NYC New Restaurant Openings, December 2025 | Eater NY

"An ornately decorated Georgian restaurant promising an exploration of “30 centuries of Georgian flavor,” this November 22 opening serves khinkali, crispy suckling pig, duck breast with a sauce of rose and Georgian pennyroyal, fish aspic, and breads like khachapuri and mchadi, alongside Georgian wines like Rkatsiteli. It bills itself as part restaurant, part gallery, with portraits of Georgian monarchs on the walls and replicas of royal garments." - Tierney Plumb

The History - Review - Hell's Kitchen - New York - The Infatuation

"Do you like your khachapuri with a side of 30 centuries of Georgian culture? That’s the idea behind The History, a Hell’s Kitchen spot that’s lined with paintings of the kings and queens of Georgia. They’re also claiming they have the largest collection of Georgian wines in the country." - Will Hartman

The History restaurant far exceeded my expectations. The interior is a true masterpiece, leaving a lasting impression on its patrons. From the moment we stepped inside, the warm atmosphere and exceptional service made us feel at home. The dishes were expertly prepared, with each one showcasing the chef's skill. The Shameruli was a standout, and the Adjaruli Khachapuri was a delicious reminder of Georgia's rich culinary heritage. The desserts were works of art, with the Saperavi dessert being a highlight due to its impeccable balance of flavors and textures. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the outstanding dining experience. I highly recommend the restaurant! 🙏❤️

I recently visited this restaurant and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service is attentive, and every dish I tried was flavorful and beautifully presented. You can feel how much passion and care they put into their food. What makes this place truly special is the unique blend of traditional Georgian dance and live jazz music — an unexpected combination that creates an unforgettable vibe. It adds so much character and makes the entire evening feel magical and full of culture. It’s one of those places you’ll want to return to again and again — perfect for a cozy dinner, a special occasion, or simply to enjoy amazing food in a vibrant, artistic environment. Highly recommended!

A great restaurant in the theater district! The food was unique with interesting, unusual flavors (at least for those of us who are not familiar with Georgian cuisine). The decor is theatrical and warm. The service impeccable and friendly. We went there to celebrate my partner's birthday before a show and had a wonderful experience.

Amazing Georgian restaurant! I loved everything about my experience here. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was incredible, and the drinks were truly unforgettable. I tried their special cocktail as well as Georgian wine - both were exceptional. The restaurant beautifully represents Georgian history and culture, and the menu is impressively versatile. Even though they’ve only been open for about two weeks, it’s already one of my top favorites. They have great potential. Highly recommend!

Google
I join in the chorus of rave reviews for The History. With stunning, lavish but not ostentatious decor, interesting and tasty cocktails, scrumptious food, this is a spectacular addition to the HK restaurant scene. It's a touch exotic (I know of no other Georgian restaurants in the area) and it's not another 9th Ave Thai restaurant! I enjoyed an amuse bouche of a roll with what I will call caviar butter that had a wick in it. It was lighted and melted/softened the butter to spread generously over the roll, "A Sip of The History" cocktail, an eggplant roulade appetizer, the seared duck with rose and ombalo sauce, simply awesome traditional bread, honey cake and a pot of Jasmine tea. Being a Georgian cuisine neophyte, Tamara, my server, was a patient, amiable guide whose recommendations were all on the money. I will be back!

Google
The best Georgian restaurants I’ve visited in US! Everything about this place is just right. Only ambiance and environment is otherworldly. It’s a beautiful mix of Georgian culture mixed with New York’s luxury style fine dining. It’s full of Georgian artifacts and cultural treasures. The food is very delicious. Saying this as a Georgian, this is how I’d love my cuisine to be represented. If you need full Georgian culinary experience, then without a single doubt visit this place. And prices are very fair, I was positively surprised when I saw the bill. Everything about their service is amazing! Very friendly and attentive. Again, I loved everything about this place, will visit frequently and will make sure it’s a first place to recommend to people around me.

A Masterpiece of Culinary Art and Atmosphere “The History Restaurant” is easily one of the most extraordinary dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment you step inside, you realize this is not just a restaurant, it’s a living museum of taste, elegance, and design. The interior is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. Every corner feels like a carefully curated chapter from a different era: antique wooden arches, warm golden lighting, and walls adorned with historic artifacts that somehow feel both luxurious and alive. It’s the kind of place where you catch yourself staring around the room just as much as you enjoy your food. The service is impeccable, attentive without being intrusive, and genuinely passionate about the dishes they present. Each plate feels like a story, crafted with meticulous detail and unforgettable flavors. From appetizers to dessert, every bite carries a level of refinement that sets this place apart from every “fancy” restaurant I’ve visited before. If you’re looking for more than just dinner, if you want an experience , The History Restaurant is where you go. It’s rare to find a place that combines atmosphere, service, and cuisine so flawlessly. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates true elegance and unforgettable taste.

Google
Where do I start: From the moment you step in, you’ll be mind blown by the decor, by attention to details, level of service, smiling faces and huge history in front of you presented in absolutely incredible ways. Beautiful and stunning art everywhere adds to the flavor as well. Food.. I can’t express how good it was. We were 5 of us as family dinner and we couldn’t stop saying how good every bite was. Unbelievable quality food! True Georgian fusion. Incredible cocktails. And to be honest, way too underpriced! Oh, btw desserts are gonna send you straight to heaven. It’s that good

Yelp
From the moment I stepped through the doors of History, I was completely transported -- not just to a restaurant, but to Georgia itself. The experience here is unlike anything else in NYC. First, I have to highlight the hospitality. Anna, the host, was amazing, warm, attentive, and truly welcoming. The manager was equally incredible, making sure every detail was perfect. The service here is unique, professional, and genuinely attractive, adding to the luxury of the night. The entire evening felt like a cultural journey. The dancers were breathtaking, the jazz band set the perfect mood, and the food was absolutely delicious. These performances and experiences happen daily (except Mondays), so you really can't go wrong celebrating any occasion here. And the space? Stunning. They even have King and Queen private rooms that hold up to 20 or 12 guests, ideal for birthdays, celebrations, or intimate gatherings. The restaurant itself feels like a mini museum, with historical outfits on display, beautiful décor, and Georgian history written on the walls. I can honestly say: you will NOT be disappointed. History Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking incredible food, world-class hospitality, and a memorable cultural experience right in the heart of Midtown.

Yelp
Amazing experience from service to food. Attention to detail was impeccable. Definitely will be back when I'm on this side of the city.

Yelp
The worst Georgian restaurant I have ever been to. The experience was rotten from the moment we had an unpleasant interaction with a snooty hostess. Horrible service, where it took an hour to take our drink orders, bring water and get us napkins. The food was very bland, lamb chops were tiny (1 piece only) instead of usual 2-3. When owner asked us for a feedback - we told him the truth about the service, etc.. He got very agitated and angry and told us not to come back if we don't like it. We will take his advice... In summary, a tourist trap to avoid with very rude and slow service.
