wings Austin Review - Mueller - Austin - The Infatuation

"Looking for a place to get a bunch of wings late at night? Maybe even last minute before a Super Bowl party? Halal Wings feels like it’s always open, always reliable, and affordable. Don’t expect life-changing wings here (or anywhere?), but expect some really solid wings at some of the lowest prices in town.  " - Nicolai McCrary

Google
Super nice and quick! great spot for lunch. I was attended quickly, no line and my food was ready in 5 minutes. Super generous portions as well. Recommending to all my friends and will definitely be back.

Google
The food is great and freshly prepared every single time. This is my go-to restaurant every single day. I am a little disappointed today which is also the reason for writing this review is I ordered beef and an egg plant over p2 Taziki sauce but there was only beef and no eggplant. I placed the order through call and repeated myself twice. It made my dish very dry since there was no egg plant. The cashier never said anything when I picked up the order. Guess I will have to make sure my order is right before I leave the restaurant every single time.

Google
Love this place, I wish they had some Shrak bread and a Beef shawarma arabi plate. The hummus is so damn good 10/10

Google
Food was delicious and healthy with plenty of salad. The meat was a bit greasy but very tasty. There is seating for about 75 people and there is outdoor seating as well. Food was reasonable priced.

Google
I used to LOVE this place. NOT anymore. Used to eat here several times a month Tonight was our final visit. The last 3 times food has not been as good. I get that there can be an off day. We were starving and generally food tastes amazing at that point but I could only stomach a few bites. Tonight it was clear fries were old and refried. Rice was lacking flavor. I subbed in tabouleh and literally was given two tablespoons. The gyro meat tasted freezer burned and the pita was tough and chewy. Water was dripping on our heads from the ceiling. I brought up the concerns and no remedy was offered. Not sure if it’s because we went on a Sunday night

Google
I ordered the roasted chicken wrap, but was served the loaded chicken wrap. What a pleasant mix-up, because the fries were delicious on there! All the ingredients coupled with the sauce made for a delicious, savory wrap. I was trying to be healthy and ordered the cauliflower instead of the fries, but the cauliflower was fried y'all. And absolutely delicious. Outside of the yummy food, our table was annoyingly off balance and the ladies room reeked. Parking was easy and we went around 1230, so there was very little wait time. Will I eat here again, absolutely.

Google
For what it lacks in atmosphere, the food was fantastic! Some of the best hummus I’ve ever had, and the falafel was so flavorful I had to eat it slowly and truly enjoy it. It’s not a beautiful spot to look at, but don’t let that fool ya! Halal Bros has nothing on this place.

Fair priced wonderfully food. Workers are very kind and professional. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Food was amazing!!! I wish I found it sooner. The cashier helped me decide and I'm glad I went with his suggestions

Yelp
Great tasting food for good price. Located in the Barbara Jordan shopping plaza, I came here on a rainy night when I didn't feel like cooking. I opted for the platter with beef shawarma that came with a delicious white sauce, rice, salad, and pita. The portion was large enough for probably 2 meals and the meat was delicious and paired wonderfully with the white sauce. Ordered ahead on line so the food was read immediately when I came but the location is a bit hidden in a corner and their lights for their sign were off so it was a bit hard to find, but nonetheless a great meal!

Yelp
My pic doesn't do this food justice! The crazy plate is amazing!! So much food and so much flavor! I always have leftovers because the portions are so large. The gyro meat is flavorful and plentiful. The sauces are all to die for. I get garlic sauce on the side sometimes and it's awesome. Green sauce is perfect, red sauce is spicy so be careful if you get extra. Food comes out super quick (took 3-5 min for our two meals). My only complaint is they are so skimpy with the red onions! I had one tiny piece in my meal. Would love the veggies to be balanced out

Yelp
This place defines the phrase "some of the best food you find is in hole in the wall places". This one of mine and my coworkers favorite places to eat. Our food is always consistently good and the service is quick.I usually get the P21 crazy plate and vary the toppings I choose. The beef, chicken and fried cauliflower are always great on this rice a d salad plate. The sauces are scrumptious. Today I also tried the creamy jalapeño salad with chicken added. It was delicious! Don't let the looks of the place scare you away. If you do you'll miss out. (Oh and hilariously, they have clip on bidet attached to their toilets!)

Yelp
If you are staying in the Residence Inn then this is a solid choice as it's a very short walk to this place...the chicken bowl with rice and some sort of tzatziki sauce is great. The orange sauce chicken bowl is a bit spicy... if you like heat then this is a great choice. The falafel ball things are really good and yes we would come back for another meal!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on a late night whim and just wanted an appetizer of fried cauliflower and an order of loaded fries- no olives. Welp, I was not disappointed and my taste buds were pleasantly surprised. So surprised I returned to try the chicken shawarma and loaded fries (again). Do yourself the favor of hitting this place up!!!

Yelp
This used to be my family's favorite halal spot for years, especially when we lived close by. We had a wrong order sent home with us, and because we no longer live close by, we were not able to exchange. Unfortunately, my kids could not eat because we specified no red/hot sauce, and we even verified that on our receipt. When I called, the gentleman on the line would not offer a refund or the option to speak to the manager. Instead, he said to come by and ask for him by name (Fahid, unsure of spelling),and he would comp us two entrees, similar to our exact order. I was in the area again and the kind lady working the counter said there's no one by the name of Fahid. Needless to say, I feel tricked and taken by Halal Corner, or at least someone who represented them working at the counter and taking calls. For those doing takeout orders, be sure to check your order before leaving. They make it so difficult to request a refund, even with my receipt and verifiable order number.

Yelp
Ordered on ubereats and had a great bogo deal for gyro plate. The meal was so flavorful and filling. It was two meals basically. But overall definitely will go back.
google avatar

Frank T.

Yelp
I normally order from Kismet Cafe in Hancock Center since it does a fantastic job for the price. I had a $20 off Uber Eats coupon and this one was the only place with that. Next time I will forgo the discount and pay more. Since the service and quality were not even 2 stars. I gave an additional star for the Uber Driver, who was fast and efficient, albeit missing items from the order. In the photo of the receipt you can see pretty decent deals for all the food. Unfortunately, what you don't see in the photo is the falafel. That is because it was missing. I'm not a big falafel fan, but my wife is and we always order 3 or 4 orders so we get a ton of falafel. So, you can imagine her disappointment, when no falafel. How does that even happen, especially when it states 4 orders? How do you miss that? Anyways, the other dishes were less than impressive. The kafta over rice was cold, lacked spices, and they skimped on the meat. The salad was nothing like the photo in their online menu. No onions, no tomatoes, just lettuce. The fried eggplant was not fried, but seemed like just mixed with oil. The shawarma wraps were Ok, but half the size and fillings of my go to Kismet Cafe. Don't know if they do this when delivering an order with almost 40% off, but this was just unacceptable.
google avatar

Tina D.

Yelp
The wraps aren't that good. I had the gyro and chicken wrap. The meat wasn't seasoned, but the services was quick.
google avatar

Bill P.

Yelp
An absolute gem. This family run business is consistent in taste and friendly service. We always order the P1. A pro tip, ask for 2 meats! You can get half chicken, gyro, or steak or kafta, etc. You won't be disappointed! For the flavor, portion size and price - this place is all time!
google avatar

Austin L.

Yelp
First time trying this place... and it did not live up to the reviews. The self order kiosk are confusing and my food was cold. Not to mention the kebab beef I found in my chicken bowl!!! Poor customer service.
google avatar

Renee C.

Yelp
Food was great. Customer service was good. I had a difficult time understanding what the lady was saying who took my order but she was very friendly. I would definitely go back!
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
Honestly, always fresh and fast. Hits the spot everytime. I always order the White Sauce and meat plate with grilled chicken shawarma and cauliflower with salad add garlic sauce. Hell, I'm halfway through it and looking forward to my next night in with a glass of wine. Well-priced, generous portion and mad flavor.

Xavier P.

Yelp
Really really tasty. The lettuce was really fresh and the sauces were on point. Definitely recommend this place I love Halal Corner!

Shabi P.

Yelp
The food was good but it was a bit spicy for me and my family. It tasted more like indian food than Mediterranean ones.
google avatar

Zahra M.

Yelp
This place is INCREDIBLE. Genuine Mediterranean food right under this roof! The flavors are so fresh and definitely the real deal. Plenty of food for each meal as well. They some lemonade options in-house. I highly recommend that you try them, especially the mint one! The quality of the food here is second to none. You won't find that everywhere you go. If you're looking for a great meal spot for lunch or dinner (or both), you really should give this place a try! You will not be disappointed.

Adele L.

Yelp
Good food good service. Different way of cooking we like it. Lamb was especially good.

Chris B.

Yelp
Food is average, service takes a long time. It would be helpful if you warn customers that certain dishes take 25-35 minutes to prepare prior to ordering or place notifications on the menu items due to your self-service POS model. Making customers aware after waiting for 35 minutes is unacceptable.
google avatar

Megan E.

Yelp
Literally best halal in Austin. The p2 combo plate is a generous portion and so tasty. The white sauce is quite literally the best thing I've tasted. Staff is friendly and menu is huge but highly recommend the p2. You'll be addicted shortly.
google avatar

Luis T.

Yelp
Great food and portions service was great would go back. Facility was clean and typical of a quick eatery.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
I can only speak to the chicken white sauce plate but it's very consistent and flavorful. Only complaint is I'd prefer a slightly larger serving of the chicken.
google avatar

Trent H.

Yelp
Place is always consistent. We don't come here often, and when we do it's not always the reason you want to come to Austin. BUT.... This is our first meal when getting situated in the hospital. It is close, delicious, and always constantly filling. Keep up the good food. We love it.
google avatar

Tanjina I.

Yelp
Food is good but the service is pretty bad. The cashier was very rude in her tone and mannerisms.
google avatar

Bre M.

Yelp
I love this place. The prices are super reasonable and the flavors are great. If you're considering halal cafe or kebab shop, choose halal corner every time. Food comes out quickly and there are plenty of seats inside.
google avatar

Christina R.

Yelp
Nice selection of vegetarian & vegan options! The spicy vegan gyro was very satisfying. Parking is easy, open parking outside in the lot. Restroom was clean & bright. They promote recycling inside the store too Would definitely return.
google avatar

Pamela M.

Yelp
My family has been going to Halal Corner for years. For years it has been very consistent in the quality and taste. A few days ago we ordered our usual. P-1. The total flavor was off. It just was not the same. The total experience of flavors was not there. The meat, sauce and rice just was not what we had experienced from our pervious orders. I will also add that the two people I saw there were not the same. For years I believe at least one person was an owner. This time I am not sure. I will give them one more try as this may be an anomaly. If the next time it is still not on point I will not return.
google avatar

Nichole E.

Yelp
I was craving some gyro meat the other day so we tried this place out. We started with the dolmas and hummus and they were great but the real stars were the bowls, they're huge! I got mine with the gyro meat and crazy sauce and OMG sooooo good!! My fiancé got the same with chicken and beef and he loved his as well. We also got some baklava to go and it was some of the best we've had. All in all we spent $34 and got a ton of food. The service was friendly and we'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Moaz K.

Yelp
This business refused service to a blind customer due to a service animal that was clearly identified. Management also refused after being informed that he was a guide dog for the blind. Please do not give business to a restaurant who discriminates on the basis of a disability.
google avatar

Katherine P.

Yelp
Ordered on Postmates for the first time and was not disappointed! We ordered 2 gyro plates which came with rice, hummus and salad. Everything tasted well seasoned and was delicious...I especially liked the hummus! Will be ordering again soon! :)
google avatar

Lydia H.

Yelp
YUM! I've been a diehard fan of Halal Bros, but decided to try this spot since it was close by in Mueller. The portions are huge and I fell in love with the jalapeno sauce. I also really enjoyed the salad -- it was super fresh!
google avatar

Olivia H.

Yelp
Living in Mueller, The Halal Corner has become our local staple for takeout. They offer large portions at decent prices - most plates are around $8 and last 1-2 meals depending on how hungry you are. Our go-to order is the "crazy plate", which combines the sauces from both the P1 & P2, and then we usually pick half-eggplant-half-gyro or half-eggplant-half-falafel with red sauce on the side (it's pretty spicy). Most importantly, do not sleep on the eggplant! I don't know what their process is, but it comes out perfectly roasted every time, to a point of near-caramelization. Growing up, I hated eggplant, but started warming up to it in recent years. After ordering it consistently in my plates here, my love for it has grown. So a huge thanks goes out to The Halal Corner for turning our relationship around. My tastebuds (and probably the eggplant industry) thank you.

Dawson S.

Yelp
Great Halal and it's really affordable too like $8 wraps. One of my favorite spots in Austin the chicken is fire. They have never messed up my order, it's fast asf too even when it's busy.
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
Auntie's around Austin again ^_^ Halal yeah! Yum-worthy. So tickled that SisL picked up lunch for the family here. Timing was convenient since one of my micro preemie twin nephews had a doc's visit at Dell Children's Medical Center nearby. Y'all are lucky to have THC as an option for daily good eats. Since the menu was uber simple she was able to call us, give options, and quickly order to-go. A smooth transaction. We all chose the P3. My meat option was their roasted chicken shawarma over seasoned rice w/a side of hummus, salad, and separately wrapped pita. Pic will complete the description. As always, you're welcome. Thumbs up for the moist chicken shawarma. That and the seasoned rice combo were satisfyingly tasty. Their salad I can snack on all day long. Just right. Wished for more of the side hummus though. I schmear that schi+ on everything. Hummus fan here. Oh we're coming back. Yip. Next time I may consider the P7 or a meat wrap w/an appetizer-size hummus dip w/pita. Plus likely baklava. Now hrmmm.... haven't had namoura in ever so this instead?? *thinking face* Geez they offer eggplant dip too. In any case, I'll get my order straight before then :)
google avatar

Wael E.

Yelp
Kofta wrap and beef shawarma were both same ground beef! Not the best in the area compared to other halal places
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
I was recently in Austin for business and tried this spot out. It's pretty good. I enjoyed the food and the prices were very good. The ambiance could use a spruce up. But other than that I thought it was good.
google avatar

Trevor D.

Yelp
This place is a nice mom & pop shop! I got the P20 and it was delicious. Service was friendly and they deserve more attention!
google avatar

Liz M.

Yelp
My husband knows that if he asks me what I want to order in I'm going to say Halal Corner. It's fast, feels healthy and it's soooo delish. I order the Platter 2 with chicken and creamy jalapeño sauce. The menu is confusing! There are two items that seem to be the exact same thing... I can't help you understand that because I don't, myself. I like that there's always easy parking, and I just have to go three feet inside to grab my food. Do I wish the workers would wear better-fitting masks? Yes I do. Do I plan to order my Platter 2 with extra creamy jalapeño sauce again very soon even though I had it for dinner tonight? Again, yes. This is Liz and I am done speaking.
google avatar

Michelle W.

Yelp
This was my first visit and they were so friendly. The service rocked! They explained the menu to us and let us sample the creamy jalapeño sauce and red hot salsa. We also got to try the Jamaica and Tamarind drink. Those were delicious too. Based on what I saw and sampled I ordered the P1 Creamy Jalapeño combo meat (gyro and chicken shawarma). They will add a line of the hot sauce to the top of your salad, but if you want an extra kick be sure to get the red salsa on the side. The red Hot salsa has more of a kick than the creamy jalapeño sauce. The creamy jalapeño sauce was creamy with good flavor, but for me it's not spicy at all. All of their sauces are homemade. So good! I like the salad and rice that came with this plate. Big portions here as I still had food leftover. We ordered the baklava to try and it was tasty. The inside of this restaurant wasn't packed, but they were busy with to go orders all night. I can't wait to go back.

Shaneal S.

Yelp
Good wings here 10/10 on the way they were fried to perfection nice and crispy. 6/10 on the flavor tho. I ordered lemon pepper and garlic Parmesan expecting them to be a nice saucy content but they were more of a dry rub with not much seasoning. The cashier was cool though and gave me some garlic sauce which was white, creamy deliciousness. I highly recommend that they put that sauce on their wings for
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
Everything was delicious! I got the P1 but ordered a lot more, so don't hesitate and just try anything on the menu. The service was amazing too!
google avatar

Karyssa P.

Yelp
Only Mediterranean place I've found in Austin that I really truly love so far and I can tell you why, creamy jalapeño. The P1 with beef is a rice plate with beef, side of salad (normally romaine but due to diseased lettuce current picture shows iceberg) covered in the most incredible creamy jalapeño sauce. I hear they're opening halal wings next door which I'm eager to try. My partner finds the gyro meat a bit salty for his liking which makes me salty, as this is my favorite place on the planet currently. So say bye to that hater and get yourself down to Halal Corner. Try some desserts / sweets while you're there as well.

Sniya C.

Yelp
Great food for great prices and nice service! They also have a kids meal option which I haven't seen at other halal places
google avatar

Lyla A.

Yelp
Fantastic food. I've had this exact concept of food several times in several different places but hands down this was the best. The spicy sauce was on point and made me want to gulp my water - The perfect amount of spice balanced with their yogurt sauce on the rice and chicken. The gyro meat, beef shwarma, and chickens are all excellent. I didn't like their eggplant dip very much but the rest of my family did. This is a fast food type place but the Service was wonderful. We opted to eat outside initially and a bee landed right in my husband's food before he had taken a bite. It buried itself in the yogurt sauce and he just took it back inside and showed it to them and they made him a fresh plate without any questions asked. I wish this place was closer to us in Round Rock. ***if you like spicy food, ask for a side of the spicy sauce. It's legit.***

Leslee P.

Yelp
The food here might be delicious but we didn't get to try any because they wouldn't allow my blind friends guide dog in the restaurant.
google avatar

Brandon L.

Yelp
Stopped in to grab lunch for the team. We all had the P3 platters with our choice of meat. I opted for all Gyro shown in the pic attached. The gyro meat is super tender and flavorful. The rice was cooked perfectly and the salad was tossed in a light dressing. Don't sleep on that hummus, it's a great paring with the bread and gyro. The meal was filling, under 10 bucks and I would assume somewhat healthy. Much better pick than fast food. Go to Halal Corner and get that food in your mouth because I said so. Until next time fellow Yelpers!!!
google avatar

Roxanne R.

Yelp
TL;DR: This place is amazing, any time of day. My boyfriend and I decided to go downtown one Saturday evening - we waited close to two hours at a popular food spot only to finally be seated at a table with extremely loud music playing and flies flying in my face. At that point I wasn't having much of anything and so we decided to give up on the evening and head home. On the way back, I tried to think of places we could go that might still be open where we could grab a quick bite - happily I saw that Halal Corner was open. I had the vegetarian mezze, boyfriend had a combo gyro wrap, and both were excellent. I've had food here for lunch and dinner and always loved it. However, this food we got late in the evening - even right before closing - was absolutely amazing. I am absolutely floored by how consistently good this place is. On top of all of that, the employees are always patient and wonderful no matter who is working. In short, highly recommend. 10/10 food, 10/10 service, 10/10 consistency. Amazing!!! Bravo!
google avatar

Jenny E.

Yelp
Very friendly service, clean atmosphere and excellent food. Beats Tino's across the street in every way. Beautiful Greek Salad, bright green, but reduced one star bc my salad dressing was quite spicy and I couldn't finish it. My husband loved the P1 plate w rice, salad, and jalapeño chicken.
google avatar

Pablo R.

Yelp
Wow I am so glad we chose to come eat here!!! The food was amazing and the service was super friendly and I love that it is a family run business. If you are in the area you should definitely stop by to grab a bite to eat!!
