"Despite being way too close to the Promenade, The Independence is a bright space with solid food that doesn't ever seem to get that crowded. The food is very tourist-friendly - salads, a steak, bolognese - and they do a solid bottomless brunch." - Amy Clark

In regards to the negative reviews about the wait list and length of time, honestly what do you expect? There's a serious housing shortage for low income/HUD rentals, especially those that are well kept, safe and have amenities. Yes the wait list may be long but remember, the people who are on the list before you have a high probability of already finding a place somewhere else. When I was looking at various properties before deciding on The Independence I paid the app fee and got on the "12-15 month" wait list of another apt community- 3 months later I got a call that an apartment was available. If you're waiting til the last minute to decide to move and start looking for a new home, good luck. Remember, all good things are worth the wait. Beautiful new apartments with friendly and welcoming staff. Property is extremely well lit, I feel very safe walking my dog late at night. Any maintenance work orders are handled promptly by staff. Living my best life and loving it at The Independence McKinney

Honestly, the best complex i’ve lived in so far. I wanted to wait about 6 months until I wrote a review, and i’ll update it if needed but I doubt I will. This complex is amazing, especially for the cost. Does it have the everyday hiccups of the average apartment complex? Sure. But nothing I would say is note worthy. Kids play outside, people usually keep to themselves but are polite, the office staff is prompt and helpful, and maintenance is quick and reliable. The location is pretty great, but there is some noise from the dealerships next door, nothing that would be even close to a deal breaker for me though. as someone with experience with horrible apartments and staff, this felt like a dream to move into. Jasmine specifically is an angel and is so patient and kind! She made the entire move in process so simple, regardless of how stressed I was. TLDR; nice complex, nice staff, nice neighbors, will 1000% renew my lease at this rate.

Edit: the calls I made never went through, they called the next day and apologized when they finally got all the calls. Maintenance ran to my door and was out of breath apologizing and asking to fix it. That incident was the only “bad” one I ever had. Love the front desk, maintenance is trash. My AC is broken, called the “emergency” line 4 times in 9 hours with no response. “Emergency” for them means “I’ll get to it next week” you better know how to fix things; because you won’t hear from them!!!

Honestly these apartments were so amazing!! They got me in fast approved fast approved and reply back super fast . Very welcoming friendly and every time I go in with a question they are on top of it . Apartments are very nice great price and kept pretty clean very family friendly and fix things fast! In regards to the kids yes there is a lot but if you stay by the park of course you’re going to hear them being kids (literally being kids off devices ) . I can say I spoke to some about a few things but they stopped after not something I have had to report #letthemknowwhatsup I recommend them to anyone with kids or young !! Amazing place

WARNING ⛔️ PLEASE READ ⛔️ I just want start by saying i lived at the independence for 2 years . It’s was the worst living experience ever. The first year I had live there I had wrote a review about the kids in the neighborhood, how the landlord couldn’t get them under control. The kids would play Dingdong ditch . The landlord at the time Monica treated me to take it down. So now that I moved I really can care less. A lot of people in the neighborhood complained about it. But it was really bad for me because the kids played exactly where I lived in the complex apt 4109 that’s the worse apt to live in trust . The people upstairs are loud walk all times of the hours an all night you would hear the conversation. But back to the kids they don’t care about your cars they will lay right on it they will jump on your car. Also one day I came out on my balcony and why was it a group of kids sitting on my balcony. I was so upset !! Ohhh and also they have a neighborhood watch that watches who come in and out your house because they would let the landlord nakia know what’s going on. The ladie that watches the neighborhood is a old black ladie that’s the landlord nakia cousin. The landlord was so nosy in my busy that one day my parents sent me a packages and she took it from my door way I didn’t find to a week later on my balcony. She didn’t call me to tell me she moved it on anything I found out from my neighbor it was her that moved it. Also yall forget parking you not go find a spot . Also they don’t take of the dumb it was about 20 rats by the trash one night. Let me not forget they will tow your car for anything make sure you watch out for your vehicle. I had went out an bought this thing if someone touch my car it will alarm me. Since I left this place life has been way better it’s a very toxic environment over there!!!

Jasmine was extremely amazing to work with. I was contacted after 2 days of going on waitlist and approved within two days of completing my application. I definitely recommend her and the property.

Moved into these apartments as soon as they opened and had two leases here… was very sad to leave as I never really had any issues. You’re going to have your pros and cons at any apartment complex that just comes with the lifestyle of not owing your own home. I love love love Nikkita and Jasmine, they were the best help every single time. Maintenance was very quick to resolve any of my issues as well.
