The 16 Best Seafood Restaurants In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The Hummingbird is quirky. This casual Peruvian-Japanese ceviche spot in Echo Park has corkboard ceilings and love notes scribbled on its pink-lit subway tile walls. A piano and a mic are set up in the back and put to use by random diners. But when you think you’ve got the scrappy arthouse operation pegged, the most beautiful yellowtail sashimi you’ve ever seen lands in front of you. Created by the chef behind splashy spots like Rosaline and Causita, the excellent Nikkei-influenced seafood dishes here wouldn't look out of place at a high-end spot on Restaurant Row, save for their reasonable prices. That includes hefty scallop handrolls with wasabi and jalapeno paste, salmon tiradito accented with bright orange vinegarette, and shrimp dumplings you wrap in sesame leaves like Korean ssam." - brant cox, sylvio martins

Living here has been a great experience so far. The building is brand new, and it really shows — everything is spotless, from the hallways to the elevators to the amenities. My unit was incredibly clean on move-in day, and I love the modern finishes and open layout. It’s also surprisingly quiet, which was a big deal for me when apartment hunting. Even with neighbors around, I hardly hear a thing. It feels peaceful and private, which is something I truly value after a long day. The staff have also been amazing.

I just moved into this new apartment building a few weeks ago, and I’m honestly so glad I chose it. The place is super modern—everything is brand new, from the appliances to the flooring, and the natural light in the unit makes it feel really open and airy. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into the design. What really stood out to me, though, was how helpful and friendly the building manager Amanda has been. She made the whole move-in process feel easy and stress-free, and any time I’ve had a question or needed something, she's been quick to respond and genuinely kind about it. The building itself is super quiet, the common areas are clean and inviting, and I love having access to the rooftop and gym. It’s already starting to feel like home.

The place looks very nice and is reasonably priced. However, it appears to be unsuitable for international students. I tried to reserve a unit by providing my I-20 and a bank account statement showing my deposit, but my application was still not accepted because I was asked to have a U.S.-based co-signer. I even offered an alternative, such as increasing the security deposit, yet I was still unable to rent the place due to the lack of a U.S.-based co-signer.

I recently moved here and have had a positive experience with Amanda. The building is nice and a close distance to the 101 freeway. It’s brand new so still some minor touches taking place still which is expected. Ownership does have a weird a parking system that I don’t fully understand (studios not allowed to rent open spaces as they are pre-assigned to 1-2bdr only. Ownership could make more $$ by allowing studios to rent those compact spaces). Spots being pre-assigned is also odd. I wish you could choose your own parking space as there is barely anyone who lives there right now. They have a nice roof top with lounge chairs and ample seating. I’d suggest adding some type of canopies or shading in some areas; maybe even a gas fire pit for residents to enjoy at night. There is a 5th floor outdoor space that has had scaffolding since February when I first toured and was told a local artist was painting a mural there but seems to have been no movement on it. Overall, I enjoy the property and apartment.
