The Independence

PLEASE READ UPDATE!! Honestly, the best complex i’ve lived in so far. I wanted to wait about 6 months until I wrote a review, and i’ll update it if needed but I doubt I will. This complex is amazing, especially for the cost. Does it have the everyday hiccups of the average apartment complex? Sure. But nothing I would say is note worthy. Kids play outside, people usually keep to themselves but are polite, the office staff is prompt and helpful, and maintenance is quick and reliable. The location is pretty great, but there is some noise from the dealerships next door, nothing that would be even close to a deal breaker for me though. as someone with experience with horrible apartments and staff, this felt like a dream to move into. Jasmine specifically is an angel and is so patient and kind! She made the entire move in process so simple, regardless of how stressed I was. TLDR; nice complex, nice staff, nice neighbors, will 1000% renew my lease at this rate. 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 Editing for loss of sense of safety (location). Apparently a car ran into the gate and it has been open for entry for over a month leading to theft of property. The dealership lots close by brings in the bad kind of company. I hated to even have to update because *everything else* is BEYOND great but unfortunately open gates near expensive businesses draw in the worst of society & when incidents happen, you feel violated and unsafe in your home. My husband feels unsafe driving his truck and we are out of pocket on repairs. The office was prompt and empathetic in letting me know it was broken and would be fixed within a week and encouraged us to set our own cameras up but there are not cameras sufficient to cover the property when gates fail. I want to reiterate that the office ladies did everything in their power quickly, but the location around the car lots and the attention it brings isn’t something they can control. We felt so safe here until this incident (nearly 2 years!) I wouldn’t say not to move here, but be careful, vigilant, and aware of what comes with living near prime theft real estate. Don’t get too comfortable just because they seem secure & nice, thieves don’t care and gates malfunction.

Great place to live. Staff is kind and helpful. Fairly quite in spite of lots of kids. They all play in the grassy area behind my apartment and for the most part they play well together. I have a ring side seat for football and scoccer games I love when the dads get out there and play with the kids, teaching them how to throw and such. I often wonder if I'm watching future NFL players. Grounds are well manicured, clean, no bugs! Very pleasant place to live!

Being here at the independence has its ups and downs, staff has been great from day one. The only complaint I can really give is during our bad weather icy storms. They don’t clear the parking lots or walk way areas . It’s unsafe trying to walk downstairs to take out trash. I’ve falling 3 times and hurt my leg. Trying to find someone to take me to ER. They need to do better about making sure it’s safe for there occupants.

In regards to the negative reviews about the wait list and length of time, honestly what do you expect? There's a serious housing shortage for low income/HUD rentals, especially those that are well kept, safe and have amenities. Yes the wait list may be long but remember, the people who are on the list before you have a high probability of already finding a place somewhere else. When I was looking at various properties before deciding on The Independence I paid the app fee and got on the "12-15 month" wait list of another apt community- 3 months later I got a call that an apartment was available. If you're waiting til the last minute to decide to move and start looking for a new home, good luck. Remember, all good things are worth the wait. Beautiful new apartments with friendly and welcoming staff. Property is extremely well lit, I feel very safe walking my dog late at night. Any maintenance work orders are handled promptly by staff. It was okay for the time being. Management kept changing for quite a bit. A lot of people just didn’t really take care of the place which left it dirty especially due to kids not cleaning up after themselves. We had really rude and loud upstairs neighbors who kept stomping for months and nothing would be done about it. We went to the leasing office multiple times and left multiple emails, sent recording, and they didn’t really seem to care or take any action. We decided to leave because it would go on every single day and night messing with our sleep and focus and nothing would be done. My packages also kept being stolen and no cameras or anything caught them. Just felt the leasing office/management was really lazy and just wasn’t helpful at all. Even bringing people over is a little embarrassing due to the trash people leave. Isn’t worth it to be honest but if you need something to settle with for a bit, then it would make somewhat reasonable.

I moved out 2 years ago and the company put a 1700 charge off on my credit. I paid my rent on time and my apartment was thoroughly cleaned before I moved out. I call the office several times and no answers or responds to messages

Miya is truly amazing. They are all so wonderful and have been a great help to me, and I truly appreciate their assistance every step of the way. I am very grateful to have met them.

I just recently moved into The Independence & when I say that I absolutely love living here... When you make a maintenance request within 24 to 48hrs they are here... They also keep the grounds up outside as well, I had my family friends come to visit me and they were so amazed on how well keep the grounds were, nice clean & picked up.... And when you go to the office about any concerns that you may have, they address them in a timely manner..... The people that work in the office are all very professional & very kind & seem to care about your concerns & is very knowledgeable if you need help with something... As being a manager myself before, great leadership means alot because when you have great leadership your tenants & others will always respect you.... I plan on being here as long as God see fit & I pray that the company keep the current mangers in office, because the world is better off with them in it....
