Vegan lovers, take notes! If you're celebrating St Patrick's Day next year, don't expect what you'll have from the Irish Bank Bar. If there weren't any veggie selection in either light or pub faire, go to another Irish restaurant where they might have limited veggie options.
Dining outdoors at the Irish Bank Bar in 10 Mark Ln still wasn't the right idea for me when it's chilly. But at least I did enjoy having company, a group of 2 or 3 who shared with my table. By the time the next 2 people who needed my seat had arrived, I had to get up after I finished dining. The waiter was so kind to hand me back my credit card in advance once I was about the music venue. Since it's St Patrick's Day this year, a female merchant kindly handed out the merchandise to whoever attended the event. Plus, I got to stick around to hear at least 3 modern traditional Irish songs after I finished my fizzy alcoholic cider. The 500 Miles was the most familiar and catchy song we Americans fall in love with every time. A good race to the finish line!
On to some ethnic eats! Everyone's light faire was Wild Field Greens Salad, with grilled chicken chunks of course. There's no dressing since the flavor was enough to cover all the leafy greens and purples. My pub dish was the Corned Beef and Cabbage (C and C for short) with mashed potato. Corned Beef, known as poor man's beef, didn't need knifing since it fell apart using my compostable fork. Its texture had a good average beef flavor. The layers of the cabbage was as thick as the iceberg lettuce, just plain crunchy. Also, I tried the horseradish, and it's as strong as wasabi when it hurts my nostrils. Still, it's good to clear my sinuses.
It's very important to broaden your horizons, just like when you're on a magical trip to Dublin, in a comfort of your own home. Even though I haven't had travel plans outside of the Bay Area, it's a great idea to try new things here. Hope everyone had as much fun as I did.
Slainte!!
