I’ve tried Indian food once, and didn’t like it. I was meeting a friend and thought I was coming to have Mediterranean. I was pleasantly mistaken. I had the chicken spinach with the garlic naan. It was so much food that I’ve been eating on it for a couple of days. It was still spicy as mild and it was a little hard on my chest…but I drank water and made it through. The lentil soup was definitely spicier than Mediterranean lentil soup, but still good. There were other things on the menu that I would be willing to try. (side note: park in the back and go through door like a tiny shopping center. The door on Michigan is misleading because it doesn’t open and there’s no sign telling you to enter through the back. Needs to be—watched at least 5-7 people make that mistake.)

This restaurant is absolutely amazing, I wish I could give it more than five stars. It’s definitely way above 10/10 for me. The staff and owner are super friendly and treat you amazingly. The food was really good and came out fast. They take care of you amazingly and check on you multiple times to make sure you are having the best experience ever, they do anything in their power to make your experience amazing. I recommend the lamb biryani and the butter chicken it was to die for. Perfect place to come to with your significant other for a good romantic date. They even have cute candles at your table for you!!

The colors of these dishes are so vibrant and beautiful and the different flavors of both savory and sweet spices are so fragrant in each dish.. The combination of flavors literally explode in your mouth.. So delicious.. This place has the most amazing authentic Indian cuisine better than anywhere else around in my opinion.. And the ambience sets the tone for an over all lovely dine in experience.. I Highly recommend this place..🍽️🍛😊

Allhamdulillah all the food was good and the service was nice. We entered from the back of the store and it had a nice dim setting on a Friday night. Now time to rank the food Nepali chowmein: 4/5 The texture and taste was smooth. It was but sour strong smell that was coming out of it Chicken methi 3.5/5 It was pretty sweet then expected and the chicken was bit raw but the gravy was thick and smooth. Which made up the raw chicken part Nepali naan 4.5/5 It was stuffed with chicken and had good portions Goat dum biryani 4/5 It was really flavorful and good but the portions were uneven. There were more goat meat then rice Tandoori meat mix 4.5/5 All the meat was tender and tasty Mango lemonade 5/5 It felt fresh and it was less sugary. The drink was light. Overall the employee and server making sure everything was alright and their hospitality to cater their customers was top notch. That’s what I liked about them

Google
I would say that the atmosphere was very comfortable. The décor was tasteful with a blend of Indian and Western. The lunch service was attentive and friendly. The naan bread was delicious. They offered a good variety of options for the naan. I look forward to going back and experience the dinner service. You will park in the back and enter through the common entrance. This is not a problem. Plenty of parking. Good meal and good service.

Nestled in the heart of Dearborn, The Himalayan Flames offers a culinary journey that is nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the warm, inviting ambiance. The candle-lit sitting area provides a cozy and intimate dining experience, perfect for a relaxed evening out. Despite the slightly higher prices, they are comparable to other restaurants in the area and are well worth it for the quality and authenticity of the food. I had the pleasure of trying the Methi Malai Chicken with a side of naan, and it was undoubtedly one of the best dishes I have ever tasted. The rich, creamy sauce paired with tender, flavorful chicken was a culinary delight, leaving me eager to return for more. One unique aspect of the dining experience here is that dishes are served as they are prepared, rather than all at once. While this may be a preference thing for some, it didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of the meal. In fact, it added a touch of freshness to each dish as it arrived. However, one dish that left me slightly disappointed was the tandoori chicken. While the flavor was excellent, the portion size was quite small for the price. Despite its great taste, I wouldn’t recommend it purely because of the portion size. In summary, The Himalayan Restaurant Flames is a gem in the city’s dining scene. The exceptional food, combined with the charming atmosphere and attentive service, ensures that I will be back for another visit. If you’re looking for an extraordinary dining experience, this is the place to be. 100% recommend!

Google
After seeing Good reviews about this place. We decided to stop by. Firstly Plates and Spoons aren’t clean. We requested another. We hoped for good food atleast but trust me it’s the worst food we ever imagined. Butter chicken is too sweet. Garlic naan seemed like freshly taken from fridge and heated on oven. Lamb isn’t cooked well in lamb biryani. Infact both chicken and mutton biryani tasted same. Chicken jalfrezi is normal. No one took care of us after serving the food (we four were only people in restaurant) . Parking issue is unavoidable. Don’t get fooled by reviews like we did visiting this place

Google
This place has a very upscale atmosphere with friendly service and a very diverse menu. They offer food from different areas of the world and all of it is very good. The restaurant ambiance is such a treat with a mixture of class and culture that really makes the meal enjoyable. I did notice that it can get really busy but for us it was perfect. I love their mango lassi, it really was a treat and helped with the spicy butter chicken that I ordered. 10/10 would recommend

Yelp
I'm always impressed with the food in Dearborn, but don't get out that way too often. I had had Himalayan Flames on my list for a while and it lived up to the hype! The menu options were clearly marked for veg items and everything was very tasty. Service was great too! Parking is a bit confusing, there is a nice lot in the back of the building, but the restaurant itself is in a building with several other establishments. I can't wait to go back!

Cristin G.

Yelp
It has been a few years since we have been here, but it was just as delicious as I remembered. We arrived at noon on a Saturday, and I was one of 2 seated tables in the building. We ordered the butter chicken, 2 pieces of naan, and a mango lassi.

Cindy L.

Yelp
Avocado Jhalmuri 3 rice puff, peanuts, raw onion Nalli Gosht 4 huge lamb shank, slightly spicy Methi Malai Chicken 5 creamy, buttery, flavorful Yellow Daal 4 lentil soup, thick The Himalayan Flames Naan 4 minced chicken, onions, garlic, flavorful Mango Lassi 4 slight spice that I don't like

Bill G.

Yelp
Superb Indian food! We loved all the dishes we ordered and shared them between the two of us. The flavors were spot on. I am always worried about the spicey dishes being too spicey. However, on the advise of our server we had our meals prepared at the chef makes them and the level of spice was perfect. Service was great and the atmosphere was warm and casual. Definitely a go to spot!

Aja R.

Yelp
Food is creative and consistently good. Nice take our service too. Pretty spicy and uses more flavor combos than some Indian places- in a good way!

Nik H.

Yelp
An excellent foray into Himalayan food. The appetizer texture was wonderfully unique, and the special lamb has all the right flavors. I practically licked the bowl. This place is for real. If you are in need of rich flavors, check The Himalayan Flames out.

Munzer R.

Yelp
I loved this restaurant! We went for my mom's birthday and staff was so accommodating and kind. We ordered a ton of dishes and every single item delivered. The portions are smaller than your average Desi restaurant, so you'd have to order more options than typically if you want to split things family style. We ended up ordering everything from the gobi manchurian, pani puri, papadum, chicken egg drop soup to the Sherpa sizzler, reshami kabob, salmon tikka, lamb korma, and saag paneer. All of the flavors were incredible and I'd definitely come back to try the other menu items!

Yelp
Very good service ambiance was nice and mello and food was great. I would go back again.

Russel H.

Yelp
Food was superlative; a perfectly cooked lamb shank, flavorful yellow lentil soup, warm naan, and rice pudding. I had four courses for $35 plus tip; back home the entree alone would have been that much. Service was friendly and attentive but not overbearing. One of the best meals I've had in a long time.

Mark D.

Yelp
Had regular and garlic naan, dahl, samosas, curried chicken, butter chicken and curried goat. Everything was outstanding. The chutneys were delicious. Nothing was very spicy. I prefer more heat in curry but the flavors were so delicious I didn't mind. The service was great. The staff made great recommendations. I will definitely go back!

Chris X.

Yelp
Prob some of best Indian I've had in the US outside of London. The tandordi chicken and lamb curry 10/10.

Eileen G.

Yelp
This restaurant is still one of my favorite places to eat because of the authenticity of their entrees and wonderful flavors. It's always a challenge to decide because I want more than one, plus samosas, soup, naan. The dining room decor looks a little more upscale, so a nice venue for a date night, but casually dressed patrons won't be turned away. Many carry out customers while I was there and the dining room was about 1/2 occupied. Large parking lot behind building, where entrance is as well. *Don't try to enter from Michigan Ave* Restrooms are in the hallway just outside of actual restaurant but only 20 feet from door. Come and enjoy the wonderful flavors of Indian cuisine! You won't be disappointed.

Dom P.

Yelp
I started off with an appetizer called Paana Puri. It was a cold appetizer with a very interesting flavor palette. Well, I don't think I would ever order it again. It was interesting enough to try once. For the main course I ordered the Chicken Vindaloo which also came with naan and Daal an Indian yellow lentil soup. The wait staff was very attentive And seemed genuinely friendly. The food portions were wonderful and allowed for a delightful revisit later that evening with leftovers. I would definitely give this restaurant another go. I found the surroundings quite charming and the overall atmosphere was nice. This is a real simple restaurant serving good food.

Yelp
I had to travel to Dearborn for a memorial service and came here for dinner on 6/14/24, although it took some time to find the entrance to the restaurant, the servers were friendly and attentive. The food was presented artistically and the taste was spot on! I honestly think the naan was some of the best I have ever had. I had Chicken Tikka, Garlic Naan and a Mango Lassi. The chicken was tender and the sauces that accompanied were tasty with deep flavor profiles that matched perfectly with those of the chicken so much so I asked for more sauce (I never do that) just to get to taste more of these flavors!! The Naan was so good there are no words, and the Lassi was authentic and tasty rich orange in color with a nice full mango flavor. If you are in Dearborn, I suggest you check this place out for great food and friendly service!

Ligia P.

Yelp
So flipping good. Definitely top Indian food in Michigan! We tried the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, malai chicken, tandoori vegetables, and of course the garlic naan! It was the perfect meal! I can't wait to eat the leftovers. Even my 6 year old loved it! And the service was top notch! Definitely a must visit if you're in the area!

Jose M.

Yelp
Dios mío, q delicia. The food is amazing, fresh, natural flavors, the spice is so good. Hard to find, inside of a little space this place is incredible, nice welcoming, very clean, very humble menu full of delicious food from India and Nepal. The garlic naan is amazing. Highly recommend. Service is very good.

Kim T.

Yelp
Very good full of flavor Food. Service was also good. We only waited about 1-2 minutes. Nice Ambiance

Linda S.

Yelp
The food was AMAZING! If you are looking Indian food this is the perfect place. I got the rustic kadai, and it was very delicious with the basmati rice and the naan. The Andhra curry was on the spicier side but it was manageable for anyone who has a reasonable spice tolerance and garlic naan Service was also fast and the interior was cute and modern. A lot of natural lighting and cute. I can only image how the restaurant looks at night with the downtown view around. Michigan Ave is a beautiful area to be!

Raffi E.

Yelp
Great food Everything I ordered was on point My favorite thing is lamb korma and it was the best I've had

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Delicious! Delighted to find this place . One of the top three Indian restaurants I have been to. The other 2 are in Dallas, TX & San Carlos, CA .

Megan P.

Yelp
Restaurant is so clean and cozy with a candle lit on the table and relaxing music. Service Is incredible! Always friendly and attentive. Food is amazing! Good portion sizes for reasonable price and delicious. Will keep coming back!

Maisha R.

Yelp
This place is so good!! Was looking for a new place to try for my mom's birthday this year and came across The Himalayan Flames. Our family really enjoyed this meal! The ambience and music were very nice when we walked in and our servers were extremely kind. We ordered a number of dishes to try family style. Overall, I will say the portions were much smaller than most South Asian restaurants we are used to, but the flavors were incredible and we didn't mind. This definitely felt like a more high end south Asian dining experience. Looking at the menu, it was exciting to see such a variety of options - there was definitely something for everyone! We started off with some shared appetizers, including the pani puri, gobi manchurian, papadum, and chicken egg drop soup. All of these were great! We also had the Sherpa sizzler, which would be a great portion size for one entree. Our other entrees included the reshami kabob, salmon tikka, lamb korma, and saag paneer. For sides we had the garlic naan and the Himalayan flames naan. Our favorites were definitely the salmon tikka and lamb korma! The flavors were amazing. We also preferred the garlic naan. Overall definitely want to come back to try some of the items from the snowy Himalayas menu!

Tim O.

Yelp
Very good , wonderful atmosphere, music was subtle, couple groups can tail easily, food selection was amazing , our first time ,won't be our last . ,Don't hesitate to to this restaurant.

Kevin F.

Yelp
The Shriimp Malai Curry was flavorful with good sized shimp. I would say bordering on jumbo. The bismanti rice was plentiful and perfectly cooked.

Paul N.

Yelp
This place is delicious!!! We ordered the garlic Naan. This is the best Naan we EVER had. The BEST... It was light, fluffy, and tasty. The entrees we're on point too. Sauces were delicious. It's always about the sauce when it comes to Indian food for us. We also ordered the Himalayan flames Naan. It was good. Very flavorful but we love the garlic Naan. Service was great. They knew the menu. They were nice and definitely very attentive. Our water glasses were never empty. Ambiance was nice too. They bring a candle light to your table as they sit you. Very cute place. Great date night for sure. Oh...tip is... There is a parking lot in the back and door is in the back right by the parking lot. Door is NOT on Michigan. Definitely recommend coming here. Absolutely the best Indian food we have had, and we love to eat Indian food.

Rebecca D.

Yelp
Fantastic food and service. So tasty! I enjoyed my leftovers. Pretty small place but no wait. Will definitely go back.

Kulsum H.

Yelp
Just ate here and the food was excellent. We came from Ann Arbor and had better Indian food here than any Indian/Nepali place in AA- was totally worth the drive. The Adraki Lamb Chops were so good that we all said we would come back just for them, and the tandoori chicken, malai chicken, chow mein, pani puri were all delicious. Service was great and the staff was also super nice. Definitely try this place!

Natalya O.

Yelp
Great food, had the lamb korma and basil naan, excellent. Note you can't enter from the front of the business, only the back, but if you are parking in the back lot I guess that's where you'll be coming from anyways

Alyse M.

Yelp
Best Indian in the area. Always fresh and great flavor. Butter chicken is definite order.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Great fresh food! Had the Himalayan dal, mint infused bread, avocado jhalmuri, and the methi malai paneer. Really glad we tried this restaurant when we were in Dearborn.

Rebecca Y.

Yelp
What a FABULOUS dinner! We stumbled upon this place due to it being right next to the hotel. Our server was incredibly thorough and explaining each dish and had recommendations on great dishes. We decided to split two entrees, an appetizer, and naan. The Chicken 555 was the perfect crispy with a hint of spice. I generally have a pretty low spice tolerance, but this was so incredibly good! It tasted phenomenal with a bowl of rice too! The garlic naan was so incredibly good. I still think about it to this day. They make it fresh and when it was coming towards our table, I could literally smell how good it was about to be... The Sherpa sizzler was a mix of vegetables and Indian & Chinese chow mein noodles. We have heard Indian & Chinese dishes are so good and when we saw that we could get that, we knew we had to try it. The chow mein itself was quite flavorful and vegetables were cooked just right. The only thing I would add would be that the two pieces of chicken could do with a little bit of flavor. I think that if they had mixed everything together, the flavors would infuse beautifully. Our last dish was the Methi Malai Chicken and it was so incredibly creamy. The thickness of the dish was so melt-y in your mouth! With a spoonful of rice with chicken and cream, it just was phenomenal. We ended up taking everything back to our hotel and ate it for leftovers. It still tasted phenomenal the day after! We were honestly shocked by the portions due to most Indian places giving smaller portions. If we're in Dearborn area again, I would absolutely come back and enjoy an intimate dinner here again! You can just tell how much love and care they put into each of their dishes. I can't wait to try their other dishes

Christie R.

Yelp
Super fresh food. Quick service and friendly staff. Please note if your not into spicy food discuss options with wait staff before ordering, they are helpful and willing to suggest dishes

Bhuvanshu S.

Yelp
Again, one of the best indian food joints here. Best butter chicken and tandoori. Have already been here 5 times and would recommend to all the foodies.

Lorraine P.

Yelp
I couldn't wait to get home and leave a review of this cute, clean, cozy, restaurant. Convenient parking in the back and walk thru to the restaurant that is right on bustling Michigan Avenue. The holiday lights on the surrounding businesses added to the ambience. We had the samosa (excellent), butter chicken (delicious) and tandoori chicken (out of this world)! The naan is to die for as is the onion kulcha! And the service was excellent. We can't wait to come back. Food was not over-spiced, very fresh, beautifully presented and generous portions. Priced right. Honestly, it's our new favorite ethnic restaurant (well worth the drive from Oakland county).

Zohabe B.

Yelp
Very solid food with a nice ambiance and good authentic flavors. While desi food is fairly easy to find, the Nepali menu items are a real treat, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

Akshay V.

Yelp
Delicious north indian food with nepalese influence. Goat Afghani and Pesto naan are highlights. Ample parking. Clean interiors. Service is adequately fast to get quick lunch during office break.

Fred M.

Yelp
Tried Himalayan Flames for the 1st time and I am impressed with the food. I ordered the Rustic Kadai and I recommend it. The service was good (carry out order). Not too hard to find and not too long of a wait for food. When you are hungry in Dearborn I recommend going to Himalayan Flames.

Ron R.

Yelp
The Himalayan Flame I have to say it is a little confusing getting in because the entrance is in the back even though it looks like you could enter from the front but when we got in this place looked and smelled amazing! All the different spices and food coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. We got seated right away and ordered drinks and an appetizer which was the Avocado Jhalmuri, I have to say that at first it tasted a little weird but after a few bites you knew it belonged there, it had a Rice Krispies feel to it, it definitely tasted like something you would eat for breakfast with a glass of Orange Juice. It had great flavors and different spices I have never had before, it definitely was worth the try. So I LOVE spicy food ( the more I sweat, the better I like it) so I ordered the Goat Peppered Fry and I ordered it extra spicy and it came with homemade bread, white rice and a lentil soup. The lentil soup is very delicious, it had a lot of spices and flavors that were just very flavorful and the bread is amazingly soft, tender and delicious and the white rice was cooked to perfection. Now let's get to the Goat, it was VERY delicious, it had a lot of good tasting spices, the meat was soft, juicy and chewy, however, it wasn't spicy at all, in fact I asked for extra spice and they gave me some hot sauce on a plate that was a little spicier but I have had ketchup spicier than this so if you are looking for a good spicy meal this isn't the meal and as far as the plate goes, also, I knew there was bone in because the meal description was "chunks of beef with bone" but it was literally chunks of bone with beef, I feel as if I got more bone than beef. All in all I was satisfied with the food but unsatisfied by the spiciness of the food, other than that the service was amazing, food was delicious, and bread was soft.

Nancy A.

Yelp
Just wanted to quickly update the economy has forced us to scale back dining out but I can tell you when we do have the ability to afford dinner out we're still going here to Himalayan Flame. We've been eating the shrimp malai because it's just so good. We get a couple of orders of naan and none of the sauce goes to waste ! Eat this food it makes you happy !!

Samantha M.

Yelp
When you drive through down town Dearborn you might be overwhelmed with all the food options. After all you can't go more than a few feet without bumping into a restaurant! However, this spot is definitely one of my top recommendations that you must try! The decor inside is intimate and lovely. A great spot for a date night with that someone special. For the appetizer we got the Avocado Jhalmuri. Which was a good choice. But I would recommend trying something different. It's aesthetically pleasing but there are a lot of other more adventure options if you want to try new things. For entrees I got the Lamb Chops which were char broiled to give them that smoky flavor. Which really made them unique compared to how other lamb chops are prepared. I can't wait to return and try other food menu items in the future. A lot of their items look delicious however, with so many restaurants around it's hard to make it back to one twice!

Michaela B.

Yelp
The korma was fantastic, as were the somosas. The garlic naan was a little soggy and cool, and the butter chicken was honestly the worst butter chicken I've ever had. We almost swore it wasn't actually butter chicken bc it didn't have that classic taste. I'd 10000% go back for the korma.

Leandro D.

Yelp
Best Indian food I had in a long time!! Service and ambiance was on point! Totally recommend!

Michael T.

Yelp
I was very impressed with the food at Himalayan Flames! Their Naan was tasty and had a wonderful texture. The location is a bit tough to find, and the decor is simple, but the staff was very friendly and I felt very welcomed in their space.

Erin C.

Yelp
I went here for Dearborn's restaurant week. The restaurant had a good selection for the combo. The staff was very accommodating and service was great. The food is always delicious. Every time I come here I ended up trying a little bit of everything on the menu.

Susan S.

Yelp
What an amazing gem! The service was amazing, our server answered our questions. We each shared our main dishes. The cauliflower appetizer was SO flavorful, this was a little more spicy than we thought. But I would absolutely order it again. This was probably the best korma I have ever eaten. Even my homemade version was not this flavorful. If you like Indian food you need to stop by. The I de was nice.

Kevin Y.

Yelp
I had the most simple, but yet one of the best fried rice in my life. Every bite is filled with complex flavor. The garlic naan is out of this world. This is a very authentic place.

Dan M.

Yelp
I keep coming back here and enjoy it everytime. The food is bursting with flavor and once I start I can't stop. I've had several curries the samosas naan breads etc. I always get a mango Lasse (basic I know), the chicken 65 is an explosion of flavor and a fantastic appetizer. Stop in here for amazing flavors, and a cool environment. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Mehruba A.

Yelp
I ordered the kabobs, butter chicken, and some naan. All dishes were plenty flavorful. The decor here is very cute and I love how they incorporated natural elements like plants and stone to tie everything together. Service was decent. Will definitely return.

Melissa S.

Yelp
"Indian food" as an umbrella term, does a serious injustice to the cuisine offered by the multitude of regions within the world's second most populated country. Westerners tend to do that a lot (see: Chinese food)... Himalayan Flames seems to have an underlying mission to bring a knowledge of specificity to the Dearborn area. The menu boasts flavors from Indian, Nepali & Tibetan cuisines and does it in a comfortable, but slightly upscale bistro setting. It is perfect for both date night or meeting friends for lunch, and the food... Let's get to it... My very favorite thing here is Rogan Josh... Likely translated as "Fiery Red Oil", it is slow braised lamb in a velvety, fragrant, and slightly spicy sauce served with basmati rice. It fills your stomach as it nourishes the soul (I'm not even exaggerating, try it yourself and see...) Then they have the audacity to offer Dal Himalayan (similar to Dal Makhani in my opinion). It is rich, satisfying, and vegetarian! The best choice for a starter is the Gobi Manchurian, think spicy chicken wings, but the "chicken" is Gobi (cauliflower) and the "spicy" is REALLY spicy, runny nose spicy, but in the way that puts you in a good mood (am I making sense?)... Whatever you choose will be delicious, but you must get yourself some Naan... It is soft, warm, always perfect, and the best way to enjoy the sauces and meats by tearing off a piece and scooping up a perfect bite.
