Three New LA Power Lunch Restaurants for Making the Deal Happen - Eater LA

"Pasadena’s legendary Ice House comedy club is back after nearly three years, and it’s sporting a refreshed look and menu as a result. While the stage has seen some of the comedy world’s biggest names, the food hasn’t always kept up the pace. Under new owner Johnny Buss (the oldest son of former Lakers owner Jerry Buss) the 63-year-old space has been delicately overhauled, and now features a menu of snacks like wings and fries in addition to pizzas, burgers, and cocktails. The team from Pasadena restaurant Union helped to craft the opening menu, which is being executed on-site by chef Shane Robertson (Wolfe’s Den). Expect a big formal reopening party all weekend long, with the new menu shown below." - Farley Elliott

I recently attended a comedy showcase at The Ice House in Pasadena and was thoroughly impressed! Under its new ownership, the venue has undergone a fantastic remodel, creating a fresh and inviting atmosphere. The food and drink offerings were top-notch, with a great selection that elevated the experience. The staff was incredibly professional and attentive and made the evening seamless. The comedy itself was outstanding, and the entire operation ran like a well-oiled machine. Highly recommend The Ice House for a night of laughs and great vibes!

Awesome Comedy Club!!! Great Comedians Including Francesca Fiorentini and Friends lol 🤣 Her 3 Shows I’ve Been To Have Been Amazingly Hilarious In Jan, Feb & March and I’m Gonna Be Going Back On 4/23 Again!!! The Drinks 🍹 & Food Choices Are Delicious 😋 Here, Everything Tastes Great 😊 But The Brussel Sprouts 🌱 Are Hella Yummy 🤤 Whilst Being Supremely Stinky Like A Wet Shart 💨 Lol 😂!!! And I Love 💗 The Selection Of Alcohol Free 🍸 Mocktails Especially The Watermelon 🍉 Highball Which Was So Tasty 😋 & The Desert Selection Was Awesomely Delicious 😋!!! Here’s Myself & My Wife With Francesca Fiorentini @ The Ice 🧊 House 🏠 🤪🤪🤪!!! Also Francesca Fiorentini Is A Hilarious 🤣 Comedian/News Personality Lol 😂 via YouTube 3 Shows A Week Online On Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays At 1PM PST!!! Apparently D.L. Hughley Has A Show Here Too!!! I’d Love To See D.L. Hughley Perform Here Too, He’s Here A Lot Of Different Days And I Would Love To See Him Because He’s Pretty Funny 😆 Too!!!

This is a hidden gem of a venue just outside Old Town. Great comedy club-the oldest one in the country by some accounts! The venue has two intimate stage rooms, and every seat in the house is a great seat. They have a full menu bigger than the one listed on the website, so you could easily grab dinner here and a nice cocktail (or mocktail!) The two-item minimum standard at clubs like these is easy to meet without breaking the bank if you're trying to be a little thrifty. Staff are very friendly and the ambiance is vibrant and fun.

Google
We get to the venue a 1/2 hour before seating was to start. Seating started about a half hour late. We waited in the bar while waiting we watched them continuously deliver the wrong food to the wrong tables over and over again, putting down the food, picking it up, then back down picking it up. This happened to three different dishes. Btw drinks at the bar DO NOT count as the two drink minimum (drinks are $17 a piece). The show was great, the servers were completely overwhelmed, if this was just a restaurant, I'd say they got slammed but it's a comedy show and know exactly how many people will be there and when. So there's no excuse. We ordered a special package with our tickets, when we were waiting to be seated we asked our bar server and she had no clue what we were talking about. When we got seated we asked the employee seating us about it and she said our server will know. Our table was marked clearly that we got this special drink desert package and she didn't ask until the show was about over. Which nobody needs to stay at the comedy club after the show. To make things worse, if you leave the bar area (like to go into the comedy club) and don't close your tab the tip is automatically 20% same for the club itself. Plus both servers acted like they were avoiding us to close out the tab. The club server never came back at all even though we waited a while. We finally got our desert about 10 minutes after the show ended which looked like it had been sitting out for a while. Then as we went to the front table the girl behind the counter talked over me to explain to me what the problem was not listening to my experience. It wasn't resolved till we finally met the manager which we had asked for quite a while earlier in the club. One part of the show was annoying. We happened to be sitting infront of the both the performers were sitting and they chatted loudly the entire time. They were actually the only people talking during the show and it made it hard to focus on the show. In our family we have a joke when stuff goes wrong, "well it's their first time doing this. They'll get better". It was as if it was their first night doing this.

My Wife and I had a great time at the Ice House! The staff is friendly and the venue is small and intimate. Plenty of parking available across the street.

Met some friends and we were taken care of from the moment we arrived. It was great to meet Paul Rodriguez! Food was great and nice portions. The dreams were good 👍🏼 but they are very conetcial drinks. But yummy

I came her to see Tiffany Haddish and Howie Mandel. This place looks beautiful after their renovation. I love their bar and patio area. This place is one of the few comedy clubs that has seating assignments. I hate it when you have to come early and fall in line to get a good seat. Staff are friendly and helpful. Street parking and paid garage parking are available in front of the club.

Google
Great show last night in the Legendary Room! Awesome intimate space where you really feel like you're interacting with the comedians, and the crowd vibe is infectious when they get going. Friendly staff, good drinks, and surprisingly nice bathrooms. I'll be back!

Yelp
Recently visited The Ice House to watch a comedy show that a friend performed in! In the room we were in, you could easily see the stage from all the seats. Some tables/sears felt pretty close together though, and the tables are a bit small if you order food. For our show, each person had to order 2 items from the menu, so we got a mix of drinks and food. I wanted the BBQ short rib sliders, but they were out for the day. We ended up with wings, mac n cheese, and a salad. The food overall was okay. Nothing special, but not bad either. They have street parking or a lot across the street for $15.

Yelp
The comedy was good. The service was out of control. If you have a two item minimum, you should be able to pull off actually serving two items during a show. We ordered the date package offered with tickets and the staff had no clue what it was. I won't be back.

Yelp
I got a chance to check out The Ice House in Pasadena with some colleagues last month. My first time here. I didn't know what to expect because I normally don't go to comedy clubs. I found out some shows are free with a minimum of two drinks purchase and other shows require tickets to be purchased. The front lobby has some fun customes and a spinning thing that you may stand on. It also has the huge white bear statue... nice photo op! As you walk in, there are framed photos of comedians who have performed at this comedy house. I recognized a handful of them... sweet! They have a bar with inside seating and also outside patio seating. The bartenders were friendly and very quick in making the drinks. I loved the spicy mango virgin margarita! It was so good... spicy and sweet at the same time! I may have to come back just to buy the drink times 2 LOL. They have a food menu with appetizers and snacks. There are two stage rooms. I only went into one of them. I don't remember which one, but I'm sure I took a photo of it. We had 3 comedians for the show. I really like the 3rd one. The first one was decent. However, the second one struggled a bit. Sorry, I don't remember their names. I got some good laughs. What I learned is that the comedians must leverage the audience's positive energy to really do well on stage. Otherwise, it may be tough and lack substance. I applaud all the comedians for trying because our crowd was small. There wasn't a lot of energy in the room at the time. Again, I may come back for my spicy mango virgin margarita and perhaps get some laughs while I'm taking down the drinks. Thank you Ice House for providing great comedy shows since the 1960's!

Yelp
Upgraded facility is clean, organized, nice venue. Very nice changes since I came here 20 years ago.

Yelp
It had been a minute since coming out to the Ice House and back then it was still a bit dated. That said, I was pleasantly surprised to see the major facelift it underwent. To start there is a main entrance that features a giant polar bear (homage to the "Ice House) adorning the entryway. On either side are customer service counters. The walkway / hallway that leads you to the "old" part of the building is adorned with headshots of current and past, famous comedians which lands you in the cozy bar area. Back in the day this was the original waiting area and it didn't afford much space. Now, this leads to an open patio with seating and a two-sided bar that allows you to order from inside or outside, dramatically minimizing crowds. The patio added such a nice ambiance as the company did a great job of streamlining the decor with already existing brick and mortar. Nice! The show we saw was great. We were seated in one of the smaller - but newer rooms. It was an intimate setting -- there were no bad seats in the house! With all the new upgrades I would definitely come back - it was such a great experience overall.

Yelp
Since the 1960s, the Ice House has been providing entertainment with famous headliner Comedians and also has a comedy school for new and upcoming talent. I was so fortunate to attend a live taping of the Mas Locos Comedy TV Show. What a night, the MC was Jeff Garcia. We saw Abraham Boche, Ernesto Ortiz, Jose Velasquez, and Sebastian Cetina perform and showcase their talents. If do not recognize these names, it's alright, by this time next year you will know them. In Spring 2025 Mas Locos will release a new season. Our usher was Andrew, he was able to get our group of 8 seated in the same section. Even though a couple were late, they were able to join us. Buy tickets on their website, subscribe to receive updates and discounts to special shows. A two "item" purchase per person is required. Your two "items" does not have to be an alcoholic beverage. Choose specialty cocktails, beer, wine, soft drinks or food (pizza, sliders, tacos, chicken wings, garlic fries, etc.). Check the website, make plans for fun night with family and friends. Don't forget to tell'em that Rosemary sent ya!

Yelp
My first time at The Ice House after all these years!! I had soo much fun!!! Came for a comedy show and the food was bomb !! I ordered the crispy honey chicken sliders and chicken wings !!! That was the Bomb!!!! Order that when u come you will have no regrets!! The service was really good and our server was very attentive!! The Ambiance was perfect and modern! Great seats as well! Only issue was that the seats were very close together and tables are very small! However, it is very cute inside with nice decor and very clean! I will definitely come back here again for another comedy show!! I really enjoyed myself Parking is limited on street, but they have a parking structure for $15

Yelp
Decent venue, came here for a comedy show. The show itself was great but taking a few stars off just for the overall price and visibility. Tickets itself were a reasonable price but there were a few add ons that made it more expensive. There isn't street parking nearby (maybe other blocks, I'm not sure). So if you decide to park in the lot across the street, it is $10. There is also a 2 item minimum per person, plus tip. Most items were $15 each. The food was pretty small and mediocre. We got the sliders, pizza, and fries. You could get a drink which of course is about the same but I was thrown off that a mocktail was the same price as a cocktail...only found out after the fact as it is not written on the menu. I also found issue with the seating - since most of the room is at the same level, the person in front of me was large and tall which blocked most of my view. Not shown in my photo.

Yelp
I use to go here every week when I was young. This was my first time going back to see a comedy show after so many years. I went to see Finesse Mitchell and Tisha Campbell and they were hilarious. I had so much fun. The comedy club was upgraded with trendy furniture and light fixtures. Very cozy ambiance. All the staff was nice and made great recommendations. The tickets were very reasonable I only paid 54.00 for two tickets. They have a nice decent menu for food and drinks and have happy hour prices before the show depending on the comedian show. Note: It's two drinks minimum.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my sister's birthday and Michael Yo had the house laughing so loudly! The lineup was also pretty good too. I thought it was so cool that all comedians were free to take a photo with audience members. There's a 2 item minimum and I ordered the Brussels sprouts (don't bother) and the short ribs sliders were excellent- but hold the bbq sauce and have it on the side so it won't be too saucy. The watermelon highball was weak. The Japanese sour was good if you like sour. Fries were super thin. The salad was lackluster. The house was sold out so get tickets in advance! Happy hour prices are not available in the showroom and only in the bar area. Overall a nice venue and I enjoyed the laughs!

Yelp
We bought premium tickets for a Thursday show and we showed up on the wrong day of the show. We looked at our tickets after arriving and noticed something was wrong. A service member noticed us and took care of us. He didn't have to since it was our mistake. It was an amazing experience considering it was our mistake. As always the comedians were great and the drinks were good. We will definitely be returning regularly in return for the kindness we received Friday. Thank you.

Yelp
Came here recently for a friend's 40th. Ended up reserving their VIP room. First time here though I've passed by this place a couple of times. If you're into comedy shows, this is the place to be. When you first walk in, the gallery wall definitely stands out as you see all the past comedians who have graced the Ice House in the past. There's a hangout area before you get to the rooms. VIP room was pretty nice. Get a whole room to yourself with the audio coming through the speakers. No lag on the speakers which is good. We got 3 tickets and you can use it towards food and/or drinks. I ordered their pulled pork slider which wasn't too bad. Then ordered two other drinks which I enjoyed. Tasted pretty good and plenty of alcohol to it. With VIP, you're also reserved the small tables in the back in the main room so I was able to check out the floor as well. Great service and great entertainment. Would definitely come again to enjoy the laughs.

Yelp
This is a fun place and a great way to spend a Friday or Saturday evening! Since the change in management and remodel, the venue looks much nicer and seems to attract plenty of newcomers and regulars. Prices are a bit higher now than I remember, plus there's a two-item minimum. Still, there's happy hour at the bar. Restrooms are decent... cleaner than some other places. Food is okay, dessert was good but not great. Cocktails aren't strong. Parking in the garage out front, which is advertised as being the Ice House parking, is $15 upfront for self-parking. That was not my favorite part of the night, and I'll remember to look for street parking next time.

Yelp
My son took me on cinco de Mayo to the ice house and I had a great time! I haven't been there in many years and was pleasantly surprised to see all the renovations that they have done to the place! It's looking very nice! Plenty of seating and the stage was nice and great comedians! They had a wonderful Mariachi band performing and I had a lovely time! We got to see Paul Rodriguez and he had me laughing the whole time! Parking was easy to find and we only paid $3.00. Carry cash for the parking. They have a 2 drink minimum and they also offer food. We did not eat there but the food smelled good!

Yelp
Valentines Day at the ice House. It was four of us. Lonie love was funny. Food is had sliders and fries and watermelon drink. We had the Valentines package it was cool. Sisters had amazing time. Service was excellent
google avatar

Letitia J.

Yelp
Was invited to a show by the host. Super unorganized, the little vip girl decided io put my party inside some old man's bday party instead. SUPER UNORGANIZED! Won't try this again....
google avatar

Jenny T.

Yelp
Renovated with a great a campy atmosphere mixed with technological advancements. Hey, it comedy! We love live performance art and comedy is sorely needed. They have some imaginative drinks and the fun foodies to fulfill your two drink minimum, but most importantly the talent from these comedians is wonderful to behold. Who would not support a creative venue like this.
google avatar

Myron A.

Yelp
This was my first time and the place is great! All seats are within about 50 feet of the stage. The two item minimum is really reasonable with the signature cocktails $15 ($10 if you make happy hour) I came so see Jiaoying Summers with "special" guest Margaret Cho. I'll be back...and you will join.
google avatar

Miriam Y.

Yelp
Went to this venue for the very first time to see preacher Lawson. The show was great but there were a couple of things that didn't impress me much about the venue. They didn't start on time. Felt like I waited forever just to be seated. The venue doesn't let you purchase a solo ticket to sit in the front. You have to buy ticket in pairs. However, the service was great and the food was ok. I liked how intimate the venue felt so I may come back again.
google avatar

Erik C.

Yelp
So glad this place re-opened. I took my friend out and we had such a great time. We parked in a parking structure for around $20 for the night which wasn't too bad. We were super close to the comedians and everyone was great! Our server was fantastic and constantly check up on us and made sure we were good. Two drink minimum unfortunately but worth it. Definitely a cool place to check out.
google avatar

Denny W.

Yelp
First time here for a comedy show. The show was great and the venue was pretty nice. Parking was $15 bucks for less than two hours and the drinks/food were a bit pricey. We had some of the cinco de mayo food specials which honestly were all very bland and not very good. Aside from that the rest of the place was great including the service.
google avatar

Steve O.

Yelp
If you have an opportunity to catch a comedian who you've wanted to see at a reasonable price, in a small intimate setting where you are sitting no further than 20 feet away ice house is the place. I've seen Jo koy, Iliza, Nikki Glaser to name a few. This place never disappoints. Highly recommend stopping by.
google avatar

Suzy B.

Yelp
We had an amazing time at The Ice House seeing Max Amini. Mari was our waitress and excellent customer service and food and cocktails were great. Max was so funny
google avatar

Round-the-Clock C.

Yelp
Great experience going here for the first time in years. Love it here and the food is pretty decent for a comedy club.
google avatar

Anna Z.

Yelp
My friends and I had tickets for the comedy show on a Friday night. The Ice House is large and clean, with some of the cleanest bathrooms I've been in! Ample heaters to keep you warm, you won't even know you're outside. The bar area had a good amount of seating and cool drinks. The only downside was we ordered fries with our drinks at the bar before going into the comedy show room, and told them our booth number and they never arrived. We had to ask for it after noticing that everyone around got their food. The parking structure across the street was $15 with plenty of parking.
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, cold margaritas and the sliders were a good selection for a comedy show.
google avatar

Amy A.

Yelp
We had an amazing night! Laughed so hard and enjoyed the service, food and drinks too. I'll definitely be back. The required "two-item minimum" cannot be purchased outside the showroom during happy hour. This should be clarified on the website. I don't mind but it would be nice if that was clear.
google avatar

Joe H.

Yelp
Great comedy club in Pasadena. It's a smaller venue but offers a more intimate setting. They offer a great drink & food menu with ample parking available on the street or in the paid garage across the street.
google avatar

JV S.

Yelp
Kique is the man! The drinks menu has the MOST AMAZING DRINKS and CURATED whisky, spirits menu. Come early before each show for happy hour and see Kique. This guy is a genius on mixed drinks
google avatar

Alique B.

Yelp
Major updates from 10 years ago! Love this place even more. Great ambiance, great comedians. Service is a bit pushy every time I go. The food and drinks are good. Overall, I would recommend this comedy club. Especially if you don't want to deal with crazy Hollywood traffic. Pasadena has quality performers and a more relaxed pace.
google avatar

Tonya T.

Yelp
I haven't been to the Ice House in MANY years, so much so, it looks NOTHING like it did during my last visit. So many upgrades! Yet, I had to see TK Kirkland live! In his 30-plus-year career, this was his first time in Pasadena. No way was I missing it! Service: We walked in greeted by an energetic and kind host. The next host was nice. Our server was fantastic! I'm always happy when a server has a great sense of humor and doesn't mind showing it. He was just a joy! Sadly, I don't remember his name. Sadly, indeed, because he was awesome! Food: I ordered sliders and had to order fries since they do not come together. UGH! I hate when places do that, nickel and dime ya! The fries were DELISH! The sliders were kewl, but they were deconstructed for the most part. I ordered pineapple juice and the cup was much bigger than anticipated. YAY! Space: We were in the, I think it's called Legendary room. Unsure. The seats were spaced out enough for patrons. Yet, there isn't enough space for the servers to walk through. My sistah was worried her new boots would be scuffed haahaahaahaa. Thankfully, we were able to move to the back row. When I return, I prefer the back row. Now for the pics.
google avatar

Maggie X.

Yelp
Clean and spotless. Really comfortable seats which was unexpected cause some comedy houses have rickety old chairs. Tom was our server in the California Room. Very kind and friendly. Top tier friendly dude. Drinks and food are affordable and don't break the bank for the 2 drink in room minimum.
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
Great show ! Enjoyed the food, but mostly the entertainment. S. Cetina comedian and the other comedians were funny as hell! LOVED IT!
google avatar

Ginny M.

Yelp
Bought my ticket to see Whitney Cummings to find out she was want even scheduled to perform! The line up didn't even match what I paid for. Seems they post fake acts to sell more tickets. The quesadilla was 1 piece of cheese didn't cover it so it was just tortilla horrible waste of money
google avatar

April W.

Yelp
Wow! What a wonderful club. I love that you can select seating online prior to the event. The wait staff is on top of their game and management is very nice! This is the nicest "green" room I've ever been in equipped with chandelier, wrap around couch and a view of the stage plus tv monitor! Setup of room is nice and easy to maneuver around the tables and chairs - which were comfortable! Food was also bathrooms were pristine
google avatar

Jamaica P.

Yelp
Jamie Kennedy and Tom Arnold were great!!! Our waiter forgot about us but we were so into the show we forgot too
google avatar

Mansta A.

Yelp
What a beautiful venue with good comedy, great food and drinks. I am blown away by how good their food and drinks are here. I've experienced some trash food at comedy clubs and this by far exceeding my expectations. We had the wings and sliders and they were both gourmet. The cocktails are really good too and served in beautiful cups. Our server was just a bit slow but she made up for it later. I've been to many different comedy clubs in Los Angeles and this is the best. They have a couple different rooms for the comedy shows and this was my 2nd visit. The middle eastern show they had way back was hilarious!!! The only drawback is the parking. Its either street parking which is hard to find or park in the lot across for $15.
google avatar

Linda R.

Yelp
The food was horrible. Chicken was like chewing gum salad. It was so bad. as for the salad? I felt it was like they took everything out of the trashcan and put it on my plate. It taste so bad. None of my family wanted it as well. One of the orders never even came out, but we got charged $88 for it. The comics were so loud and such a small room that it was hard sometimes to understand what they were saying comics didn't pay attention to the people in the back very few people a lot of Africans very few latinos but the staff that had some Latinos working for them as for the comics they were sad a lot of politics by one comedian he said the truth, but I don't feel that was to be said in that kind of venue Tisha Campbell was there and her comedy was overkill in vulgar, but it was OK. The place is nice but too small for so much yelling but tolerable I wouldn't go back but some people like that kind of stuff I like it the way it used to be it was even smaller, you understood what people were saying, and they didn't yell as much they talked. However, my spouse enjoyed the chicken some what. As it is said to each his own!
google avatar

Wendy W.

Yelp
All of the above were excellent!!! We enjoyed all the comedians, the service, the ambiance & the food were all great! My one little concern were we were packed too close in the little tables up front... But will definitely come again. Maybe sit elsewhere!!! Loved the show!
google avatar

Gabrielita J.

Yelp
Not too Happy about the random $30 dollar charge on my credit card Ice House......... Disputing this with my bank. I had such an awesome time at last nights show and this truly ruined it for me. I know how much I spent last night and that $30 charge after I paid my tab is not adding up. Not cool.

Yelp
Beautiful, intimate setting. Love the different showrooms. Customer service is great. Clean restrooms and environment well kept up. Food and drinks were delicious.

Yelp
Never again! Stopped by around 10 on a Fri nite. Tried to call ahead for tix and the line-up. No answer. Tried 3x. No answer. Arrived 10ish -- did I mention it was a Fri night?!?!?? Was discouraged at the door from entering. Sets nearly done. Finally seated. Comic was really good. Enjoying myself. Ordered a drink. Charged $31 for one cocktail and water. Told "too late" to order food. Hours on door through 1 am. Wow. Just Wow. Still enjoyed my cocktail. My first and only of the evening. Bouncer told me I was "too loud." Seriously? At a comedy club that I used to be a regular at for yearssssssssssssssss, decades even? Since the late 70s? I left, never ever to return to that disrespectful embarrassing treatment. F-- off House Ice!
google avatar

Amie B.

Yelp
The other I bought a ticket to see the Sklar Brothers (amazing always) and had the pleasure of seeing the drop-ins of Howie Mandel, Eliza Schlesinger (very pregnant and amazing also killed!) and Norm McDonald who had us rapt. All professional comedians and amazing. The wait staff was on point and the food and drinks amazing and fairly priced considering the market. The remodel was clean and fantastic, bathrooms get 10/10 stars remembering the old bathrooms. I have only one note. We were in the littler room. (I am autistic I notice anomalies) And to the right side of the stage was an emergency exit made of glass that consisted of one full pane of glass and a glass door. That two panel architectural ensemble had a coating on it that was basically a mirror. And every time the lesser-established comedians walked towards the right side of the stage, they lost confidence because they saw their reflection and they lost the room. I believe there should be NO MIRRORS in a comedy club. Let's just assume that all funny people are vampires trying to work up a crowd. That's it. Can't wait to come back!

Janaki L.

Yelp
Love this place!! Excellent vibe and ambience. The service was wonderful, truly pleasant. And their food is so yummy!

Yelp
I have enjoyed visiting the club many times in the past but not recently, hopefully I will visit again soonest.

Yelp
Seen a few different shows here & I like Ice House Everyone who works there is super nice & the crowd is there to laugh & have fun Mainly this review is for whoever behind the bar came up with their specialty blended cocktail Ur In Snow is a genius I ordered it just because the name tickled me but it is one of the best cocktails I've ever had in all my world travels & lucky to eat all kinds of fancy places

Yelp
The renovations are amazing. The ticket prices are great. The comedy is amazing! I've been there several times and was never disappointed.

Yelp
This is an amazing and historic venue for comedy, which has just been remodeled and modernized. For many years, the Sunday night show was run by the legendary Dave McNary.

Yelp
Everything was amazing. Was invited by the comedian Jeff Garcia. Everything was so great that I couldn't stop laughing.
