Where to find classic restaurants and bars in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"You be might headed to the Hush Puppy, but it’s probably catfish on your mind at this 7,700-square-foot dinner-only institution in business since 1975. Despite the limited hours, the Hush Puppy draws a busy repeat clientele, whether served inside the rustic Western interior or using the handy drive-thru. House specialties include frog legs, seafood gumbo with turkey sausage, snow crab, char-broiled chicken, and themed all-you-can-eat specials. Alligator po-boys are available for the adventurous and the restaurant warns you could possibly be “blessed with a pearl in the fried oysters. This will bring you good luck, but be careful not to break a tooth.”" - Janna Karel

Where to find Creole food in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Long established in Las Vegas, The Hush Puppy has daily all-you-can-eat specials, with shrimp on Tuesdays, barbecue ribs on Wednesday, the seafood platter on Thursday, and catfish and shrimp on every other day. If that isn’t enough of an incentive to try the food here, come for house specialties such as the hush puppies and the fried green tomatoes, served with a house remoulade sauce. Also on Nellis Boulevard. Both have a drive-thru and takeout." - Susan Stapleton

Vintage restaurants still open for takeout and delivery in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Both Hush Puppy restaurants are making good use of their drive-thru windows and also offering takeout. Serving catfish, po’boys, and namesake hush-puppies since 1975, customers can take advantage of family packs and meal deals, plus order oysters, alligator tails and classic Southern sides. Contact the Sunrise location at 1820 N. Nellis Blvd. at 702-363-5988, or call 702-363-5988 for the latest information on the westside location at 7185 W. Charleston Blvd." - Bradley Martin

Where to find Southern food restaurants in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"In the ever-changing Las Vegas culinary world, it takes a lot to stay in business for multiple decades. Hush Puppy has been around since 1975 and is owned and operated by a family from Texarkana, Arkansas. The two locations serve alligator tail, fried frog legs, blackened tilapia, and of course, hush puppies." - Krista Diamond

Google
We decided to visit an old childhood favorite restaurant. The surface was great everybody that worked there was wonderful. The food however was not very good. The fried green tomatoes were orange. The fried fish was overcooked, hard and rubbery. I will go back and try again sometime and maybe it will be better. But for the price of the dishes and the quality of food they put out, absolutely not worth it. Still, the employees were amazing.

We had to wait 30 minutes after ordering our food to be served. The food was not hot when it got to our table. The salad was served in large pieces in a small bowl, unable to cut the salad without spilling outside the bowl. The service was awful, the waitress never came by after she took our orders. The food was not up to par, my chicken tenders were the toughest I've ever had, my husband's fried oysters were cool when served and my son's blackened chicken was a mess and didn't taste good, after a few bites did not want it any more. We stopped our server as she was passing by and my husband asked for more water. The server brought the whole pitcher of water, plopped it on the table and rushed off. This was on a Tuesday evening at 5:30 and the restaurant was almost empty so she did not have many customer tables. This is not the Hush Puppy's we enjoyed a few years ago. Very disappointed with the service, food and cost. The four dinners, without drinks (the server did not even ask what we would like to drink) cost $133.00 which seemed outragious for food not up to par. We will not be going back again.

Having been born and raised in Western North Carolina growing up eating southern food. I can say this is the real deal fantastic food, good service, nice and clean dining facilities. I’ll be back.

Google
Super disappointed this visit. I’ve come here my whole life, and it’s noticeably gone down hill but the food kept us coming back. Tonight started off fine, no wait, sat immediately and brought our waters. I think the waitress forgot about us as we were sat in a whole separate dining area than her other tables, and waited for at least 10 minutes before she came to the table. Okay, fine. Started taking our orders and proceeded to tell us they were out of several staples items on the menu. Red flag 1. We stayed anyways and waited for our food. Salads came out first, watery and was just gross. Red flag 2. Out entrees came out and i’ve never been so disappointed or disgusted by the food. Catfish was gross. Collard greens (one of my favorite things in general), disgusting. The only redeeming edible thing was the hush puppies themselves. Both my friend and I didn’t touch our plates. The server never came back. I requested a manager and waited almost 10 minutes before I got up and asked for him again. Waited another 5-8 minutes before he came to the front finally after her texting and calling him. He did the right thing and saw we didn’t touch our plates and let us go free of charge. But im so disappointed as this has been a family favorite for so many years. I hope they get it figured out.

I’ve visited this location and the former location on Nellis (that was the better location in my opinion), but ownership has changed and you can definitely tell by the quality of the food. We ordered the catfish dinner and I had the catfish and shrimp creole dinner. The fried fish was bland at best. It lacked seasoning and flavor. My dish was ok but nothing to brag about. The portion size of my dish allowed me to have leftovers. It did come with a salad and hush puppies. Honestly, the hush puppies were the best part of the meal. The service was also kind of slow which was odd being that when we came there were only two tables seated and we were one of the two.

Google
$80+ Disappointment!! 9/27/2025 Gumbo: Great Flavor! (Imitation Crab. Rice over cooked, gummy texture served on the side) Hushpuppies: How does a restaurant flub its namesake..... The oblong shape is cute. Meal texture is strangely paste like and wet. Fish: They do not serve CATFISH!! Only Swai. Disregard the wordplay the server uses, and the menu indications. It's NOT CATFISH!! Baked Potato: Had high hopes, self assemble required, all toppings served in small cups ....MOLDED INSIDE! Mac and Cheese: Puddle of Noodles and Powdered Cheese. Shrimp: Frozen Chicken Tenders: Imagine peeling a banana only to reveal play dough. Salad: Basic House Salad Saturday Evening, parking lot empty, approximately 5 tables including ours, 1 Server on duty ( probably one of the owners), the mystery manager never appeared to discuss this farce of a dining experience.

Google
We used to come here all the time. Place would be packed with patrons. It's definitely not like that these days..well at least the day I went. The place was completely empty only 3 parties were dining in at the time totalling up to 7 people. Service was great we were seated right away because there was no wait lol. The food has gone downhill all except the fish & crab & hush puppies. Everything else not worth the price. They have lost their flavor. The food had no seasoning very little or none. And the prices have gone up a lot..definitely need Gordon Ramsey to come in and turn that thing around. That was a neighborhood stable in vegas and for that place to be dead the way it was on a Sunday speaks volumes. There was a time you couldn't find a parking spot. I think a major upgrade to the menu new cooks or some because I'm telling you I was really disappointed in the food. Service was great..but the food has gone downhill. Crazy thing is I saw a commercial advertising to come visit & it brought back memories so wanted to give it a try. Well I will say the advertising work. But...will I return? Probably not if i do its to maybe to get some crab. Call Gordon he can get yall back on the map.

Google
Really awesome people run this place and work here. The service is excellent and the southern food is delicious too. It's mostly fried foods on the menu with lots of seafood choices. They do offer a decent steak and burger. Their menu has a good variety of sides to choose from and get a good side salad with your meal. The sweet potato pie was served warm and was amazing.

Yelp
The Hush Puppy is a restaurant that if you have not been and you love fried fish, green tomatoes and southern food this is your spot. My hubby loves this establishment and when in the area he finds his way here . They are usually very busy but we did get a night that we had the restaurant to ourselves . I do recommend if you have a larger crowd during the weekend to call and make a reservation. The waitresses there are so attentive and great to work with and so personable. They have nightly specials for all you can eat fish and other options. The portion sizes of there regular dishes are very large as well and all their food is delicious. Can't forgot this kids they have options for the kids and there meal sizes are large as well too ! Definitely a must to stop by you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Sunday) I'm sitting in the drive-thru of this establishment, and according to their website they open at 3 PM. However, no one came to the intercom to take my order for nearly 20 minutes. This place used to be a great restaurant with decent service, but today was definitely a disappointment. Slightly let down!

Yelp
Ok, ordered the catfish meal and it was farm raised, usually thicker.... But once I made it home, the fish was stretchy and tough like and had a hollow taste, feel and look. Not to mention it was SUPER GREASY as well as the hush puppies. I had to squeeze the fish and hush puppies in quite a few paper towels to eat. I know it's fried but come on.... No one drained this food. The male at drive thru was nice but this is a review on the food that has not only increased in price but has now seemed to go down on quality and care of food. It was not good like usual and the last time there I thought maybe it was an off day, which was months ago, maybe 6 months or longer, but no the fish is strange, hollow and stretchy like.... Hard to explain but this will now be my last time. Maybe that's why I don't see any lines anymore. I would not recommend. I had to throw away over half of my food. The tartar sauce is still great though!

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Fried Green Tomatoes were cooked to perfection. The Catfish had a clean taste and perfectly seasoned. Sweet potatoe pie was wonderful.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. The Hush Puppy used to be delicious. My experience tonight was terrible. I couldn't eat anything I ordered except the baked potato. The greens were terrible. The shrimp was green. The corn on the cob was literally ice cold. I couldn't bring myself to ingest the catfish. I am saddened at how far down hill this place has gone over the years.

Yelp
I went here 5 years ago when it was actually good.. now it sucks and is gross.. what a shame things always get worse not better.. good luck keeping customers .. the rice and beans had almost zero flavor.. the salad was lame the fish mostly breading.. and gross greasy taste.. next time I'll pass

Yelp
I've been to this location years ago with a friend and I remember their salad bar. They had all you could eat fish at that time. This was years back. They still have the all you can eat fish on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The salad bar is no longer available from what I've read online. Fast forward to 2025, years later, I decided to have a delivery. Earlier, I ordered The Hush Puppy on Door Dash. I had the Cat fish & shrimp combo in one, That came with the fries, 6 hush puppies, 3 pieces of big fried tilapia fish, and 5 fried shrimp. And cole slow. Tarter sauces and cocktail sauce, and honey butter. I guess I forgot how good their food was. Wow, it was a good portion and freshed. I was in all. My only issue is that, they forgot the coleslaw. Lol But no worries. I still enjoyed their food. I will order from them again, soon. I wanna try their desserts.

Yelp
Sunday dinner.? I started coming to the restaurant in 1978. This was the edge of the city but we came in droves for those meals. The business has changed but I come back every few months because it had been the only place I could get catfish. Please know the restaurant is the original. The restroom, dining area, menu but not the chefs. I'm bummed. The fish isn't the same catfish. I was just here 6 months ago. The hot sauce is different. The waitress wouldn't bring the manager out. I informed her I thought we bartered the incorrect item if it was possible to get the other catfish. Farm or fresh water. Was it possible to get the version I don't order. Adam finally came from the back to the front where I was standing with He asked if this was my plate. I wasn't sure if he was the Manager because he walked the around the restaurant with the same pair of gloves. Touching everything. He informed me he was the Manager. This fish was the only catfish version the alternative was Swae. What I had eaten here for the 46 years before now was Swae. Adam was hostile, aggressive, defensive because I knew there was a difference in the fish, although I acknowledged I may have made a mistake. Adam seemed uncomfortable. He said the answer was to take the order off the ticket however, all my family had a complaint about the fish. I asked him to not proceed in this manner, but he insisted. I proceeded to my seat while beginning to write my review. Maybe he noticed and shortly requested my party leave. As my family and I left out, Adam the owner and Manager did mention he didn't give a bleep about a review and asked if I realize how many people like me he sees each day. I will not return and now where shall I get real catfish if not a home. So disappointing. I will move on. I'm happy to have had many, many enjoyable, honest experiences in this place. My parents, youth choir, children, husband and family since 1978. Good bye.

Yelp
This was the worst experience I have had in a restaurant in a long time. They open at 4:00. We arrived at around 4:45. No hostess or anyone to seat people. A server walked by and told us to wait someone would seat us. It was 15 minutes later before the manager came and seated us. We should have just left then because things got a lot worse. There was only one other couple in the section we were sitting in and one other table in the entire restaurant that had 6 people at it. We waited over an hour for our food. When it finally came out the catfish had a sewer smell and my shrimp had a sewer smell. My plate came with 2 pieces of catfish, 5 shrimp and 3 oysters. The oysters were about the size of a nickel and the only thing I actually ate. The fish and shrimp could not be eaten and I got Mac and cheese for my side and it was cold. The couple at the other table also had problems with their food. When the manager came with our check he asked if we wanted boxes and we said no we don't want boxes the food tastes horrible and he just walked away. I have never had seafood taste and smell so bad and we were both sick from the few bites we ate when we arrived home. It was definitely not an 80.00 meal. The food, service and attitude of the staff were all horrible.

Yelp
We Decided to try this place out last night. Headed to the bar to get a nightcap and a few appetizers. Once we walked in the bartender literally said "ugh! you want to sit at the bar?!" we looked around. It was completely empty. I told another employee and they just acted nonchalant. I'm glad they turned us away. We found the most amazing restaurant down the street called Sammy's. I highly recommend everyone to come to that restaurant. Great service and food. Thank you. Hush puppy! We found our new favorite restaurant in town.

Yelp
So much better than the last time I ordered. Perfectly crispie delicious catfish. The fried green tomatoes are to die for. The hushpuppies were warm and melted in my mouth, the only thing missing was the honey butter which I forgot to ask for. I ordered for pick up but the service over the phone was easy. The resteraunt appeared empty at 3pm but the hoast was very nice. I miss the large alligator in the front but it gave the waiting area more space. New management well done from the last time I ordered about a year ago.

Yelp
I've been here twice and the consistency in the service and food quality is comforting-- the iconic 'hush puppies' are more like corn fritters to me, but they are so delicious that I don't care what they're called, I want them in my mouth!! The corn flavor is almost sweet, the texture snappy with a good outer crunch and inner softness, plus they give you plenty of fresh butter to slather them with. Despite being blackened, I do feel the catfish could be seasoned better, because I could barely taste the flavors of the seasoning rub. In this picture I had french fries, but as a side dish I really recommend the Red Beans and Rice instead, the flavor is great on those and you can get fries anywhere. Loses 1 star because they only sell bottled water (no free water, which feels a bit stingy), but apart from that this is an excellent old-fashioned dining experience. The decor is nostalgic without being tacky, and I'm happy this place has re-opened after shutting down during COVID. The new owners seem to be doing the best they can with what they have. They even give you nice containers for your leftovers, because the portions are way too huge for 1 person to finish all at once. Yes, the price is high, but considering I got multiple meals out of each visit I think it's fair. Come hungry, leave happy!

Laura L.

Yelp
The food is horrible!!! I heard it USE to be a premiere spot but it's hardly that now! I should have known something was up when the parking lot was practically EMPTY on a Sunday afternoon!! Fish sold as catfish, comes out as Swai! Are you kidding!!! I KNOW the difference sir! You have them BOTH on your menu but you say you only sale catfish!! smh That was the worst $40.00 dinner ever!!! The service was unorganized and messy! Servers bringing wrong food to the tables...multiple times!! smh The best thing going here are the: HUSH PUPPIES!
google avatar

Lula M.

Yelp
I came to Hush puppy to thinking it was as the same as years ago but to avail, this was the worst that I have ever had!!! It started with this waitress who had the nasty attitude when I ask to clean the table. She rolled her eyes and told me I see you!!! I reacted and told her again that the table needed to be cleaned. I waited at least 10 minutes before the other waitress came and cleaned the table. Busy, not that many people were in here at the time.. I order fried green tomatoes, nasty nasty and I have a picture to show!!! The catfish was so nasty and fried so hard! This is not the Hush puppy that I know on visit to Las Vegas. I had to ask for water as hot as it is! We the water was the best thing that I received tonight. What happened to the old Hush Puppy because this is not it!!! Will not be back and couldn't wait to text my husband that Hush Puppy is gone to the dogs !!!!! Oh, and that put me at a table that was rocking and not Sturdy . Too much!!!
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
Y'all, this place is dynamite. The hush puppies were so pillowy and crispy and that butter was something else. I gotta figure how to replicate that. The collards were cooked perfectly, the bleu cheese dressing on the salad was so fresh and flavorful, and that jambalaya had a nice Cajun kick to it. I've had good food in the south and this was an awesome contender. Even my southern beau approved.

Yelp
I have been coming here since they first opened and have never been let down. From the quality of the food, to the taste, to the originality The Hush Puppy has maintained an excellent standard which they have lived by for 50 years. The food is excellent. Unparalleled Fried Cat Fish and Louisiana Seafood Gumbo to die for. The service is always fantastic and the servers and waitstaff are always kind, friendly and helpful. If there was anything negative to say about The Hush Puppy it would be they really need an interior design makeover. But that being said it in no way affects the high quality of their food. One last thing I would very much like them to bring back their all you can eat menu.

Yelp
Monday and Tuesday special stared April 21,2025 Open at 2pm everyday .. I like the new bar in back
google avatar

Yelp
It's a nice clean place. I believe it's under new ownership. This is the 2nd time I have been and the service is good but the food and prices are terrible. The hush puppies are really bad. They don't taste like hush puppies should. I ordered my French Fries to come out first because they generally do. They came out lukewarm. The salad was pretty awful no taste and was soggy. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken strips. 5 small pieces for $22 it was definitely not that good for the Money. My friend had the catfish. The flavors and taste were off. Needless to say I will not be going back there again. People even got up and left. Their Sweet potato pie was bland.
google avatar

Nando D.

Yelp
First time at this place Let''s start by saying they now open for lunch! Which is great The service was good, a young man named Youne from Morocco was very friendly and helpful. The food was good, had the catfish/shrimp combo also had cup of gumbo and red beans and rice . Just a touch of salt would make it really delicious Since the early opening is a new thing not many people know about it yet so it was pretty quiet in there on a Saturday at noon There was 5 tables occupied. All in all I had a good experience and a good time there Will come back
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
New owners. Flavor not the same. $25 all you can eat not worth the price. Quality of food was much better under the old ownership. Too bad.
google avatar

Quin P.

Yelp
Been dining at Hush Puppy since I was a kid, over 30 years. A majority of that was at the old Nellis location. Haven't been to the Charleston location in several months. Seems there are new owners and the prices have nearly doubled it seems. Went through the drive thru. The parking lot only had 3 cars when i pulled in. Its 6pm on a Saturday. I assume this is due to no longer having the all you can eat catfish everyday, so business has tanked (I assume). 4 cars in front of me. Waited over 30 minutes to get to the window. $11.89 for a two piece snack pack. Fish is still decent so for the price I wont complain. Probably wont be visiting this place again anytime soon though.
google avatar

Alan M.

Yelp
Worst food in Las Vegas I had fried catfish with very little catfish and cooked very well done and dry the fried shrimp were an unusual color frozen and deep fried French fries were limp and inedible hush puppies came late seemed with another frozen and deep fried item and the salad was mediocre at best should have known when I got out of my car there was a strong sewer smell
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
My husband and I ate here for dinner tonight. It was very disappointing. It took almost an hour to get our food and the chicken drumsticks were bloody and undercooked. We still had to pay full price for the meal and it isn't cheap. One good thing was our waitress was very nice.
google avatar

L M.

Yelp
The place is enormous, with various rooms and walk ways, the lay out is very weird and the decor gives you the feeling that it hasn't changed since 1986. The service was slow, to the point of being glacial, I don't think this is from lack of care but more from lack of staffing. The waitress was very nice though. No complimentary water, only bottled water for a charge is available... this is laughable and a true sign of a a struggling business. Food was very average, nothing was terrible, nothing was really good. Boring ambience which matches with the boring food.

Rob C.

Yelp
The fish was not good at all very greasy and just didn't taste good at all. I've been eating hush puppies for many years. New owners have changed the menu and the way the food is prepared. UNFORTUNATELY IT'S NOT WORKING when I arrived the normally full parking lot was empty that should have been a sign but I ignored it... Saying goodbye to a once Legendary restaurant...
google avatar

Marcia G.

Yelp
We have frequented The Hush Puppy for a few years now whenever we are in Vegas. We loved their all you can eat option. That got taken away sadly. Then the salad bar disappeared. We called on another occasion to see if their menu changed again and no one answered the phone. We called several times. We decided not to go. On another occasion we drove up @7:15 pm and the parking lot was real empty, they told us that they close at 7pm on Mondays, but every where I checked it says 10 PM on Google and it was recently updated. Their website states 8 PM (Mon-Thursday) Wasted time and gas.... really disappointed. Really wanted some fish and shrimps.
google avatar

Tyler C.

Yelp
Breaking my heart. No other words can describe it. I had been fighting the MEANEST Hush Puppy craving for about a week and finally gave in. Despite living in Southern Highlands, I just KNEW it was going to be worth the drive... I was so wrong. They appear to be under new management for the worst. No more AYCE catfish. No more salad bar. No more free lemons (like what? I have to pay for lemons with fish??? I didn't even know that was a thing!!!) Prices have gone up in a way that cannot be justified by inflation.
google avatar

Arisai G.

Yelp
Walking in we were a bit skeptical at how empty it was during dinner time. The sweet tea was actually pretty good and the gumbo was decent. As far as everything else? No thank you. The hush puppies look like mini corn dogs and have like a cream of wheat texture to them inside. Everything else I'm pretty sure was fried in old grease because my son didn't even want his nuggets. We would've left sooner if we didn't have to wait on the ONE person waiting all the tables and hosting.
google avatar

Krystal G.

Yelp
Super annoying when you walk into an empty building well like 6 people already sitting down and eating.. but get completely ignored! 2 severs walked past looked me in the eye and continued to go about their business. No hello no just a minute just blatantly ignoring me. Thats the most unprofessional thing ever to me. Me and my daughter stood there for at least 10 mins.... Lets do better guys this place isnt what it used to be so come on
google avatar

Teresa T.

Yelp
We have gone to The Hush Puppy for years and absolutely have loved it. Met some friends there for dinner as it is one of the places we've dined there as a group several times before. I was taken aback when we arrived and there were hardly any cars in the parking lot....like 4 cars. We are used to this place being packed on Saturday evenings. When we were seated & given our menus our selections were nothing like they used to be. I was looking forward to steak and crab legs. No steak available and the price for the crab legs was ridiculous. Definitely not the standard we were used to. I ended up ordering lemon garlic shrimp & felt it was overcooked and overpriced. I could have overcooked some shrimp at home myself for way less money. None of us enjoyed our food. The server was great. She was attentive (we were likely her only table) and sweet. I can confidently say that unless things change we will not be back.

Yelp
I usually don't like to give low ratings but besides the employees, this place was just alright. It's a cute place, but it kinda feels like when you drive through a small town in the middle of nowhere lol There was no diaper changing station so I had to figure it out haha we got a few items to try and honestly the catfish, iced tea, and hush puppies were great and everything else as just meh. Waiter seemed very sweet and apologetic for all the changes but honestly this was our first visit so it was a little unusual.. hope you guys enjoy it more than we did.

Gwen S.

Yelp
I am a huge fan for catfish. The fish wasn't bad but my family didn't enjoy their food, oysters, chicken fettuccine, they never did receive their red beans (canned) and rice. It was bad night for the restaurant. While we were there one of the cooks went home sick, that left one cook and one waitress who was in and out of the kitchen and the host had to help serve food. We weren't told about the special if you order catfish platter or something you get some free catfish. Tip is already added to your bill, we told the guy to take it off because we will pay the tip in cash which we did. Why, was the tip on the bill anyhow. That was end of March as of yesterday we are still trying to get this off our credit card card. Tip was $37.

Gregory G.

Yelp
Was there a year ago and was nothing like it used to be. Discontinued the all you can eat catfish and salad bar. They cleaned it up and redecorated it, but the food was bad and price had also went up. Bring back the old Hush Puppies!!!

Yelp
People are SO dramatic! This is not a 5 star restaurant but it's also not the worst food out there. Remember sizzler? This is like the old chain Sizzler level. It's a cute spot with an interesting layout. Servers are attentive and nice. The food is pretty bland and basic and not what the old location served. We didn't know ownership changed and were willing to give it a try. The hush puppies tasted like they are a frozen pack not homemade. And just like bar food appetizers you'll enjoy it even if it's not traditional. No one at our table liked the collard greens but the Mac n cheese was edible and the Broaster chicken was the standout favorite. Jambalaya was a huge portion and bland which some people will enjoy versus a super spicy recipe. For the price we won't be going back. Wish we could've visited the old location.

Yelp
I've visited this location and the former location on Nellis (that was the better location in my opinion), but ownership has changed and you can definitely tell by the quality of the food.

Yelp
Always wanted to try because we love seafood and Cajun. PLEASE. Go ANYWHERE else but here. One of the worst meals I've ever had. Ordered the "fish and chips" and received three deep fried rectangles that were the exact size and shape. No fish, just breading. It's like they went to the frozen fish section at Albertson's and stuck it in the deep fryer. So so bad. The cat fish was almost worst. Also, how are you called , "The Hush Puppy" and your hush puppies are terrible? I mean seriously. The service was fine. Food was atrocious. There was a reason only one two other people were at the restaurant when we walked in at 650pm on a Wednesday. Avoid at all costs.

Yelp
UPDATE We were surprised on a Sunday afternoon after church that almost nobody was in the place, it was nearly empty, all but for maybe one couple. A few years ago, you could barely get in the door at this time of day on a Sunday. This place is under new ownership and new management. The entire menu has changed. They no longer have the all you can eat fish, they don't have any crab or steak; at least, not for lunch, I didn't see any serious seafood offerings at all. This place has turned into a fried chicken establishment. Even then, they don't offer any combo of fish and chicken. We were very annoyed at the speaker directly above our table that was only playing one channel of stereo output. The interior looked kind of old and worn out, nothing like it was before. Our server was anxious and helpful and wanted to do anything and everything for us. Unfortunately, the food was just so-so. It doesn't say on the menu that most of the protein in your clam chowder will be bacon, but it is. Nice hush puppies were served in the beginning, but the honey butter that was served with it was rock hard. The fried catfish was just okay, no flavoring or seasoning at all, and pretty darn chewy, especially on the ends. The vegan salad was pretty good. We were given six shrimp with our shrimp cocktail, even though the menu said four. So, that was nice. Maybe that's because we were charged $16 instead of the $15 on the menu. Speaking of the menu, every page had a spelling error on it! That doesn't leave a very good impression. It was nice that the server poured us a pitcher of soda. He also gave us refills to go. The service was a lot better than the food. But even with good service, they seemed to make a lot of mistakes. We were served food that we didn't order, the two bowls of clam chowder were not the same. One was thin and had hardly any clams, the other was thick and had plenty of clams. After reordering one bowl, it was remedied. Half of our meal came very late because of errors. I'm sorry, this place has really tanked since a few years ago. Now I know why it was nearly empty when we arrived. The parking lot is now 10 times larger than it needs to be. Don't bother, other places are much better. We actually ended up feeling sorry for the server who worked there because he seemed to have to do everything.

Yelp
The ambiance was nice and fun. The service was great, but I guess it's just not my type of food. I had the crab cakes and they were so-so. The rest of our party seemed to enjoy their dishes though. So I don't want to give a bad review, if you enjoy a lot of fried food, you will probably like it.

Yelp
I should have listened to the lady who wrote her review 20 minutes after she left. As my husband and I sit here, we talk about our memories. So many B-Ball boys and girls have eaten here, so many teams every time we come to Las Vegas Hush Puppies and Blue Berry Hill restaurants are our must haves before we go home. Nothing ever changes we can always depend on excellent food and service at both restaurants. If U R a hush puppies fan PLEASE DONT ORDER THE CATFISH FILLETS THEY WERE AS THIN AS PAPER, TASTED HORRIBLE , and corn meal from the fillets flew all over my clothing, seating area and table. I was told there was new management (1 year). My husband suggests that they retain the former owner/ managers in order to make this restaurant great again. Our waitress (Rachael) did a great job!!' This is so very sad!!!!

Yelp
Im heartbroken. This place used to feel and taste like home. My family has been in this city since the 1950s, and the restaurant since '75 sad to say now in 2025, they've officially ruined this historic gem. The food is trash now along with the service. My aunts tried to warn me that they stopped going, but I had to try myself and sure enough the fish tasted flavorless, even made my stomach upset. They jacked up the prices and lowered the customer service, quality and overall experience. They've lost probably all of their original customers.

Yelp
Unfortunately I have to agree with what most people are saying about this place. The owners just don't appear to care about the customers experience or the quality of food that is served. They received a rating of one star because the hostess was pleasant and the garden salad was good. Everything else was a complete fail. We were quite surprised to find that the food arrived cold and there was only one other table being served. The Mac n cheese ingredients appeared old. The red beans and rice and gumbo had little spice and flavor. Crab cakes and hush puppies appeared store bought and the quality was definitely lacking. There was no option of Louisiana hot sauce to attempt to add flavor. I feel really bad saying this, but it was a complete waste of hard earned money as well as time.

Yelp
The food was great. The crab was cooked right.. the shrimp was yummy.. chicken fingers were the best ever.. Mac and cheese delicious. No complaints on food at all .. service could have been better but we will come back here without a doubt. Bathroom could use a upgrade I only washed my hands in there

Yelp
I'm here to report some sad news. This location has new owners & difference recipes. IDK where to start!!! 1st red flag: the parking lot had 6 cars!!!!! 2nd red flag: families were being seated anticipating good food, only to find out that the menu has changed drastically, and some things have been done away with, the salad bar & the A.Y.C.E catfish. They got up and left. A total of 9 people left without ordering because of the drastic menu change. (GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT!!!) 3rd red flag: the some staff are in over there heads when it comes to service, overwhelmed. The ambience is low vibes, there were are 12 people actually in the entire restaurant, QUITE!! No laughing, No plate scrapping, No sounds of enjoying a good meal. Everyone, was disappointed. 4th red flag: THE FOOD.....is horrible!!! The fish is so thin, it's like eating FISH CRACKERS. The baked potato was probably a week old. (Pic) unseasoned coleslaw, hush puppies, FROZEN butter. To simply say, the food here is a MESS!!! Don't waste your time or money, you will be very disappointed.

Yelp
I took my 3 kids here to show them my favorite restaurant ever!! I haven't been in about 7 years... I have NEVER been so let down in any place ever.. it was not busy.. 20 min to get table 30 min to get even a drink order by the same guy who sat us 30 min to get food no price given for kids menu price has nearly doubled since I've been there no silverware no free hush puppys no refills no one to check on us no bill I ended up guessing and leaving cash on the table 2 hours after we got there literally every other customer in the restaurant shared my experience. so sad.

Yelp
I'm not used to providing such low scoring reviews, but in this instance, I have to say that I was thoroughly disappointed. We were in Vegas for a family reunion, and the elders had all said this was the place to go as they had all been before. Whelp, clearly they hadn't been in a few years or something because NONE of the good things they were used to were delivered. - no, all you can eat catfish and shrimp! - the serving staff was ill prepared for a group this size total of 15 people - the food was coming out haphazardly...some were getting their salads while others were already on their entrée. - I've never seen a restaurant hand out room temp water bottles I now understand that there has been a change of ownership and I'm sure COVID didn't help, but, that said, call in someone to help reset the baseline and restore the confidence in the community that the ownership change wasn't a mistake. The decor needs updating as well as other areas of renovation. I really hope they make change to all of the issues that are glaringly obvious and get back to being a staple

Yelp
If you're considering stopping here, do yourself a favor and keep driving. This place is not worth your time, money, or taste buds. Where do I even start? First off, soft drinks and iced tea are $4 for an 8oz glass, and there is no free water option. If you don't drink soda, you'll have to pay $3 for a 16oz bottle of "Pure Life" water. The service was excruciatingly slow and poor. There were no refills on drinks, and the staff didn't clear our salad plates until we stacked them ourselves. After 30 minutes of waiting for refills, we had to physically hand our plates to the server to get them cleared. We arrived right when they opened and were one of only two groups there, yet we still had to wait 45 minutes for our food. When the food finally arrived, it was of extremely low quality. The catfish was hard as plastic and had an overly fishy taste, clearly frozen and old. The "boiled shrimp" tasted like they had been defrosted from a frozen bag bought at Walmart. To top it off, we were constantly bombarded with flies. When the bill came, it was a shocking $207 for four adults and two kids, and that was before the tip. This place is horrifically overpriced for the disgustingly low-quality food served by incompetent staff. Save yourself the disappointment and avoid this place at all costs. Yuck!

Yelp
Been visiting here for 20 plus years and damn! As of late, the service gets worse every time! Instead of taking my order in the drive thru, the manager (with the beard) was talking crap about how stupid his (paying) clientele was and I heard every word of it through the speaker. I had to go inside just to make an order. Real unprofessional. Next time turn your microphone off if you're gonna be that miserable, dude! This place was once a local gem.. but, with the people working here now, it's a crappy place i'd have to advise to avoid. Quite unfortunate since they (used to) have the best catfish meals in town. I once held an extremely high value to this place probably mostly for sentimental reasons (RIP grandma!) and it's actually quite saddening how they've hit rock bottom! Tough to even to say, but I won't be returning any time soon.

Yelp
We stopped here by accident going down Charleston. Remembered eating there a few years ago and wanted to try again. When we saw the menu we were a little disappointed that there wasn't the old " all you could eat option" for certain food at a higher price. BUT- the food was amazing! Huge baked potato with all the trimmings that was a hit.Fresh salad- outstanding catfish and seafood platter. Super nice waitress! Will go back again soon! Outstanding restaurant!!

Yelp
My family and I have been coming here for many many years. The catfish especially the whole catfish was my favorite and it was 10 out of 10. All of the seafood tasted like Cajun food from Louisiana. Today I came in town and the first place I wanted to go to was The Hush Puppy. First of all, I wasn't greeted by anyone for at least five minutes and when the waitress finally approached, she definitely had a snobby attitude. That should've been my exit out, but I was so excited to eat the food. For one there's no more salad bar. Two they are selling SWAI and advertising it as "catfish" fillets. That is a definite fraud advertising. They are expecting people to not know the difference between SWAI and catfish. But the two taste totally different. And some may not notice the difference, but my mother and I noticed it right away. They also removed the whole catfish from the menu as well. They would not be able to get away with that calling a catfish when really it's SWAI. I ordered the seafood combo which had " CATFISH" , oysters, cold boiled shrimp, and fried shrimp. As I mentioned before I received the alternative fish SWAI, my oysters were not fresh. they had a weird taste to them, my fried shrimp had weird batter and nearly burnt and boiled shrimp has no taste, no seasoning no nothing. I also ordered the mac & cheese, which was boxed shells and cheese. They put it in a mini skillet and put it in the oven to make it seem like it was freshly made. My mother called for the manager which the waitress was very apprehensive about getting him. However, once he did approach, he was wearing the same gloves that he had been wearing around the restaurant cleaning and picking up other people's plates and delivering food. My mother told them that this was not catfish. And that this fish was SWAI. He did not give my mother any trouble because he knew that she knew they are a fraud. He also didn't want us to make a big deal because they were other customers in restaurant. They are definitely under new management. I do not recommend this place and I will never come back again. The atmosphere is definitely the same. It could probably use a new look, but overall nothing has changed inside. The fact that these people think they we are stupid and we can't tell the difference is beyond me.... NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!
