Hollywood Brown Derby - Review - Hollywood Studios - Orlando - The Infatuation

"Hollywood Studios has changed a lot over the years, but the Brown Derby has been there since day one. It’s a replica of the famous Hollywood restaurant: walls are covered with caricatures of celebrities, the waitstaff is wearing tuxedos, and two Brown Derby originals—the cobb salad and slices of tart grapefruit cake—are on the menu. And if you’re looking for liquid courage before the Hollywood Tower of Terror, stop by the no reservation required outdoor lounge for the best cocktails in the park." - Jacqueline Dole

We were lucky enough to get the last booking of the day and get the top table for our party of seven. The food was the same quality as always: exceptional The service: the same. Special shout for the lady looking after the bar who witnessed our red wine accident, managed the clear up and had replacement in hand in a matter of seconds Recommend, as always, the filet Mignon, this is a quality cut of meat 🥩 Always remember it’s 2 credits on the dining plan Would we come back: Yes! Can we come back: No, because we are back in UK now 😢

This place was fun, it definitely fits the Hollywood Studios aesthetic and feels quite different from the rest of the Disney restaurants as a result. The thing I liked most here, actually wasn't the food but the drink flights they offered, getting three drinks for the price of one was not only a great value, but the variety and selection was really fun. The food was great here too. The portion sizes were smaller than I'd like, but the flavors were excellent and the desserts might have been the best of the trip (the Grapefruit cake is incredible). Service was fast and friendly.

Our family of 8 (7 adults and a toddler) dined here on a soggy day at Hollywood Studios. The restaurant is beautiful and exudes fine dining in a casual setting. Despite booking 30+ days out the only dinner reservation earlier than 8:30P was 4:20. We arrived to an almost empty dining room. The entire team was friendly but the food took an extremely long time to come out which was very hard on our little guy and caused stress for those with 6pm Lightning Lane passes. For that reason we would not return. The food was delicious. Those who ordered the filet thought it was outstanding as well as root beer brined pork chop, and the Halibut. The chopped salad was chopped too fine for the two who ordered it making it seem like mush. Don’t skip dessert!

Google
Visited the Brown Derby Lounge for dinner as the main restaurant required waiting up to 40 min at the time. We ordered an entree that included jasmine rice and the rice was very overly-cooked but we gave feedback and was given fresher rice so the service was still good. Was slightly disappointed at the food as they were quite pricey even for Disney standards but the quality did not match the price.

Now this restaurant was amazing!!!! I loved every part of it! From the atmosphere to the good food and amazing service I loved this place!!!! I've always wanted to come here because I'm a really big Disney Fan and this is a popular Disney Spot! It was so good and I highly recommended the Mailblue Beach Lemonade! It's super good! We also used the Disney Dining Plan here!!

I had an absolutely amazing time the food, the service all the staff there was 10 out of 10. The filet mignon is absolutely exquisite so is the crème brûlée. Highly recommend that a reservation is made when you go. This is some of the best food I’ve had at Disney. The staff are also fantastic accommodating to any food requests you may have.

This restaurant offers a quintessential Hollywood studio experience right in Orlando, where old-world Hollywood meets Disney. The unique building is decorated with caricatures of classic Hollywood stars, creating a fun and vibrant atmosphere. While it is quite expensive, the restaurant boasts an extensive cocktail list and a variety of beverages. It's particularly famous for its Cobb salad, which costs around $28 and is tossed at your table when you order it. Another popular item is the grapefruit cake, along with their renowned cocktails. Notably, the restaurant is the original creator of the Shirley Temple drink, which sells for approximately $6. Diners can also enjoy shrimp cocktails, pickled onions, and a variety of soups. The bread served here is exceptional and comes with house-made salted butter, making for a delightful treat. For those following a vegan diet, there are plant-based options available on the menu. With so many delicious and upscale dishes to choose from, just be prepared to invest in the experience.

Google
Very nice restaurant for Disney. Fancy feels, clean, quiet, comfortable, beautifully adorned, reservation required. The food is pretty good, some hit or miss, but very expensive, so I recommend sticking to appetizers or sharing if possible. The pear salad appetizer is great, so if not starving just get that. Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes are great. Chorizo stuffed chicken is decent, but a little dry if you ask me. Lamb was cooked well, but sauce was a bit too thick and salty for me. Great bread. I'm sure the steaks are good. Good place to relax and have a proper meal at Disney; just know you will pay dearly for it.

Yelp
First time I have had the opportunity to eat at one of the higher end restaurants in Hollywood Studios. Boy did it not disappoint. The restaurant is themed after a restaurant famous during the Hollywood Glamour era of the lates 20s/early 30s. The theming was on point as you felt like you had stepped into a Time Machine. The service was high class yet. Food was phenomenal. And after hearing countless times that I had to try the Cobb salad it certainly did not disappoint. So good I even went home to recreate it myself. Would definitely come here again.

Yelp
Everything food wise was okay... service was phenomenal- thank you Keith! My water was always full and he was very helpful with menu suggestions and kind / complimentary of our kiddos. We started off with a bread bowl and salted butter - delicious. The bread was slightly crusty on the outside, warm and soft and delicious on the inside. I ordered the famous Cobb salad and I'm so sorry, I must be picky or something because it was kind of disgusting. The dressing was a little off, the avocado didn't taste fresh, and I honestly had to closely examine the turkey crumbles because I couldn't identify what it was suppose to be and the texture was iffy. The au gratin potatoes I got as an extra side were good! They weren't so good I *have* to order them again, but they were tasty. They came in a cast iron ramekin- a neat feature! The kids seemed to like their kid steak meal. The chocolate cake I saw served looked decadent and delicious, but I'll maybe have to try that next time if we come back! The kids

Yelp
The Hollywood Brown Derby is a beautiful spot with a classic, elegant interior that sets the tone right away. Our waitress was super friendly and made the experience even better. The margarita flight--3 for $19--is a fantastic deal and a fun way to sample different flavors. We started with bread and butter, which was simple but delicious. The famous Cobb salad lived up to the hype--cold, crisp, and a very generous portion. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. We ended the meal with a rich chocolate cake for dessert--a sweet finish to a great meal.

Yelp
For being a walk in I was not expecting this experience! We waited maybe 20 mins but it was in a holiday (I thought it would've been busier being a holiday). I wasn't a huge fan of the charcuterie board being so minimal with the selection. It was still good, just not enough for its price! My salmon though was probably the best salmon I've had in a while. So delicious! I'm not usually a fan of chocolate, but that cake was addicting.

Yelp
We usually do a Fantasmic dining package reservation here because of the quality of their service and dishes. The food was pretty good and our server, Remy, was awesome. The desserts are huge but delightful. It was very busy and when we ordered, I mentioned the Fantasmic dining package that I thought I reserved. But it didn't book correctly and fortunately Remy was able to check with a manager and give us the tickets for the Fantasmic show. Thank you! In order to qualify for the VIP show tickets with prime seating, you are required to pay $83 per adult or $31 per child and select an entree, dessert, and drink.

Yelp
This is one of the most delicious filet's I have had at Disney. The meal as a whole was so good! The service here was very good. We loved the theming of this restaurant. It was so fun with all of the portraits. Until I tried the restaurant I was always happy to just go to the lounge. I now know that the restaurant is worth making a reservation for! I will definitely be back to try more.

Yelp
We made a reservation for lunch. We needed and craved real food, we don't like the park greasy fried quick service food. We checked in a little late but immediately got a text that our table was ready. Service was very slow at first. Nobody came to our table (the three hungry kids) for a good ten minutes. Kind of a bummer but we were ready to order once the server arrived. We got escargot, wild mushrooms, Cobb salad, chicken entree, kids steak. Our food was awesome. Best restaurant for sure with the best selection at Hollywood Studios. The chicken dish was our least favorite. It was like an Indian flavor meshed with Mexican mole, eh. Glad my daughter ate it because I didn't want to share my salad. The ambiance is dark yet casual. Caricatures adorn the walls.

Yelp
So good. I wish I could remember the name of our server because she was absolutely phenomenal. Friendly & timely. The food was amazing & the price is what you'd expect for a Disney amusement park. Also worth the price because it was delicious. Ambiance also is what you'd expect. Two thumbs all the way up!

Yelp
I have never missed a stop at The Hollywood Brown Derby when in WDW. It is truly stunning every time and while I try every Cobb salad on nearly every menu I encounter, none can match the one from Brown Derby. It is chopped to perfection and I'm always delighted to have it mixed for me tableside. As a note though: I made it a point to sample the escargot anytime I saw it on the menu and ordered it here. The snails were divine but the pastry was very tough! Just something to note. This was the first time I sat on the patio, sipping aperol spritzes and splitting a Cobb with my partner and snacking with our family! We had absolutely sublime service and wanted for nothing, even with them being quite busy just past the lunch hour! You also feel really tucked away out of the thoroughfare which I appreciated! I love the Brown Derby!
google avatar

Char A.

Yelp
Service was very nice and the ambiance was good. I ordered the Cobb salad and I was a bit disappointed. Salad was limp and over dressed. Aprole spritz were delicious. I will go back, just not for the Cobb salad.

Yelp
This was our first visit to the Brown Derby, an upscale restaurant at Hollywood Studios. Normally we'd just grab food someplace, so this was a treat for us. We popped in around lunchtime to see if they take walk ins and they did, but it was going to be an hour wait. The wait time for us turned out to be only 20 minutes, which pulled us out of line at Mickey's Runaway Railway. They should estimate better. Once inside I was fascinated by all the caricatures of old performers on the walls. They are simple drawings and I only recognized a few, but it takes you back to how the old Brown Derby had looked from decades ago. Our friendly and professional server was right over to get us started. We found it difficult to decide what to eat and finally settled on their Famous Cobb Salad. Famous because the owner from the original restaurant, named Bob Cobb, created the salad. We decided to split a salad and also get their Charcuterie Board, an assortment of meats and cheese. The food all arrived at the same time. The salad is actually mixed (tossed?) at the table. It all happened so quicky while we were moving things around on our small two-top I didn't get a picture or even see what the salad looked like before mixing. My photo shows the board and split salad where you only see a finely chopped pile of green. Tasted ok and it was pretty large to be able to split like we did. The charcuterie board was disappointing in that there wasn't too much to it. I like what they had, just wanted more. We went about as cheap as we could have for lunch, sharing the board and a single salad, yet it was still somewhat expensive. Glad we tried it.

Yelp
Love this spot!! If you walk up to then host outside they'll put you on the waitlist and they'll text you when the table is ready!! Also they have an outside bar you can get a drink and keep walking !! You can people watch from the patio, the margarita flight is lovely and the food is great !!! The servers were awesome too! I loved the shrimp cocktail, the bone marrow and everything I ate! Just beware it's a little pricy! But it's good

Yelp
Hollywood Studios isn't typically the go-to park for foodies, but the Brown Derby is doing their best to change that. This was one of our favorite on-property dining experiences during our recent Disney trip - and would absolutely be a restaurant I would re-visit in the future. We made a reservation through the My Disney Experience app 60 days in advance - although it appeared they were talking walk-ups when we checked in. We were seated right away, and anyone who's endured a summer in Florida will understand how grateful we were to get off of our feet and into some AC. Our server Charissa took excellent care of us, including offering several fun recommendations. The Brown Derby bread was one of the highlights of this meal - don't be afraid to ask for an extra basket with your meal! Between our group of five, we tried the Chorizo-stuffed Free-Range Chicken, the Root Beer-brined Pork, and the Grilled Ōra King Salmon, all of which were incredible. We also ordered the Famous Cobb Salad, which was tasty, although I was a little disappointed it wasn't dressed and mixed tableside as advertised. Maybe they were just busy? We shared a couple of desserts to commemorate our last day in the parks - the Decadent Chocolate Cake is enormous for the price, and definitely shareable. The Creme Brulee was also quite good - perfectly light and creamy.

Yelp
Food was good but I'm not sure if it was worth the price point. I ordered the escargot and halibut. The escargot was absolutely delicious! Cooked with plenty of flavor and pairs well with the bread. (Like molten lava when it first comes out so wait a bit). The halibut was cooked perfectly. It cuts like butter. The remainder of the dish fell short and was a little too citrusy for my taste. The coconut was barely present. The staff there are polite and extremely attentive. Our waiter was so helpful in helping us decide what to get. We walked out extremely stuffed.

Yelp
Food items: Crab Louie, bread with salted butter, vegan shepherds, pie, and cobb salad I thought we were going to fistfight each other over the crab Louie. It was so delicious. I love the way the olive oil and the sauce complement the sweetness of the crab meat and the nuttiness of the avocado. I could not tell you how pleased I was with the addition of regular capers and fried capers in a lightly dressed mix salad that was on top, I think was my favorite thing even though as soon as we pass the Brown Derby, I was drooling for the Cobb salad If you didn't know the Brown derby apparently invented the cob salad so it is absolutely the best Cobb salad that I've had hands-down. There's a little video I posted of the server mixing the salad upon table placement. My daughter ordered the vegan shepherds pie and it was so tasty. One could overlook the fact that there was no meat. There was only lentils. They were very flavorful perfectly cooked and served in the traditional layered or stacking style of a shepherds pie. Except the peas were on the side, and there was like a little sliver of fancy carrot on the side, but the mashed potatoes was on top of the lentils, and you definitely felt like you were eating a shepherds pie. And the bread holy moly the bread! It's kind of like the bread at capital Grille they put salt on the butter. The butter is very creamy and fresh and the bread is super hot with a crusty outside and a very, very warm tender inside. It just melts that butter right on down and you feel like you're eating something (manna, maybe? lol) from heaven. Service: absolutely wonderful. When in Hollywood Studios, it is imperative to have a meal at the Brown derby. The historical decor and the field of fine dining in the middle of a hot summers day refreshing to say the least. Ambiance: it's definitely kid friendly. There's two levels there's seating around the perimeter and then down in the dining floor area. There's also outdoor seating and the sidebar for people who don't want the full service experience. We were able to walk up without a reservation so that was fantastic. Every single thing that we ordered was, so delicious. I can't wait to go back! And if you're a passholder, you get that discount! Another review ginning it to you straight no chaser! Enjoy!

Yelp
Love this place! Such Old Hollywood vibes and A+++ service! Had such a charming and warm server with Charissa who took us through the menu. She was an absolute delight. We ordered the spoon bread, both fish dishes, the Cobb salad, a few desserts... and of course cocktails! I got their signature grapefruit cocktail and dessert and I liked them but they are on the tart side so if you're not into that don't order them. The portions were great for sharing, if you're already full from snacking throughout the day I highly recommend doing that. It's really great that a piece of Hollywood history is alive in this great tribute. You feel transported back to the golden days of Hollywood. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Of all the Disney Eats this is TRULY my fave the add on mushrooms were 10/10 the pork was AMAZING! Do it! The service was amazing they ALWAYS DO 10/10 but our server was 100/100!

Yelp
I came here for lunch on veteran's day with 2 adult family members. They have just changed up their menu so we had no idea what to expect. We tried the shrimp cocktail which was satisfactory in flavor but pricey for only 4 shrimp nestled in cocktail sauce. The crab louie was more filling but lacked flavoring in the actual crab there was no seasoning. The Mac n Cheese was perfectly cooked and gooey. The bread and butter was the best part honestly. I don't normally eat much gluten but the freshly made warm bread with the thick butter hit the spot. Not sure if I'd have a reason to come back besides the margaritas which were strong enough but not the usual potency I find around Disney. Our server was super enthusiastic and kind to bring us extra bread! I like how clean this restaurant is and the privacy and intimacy of dining inside with AC on a hot day.

Yelp
We really enjoyed Thanksgiving here. The ambience was really nice with the characters on the walls and old Hollywood vibes. I got the signature Shirley Temple, which came with the ice light up cube which was really cool. Then we all got the turkey platter for Thanksgiving, which was absolutely amazing. Came with all the fixings. For an appetizer, we got the crab and avocado, which was amazing. I will be back to try more things such as their signature Cobb salad, and grapefruit cheesecake which they are known for.

Yelp
Needing a place to have a date night while on vacation, we settled on this restaurant based on recommendation of family members. We had a reservation time, and as soon as we checked in were told they were running behind. We took this opportunity to peruse the local shops until we received a text that our table was ready. The restaurant was very warm inside, with one entire wall being covered in caricatures of celebrities. A mix of tables with chairs and booths allows them to accommodate a night out for two or a large group. We ordered the Crab Louie as an appetizer, but were surprised when our entrees arrived before it did. I hadn't reviewed the pictures before arriving, but was surprised that we were given two thin strips of crusty bread and not small bread rounds which would have made it easier to consume. We ordered the root-beer brined pork, which was absolutely fantastic. The chorizo-stuffed chicken was also good, but I almost wish I had also ordered the pork. My favorite part of the meal was the Orange-Hazelnut Chocolate cake. Beautifully laid out on a wooden board, the cake was delectable, and the accompanying dollops of hazelnut cream were dreamy. I didn't order the dessert because it was "free" of, but because it sounded like something I would enjoy and it wouldn't be heavy after a large meal. The service was fine, and our host was attentive. When returning to Disney in the future, I would recommend this place to others but would opt to explore other date night options personally.

Yelp
The Hollywood Brown Derby Is the perfect escape from a busy park day. The lounge area was great for people watching. The waitress was amazing and made sure we understood the menu at every turn. All her helpful questions kept us from making choice we me have regretted. The food was perfect the escargot were so warm and buttery and the puff pastry were a nice touch!

Yelp
We've tried to get a reservation, but the timing doesn't seems to work out. Reservations made on time and here we. The Hollywood heyday is embraced with framed caricatures of stars from a bygone era adorning the walls. Glad we checked in early, we waited about 20mins past our reservation time. Overall service was good - drink glasses were refilled frequently. The rolls were hot, fresh from the oven. My filet was cooked as ordered and delicious. The salmon was equally delicious and the sweet potato soufflé was outstanding. Enough food to sate our appetites with no room left for dessert. Expensive? Yes about $130 before taxes & discounts - with no adult beverages. But our meal, combined with the ambiance Disney created was an excellent experience

Yelp
If you have just one place to pick to enjoy a fine meal at Disney than you must, must, MUST, choose the Hollywood Brown Derby. The service is top notch and it's like you are actually eating at a fine dining restaurant, albeit with Goofy hats and Micky Mouse ears as head gear. The appetizer of the Crab Louie, was delicious! The table bread provided was soft, warm and amazing. As for our main courses, the Cobb salad with shrimp was pretty good. We also tried the Grilled Ora King Salmon, which was pretty tasty. My kiddo enjoyed chicken rice soup. The favorite and most tastiest dish was the Filet Mignon grilled medium rare. With Mushroom Risotto, Roasted Asparagus, Black Garlic Butter, Madeira Sauce. The meat was amazing. The risotto was on point! Not rubbery at, made to perfection, and highly recommended! We had an amazing dining experience here. I highly recommend that if you have the time and money for this exquisite meal you should reserve your table today!

Yelp
Great location and ambiance. Service a bit , how to say it, not like Disney used to be. None of that friendly Disney attitude, cold even impatient. I see a management problem. Cobb salads were too salty, I should have returned them. Generous portions, just way too salty. Grilled cod was very delicious and tender! Soup was warm, not hot. Coquettes were good. Sweet potato soufflé more like a $13 muffin, nice but not soufflé,really a fancy muffin. Most expensive muffin I have ever had. Best part of meal was the hot bread rolls with salted butter. That is pretty sad and expensive.

Yelp
The lounge outside is perfect!! The food was yummy. We also got the cheese and meat board. Our server was outstanding! Great place in hollywood studios!

Yelp
For a theme part restaurant, this is somewhat at the top. Giving 4 out of 5 stars as the service was pretty slow and the dining room wasn't that full. We had last minute reservations for lunch on a Thursday through the My Disney Experience app. They start you with complimentary bread and butter with brown smoked sea salt. The salt was so delicious we immediately went on Amazon and ordered some for home! I had their Famous Cobb Salad which truly was worth the stop alone. I love that everything is chopped so you get a bite of all the delicious ingredients each time. The Grapefruit Cake martini didn't live up to hype for me, I didn't enjoy the citrus and cream fusion. All in all, if I were to visit again I'd just go to their Lounge and not do the full sit down experience.
google avatar

Jennifer J.

Yelp
When you think Hollywood Studios dining everyone talks about The Hollywood Brown Derby. I walked in without a reservation as soon as they opened. Luckily I was able to seated within 5 minutes. The waiter took their time to get to our table even though the restaurant was empty. The bread was SPECTACULAR! It was hot, tasty, and the Hawaiian salted butter made it amazing! I was disappointed in the menu selection, I thought there would be more of a variety. I ordered the House=made Ravioli and chicken. Both dishes were nothing special. For an appetizer, entree, and drink it ran me about $75. I'm glad I tried this place, but won't be returning anytime soon.

Yelp

Yelp

Yelp
Hidden gem amongst Hollywood Studios When Yelp BFF and I planned this trip, we were between Hollywood Brown Derby or 50's Prime Time Cafe for lunch. The wait was super long at the Prime Time Cafe, so Hollywood Brown Derby it was! We shared an appetizer and pork chop. That pork chop was the most delicious thing I think I ate at Disney World. It was juicy, tender and paired very well with the puree and veggies. I was thoroughly impressed! Highly recommend making a reservation and putting this on your food rec for Hollywood Studios Thanks for reading my reviews! Let me know what I should try next!
google avatar

Kaitlyn K.

Yelp
One of the reasons my family loves Disney World is that they are so accommodating to allergies! We were visiting for my youngest sister's final cheer competition (March 2024) and made reservations for the Hollywood Brown Derby on Friday night. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful when addressing food allergies. The food itself was tasty but not anything insanely unique (which is low-key a draw of the Hollywood Brown Derby). The decor was a mix of American upscale without being black-tie formal. My mom loved her Cobb Salad and we all enjoyed our charcuterie starter. But the real star of the night was the flourless chocolate cake! I was decently full from my entree but I have zero regrets about being convinced by my family and waitress to give it a go! Gluten-free friends, if you order anything here, order the flourless chocolate cake!
google avatar

Matt K.

Yelp
Definitely among the best restaurant experiences at Disney. We paid for a prix fixe meal in order to get reserved seated for Fantasmic! Enjoyed escargot, cobb salad with shrimp no bacon, halibut, and split the grapefruit cake, something that dates from the early days of a the Brown Derby where a gossip columnist asked for a dessert that fit in with a fad diet of the era involving grapefruit. Great service, great atmosphere.

Yelp
Our server was amazing. She was knowledgeable and gave great tips. The restaurant was nice and loved the decor around it. In case it matters the restaurant was bi level which I didn't know but was still nice. The food and drinks were pretty tasty. We ordered the shrimp Mac and cheese and spoon bread. Both were very tasty, but we were told the portions were shareable but they were smaller than we expected. Also loved the margarita flight! Each flavor was tasty, but the blood orange was my favorite.

Yelp
This place caught my eye when we were in Hollywood studios walking around, I believe it's a famous restaurant in Hollywood? But it looked fancy and good, and after perusing the menu online we decided to eat here! First thing is make reservations! They fill up fast! We sat out on the patio and it was great for people watching and enjoying a meal! Started with the Margarita sampler, they were good a bit sweet for me. Next the spoon bread with lavender honey butter, delicious!! Loved this dish! It was like a corn bread with the butter melting on it, so good! Next was the filet, served so fancy, very yummy! Next was their famous Chopped salad, I got this and unfortunately didn't love it, everything was cut up so small it was like it threw the texture off, like nothing to chew? All in all we enjoyed our dinner here!

I was so excited to celebrate my birthday here and boy was I disappointed. I had their famous Cobb salad and truthfully, I rather eat chick-fil a Cobb salad. The waitress had an ehh attitude and ruin my birthday surprise. Overall did not enjoy it and would not be coming back when I'm at the parks.

Yelp
We managed to get a reservation for 7 the same day and they even were able to seat us early. I loved the old-timey vibes and the staff were all extremely nice. The complimentary warm rolls and salted butter were an awesome start and they had an extensive drink menu. We all ordered the Cobb salad because we've been told it was legendary and it did not disappoint. We didn't love the mushroom croquettes as they had a weird spice flavor and were extremely small. The filet was a little small too but very flavorful. The desserts didn't sound very enticing so we skipped that but would definitely come back.

Yelp
What a welcome oasis from the chaos that is Disney. I was surprised that there wasn't much of a wait. The menu is relatively true to the original in California. We had a friendly and attentive server who was also true to her "I'm at the original" character--I almost forgot I was at a theme park! We ordered drinks and a few appetizers since it was late for the lunch period, and we were still trying to cram in more activities. In retrospect, I would have stayed for a full lunch because the food was well prepared and nicely presented. The Crab Louie was the highlight, with lots of crab and very little filler. The martini and margarita flights were a nice bonus. This was a nice surprise in the middle of a hot Florida day.

Yelp
I've always been a staunch believer that theme park food is always more expensive and never as good when compared to price points outside the park. When it comes to the brown derby, this still holds true. This place is in Disney Hollywood studios and is themed after the famous Hollywood restaurant that no longer exists. The walls are decorated with pictures of famous actors. A reservation is definitely recommended as this place can get filled quickly. However, the nice thing is that even though we had a 60 minute wait we could just ride a few rides and come back. Now when it comes to the food I was a bit disappointed. We started with the crab Louie which was terrible. While it looked excellent it tasted like canned crab. Overly salty and soppy. The chicken and dumplings, while expensive, was very tasty. I'd say it was the star. The chicken was cooked very well. The service was great. Our waitress was quick with recommendations and great with refilling our waters.

Yelp
Great food and service. We loved Raoul! 10/10 experience. For entrees, we loved the salmon, halibut, and filet. Restaurant was accommodating with swaps for sides and modifications to remove sauce, etc. Best sit down restaurant at MGM!

Yelp
Heard about the famous Cobb salad so had to try. Unfortunately it was subpar. I didn't find any avocado in it and very little chicken.

Yelp
We had a great experience at the Hollywood Brown Derby! We made reservations via the My Disney Experience App the morning of our visit. We were given a two-person table, but requested a booth and they accommodated our request and we enjoyed our table. The restaurant is decorated with caricatures and is fun to look at! We had white linen tablecloths and napkins and it added to the elevated experience. Our server was super helpful and friendly and answered all of our questions and gave us great suggestions. We started with some cocktails. I had the Beverly blue tini and it was delightful. It was very sweet, but I love sweet drinks, so it was perfect for me. Our waiter brought out hot and soft rolls with yummy salted butter. I ate two! They were so good! Then we had the coquettes and they were also very good. The star of the show was the chopped Cobb salad. Our waiter mixed it up and served it for us. I loved that presentation! So fun. The salad was fresh and light - loved it! I can definitely see why it is a staple. It was such a nice lunch and fun to get away from the hustle and bustle of the park for a quiet and fancy lunch. I recommend it!

Yelp
During my latest Disney trip I wanted to try a mix of new eateries and tried and true favorites of mine. One spot that fell under the latter was The Hollywood Brown Derby - time and time again it has proven to be one of my favorite Disney dining spots. I was spending the first half of my day at the Studios, and thought it was a good idea to grab lunch here. Hollywood Brown Derby is located at the intersection of Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards near the front of the park. The restaurant is inspired by the Brown Derby chain of restaurants that originated in Los Angeles in the 1920s and is a homage to the golden era of Hollywood. Disney categorizes the Brown Derby as one of their Signature Restaurants, meaning that the aesthetics are more high-end and the price point is more expensive than a typical Disney sit-down restaurant. I really love the theming of this place - despite all the changes that have occurred in Studios over the years, the restaurant maintains the classic feel of the park from its early days. The dining area is spread across one large room with two tiers; the color scheme is mostly browns and maroons accented with dark woods and white linens. There are also caricatures of celebrities hung throughout the dining room, similar to Sardi's in NYC. They also have an outdoor lounge which I heard serves the same menu as well as some drinks. Before browsing the food, I was served some rolls which were super soft and came with salted butter - they're one of my favorite bread offerings on property. Even though I was a party of one, I got a basket of at least 5 rolls - I may have eaten three...or four. I also decided to get a drink - the Hollywood Lights looked good so I went with that. It was tasty - very summery with orange and pineapple flavors, and a color-changing ice cube for that extra flash. Onto the food - the majority of their lunch menu is entrees (I'm not sure if it differs from the dinner menu), with the only exception being the Cobb Salad. The salad is what the restaurant is famous for, and since I had never tried it before I decided to go for it; they offer a number of proteins to add to the salad and I chose chicken. The salad was really good - the dressing was full of flavor and the ingredients were super fresh. The salad is served unmixed, and they offer to toss it for you tableside which I think is a nice touch. Service was great, as expected from Disney; Jedediah did an excellent job making sure I was taken care of. Overall, I really enjoyed my lunch at the Brown Derby - the food, aesthetics, and service will always make this one of my favorite restaurants on WDW property.

Yelp
Although we had dined at the connected Brown Derby Lounge many times, this was our first time experiencing the full restaurant. Everything was fantastic! The biggest surprise of the meal was the Root Beer-Brined Pork. Such incredible flavor and the pork was cooked perfectly. The Cobb Salad is always a winner and the Spoon Bread is heavenly. The desserts were great as well, but the creme brulee was the standout. The citrus and cherry flavors were unique and paired so perfectly with the custard. Service was attentive even though the restaurant was incredibly crowded. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
We came here as my family made a reservation for our dining plan. I think overall the restaurant has an old Hollywood vibe and we enjoyed the atmosphere here. Their menu is pretty traditional and anyone and everyone could find something they like here. They're known for their pork chops which I ordered. Ironically I don't love pork but I wanted to try it for the experience. It was well marinated and perfect cooked. While I enjoyed it, I do think a steak or a piece of fish would be a better choice but that's totally on me. The rest of my family ordered their famous Cobb salad and Filet Mignon. I've tasted all of them and they all seemed happy with their choices. I would recommend this place for the experience as our server was very knowledgeable.

Yelp
The Brown Derby redeemed itself with me, but I learned it's best to sit outside and eat small plates instead of splashing out with a big meal. We walked up when they opened and were sat pretty quickly. Our server was excellent! I ordered iced tea and warned her that I drink a ridiculous amount of iced tea...she was quick to provide refills and even gave me tea in a to-go cup. We also had drinks which were freshly made and good. The last time I ate at Brown Derby I tried a martini sampler and it was gross with the drinks at room temperature. It was clear the bartender was lazy and made a few in advance, sacrificing quality. We ordered a variety of food to share...mushrooms, shrimp Mac and cheese, swordfish, Crab louie and bone marrow. We should have just gotten the crab Louie and mushrooms...they were the highlight of the meal! The swordfish had good flavor but desperately needed salt and acid to balance it. The shrimp Mac and cheese was meh and I didn't try the bone marrow but my husband liked it. The mushrooms were my favorite. I could have just had those and bread.

Yelp
Well living off a famous name sake in California gets your attention to give it a try. It's a classy establishment very well laid out and decorated. Lots of history on the walls and the throwback menu. We always get "that server" who's just somewhat off or inattentive as is our luck. As I watch other tables tended to during the meal with drink refills and small talk alas our waiter was MIA somewhere. 15+minutes waiting on a drink refill is just wrong especially in what's supposed to be a prime venue. The hot rolls served were very good, almost the best part of the meal. The Bloody Mary was also well done with a lime gin twist. Their famous tomato soup was ok but the spoon bread in my opinion was a must try. We both had the Famous Cobb Salad and it wasn't anything to write home about. I added the shrimp to mine which was an extra $10.00 for maybe 2-3 oz of chopped up shrimp, definitely not worth the cost and they in no way enhanced the salad. Sorry I'm not a fan they can do better

Yelp
The food was phenomenal! Just amazing! I need it to be known how good the food was. Salmon cooked to perfection, filet just right, and all the sides were to die for. Our server was the most charming man. Very nice, professional, knowledgeable to the restaurant and all it's offerings, and had great recommendations. Our drinks took slightly longer than one would expect and they didn't come until after our appetizer but I can understand that bartenders do get backed up! The food came at a very reasonable time from the time we ordered and our server checked in a couple times after we got our meal. However, it took us far too long to get our check. I will say, I think our server looked like he had way too many tables and it was dinner time. Otherwise, I'd go back, I hope to get the same server, and recommend if you're looking for amazing food and a play to sit while at Hollywood studios! Warning, it is on the higher price side but well worth it!

Yelp
This was the second time I have eaten at this restaurant. The first time was over 10 years ago and it did not go well. But decided to try again. My waiter was very friendly & helpful. I had the Cobb salad & a glass of wine. No complaints on either. My biggest issue with this restaurant is the inside almost feels like cafeteria seating. Everyone is so close due to the table arrangements & it's loud. If I go back again I'd try to do outside seating if available. There are not a lot of options on the menu. But the Cobb salad is one of their popular items.
