The Best Restaurants and Bars in Oregon City | Eater Portland

"Just around the corner from the historic Stevens-Crawford House, this chandelier-lit restaurant has become an all-day favorite for date nights and friendly get-togethers. At brunch, start with small plates like ebleskivers or cheesy croquettes served with yellow curry before tucking into the Bloody Mary Benedict — bloody mary-braised short rib, mushrooms, and Fresno chile oil; alternatively, the fried chicken and waffle is a strong choice, accompanied by bourbon maple syrup and sweet potato whipped cream. By dinner, the restaurant switches over to dishes like seared sockeye salmon with toum mashed potatoes and a chile crisp burger packing two patties and fried onions on a cheese bun." - Michelle DeVona

For folks who have absolutely no dietary restrictions, this place is the bee's knees... Prior to making lifestyle changes in alignment with my body's desires, I'd easily give this place 5 stars. The food (quality and alchemy) has always been delicious, creative, and local and service has been pleasant, humble, and personable. Now that I eat primarily plant-based, gluten- and sugar-free, there are very little, if any options for me to choose from. Many of the breakfast dishes are quite unbalanced, reflecting traditional American breakfasts with large portions of bread (e.g., French toast and waffles) and sugar, and are lacking in substantial protein offerings. If I could make any recommendations, I would suggest adding more varieties of protein (esp. plant-based options) and offering more balanced meals honoring other types of dietary preferences such as diabetes-friendly, auto-immune friendly, and more. What I would give to see some buckwheat protein pancake, waffles, or gluten free French toast options on the menu!!! What kind of hive is The Hive, be it lacking in plant-based dishes? Bees thrive on nectar from plants! Let's honor the bees by balancing the menu with far more plant-based options 🥰😍💖

We were looking for a fun place with a trendy vibe to have a cocktail and The Hive was perfect. We sat in the bar lounge which was quieter than the main dining area. There are several high-backed booths and other tables for seating. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Chloe was our server/bar tender and she was super cheerful. The menu looked excellent, with locally sourced food items. I wished we were hungry, and thought several times about ordering food just to try something. We did try the Feeling Peaching and Embittered Summer cocktails. The peachy is served up and is a bourbon citrus sour drink. The other was my favorite, a smoky mezcal served over 1 large ice cube. Will definitely come back again.

If you’re looking for a spot with a cool and relaxing vibe, this is it. The signature cocktails are absolutely to die for, the food is always amazing, and I love that the menu changes from time to time to keep things fresh, but I wish they would bring back their brussel sprouts. On top of that, the service is consistently top-notch. Definitely a go-to place!

Met a friend for coffee. Triple espresso was great with no burnt flavor. Shared a couple appetizers that were just as delicious. Very nice atmosphere and just what I was looking for. Customer service was on point and very knowledgeable. Ended up staying a couple hours longer than anticipated with no pressure. Highly recommend.

Google
Delicious adventure today. The food does not come quickly but it tastes like it was carefully and thoughtfully made. Great sized portions. The sodas are crafted in-house and were tasty.

I was really excited to try this place. I had heard so many great things. The atmosphere and look were great and I enjoyed myself with my friend. I however was very disappointed in the food and timing of service though. I ordered a half salad and a cup of chowder. I asked what the soup of the day was and I was told that it was a salmon chowder. Pricing for a cup of chowder was shown on the menu. It took a bit to get our food and it wasn't very busy. When the soup came the salad was good enough but the soup was lukewarm and I wasn't even given a spoon for the chowder. When I finally got the server back it took him a while to get me a spoon. When the check came it was outrageous. I am not one to complain and I didn't say anything but I felt very misled. For the amount of food I got and how it was served I was charged an extra 14 dollars evidently for the small amount of salmon that was put in this "salmon chowder". That was never indicated or spoken. It was a waste of my money. I am sad in my first experience here. More than likely will not come again. UPDATE: When I asked the server what the "soup of the day" was he specifically said it was a "Salmon chowder" He never once said anything about a potato and leak soup. I never asked for an add on of Broccolini (which was NOT in the soup) and I did not ask for an add on of Salmon as the server indicated it was already in the soup. I took him at his word. I did speak with the owner about the issue after reading this and she was very kind, understanding and made the unfortunate mistake right. Which I highly value and appreciate.

Google
First, let me say the food was outstanding and the cocktails were delicious. We had a private room with a larger group, so we expected service to be a bit slower, but it was much slower than anticipated. The room was also extremely warm, which made it uncomfortable. Our server seemed annoyed and didn't appear to care much about our experience. All in all, we would come back again—just with a smaller group—because the food was worth it.

Google
I was looking forward to a bougie brunch in a cute restaurant and at first all was good. The coffee was great, the service was fine, but then the food let me down. I couldn’t eat my eggs benedict because the hollandaise sauce was overwhelmingly Tabasco flavored. I get it that a classic hollandaise might be boring, but people order classics for a reason - I expect a creamy, lemon/butter sauce, not just a ton of Tabasco, or whatever vinegar sauce they were using . The homemade biscuit pretty good if a tad gummy, and everything had too many herbs tossed in. Perfectly poached egg at least.

Yelp
This place NEVER fails to disappoint, we ordered the most expensive dishes on the menu the 'short rib' breakfast, the 'salmon eggs Benedict' & the 'Boring Benedict', honestly should have been about half the price, they were terrible, all the dishes were cold, and the veggies were completely burnt & shriveled beyond recognition, such a disappointment. Members of my group keep wanting to go to this restaurant, but it's truly terrible, I've never had good service and I've never had good food! When we arrived the host greeted us and proceeded to take a phone call and chit chat with potential customers about the restaurant, we were there on our lunch break & had a time limit, they do not care about your time or ensuring you have a good experience! Don't waste your time here! Review on 8/2022: Gave them a second chance and NOPE!! Let's just say if you don't "look the part" expect to be ignored!! Read into that what you will but I will say they definitely have a 'customer preference' and apparently I don't fit the bill... gone are the days of customer service, you don't get decent service if you don't match their preference!!! Just saying and I'm hoping more people start to figure this out!!! Unacceptable!!!

Yelp
Note: This is for the Hive cafe' not the restaurant. My wife and I stopped by the Hive wanting to try out this restaurant, however we noticed upon entering the restaurant that the acoustics were so bad we practically had to shout to be heard over the noise of the patrons, because of this and the wait, we decided to go to the cafe' instead. The cafe' while small had a selection of pastries, cookies and breakfast sandwiches. We ordered a breakfast sandwich, a piece of cranberry loaf, an espresso and their hand crafted cola. Even though there were not many patrons, the staff seemed to be distracted, each of our items were called out as they were ready, so our items arrived one by one over the space of 20 minutes. The first thing we noticed was that the espresso, while tasting good, was lukewarm. The cranberry loaf was good, but a little dry. When the breakfast sandwich arrived, the center egg portion was absolutely cold. We had to go and remind the server that we had ordered a cookie and again that we had ordered a cola. The staff seemed to be completely oblivious to their customers. When we finally received the craft cola, it turned out to be iced coffee. We again spoke with the staff and finally received the cola which we took to go since it had been twenty minutes and we had already consumed the rest of or order. The craft cola was tasty, but completely lacking in any effervescence and was essentially flat. I have to say that for almost $30, we were expecting at least decent service and hot food and coffee. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Maybe they were just having an off day, it happens. But in my opinion the cafe' is going to have to up their game if they want to have repeat customers. I would also suggest that the restaurant owner invest in some acoustic panels which would quite the noise and add some ambiance to the restaurant.

Yelp
We went for breakfast on a Sunday and they were able to get our group of 6 in fairly quickly! Everyone at The Hive Social was helpful and attentive to the table. I appreciated the unique flavors of each dish and fresh ingredients. Some of our favorites were the Bloody Mary Benedict, Aebleskivers and Bourbon Vanilla Cream French Toast! I definitely will be back to try out the restaurant during the evening and the speakeasy.

Yelp
The restaurant is pretty good but the cafe is abysmal. We were served curdled milk today in our coffees. The pastry was cold and hard, inedible. I'm telling you they need to do a heavy refresh on the cafe asap before it's gone. Just saying.

Yelp
Food- they have a small menu. I would say it's an interesting variety. I got the Boring Burger $18. It had what looked like 2 patties, mustard, cheese and pickles. The bun was decent. I'll highlight the bun as it didn't get soggy from the ingredients. Fries for side. The fries were ok- they just seemed more so like small pieces. Seasoned nicely. We also ordered the chicken sandwich. This was good however the strange part was the breast had a wing attached to it... not sure of the point of that... A lot of slaw on the chicken sandwich. Fries same as above. Brisket nachos- those were good however they needed more cheese and what I would assume was sour cream... brisket was nicely done. Chips were well salted. Shirley Temple- I think of old diner restaurant Shirley Temples- it was alright- but not for my taste. Needed a touch more of sweetness. Mock- Cocktail I can't recall the name but it was a pear purée, lime vanilla something. It was rather good. Service- the server was attentive to us. Made sure we had water, items ordered in a timely manner. We wanted window seating and they let us have that, which was nice. Atmosphere- overall it's a nice place. It would be cute for a first time date or a girls night out. There's plenty of room for seating. Would I go again? As cute as the place is, it's not for me. I feel like I wanted more choices menu wise, especially with the outside giant sign across the street showcasing food- I feel like the hype is high but reward not adequate enough.

Yelp
My Dad and I visited this restaurant because of a recommendation from a local. Our server was fabulous and very attentive. Both of our meals, Steak and Eggs and the Brisket Eggs Benedict (in the picture), were extraordinary. Great flavor and perfectly cooked. The music playing was family friendly and set the vibes along with our plush green suite seat in the bar room. Coffee was strong and flavorful and the chai was delicious. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Absolutely adorable spot with a cute little coffee spot attached! The place is well lit, clean, plenty of seating and had soft music in the background which is my favorite! Our server was wonderful, she checked in multiple times and always got us everything quickly. The food was a little costly, but for the quantity and quality I'd say it's well worth it. I would definitely travel back out that way just to have breakfast here again.

Yelp
The ambiance of this place is great! We enjoyed the drinks and very much and the over all experience. We came during their "Social Hour" which had a limited menu so we ordered tacos and nachos. I felt the tacos were a little underwhelming but not bad. Avocado was on the side for some reason and they just needed more sauce. Nachos were good but the toppings were just on a few of the top chips so we were left with a plate of plain chips after the first few bites. I still plan on coming back and look forward to trying their regular menu and more drinks!

Yelp
This place seems to be extremely hit or miss. The food is always amazing. The service is the hit or miss. the Hamic sodas are phenomenal as well as the mini seasonal entrées have been a few times for breakfast and dinner and have not found a disappointing meal yet. Dial in the staff and it would be fives stars!
google avatar

Catherine D.

Yelp
Such a cute spot! The food was definitely worth the price, on top of the bone marrow I did try the fried chicken and waffles, classic! Our server was super nice and checked on us periodically. I would love to come back to try their lunch/dinner menu.

Yelp
Met a dear friend alll the way out in Oregon City for brunch at The Hive. It was quite bustling at 11:30am on a Saturday. Everything looked delicious and it was quite difficult to choose, but we both settled on the biscuits and gravy (I got the sausage gravy and my friend got the caramelized onion gravy). I had a small Caesar while my friend got roasted vegetables. It took awhile for our food to arrive, but it gave us plenty of time to catch up and for me enjoy my Gingerbread Eggnog Latte. The table next to us was quite friendly. One of the gentlemen got the soup of the day and boy did it look delicious. He even offered to give me a taste and let me know that the kitchen would also provide with a sample. EPIC!!! The food, when it finally arrived, was delicious. I will say that I would've preferred my gravy to be warmer, but the chunks of sausage were plentiful. The biscuits were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My Caesar salad was amazing. No Romaine, just arugula and radicchio (my favorite!!!). My friend's roasted vegetables looked amazing. Delicate squash, anyone? I caved and got the $45 mimosa flight. The sparkling wine (15 Mile Vineyards) was delightful. The juices were... eh. We couldn't taste the caramel apple and the pumpkin... YANKEE CANDLE (grosssss!!!). The blood orange was quite delightful. Needless to say, we killed the bottle. Where we sat was very close to other tables, but I never felt crowded. My friend wears a hearing aid and did have some difficulty hearing me in the large room with many parties, but I just raised my voice (and probably the brows of neighboring tables). This place is definitely a solid brunch spot in Oregon City.

Yelp
Love this place, the food, drinks and the team are amazing ! We had a large of group and our server was so great and helpful ( we forgot her name ) but she did amazing took care of all us. We'll be back for sure ! Thank you guys !!

Yelp
I met 3 friends here for breakfast at 10am on a Sunday. It was bustling and full and pretty loud. Lovely vintage feeling decor. We got a table right away but service was a bit slow, it took almost 15 minutes for coffee and teas. Longer to order and for food to arrive. We were enjoying chatting so it was pleasant. I tried to order the chilaquiles but the server warned me it was molten hot. I pivoted to the papas con chorizo and was pleased. It was flavorful, fresh, and the avocado was perfect. I don't think we needed anything but the server did not swing by to check how things were.

Rj B.

Yelp
Food was middle of the road, The restaurant was clean and inviting, but the service could have had a little help. It's not a I have to go back restaurant IMO.
google avatar

Andrea B.

Yelp
Everything was really yummy here! Loved the chilaquiles, probably some of the best I've had. They've also got a really cute cafe next door with some delicious pastries.
google avatar

Robin J.

Yelp
Wow, this place is open early AND will serve lunch items at 8am! Our well behaved family group had a lot of fun reminiscing and catching up over "brunch." We tried many things. The Scotch egg was really great! Stop in and try this lovely spot not far from OC Downtown!
google avatar

Yelp
First time on a Saturday afternoon. Not too busy at all. Ordered coffee within 5 mins of being seated and it took about 20 mins or even more for my coffee. It wasn't even busy! Lots of empty tables. Food didn't take as long. Food was good. I recommend the chilaquiles if you like spicy food! Overall it was okay. Will I come back? Maybe but not for awhile. Parking is in the street.
google avatar

Yelp
While visiting Oregon city we came upon the cute little brunch spot. It was small but still plenty of seating. We were seated quickly on a busy Saturday morning. Service was mediocre, we didn't see our server much and took awhile for drinks and to take an order. We had the boring breakfast and steak and eggs. The boring breakfast was a descent portion however the potatoes were definitely Burndt, and only half were eatable. I ordered my steak medium with scrambled eggs and it was delicious and cooked perfectly ! With that being said we did wait an hour and 15 mins for our 2 breakfast dishes. Overall I would still give this place another chance, it was a busy weekend!

G S.

Yelp
Wife and I went here for brunch a while back after seeing a number of good reviews. It was busy so we were thinking we might have found a new spot. The brunch was good, not great. We checked out the dinner menu and figured next time we'd see if dinner was better. Stopped in last night with two other people and found it easier than I thought it would be to get a last minute reservation...hmm. Anyway, we were seated at the window which was fine other than the phone ringing constantly. No biggie. Took a while to get drinks. No biggie. We ordered fried gnocchi and lemon arancini for starters. Zero lemon flavor in the arancini and very little sauce to give it some help. 3 for $12? Mistake. The fried gnocchi was possibly the worst appetizer we've ever eaten. They couldn't have been more dense or dry. There's a small drizzle of crema that would have helped but it only covered maybe a half dozen gnocchi. Really really terrible...looked like a bowl of deer poop. Drinks were fine but tiny. Our guests ordered a few of the fancy drinks which come in very small martini glasses, at least one of which was $19. That would have been fine if I felt he enjoyed his drink. He didn't. Dinner arrived. One guest ordered the pulled pork board which sounds interesting but in reality it's a DIY pork sandwich for $23 with no fries. It was passable. Again...dry and very little flavor, smoke or otherwise. Our other guest ordered the NY steak medium rare. It came well done...not a bit of pink. I'm the one who brought us here so of course I'm embarrassed and he would rather just eat the steak as-is than wait who knows how long to get another one cooked correctly. My wife orders the pork chop and again...hammered. Risotto was dry. Nothing like knowing your wife and guests aren't very happy with the dinner you just took them to. If there was a bright spot it would be the stroganoff which I enjoyed but the damage was done here. This is not the first time we've not been happy with a place that gets good reviews and it's really sapped my confidence in them. I think people should have to post a receipt to prove they actually ate at a place they reviewed because I can't imagine someone giving The Hive a great review after having the same experience we've had twice now. I don't expect bargains when we go out to a nice dinner but when I spend a decent amount for a dinner for 4, it should be a good meal. Last night I felt embarrassed and ripped off. The place didn't seem as busy as the last time we were there which has me wondering if that's because other people are starting to catch on. We will not be returning.

Yelp
Splendid, cozy breakfast!! The vibe is on, the food is mouthwatering (especially the bone marrow w/rosemary dish- it's steeply priced, but so worth it!!), and the staff are a joy. Plenty of gluten-free options- I got a beef bowl with veggies and poached eggs. Plenty filling, and set me up for an awesome day of exploring the area and hiking. The matcha latte with almond milk was also a winner- not sweet, just how I like it, but very frothy and "earthy" flavored. It's the best breakfast place in the area!! Just go!!
google avatar

Dina E.

Yelp
Cute spot -- looks like it belongs in a boutique hotel. They had a pretty good, varied, fun brunch menu. Americano was good, service was friendly and had some good recommendations. I got the beef brisket hash - presentation was good, good flavor, but there was not enough meat and what was present, was a lot of fat ( duh brisket is fatty but I mean I had chunks of fat in lieu of meat). The hot sauce and ketchup provided were tasty, too...ketchup is a bit sweet but I think it was homemade. Hot sauce was green and legit. I'd definitely come back for brunch if I'm in the neighborhood. I noticed they had live music, too.
google avatar

Alisa G.

Yelp
Sure, service is a bit slow yet attentive. You're with friends! It's brunch! Relax and enjoy the ambience. For folks who say it's pricy, it's perfectly in line with PDX brunch pricing, which they're clearly emulating. I will say that $45 for a mimosa flight is a bit out of my price range, so I skipped it. See? Easy! It's a bit noisy, but my friend with hearing loss did just fine from our spot against the wall. Plus, it's called The Hive. It's buzzing, get it? I had brisket hash with purple fingerlings and lots of hatch chilis. It's exactly the kind of thing I love. My friend, who considers herself a fried chicken aficionado, said it was among the best she's eaten
google avatar

Mr. M.

Yelp
Amazing food, friendly service, what more can I say? There's nary a brunch spot in Clackamas County more amazing. It's very Portland like in its high quality.
google avatar

Maureen W.

Yelp
Food was ok. Potatoes were highlight of breakfast. Omelet was good but sat on a pool of grease. Biscuits were ok but definitely worth $3.50 each considering size. About the size of a little generic store bought biscuit. Love the concept of this restaurant. Might give it 1 more try at dinner time. Breakfast want good enough for me to come back for.

Tina L.

Yelp
The rib Benedict was delicious, nice presentation as well. Our server was attentive and pleasant, not rushing us chatty ladies to leave. I like that there were cushioned seats, and the live plants were a very nice touch.
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
This is a great brunch spot in Oregon City. (They also serve dinner but their evening hours seem to vary quite a bit, so definitely call ahead.) Very friendly service (though sometimes a little slow) and they have a nice selection of creative, tasty dish options. I've noticed some adjustments to the menu over the past couple years they've been open and it seems like they've perfected it! My only complaint is that it is VERY loud inside the main dining area (this is probably due to the openness and age of the space they've renovated) so I would recommend to get a table outside if the weather allows.

Kenneth K.

Yelp
Took my wife for her birthday. What a mistake. We wanted salt for our food and the waiter said can't you see I'm busy? Finally got up and went to the kitchen in search of salt. From that point on the waiter ignored us and someone else had to bring our check. Service was awful and the food not much better! Avoid!!
google avatar

Jeremy S.

Yelp
The quiche at the Hive used to be delicious. The quality of cooking is too inconsistent. These two photos are the variance I received for the exact same quiche. It's unbelievable that the same Chef produced both these products. We used to eat here twice a week. Now it's twice a month at best. My wife's poached eggs had to be sent back twice because all they can make is a hard boiled poached egg. No one cares.
google avatar

Isabel J.

Yelp
This place is super cute and decorated very well! I think you can make a reservation which I recommend for large groups for the weekend. I recommend starting with the aebelskievers which are almost like light pancake balls with lemon curd, they were delicious! They have very large portions too so definitely come hungry! I ordered the salmon Benny which I thought was just alright. The salmon was a bit dry and the collard greens were a little tough. However, my friend got Nashville hot chicken which was very crispy and delicious and just the right amount of heat. The biscuits and gravy was very flavorful and the chicken has perfect amount of crisp.
google avatar

Julie G.

Yelp
Very disappointed on many levels. 1) entered the hardware speakeasy at 5am. Did not receive drinks or acknowledgement until 5:30. 2) 5:45 pm dinner reservation for 6 people celebrating a birthday. Seating was uncomfortable, food slow and cold. Took 2 hours. No acknowledgement of service from server or manager. Do not recommend. Very sad.
google avatar

Abbey W.

Yelp
We love stopping here for a coffee- also a great place to meet friends to chat in the big chairs! Every time I have ordered my drink is consistent and the baristas are always nice and quick.
google avatar

Austynn J.

Yelp
I went with my grandma and it was so much fun. Our waiter was super nice and the whole experience was a 10/10! The food was incredible! The whole vibe of the place was very relaxing.
google avatar

Lydia K.

Yelp
First time at the Hive Social, heard a lot about it. We went down to the hardware store too. Service was good, Mostly friendly. Drinks were strong. I had an old fashion 8/10 and a Blind Monkey 4/10. The old fashion was good. Not a fan of the blind monkey. I was told it was Aperol forward and that is an accurate statement. A great date place.
google avatar

Sam K.

Yelp
This place felt like it was out of a Portlandia episode. I don't mean that to be rude, the vibe was cool and I appreciate the effort to minimize waste and treat animals well, but it would mean more if the food was good. Came in on a Monday morning around 9:00am and it was somewhat busy so that might explain the long wait time but... was it long. It was about an hour after we ordered we got our food, which, for $20 was not worth the wait. My family got other dishes like, boring breakfast, hot chicken, and a salmon eggs Benedict, which we were all excited for and the presentation was impressive, but once we bit into it, we were just disappointed. I ordered Fried Chicken and Waffle and ate some very slimy and tough chicken. The waffle wasn't anything special either and the sweet potato whipped cream felt unnecessary. I'm simple and would rather have the most unhealthy chicken, waffle, and whipped cream so maybe this place just isn't for me. But with an hour wait I was kind of expecting more... The waiter was very nice though and checked in on us often. They were able to answer our questions and tell us about how the restaurant makes the food. They had cool uniforms too. I think my Dad was a little rough on them so if they see this and remembers, sorry! I thought you were nice. ‍ All in all, wasn't terrible enough for me to not finish it so take that what you will.
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
They have hit a new wave of wonderful. If you by chance need an eye opening breakfast combo I highly recommend the Get Right cocktail and the perfectly spicy Chilaquiles. They are amazing separate but blow your tastebuds away together if you like spice. If not, their long fog has the best foam around and paired with the Churro Phat Stack...... perfection.
google avatar

Marcia S.

Yelp
I didn't stay, because the prices listed on the Yelp menu, were at least $5 per item lower than the prices on the actual menu. I know someone said they're matching Portland prices, but I live in Portland & don't pay $24 for a Benedict, or $20 for a chicken sandwich. Mostly, I wish they'd take down the misleading prices on their yelp post. I did try to go to the website, and that link doesn't work from Yelp. It was easy to leave because it was just me, but harder to do it with a party. Please, don't leave such wildly misleading info up on yelp!
google avatar

Nancy N.

Yelp
The food was extra salty. They get two stars for a tasty salad. We found the staff to be annoyed as well as rude at closing. We were unaware that they had closed at 3:00 pm and instead of letting us know, they started vacuuming. I sent a note to management to provide constructive feedback to only receive a defensive and condescending response. We won't return.
google avatar

Rich H.

Yelp
Reservation for 20 people way in advance 45 minutes to get drinks 2.5 hours to get food Went to bar to get drinks due to no wait staff asking us Watched multiple tables come and go while we waited I think there were tables that left because they were tired of waiting for food We obviously were not the priority. Felt like they left us for last. Restaurant was almost empty when we got there full in the middle and almost empty when we left. That should tell you something. Food was ok but nothing special 20% mandatory tip added to bill 3.5 fucking hours!!! Unacceptable... Manager did try to make it right at end. Had reservations at speak easy but chose to go someplace else after dinner. We had had enuf. Big revenue loss for them. They need to figure out food service time or reduce the number of people they sit at one time.

Yelp
Ambiance was very nice. Speak-easy with great lighting and design. Drinks were great. Tried a few cocktails and a beer with my wife. The food however we struggled with. The brisket nachos and verde creme fraiche wings were so spicy that we had to take a break from eating 5-6 times. Nothing indicated much spice in either dish. We can handle moderate spice but this was super spice. Can't taste anything once you lose the spice battle. Caesar salad had Parmesan shaker crumbles in 99% sure. The Nashville honey wings were a saving grace but the mouth was too hot for too long. We would come back for drinks 100%. The food, at this time no. The hottest food I've had in years.

Yelp
We wanted to try out the restaurant because we were interested in the venue upstairs for a wedding. The food was good but came out tepid. The service, slow and disrespectful. Slow: server service to the arrival of drinks, to the arrival of food to the check was a waiting game longer than I've ever experienced. We got out of there two hours after we arrived and they were NOT busy. Disrespectful: The server brought back the wrong change (check was 127.50, gave $200 in cash, we were short back $36.50). When we called her out she exclaimed "oh sorry, it's just so hard to find cash here, hardly anyone uses it" Like??? We aren't stupid, tell us and we'll pay by card? Tell us you don't have enough when you drop the change off, or even bring our 200 back and ask for a card?? It's not hard. Disgraceful. If we hadn't have counted the change she would've let us walk out without our money -over $30- and a tip as well. This paints the venue in an extremely bad light.

Yelp
Absolutely excellent breakfast spot! Some of the best waffles we've ever had! Kids also loved the pancakes.

Yelp
Wasn't impressed nor my spouse. Weird food, nothing we've ordered we like the few visits we've made. Coffees we ordered... meh! Nothing outstanding!

Yelp
We moved to Oregon City a little over four years ago, and love to venture out to breakfast restaurants. The Hive (at the time) was incredible. I loved this place so much, I considered them catering my wife's birthday. I must say though, within the last two years the service and the food has gone downhill. Especially the service. We've shown up for breakfast and virtually every table is empty and we still waited about 20 minutes to be seated. Then another 15 to 20 for the server to take our drink order or serve water. Usually when we dine here, it's the three of us in our family. The last time we there, two couples came in and were seated (same wait time) but here's the catch, both ordered after us and both received their food before me and my family. There was another family of about 6 who came in after us, and they received their food about the same time as we did. Meaning it took about 35 minutes to get our food. The server didn't come check on us one time. I understand that in some instances she could be busy, but there was hardly anyone inside the restaurant. I hope that they work on providing better service to the customers because it's really a nice place. Just need to get back to what it used to be.

Yelp
Service was very slow and not overly friendly. We finally got seated, waited 20 mins plus to have someone come to bring water. Customers that were seated after us, by at least 10-15 mins, received service and their food way before us. The food was good.

Yelp
I was excited to come across a brunch place in Oregon city! Been there twice and unfortunately the second time around really through me off. Food/Drinks: *The lavender mimosa was to die for. *The shrimp gumbo was not seasoned at all and too oily.. *Aebleskivers are very fluffy and mouth watering. I would definitely recommend. The waitstaff are very friendly, even though the service was a little slow. My biggest concern is that when I got home, I found out I was charged way more on the tip than I actually left on the card. Makes me a little bit uneasy knowing that can happen....I can understand a number being misinterpreted from a sloppy handwriting but the total amount should reflect the ACTUAL tip.

Yelp
I really hoped we would like this place! It is so cute inside, but the service was terrible and the food was mediocre. We came in at 5 pm snd there wasn't anyone else in the restaurant. They seated myself, my husband and my 6 year-old by the front door which was freezing (even though there were many empty tables during our visit), but worse than that our table was next to the host's table where we could tell things were not going well with reservations. Also, our waiter seemed to forget about us, possibly because we were in a corner behind 4 snake plants that were the visual "barrier" between us and that host's table. The appetizers were good and came out quickly, but otherwise the food was largely lukewarm, including the stroganoff which was kind of congealed. Such a bummer because I really hoped this would be our next "go to" dinner spot. No dice.

Yelp
We went out shopping early one rainy morning and decided to stop in here for breakfast. It's a charming place but very limited parking. We were lucky enough to find parking beside the building though. It's a farm to table type of place and in which we were happy to support. Ordered the biscuits with sausage gravy and poached eggs upon the server's recommendation. Our order arrived pretty quick and the food wasn't bad. Eggs were perfect but the gravy was a bit too sweet for my taste. Coffee wasn't too bad, slightly acidic. Service was good and a great ambiance in the place. Was pretty busy at 9:00am. Might be back to try the Benny.

Yelp
Always excellent food and drinks! Check out the tequila sunrise with Pinot Noir. The wine acts as a nice counterbalance to the grenadine. Plus it's just damn pretty!

Yelp
The atmosphere was chill and inviting. I'd recommend sitting in the back bar area if you want a more intimate dining experience. Drinks were on point. NASHVILLE HOT CHICKEN: Mary's Farm buttermilk fried chicken breast, pickles, herb-buttered challah toast, Alabama white sauce.
