"Toddrickallen reports that the Independence, which opened in 2014, has closed in Santa Monica on the corner of 2nd and Broadway. The Independence opened in the former Buddha’s Belly space with veteran barman Vincenzo Marianella and served as a reliable watering hole for downtown Santa Monica denizens." - Matthew Kang

"When: Mon-Fri, 4-6pm The Deal: 50% Off All Wine; $7 Beer; $8-10 Cocktails From the outside, The Independence looks a lot like the countless other American bar and grills that line downtown Santa Monica. Keeping it simple: Food, drinks, service……….all five stars! Portions are large and they do offer a pretty good bottomless mimosa (I think it’s $27 and limit is 1 ½ hours). We did not take advantage of it, but we ordered one glass and it was filled to the brim. And they go light on the juice, making it full of the good stuff. Food quality and taste was there and service was FAST. Would definitely come back.

Follow me. Perfect place for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner because it’s located right near the Santa Monica pier. The food was excellent and made to order. The brunch burger is a must try. Everything on one sandwich. The fruit was fresh and the bacon was cooked perfectly. The Belgian waffles and eggs was cooked just like we asked. The breakfast potatoes was really good. You just don’t get that much. We sat outside and it was perfect. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. They have bottomless mimosas and a variety of coffee and teas to choice from. They also have a Happy hour which is drinks only. Wednesday-Friday 4pm-6pm. The inside is very modern and pretty. The bathrooms was clean.

Went here during my birthday weekend for brunch and I had a great time! Love the bottomless mimosas for 27 dollars! (90 minute limit) and I devoured the egg sandwich that I ordered while my boyfriend could not get enough of his steak and eggs. We'd definitely come back.

The Independence is a wonderful dining experience in Santa Monica. Have been quite a few times. I’ve had the oysters, fish and chips, salmon, and wings. Each dish was delicious and the presentation was on point. Also the drink menu has a decent assortment of wines and liquors. Although I am personally partial to the Uncle Nearest. Great vibe and professional and attentive staff. When in LA check it out.

Google
Thanks for having us, Independence! 5 stars all around. Our waitress and service was overall phenomenal. The food was above and beyond any expectations! From the fish, to the avocado toast to the Mac and cheese! Amazing and super tasty. To top it all off, $20 for 2 hours of unlimited mimosas for brunch 7 days a week - such a bonus!!! Had a great time catching up with friends and enjoying each other’s company on their cute patio. Perfect for these crazy Covid times with the indoor seating with open concept and outdoor patio seating. If you are in the area and get a chance to stop by I highly recommend. The Nashville chicken sandwich and the brunch burger were my favorites but everything was delicious!

Google
Friendly greeting at front door, immediately seated and water offered straight away by owner. Server was extremely friendly, efficient and used perfect attentiveness level. Nice beer and wine selection, with very tasty BLT, omelette & frites.

This is our second time to The Independence and yet again the service and food were amazing we ate the Smash Burger and the Mushroom Burger which both were so delicious and juicy. The surprise winner was the broccoli appetizer this was so amazing and savory. We will definitely be back and are always happy to come here.

Yelp
Stopped by on a late Sunday afternoon. We were looking for a place to have a cocktail that wasn't loud and "happening". This place fit the bill. We were happily surprised to see they have an "everyday HH from 3:00-5:30 pm,. We tried the Hibiscus Gimlet, so good, perfect flavor, balanced sweetness and refreshing. The traditional margarita, also very good. For food we tried the HH: - Fish and chips, nothing special, but not bad - Hot wings, crispy and good flavor - Caesar salad, traditional - Lamb Bolognese, so flavorful, lamb was cooked perfectly, very tender and the pasta and sauce were delicious. The dining room has a modern decor and airy feel. Our server Emily was amazing, despite being the only one there, she was attentive and friendly (thank you!). If you're in the area, stop by, you will be happy you did.

Yelp
One of my least favorite meals I had in SoCal. Huevos Rancheros: Plate of black beans with minimal toppings. Coconut Cornflake French Toast: Outside was crispy and dry, but inside was undercooked and soggy.

Jen S.

Yelp
We were checking in late and asked the front desk where to eat. This lovely gentleman in line said to try The Independence-said it was some of the best food he has ever had! We went and we agreed! Sadly they are closed M & T so we were not able to come back until Wednesday brunch. Paige was our waitress both times and so so nice! She even remembered us and said "welcome back" Clean, friendly, excellent service and amazing food

Darya S.

Yelp
We kept it light at The Independence with the lamb ragu and the citrus salad. We just wanted an afternoon snack and were lucky they were open. They allowed us to sit outside so we did some people watching. There's a fence so it keeps you separated from the sidewalk. Anyway, the food is great, ambiance is posh, staff is professional, and prices are pricey for what it is, but it's not outrageous. It's nothing to write home about, but it's a lovely little restaurant with good American dishes.

Yelp
Decent food, great fries, really solid happy hour special. I came here to avoid the tourist crowds on a weekday afternoon and it really picked me up. Taste: I got the fish and chips and a hibiscus gimlet. The fish was fried well, crispy, but moist on the inside. Really solid. The fries were excellent, kind of that McDonalds style thinness, crispy on the outside, fluffy inside. Perfectly salted. None too floppy and none over done. Experience: I sat at the bar alone. It was pretty empty at 3:30 on a Wednesday. The bartender took care of me and she was very sweet. The manager came out at one point asking me how I was doing and then went to chat with a regular. The decor was nothing special and I probably would have totally overlooked this place if it wasn't convenient for me at the time. It's definitely a really good happy hour and that's when I'd recommend you come. Mood Before/After: I have been in a bad, sad mood all week. This was a small bright spot that did help me feel better. Fullness: I was full enough. The happy hour has half portions on their specials, so you could order full size if you want. I think an extra piece of fish would've been good and not too much, but this was nice. What else did I eat/do today affecting my experience: I dropped off my cousin (who is from out of country) at Santa Monica Pier so they could take pictures and stuff. I didn't want to go and was feeling sad, so I was happy to be alone for a bit.

Yelp
Was taking a stroll around Santa Monica and ran into this little place, the menu looked good. As I sat down a red headed bar tended whom I forgot her name introduced herself and got my order. She was very pleasant and attentive. I ordered the eggs Benedict and added the avocado on top. It was delicious and well prepared. I also ordered some coffee and it was definitely one of the best coffees I have had in a while.

Milan M.

Yelp
Great place for lunch or early dinner. It can get busy on weekend nights because there is a full bar inside. We visited again recently and had a super good lunch, we ordered their vodka pasta and caesar salad along with the fish and chips. Everything was good, but the pasta & caesar were stand outs! Also they have an amazing happy hour were many items on the menu are half off. Our bill for all that food was only like $35. We finished and both said that we'd come back again just for that pasta, it was that good!

Nicole G.

Yelp
The only reason we came to the area. This is popular spot. Got here early and sat at the bar. Well stocked bar and friendly staff. Ordered the fried shrimp with fruit chutney it was very good. Plenty of seating!

DeeAnna S.

Yelp
First time here was July 4th weekend. We'd passed by here many times before and put it on our list of places to try. It was mid afternoon so not as crowded (other then outdoor tables) as other times we've passed by. It was Happy Hour and they have a limited but respectable HH menu. Their Margaritas were excellent. The fish and chips were a solid 4 and the Frito Misto was average. The place is beautiful inside and it's on a prime corner of downtown Santa Monica so convenient to everything. Our server Malcolm was brand new and did a wonderful job. We'll be back.

Mirella K.

Yelp
For a spontaneous decision to get brunch here, this was a great experience! My boyfriend and I were in Santa Monica when we came to the idea to get brunch before visiting the Santa Monica pier. We searched up some brunch places near us and The Independence was one of the options that appeared. We went on a whim and walked over; luckily they had readily available seating! The place was pretty empty, but that's expected on a random Wednesday afternoon. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Super luxe, clean, and modern on the outside and inside. Our server was nice and came around a good amount. We never felt rushed or in a hurry. The food was good, but we felt it was a bit too expensive. This is one of those restaurants where all the sides come separate (like no fries on the side of your sandwich for example). I got the avocado toast which was good, but very hard to eat because it was topped with so many big things. It was a sloppy but yummy experience. My boyfriend said his hot chicken sandwich was tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. We both enjoyed the Tijuana mules. I would recommend this restaurant to newcomers traveling to Santa Monica for a nice ambiance, relaxed atmosphere, and cute pictures. It's super close to the Santa Monica Pier, as well!

Janette W.

Yelp
Friendly staff and a great spot for a glass of wine! I enjoyed my conversation with the bartender and thought she was really sweet.

Jane W.

Yelp
Great service and cute decor! The hosts were very friendly and the food was great American fanfare. Got the Brussels sprouts (a MUST) and the truffle Parmesan fries for starters which were amazing. We then got a chicken club sandwich and the Nashville chicken sandwich - both were great though the Nashville chicken sandwich is quite big and was a lot of food. Overall, pretty good food and service!

Tara B.

Yelp
I like this place because they have a nice bar and they serve good beer on tap. They have a great menu as well and I recently found out that this restaurant cares enough to provide their customers with a higher quality oil. Most places use a GMO oil that causes chaos in our bodies. The Independence uses a non-GMO Rice Bran Oil. Hooray! Yes, even though I'm a super healthy eater, sometimes I want to be a little naughty and eat fries. Since I have a higher standard for my naughtiness and it doesn't include GMO oils like Canola and Soybean, I always ask. We should all be asking and concerned. You'll be burping all night long if you eat the Crap Oils and who knows what happens after that. Thank you for caring about your customers!

Niko A.

Yelp
Bottomless mimosas... on a weekday?!? Sign us up!! This was initially what drew us to the Independence. If you work in healthcare or on weekends/night shift and are looking for a bottomless brunch spot, this is it. Our mimosas were truly bottomless, as the service here was phenomenal. Super friendly and great vibes. We added a lychee carafe to mix it up with the orange juice. Perfectly located in Santa Monica, so you can continue your brunchventure at Third Street Promenade, the pier, or the beach. Brunch burger was savory and filling. Truffle fries were so good that we got two orders. Ceviche was well-portioned and fresh. We'll definitely be back for more!

Yelp
Came here with a group to celebrate the holidays Here's what I liked: 1. Good service. Very friendly and responsive waiter and manager who helped us throughout the night (even with some of our unusual requests) and even gave us a really nice drink and dessert to try out (both delicious). They made us feel like regulars even though it was our first visit, and our group had a wonderful time that evening. 2. The fried chicken sandwich was really good - one of the better ones I've had. Not too much batter, moist and juicy, full of flavor. 3. The truffle fries were a surprise hit and I couldn't stop eating them.

Yelp
TikTok brought me here lol I was trying to find a cute brunch spot with bottomless mimosas. This was the spot! On a Saturday morning, I was scared that it was going to be a long wait. However, we were seated immediately. It was a beautiful day but we chose to sit inside, the sunlight was peaking through so we got the best of both worlds. Service was good and they were very attentive. I ordered the French Toast with a side of scrambled eggs. A satisfying meal, although the French toast was a little too crispy not in a burnt sense but more of the ingredients they used to give it a crunch. The bottomless mimosas were great, we were definitely searching for that bottom. I'd recommend, a solid brunch spot that's walkable to the pier.

Yelp
I've had The Independence bookmarked and wanted to try since the pandemic. Came here with the dogs on a Friday afternoon for brunch without reservation and were instantly seated on the patio. I ordered: BUBBLES & BERRIES (5/5): Super refreshing and carbonated cocktail with champagne and a scoop of sorbet. Definitely on the sweeter side but tasted great. THE CLASSIC BREAKFAST (5/5): Standard breakfast plate with scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast with jam. I had no complaints! TRUFFLE FRIES (5/5): Crispy fries that smelled so delicious with the truffle Parmesan cheese. Could not stop eating! Cute lil brunch spot close to the boardwalk that did not disappoint.

Sarah W.

Yelp
Cute little brunch place in Santa Monica -- came here for a friend's birthday and had a great time! The bottomless mimosas were fire and so was the Louisiana Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Super flavorful, delicious cole slaw, and perfectly buttered buns. Also tried the Brunch Burger -- a little more on the bland side, bacon lacked flavor. Overall a good experience!

Maeve C.

Yelp
Food was super yummy - I appreciated the amount of cheese on my pasta. Service was good, space was modern and intimate, nice for a night out drinking or date spot.

Jessy Briton H.

Yelp
A chill place not far from the beach. We enjoyed Easter brunch here last week. The service was stellar and the food was perfectly portioned and well seasoned. We arrived early for our reservation and it was no problem getting seating. I had the classic breakfast and it did not disappoint. 5 stars.

Daniel B.

Yelp
Ordered the smoked wings 'cuz the pictures looked fantastic on Yelp! Bartender forewarned me their sauce was incredibly hot, and I love me some spice, and the thrill of it -- like my tears make it a rollercoaster ride. Indeed, I was eager for the challenge. To my dismay. The sauce... wasn't hot. At all...... It was less milder than your average supermarket sauce. To a certain extent, 'hotness' is subjective, but his contention was a little bit mere puffery/extremely exaggerated. The wings were actually nice, but the sauce was weaker, and needs more punch. Oh yeah, and the female hostess was uninviting. I noticed they close like earlier than most bars near the promenade. When I relayed my observation she curtly replied 'We are not a bar, we're a restaurant.' Okay, no crap, but you do have a bar in the restaurant, so what's your point?!

d S.

Yelp
Great ambiance & good food. The service was polite and professional. Really appreciated the decor like an old Coffe house.

Santa C.

Yelp
Lousy food, had fish n chips and fries are cold, fish was so oily, kitchen should had let it dry before bringing to customer. Service was ok, nothing special, the guy who hosted us seems he doesn't want to be there. Not recommended. Avoid this restaurant.

Gregg L.

Yelp
Stopped in here on Saturday because I hadn't had it in a while and wanted to give it another try. Overall it's probably somewhere in the 3.5 range, but a 4 star felt too high compared to other 4 stars I've given. Food was okay. I got a burger and while it was tasty, it was kinda just a burger. Also came with no sides for $15. Beer selection is mediocre. Staff kept forgetting about me and everyone else around me even though we were seated at the bar with THREE people manning it. Cherry on top is when the bartender accidentally kept my credit card so I had to walk all the way back to the restaurant because I couldn't pay for parking without it. Probably won't be back to this one.

Christine T.

Yelp
Nice happy hour prices with good drinks and classic food that had big portions (Note: the happy hour and dinner food prices are drastically different but the sizes are barely different so happy hour is much more worth!) Make sure you mention that you are ordering from the happy hour menu though, because they almost gave me the wrong bill. The service was nice though they did lose track of my order, which made me miss putting the order in by happy hour. Also they thought I had finished eating and tried to have me pay, when I hadn't gotten my food. The missing star isn't from problems with the service though: sometimes mistakes are made and I wasn't in any rush, and they apologized profusely and worked out letting me order from the happy hour menu anyways. (To be fair: you put in orders by texting the wait staff, and the time stamp showed that I indeed ordered in happy hour and actually had been waiting for a long time.) The missing star is because I'm not sure I would come back for happy hour/dinner, since the food was fine and the options are very limited -- and pricey if you're not buying from the happy hour menu. However, it is a nice location near the pier, and their brunch menu looked really good and they have bottomless mimosas for those interested! If I stop by again for that, I'll definitely update my review.

Jenny L.

Yelp
I love this place!! Definitely worth it to come for bottomless brunch ($27) and if you're a big avocado fan, the toast is perfect! You get toast with avocado spread along with a whole half avocado. Service was very quick even though they were packed! We waited for 40 minutes for brunch so I recommend making a reservation during busy hours

Audrey C.

Yelp
Was able to walk in and immediately get seated around 3:30pm on a Saturday, which was awesome. My friend and I shared the Parmesan truffled fries and a cocktail. The waitress was super friendly and attentive the whole time. Some of the best truffle fries I've had in the LA area! And you can't beat drinking a refreshing cocktail on a weekend afternoon When you mix the sorbet in with the champagne, the drink becomes a gorgeous pink color.

Jazmin E.

Yelp
We went for their Sunday Brunch as a group of 5 with a dog and did not have a reservation. We were seated IMMEDIATELY (thank you table Gods for this....we got very lucky) and the service and food were exceptional. We got a table on their outside patio area. They took our temperatures at the door and we appreciated that hand sanitizer was available for every single table. The menu was also on a QR code, and they have a cool and fun feature where you can text your server if you need anything and want to place an order. We ordered their avocado toast with bacon, an order of their parmesan truffle fries, the omelet with a side of fruit, fried chicken and waffles, the burger, and the eggs benedict. AS WELL AS BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS. (See pictures). Not a single complaint from our group regarding the food, service, or anything regarding our experience here for that matter. I want to add another thing that was appreciated. They communicated to us that due to Covid, there was a 90 minute limit on the table and the bottomless mimosas. THIS WAS DEEPLY APPRECIATED. The level of care they have taken to ensure we can dine safely and comfortably, as well as the communication is important. With the circumstances being what they are (with or without a vaccine) I can understand that there are people eager to return to normalcy, or whatever that means. Some people may be peeved by this time limit, but I urge those people to 1) check your privilege and 2) be understanding that policies and procedures have to be followed by EVERYONE. (Yes, even you Karen and Ken so sit down, mask up, and shut up.) Lastly, if you're not tipping 20% OR MORE, what are you even doing with your life? Stay home and hay comida en la casa. Don't be rude to awesome wait staff. We will definitely be returning!

Ken D.

Yelp
Per their website they shutdown October 1. What a shame this was a great place I will really miss their happy hour.

Tiffany K.

Yelp
If you're in Solana Beach you have to do Happy Hour at The Independence. The espresso martini is GOOD! The food menu was available in half portions. We ordered almost everything on the menu! Wings, Brussels sports, salad, pasta... and it was all delicious!!!

Dilenia A.

Yelp
First time and I will definitely be back here! The hostess and are waitress were sweet young ladies. The decor is so nice and cool. Love the booths/bar tables and the countertop tables. Music was perfect, it wasn't that loud, you can have a conversation with the folks in your party and not have to yell. The drinks were great, we had the Tijuana Mule (have it with the Don Julio tequila!) and the Espresso Martini (make sure to ask to use Tito's Vodka, you'll thank me later!). You don't have to have a meal with your drinks but we ordered Lil Mama's Cauliflower, which was a hit!

Erica H.

Yelp
Stopped in randomly on a Wednesday afternoon having never been here and WOW what a place! Joanna immediately greeted us with a smile and made us laugh. Ordered some craft cocktails from Amanda who made this spectacular concoction. There were loads of tables and they were clearly very busy but Joanna made sure we felt super welcome and Amanda killed it on the cocktails. I'll definitely be back because of these two ladies!

Chris K.

Yelp
My good friend and I used to come here for happy hour pre-covid and this past weekend was our first time back. We ordered a couple of things off of the happy hour menu-fish n chips, brussel sprouts, lemon and pepper wings and glasses of their hh wines. The fish and chips came with one fish piece and fries. We were surprised by the small portion, but we weren't mad. It was happy hour after all. Brussel sprouts were standard and the wings, although seasoned well, had very little meat to chew on. After happy hour, we still had wine in our glasses so we ordered the mushroom dish. It was super salty so we had to send it back. Our server was super helpful and kind throughout. We'd probably go back again but most likely after we tried some other places nearby.

Donna E.

Yelp
Great place to meet up with friends, enjoy a wonderful brunch and close enough for a stroll on Santa Monica pier or the mall to continue a fun day!! The service was fantastic and the food was everything you picture for California cuisine.

Bev S.

Yelp
This was a really cute spot for brunch. They had bottomless mimosas for 90 minutes. The staff was super nice and covid restrictions definitely were followed . I had the Nashville chicken which was delicious. I took a star away because of the lengthy wait time and the service being on the slower side

Tiffany H.

Yelp
Super good food! Orders chicken and waffles, it was my first time eating it and it was amazing! Chicken was moist, had a small kick of heat that anyone can handle, and a good crunch from it being fried. The waffle was soft, moist, and lighter than a regular waffle. Definitely try it!! My husband got the salad and fries. They were good as well but as good as my chicken and waffles (haha)

Chris B.

Yelp
Went to this place a couple of weeks ago to meet up with a friend and as soon as I walk in the host or the manager, I'm not sure who he was but not in a customer service voice he simply asked me "what can I Do for you ? " which to me was kind of a odd way to ask someone that's looking to eat at your empty establishment on a Friday evening. Met up with my friend, the service from both of our waiter & waitress they were on it and made sure we was good. The food was good, and the drinks were good and strong as well, However, we had a family of gnats flying at our table that would not go away. After we left waiting for a Uber we noticed a few families of gnats at the front door. I might give this place another try but won't be anytime soon.

Madeline F.

Yelp
Great place to enjoy some quality American food. Great location! Burger - solid burger but bread to meat ratio was very high (6/10) Truffled Parmesan truffle fries (8/10) DELICIOUS! Favorite thing we got. They were shoestring fries that were extra well done and covered in Parmesan. Highly recommend Chicken wings (8/10) delicious. We got mild and they had a kick so be warned. They were juicy and looked as good as they tasted. Almost greek salad (9/10) - LOVED this simple salad. Will try to recreate at home for sure. Would come back for this for sure. Great atmosphere, solid food, a bit pricey but we're in downtown Santa Monica so is expected. Would love to come back!

Kate S.

Yelp
It's the best brunch place to go to if you're looking to spending a quiet, relaxing time with your friends with your pet or just yourself. Staff was nice brunch was so good!

Jessica C.

Yelp
We have not been to Santa Monica for almost 3 years. We picked a Wednesday for the farmers market; it was like walking down memory lane. It's a little sad to see that lots of our favorite restaurants were no longer opened. We walked into a elegant place called The Independence; immediately I liked the name! The interior was bright and comfortable , the service was just right, the food was delicious. We had a brief discussion with the manager. I wish I could have told him that hopefully everything will be ok, eventually people will be back if you provide a great place for customers to enjoy. We will recommend all our friends. In fact when my brother's family in town we will bring them to here for sure!

KC C.

Yelp
Keeping it simple: Food, drinks, service..........all five stars! Portions are large and they do offer a pretty good bottomless mimosa (I think it's $27 and limit is 1 1/2 hours). We did not take advantage of it, but we ordered one glass and it was filled to the brim. And they go light on the juice, making it full of the good stuff. Food quality and taste was there and service was FAST. Would definitely come back.

Kaelaunie B.

Yelp
Came in for lunch hour and was greeted by Douglas. The space is really cute and wasn't busy during a Friday afternoon. We ordered a Bloody Mary, the strawberry margarita, the lunch time omelette and BLT with sweet potato fries. All menu items are ala carte but the quality of the ingredients and preparation is apparent. The service was super attentive throughout and it was a great brunch time spot. I've been on the hunt for a good spicy Bloody Mary and this one was delicious and poured well. Can't wait to come back on the weekends when they offer brunch items like the chicken and waffles. There's also parking in a garage near by or if you're lucky there's street parking but it is near the beach so I would be mindful of busy hours.

Michelle L.

Yelp
My friend and I came here on a whim on a Friday night to celebrate my birthday. I did not expect it to be as good and enjoyable as it was, but The Independence really blew me away! First off, the drinks were amazing. My friend who loves mezcal mentioned that to our server, and he had the bartender make her his special house drink. I personally don't like mezcal that much, but I tried it and it was incredible! Unfortunately, it was an off the menu drink and the bartender wouldn't reveal his ingredients, so I can't describe it well! I think it might've had egg whites and lemon? I recommend asking for it! I also got the not melon mule. I was a little afraid of it being too sweet, but it was delicious, not too alcohol tasting, and light/refreshing! For the food, we ordered the truffle parmesan fries, house caesar salad with fried chicken, and the branzino. All were amazingly flavorful and paired well with each other. There wasn't anything I hated about any of them! The server also gave us their house oysters on the house (haha) since it was a new menu item they were trying out. I wasn't sure of the difference between the three oysters, but they were all fresh and incredible. Service overall was amazing. Our server brought out our dessert with a giant firework sparkler on it. That was definitely a surprise haha. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Food is quite good, service could be a little bit better. It's an easy restaurant to get to and they usually always have a table open.

Yelp
Great brunch at The Independence! They were able to accommodate our larger party on a Saturday morn right at opening which we loved!! The menu was great and the food outcome was even better! (See pictures) Our server, I believe Chris (according to my texted receipt), was so personable! What a great guy. Because of the texting confusion we weren't exactly sure if orders could be put in my text or only with the server. Because of this, one of our guests didn't get in her order, but it was very quick to come out once we let the server know the confusion! I had the brunch burger, and it was incredibly filling, but delicious. My friends avocado toast was the star of the table, as you can see for yourself. To my knowledge everyone was pleased w their food. Thanks The Independence!

Yelp
My friend selected this place for brunch, more because they offered bottomless drink options rather than having good food. We came as a group of six and were seated at a table inside. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. This place is probably one of the most dog-friendly places I've ever seen - they let me eat inside with my dog sitting inside on my lap the entire time. The prices for main dishes at brunch start from $15, so it feels a lot cheaper than other brunch places. The food, at least the salad that I had, was pretty average and nothing special at all. I think I could have made a better one. My other friends that I came with got things like the french toast and fried chicken and waffles. Their dishes looked good and they seemed like they enjoyed their dishes a lot more than I did. I don't think I would come back here based on what I ate this time, but appreciated them letting me have my dog inside.
