"Looking for a market you can shop at during your lunch break? Mark your calendar for this Downtown weekday farmers market at the Allen Center. Starting on May 7, the Allen Center’s green space, the Acre, will host a public market from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month. Stalls will be filled with locally sourced produce, grass-fed meat, cold-pressed juice, baked goods, jams, and specialty products, in addition to fun activities, giveaways, and fresh lunch options that can make any lunch break feel like a getaway. Best of all, during hot summer days, the market migrates indoors to the One Allen Center lobby so you won’t be shopping in the heat." - Brianna Griff
"When: everyday from 6am to 7pm Formerly known as Canino’s, the Houston Farmers Market 18-acre complex is more of a farmers market, meets a flea market, meets a grocery store. And it’s open all week long. Many outdoor booths and multiple vendors sell herbal tea blends, discounted tropical fruit, bulk spices, and giant molcajetes. There’s also a butcher shop with cuts of Texas wagyu, an outpost of the Viet-Cajun Crawfish And Noodles, and usually a musical act playing to families hanging out on the back lawn." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene, julie takahashi

"The Avilas will open a second location at Houston Farmers Market early next year around February. The 5,000-square-foot outpost will replace original Canino Produce’s prominent space at 2520 Airline Drive in the front of the market, where it will continue selling its many retail products and barbecue." - Brittany Britto Garley
