An eclectic mix of comfort foods, from curry to Cincinnati-style spaghetti, served in a cozy space.
"The HiHi Room, the sit-down restaurant from Court Street Grocers owners Eric Finkelstein and Matt Ross, will close after brunch service on Sunday, September 3. The team announced the news on Instagram on Thursday afternoon: 'We opened this little place just before the world shut down and it’s been a pretty wild ride since then.' The building will be changing hands, according to Finkelstein, although he declined to comment on the identity of the new owners. The HiHi Room opened in Boerum Hill in November 2019 with a menu that put pimento cheese, hush puppies, and other foods from the southeastern United States in the spotlight. Brooklyn Magazine first reported news of the closure." - Luke Fortney
"In New York City, there’s the HiHi Room, a restaurant devoted to the flavors of the Mid-Atlantic from fun sandwich godfathers Court Street Grocers." - Jaya Saxena
"So many pandemic-era outdoor structures look like an eyesore. By contrast, HiHi Room easily has one of the city’s most fun and aesthetically-pleasing heated open-air zones. The restaurant’s signature ketchup and mustard theme runs throughout the backyard: from its awnings to the kitschy butt warmers that are placed on select tables throughout. The knockout veggie burger and a cocktail interpretation of the childhood snack “ants on a log” are worth ordering all winter long while cozying up under the heaters." - Eater Staff
"For an extremely casual alternative to regular Thaksgiving things, enjoy elevated diner fare at HiHi Room. If the weather is good, their backyard is a great place to feel like you’re in the suburbs without actually having to go to the suburbs. This place is run by the Court Street Grocers team, so anything served on bread is going to be good. " - carina finn koeppicus
"HiHi Room and Win Son Bakery in Brooklyn both have mushroom patties available, and Rippers continues to sell its beachside veggie patty." - Jaya Saxena
