I made a reservation for The Harbour Grill and, for the first time in my life, they asked for a credit card to hold the reservation. I guess this should have been a sign of things to come. When we arrived, the hostess took us to a table that I thought was perfect for us (out of the way). We were 4 generations of 6 people, from an 18 month old to a 96 year old. We ordered in stages; the soup special, charcuterie board and then our main courses. The Birria Tacos, the Harbour Grill Filet, the Rib-eye, Braised Short Ribs, Truffle Caesar Salad, Sweet Potato Fries and Cornbread. From the start, the kitchen must have been off because the food started coming out piecemeal. First was the soup, Carrot and Ginger with Coconut Milk and Croutons and then the charcuterie board. I asked what was on it. I was very surprised that I had to ask. I even had to ask what the soup special was. They both were wonderful. Then we got the Truffle Caesar Salad. That was great also. The Birria Taco was next. Another good choice. And then the long wait, so we asked for bread. Finally, we received the Rib-eye and the Harbour Grill Filet. As with proper manners, you are supposed to wait until everyone is served. Well, my 96 year old mother NEVER received her meal. Eventually, the waiter apologized for the tardiness of the Braised Short Ribs, something about a mixup of the tickets in the kitchen, so they need to cook another one. We were done eating our entrees when they finally brought out the cornbread, and were still waiting for the Short Ribs! It had been nearly an hour! Finally, we had enough and I asked to see the manager. The manager repeated what our server had already told us - there was some kind of mixup in the kitchen and we could either take the steak home and be charged for it or we could leave it and they would take it off of the bill. The waiter offered to bring fries and bread for my mother since she never received her meal, but she didn't receive that nor did she receive anything to compensate for the error. After a little bit of pushing, we were offered a dessert on the house, which doesn't make up for my mother not having any dinner, but the most bitter tasting part of the meal was manager's attitude. That is what happens when gratuity is included! Why should the waiter care? We chose to forfeit the Braised Short Ribs.
If their story is true, they threw away two short rib meals instead of offering it to us as a jester of goodwill. As good as the food may be, their short sided attitude is enough for me to say "never again."
