Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week | Eater LA

"For afternoon tea I enjoyed dressing up and lingering in a well-appointed dining room with excellent tea and Champagne: the tower of sweet and savory bites included classic finger sandwiches (cucumber; tarragon chicken salad; smoked salmon dill cream cheese with caviar), a deviled egg salad in a dainty phyllo cup, and a basket of scones—perfect for a sunny afternoon among the historic gardens, though reservations are tough to get." - Eater Staff

The very beautiful place! I love it very much. The good museum, the beautiful Chinese and Japanese gardens, the big rose garden and another botanical gardens. The good tea cafe. There's a tea restaurant but it was too expensive for me: near $60 per person. And unexpectedly nice souvenir store! Not cheap but all are very good and something even are elegant! I recommend to have enough time for this store when you visit this place. They changed an exposition and I like to visit it every time.

The Huntington Japanese Garden is a place where you can fully immerse yourself in the peace and beauty of nature. Manicured plants, charming bridges, and serene ponds create a truly special atmosphere. The Japanese Garden is just one of the many gems at The Huntington, which also includes the Chinese Garden, the Rose Garden, tropical greenhouses, and art galleries with unique exhibitions. The grounds are vast, and each corner has its own mood and charm, so it’s worth allowing plenty of time to explore. I recommend buying tickets in advance to plan your visit and enjoy it without rushing. Highly recommended!

Incredible! I have never seen anything like this. Bonsai plants are beyond the wildest imagination. I couldn't believe they were real. What an heroic effort by the staff! Thank you so much!

Absolutely fantastic place to visit. Admissions fee to be paid, but worth it Huge grounds, plenty of art -American and European- to be seen Lovely gift shop (huge) and plenty of cafés Bring at least 3-4 hours of time with you

An amazing place with lots to see. The most impressive gardens are further way from the entrance so be sure to save time and energy for these: the desert garden of succulents, the historic, vast and charming (and very authentic) Japanese garden, and the still quite new and huge Chinese gardens, which include a gallery, and a useful recharging spot in the form of an Asian cafe...

We've been here several times and think the gardens are absolutely beautiful. It was busy when we went, but we still enjoyed our visits. This past visit, we wanted to see the roses in bloom. We ate at the jade court. We ordered the gyoza, veggie lo mein, and cucumber salad. Very yummy. FYI, a sweet place for Pokemon Go enthusiast. A lot of Pokemon Stops, plus we took a few pictures of them.

What can I say—it always feels like the first time! As a nature lover, this experience is truly my cup of tea. I recently brought a friend for her very first visit, and she left completely satisfied and deeply relaxed. It's the perfect escape for anyone looking to unwind and connect with nature. Highly recommended!

I have always enjoyed the gardens more than the art galleries. So many inviting paths to stroll through a lush variety of various species of trees and plants. The Japanese Gardens are but one of the many features the Huntington has to offer.
