Neighborhood bar with a fireplace & peanut shells on the floor, plus a broad whiskey selection.
"This bar in the Mission makes you feel like tintype photographs and petticoats should still be a thing. The Victorian era is very much present as you get comfy next to the wood-burning fireplace, or sip on some whiskey or one of their excellent cocktails. When you get hungry, do what everyone else does: grab a basket of peanuts and feel free to throw your shells to the ground. The laid-back bar is also dog-friendly, so think about the tiny matching monocle you want to buy your pup now." - julia chen 1, lani conway
"The Homestead's been in business for practically 120 years, making for a history of skullduggery and shenanigans. The bar’s age-related nicks and scratches all look positively charming when lit by the warm glow of its fireplace." - Paolo Bicchieri, Dianne de Guzman

"This saloon in the Mission is historic, cozy, and decorated like an old Victorian bedroom. So if you and your date feel like meeting up at a vintage place that feels drenched in bourbon and whiskey, head here. But if not, Homestead is still an awesome, casual bar that serves great cocktails, allows you to bring your dog, and lets you throw your peanut shells on the floor." - Lani Conway
"Hanging out in a bar that looks like a Victorian-era parlor will make you want to swirl a glass of bourbon, neat, all night long. You unfortunately can only do that until 2am at this spot in the Mission, but that’s still plenty of time to drink next to the small wood-burning stove, look up and think tipsy/cozy thoughts like how tin ceilings should really come back in style." - Lani Conway, Will Kamensky
