The Ivy Hotel

One of my favorite stays in Chicago! The venue is uniquely located to many popular attractions, it’s convenient. The service I received from Sierra at the front desk was above and beyond in addition to swiftly helping me upgrade to the Ontario suite from the King suite. No valet service but parking was easy; the garage is a left turn from Ontario street, then immediate right after Starbucks. Fun, modern vibes as you walk in! The first thing I noticed was how spacious the rooms were, especially the bathroom. Looking forward to staying here again on my next visit to Windy City! Cheers to the IVY team!

Stayed here in May. Rooms were nice and staff were friendly; however, the rooms were very, very hot. So hot that we struggled to sleep. The thermostat did not work, and when we realized this, it was late at night. Upon check out, we were honest with the front desk when they asked us how our stay was. The front desk admitted that their air conditioning was broken and someone was coming to fix it. The woman at the front desk said management would reach out to us via email. I never received an email, but I have been getting their marketing emails! This is the main reason for the 1 star review.

The photos online and description was way better than it actually is in person. My boyfriend and I got sick from the food we ordered on the roof top. We ordered a few things but…. The flat bead was flat out disgusting. Service was slow but they weren’t busy, our waitress was kind of rude. Elevators are extremely slow. Our sheets had stains on them or were not clean, hair left over in the bathroom. Location was pretty good for the price but everything else was definitely lackluster.

Our non-profit organization hosted an event at the Ivy Hotel and we were so well taken care of by Allison. The planning was easy, and she kept our budget in mind when last minute changes needed to be made. We were initially scheduled to be on the rooftop, but rain was forecasted the morning of the event. Luckily, they accommodated us on the floor below in one of their ballrooms and still allowed our organization to have access to the rooftop. If you are planning an event in Chicago, consider this your top pick. Easy to work with, accommodating, and we were allowed to set up ahead of our scheduled time.

Nice hotel in a great location. I would like to point out the good points of the hotel: 1. Excellent location, near important landmarks for tourists. 2. The king suite is very large, comfortable bed and has an extra large bathroom. 3. Nice and kind reception staff. The points that negatively affected the hotel score in my opinion: 1. Even though we were in the king suite, and even though the bathroom has a bathtub, no bathrobes were provided, only towels and a small number of them, as well as slippers that were not provided. 2. No free bottles of water were provided (that could help guests who come to tour the city), the mini bar is very expensive and only provides a small bottle of water (at an excessive charge). 3. The sofa in the room looked a bit dirty and it seemed that some parts of the sofa had been replaced (it has nothing to do with the design but only the cleanliness of the sofa). 4. No tea was offered for the coffee machine in the room and when we asked the reception/room service if we could get tea pods we were told that there were no tea pods and that we could order for a fee (at a price that was quite high). I will conclude by saying that the hotel is good, in a good location and at reasonable prices.

I had high hopes for this hotel. The reviews were good and the pictures looked great. Alas it was meh.||I stayed in the Ontario Suite. It was well layed out. The bathroom has a large show and huge bath. The lighting was so dim however that it was hard to see in the mirror. ||The sitting area was a nice size and the couch was comfortable. The desk and dresser was all banged up and scuffed. The tv in the sitting area was tiny and did swivel or pull off the wall.||The view was of an apartment building across the street. Not worth the upgrade to the Ontario Suite. ||The hotel itself needs a little TLC.||It was ok, but I probably would not stay there again.

Stayed here for a few nights while in town for a conference. I stopped staying at conference hotels because they're loud and I like to get away from the conference vibe at a certain point. Really, really glad I chose the Ivy to stay at, instead. Probably the best I've ever slept in a hotel. Bed, bedding, and room were super comfortable, the shower had awesome water pressure, and the floor I was on was super quiet, all of which are the top 3 things I want in a hotel. Also, they let me into my room super, super early since I had a red-eye flight in, which was amazing. There isn't much in the way of amenities other than the basics, which doesn't bother me, but is worth noting if you're looking for gyms and office centers and stuff. The only real complaint I had was, like other reviewers said, the TV situation was pretty lame--but not worth docking a star because I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Chicago regardless.

Don't be fooled - this is NOT a luxury hotel. Booked this hotel for a long-weekend getaway with my wife based on the great reviews, but was left extremely disappointed. Other than a good location easily walkable to restaurants/attractions, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Issues we encountered during our 3-night stay:||* Room was not exactly clean when we arrived. Had to ask housekeeping to mop the floors while out our first day.|* Room furnishing were cheap and shabby. The carpet under the bed in our King Suite room had so many stains, it looked like a frat house item. |* Ordered appetizers from room service our first night before going out. Food arrived and was inedible. Meat on the circuitry plate was rancid/rotten and the cheese was warm (not in a good way). Sent the food back, asked for a refund, but was still charged on check-out.|* Mattress was terrible. My wife almost slept on the couch our last nigh it was so uncomfortable.|* There is no ice machine in the hotel. Anytime you want ice, you have to go to the lobby (they will not deliver it to your room) and ask the front desk for a bag of ice. A real hassle, and the staff looked annoyed almost every time I asked for ice.|* The hotel appears to be very understaffed. Only one person at the front desk. No bellhop or valet. Lobby bar was empty and unstaffed. Employees were not rude, but seemed annoyed like we were bothering them.||For the price, I'm sure there are far better options in the area. Avoid at all costs.

Nice Boutique Hotel in downtown Chicago. There are fourteen floors of rooms with approximately 6 rooms per floor, with contactless check-in and check-out options. Experience sleek and modern luxury in the very spacious rooms. I stayed in the Ontario King Suite, which features a large living room, a king bed, 2 flat screen tvs, a mini bar, and a large bathroom with a rainfall shower and an oversized soaker tub. The entire experience at this hotel feels like elegant apartment style living! Fair warning, the fully-stocked mini bar items (vodka, tequila, wine, beer, etc) in your room are very, very expensive. However, the hotel also features a small lobby bar and a gorgeous rooftop bar!

Beautiful hotel. Aesthetics were amazing in the lobby and in the rooms. I didn't reserve it for us but I would have reviewed the amenities. There was no microwave in the room but there was a fridge. There was no vending machine in the building. They recommended you to go 7/11 around the corner. No ice machine on the floors. If you wanted ice, you had to go to the front desk. The mattresses and couch cushions seem very worn down. The parking garage was also around the corner as well. If you are just in and out for a night, I think this is great but not for an entire weekend or week.

Great hotel and great location. Rooms are huge! I will be back in December over the holidays.

The ivy hotel was very nice. We got a king suite for a very good price (under 150 per night). The room was very nice and spacious. It had its own living room, desk, huge king bed, bath, and other nice amenities. The hotel let us check in early spontaneously as well which was nice. My only complaint was that there was no microwave so I couldn't heat my leftovers and had to toss them out but oh well .

This hotel was very spacious considering it was right in the heart of downtown Chicago. We had a king suite that included a king bedroom with TV, a sitting room with TV and push button draperies, a small bar area with a sink, an umbrella in closet to use and return (really helped as it rained two days during our start), and a bathroom with a separate rainfall shower and huge soaker tub. The sky terrace was nice. The staff were very responsive. And again the area was within walking distance of most attractions: Magnificent Mile, Bean, SkyDeck, Architecture River Cruises, Casino, and much more. The only downside was the 59.00 a night parking offered with hotel. We later found out there were some less expensive garage parking in the area. TIP- save yourself 30.00 a night and book through third party. I will update once final incidental charging is done as I see a lot of complaints about the incidental charges. We never used the mini bar and only parked for one night. Hope the billing allows me to keeps this a 5 star review!

a VERY cool Hotel in an amazing area. We stayed at The Ivy Hotel based off of reviews online and we were very pleased with our stay. The good The staff was so friendly, the room itself was gorgeous and so spacious. The area was perfect, so close to everything. The bad Upon entering the hotel, we were a little nervous. The doors were broken and the bar was empty. The check in counter is at the end of their dark entry. The check in was fine, just a little weird with the constant reminders to give them a good review. The elevators were sketchy, they shook, made weird noises, and did not feel super safe. The rooms do NOT have noise deadening walls. Our neighbors and people above us were so loud. We could hear every word they said and every step they took. With all that being said, we would probably return if the price was right. For the right price it's definitely worth it, especially with how amazing those rooms are.

This was my first time staying at this hotel and I have to say the service was amazing the location was great and the room was very comfortable. I stayed in the queen suite which was very roomy and nice. Great hotel and room for a family vacation. Parking was just around the corner. Everything was walking distance. I highly recommend this hotel.

Just stayed at this hotel for two nights. The hotel was clean, really nice looking and staff was friendly and helpful. My first room had some issues with the TVs and just wasn't working after staff came to troubleshoot. We ended up in another room that night but the second room had no hot water in the room. They couldn't troubleshoot it that night but they offered to let us use the shower in another room. Kinda awkward so I refused. They mentioned they would look into it in the morning but no one came. I got free breakfast but no hot water was pretty uncomfortable. Won't be coming back.

Had room /towel issues. Was resolved however. Hotel Not as upscale as anticipated so reason for 3 star rating.

My boyfriend and I decided to do a staycation this year. Last month he made a reservation here for 2 nights and 3 days. The hotel had a special deal for half of the hotel rooms and of course, he took the deal. When we arrived the young lady was nice and friendly. We check in early and she upgraded our room. We were on the 13th floor facing Ontario. The room was nice. The queen size bed was comfortable for me and my boyfriend. The living room was cute with a purple chair which I love. The light fixture I love is very modern. We both love the bathroom. The rain shower head was sexy and we want one in our studio getting fresh towels was nice too. For sure we will be back staying at The Ivy.

I checked into the IVY hotel for a one night stay last while my spouse was at NWMH overnight. Checkin was good. Upon walking into my room and turning on the lights, there were roaches scurrying around the room!! I was absolutely mortified and disgusted. ROACHES!!! It's truly disgusting. I will never ever return to the Ivy hotel. I emailed the general manager and told the front desk about the infestation and no reply or response.

Bed bugs. There are bed bugs at this hotel and the management was not only dismissive but negligent to concerns regarding my well-being or that of future guests. I would strongly urge people to reconsider staying here or--at the very least--request a copy of the professional pest report to see if they've been compliant with Chicago Department of Health laws. The reponse from management to my emails about refunding my stay and requesting confirmation that they would be thoroughly cleaning the rooms and completing a pest inspection for future guests was, "I am not offering nor approving a refund for your stay." The negligence for public safety is concerning, to say the least.

Beautiful and clean hotel. Lost of cute places to eat/drink nearby. The rooftop is also very nice too. Felt like a boujie lady here

Pros: * Location * Parking garage 1 min walk away under the Marriott (book ahead with iParkit app for best rates) * Decent amount of food options within walking distance * Nicely sized room with separate living room/lounge area * Rainfall shower * Huge, deep tub (bring your bath bombs and oils!) * Tv's in every room (inc. bathroom) * Fridge * Decently (sound) insulated walls Cons (in general and our experience) * Fridge already pre-filled with drinks to purchase leave little to no room for your own food * Only two towels in the bathroom. We called and asked for more, hotel attendant said "let me see if I can find some". They never came. * Room next door was blasting club-like music at 11:45pm on Sunday. Could hear through walls, but muffled. Opened our room door and the hallway echoed so loudly with it * Absolutely no smoking rule for this hotel, but same loud room was smoking weed - heavily. The hallway was filled with the smell and started coming in our room. We called the front desk and they did come up shortly after to address it with the loud room. Thankfully they were quiet after. The tub and spacious room are worth it to start again.

Wow- what an awesome hidden gem. Hotel has spacious rooms and an awesome rooftop bar and social space to bring guests (bar is open to the public, usually open until 11p). Great spot to pregame or meet up that is central to pretty much everything downtown. Huge fan.

Looks better online than it is. We enjoyed our stay here, but I felt like the room was a little run down. Floors scratched. Furniture kind of tired. And the photos all show this cool looking pink chair. We had no pink chair. The location is great. Couple blocks east of the Mag Mile. Plenty of shopping and dining around. It is a tight hotel so there are only maybe 4 rooms per floor. So that helped in terms of foot traffic etc. it was quiet. Saw a lot of reviews about the awesome staff at check in. Yeah they were fine. But it was just a normal check in. The bar/restaurant was closed when we stayed. Had to go off property for that. The lobby is tiny.

I love this hotel!! And I love the bar even more. The ambiance is so relaxing. It's also a very clean hotel. It's very intimate and I love the fact that there are only 5 room on each floor. Jillian was my bartender. She was amaaazing! Total sweetheart and she knows how to make a killer drink. I had 3 drinks and all three were really good! I don't usually order Moscow mules but a very merry that she made for me was sooo tasty. It was so good....I told her I would be back for more. And I most definitely will.

Fabulous hotel with service and staff of a 5 star hotel. Location is great. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel itself is fine. Comfy enough, convenient location, affordable. The true value is found in the staff. They go the extra mile, literally chasing you down the sidewalk to see if you need an umbrella. The bartender was great, the cleaning people do a really good job, (even if some of the bedding was stained), and the amazing woman Hoai Le behind the desk is employee of the month in my heart! I'd book another stay there if she was working. The room... could use an update on decor. Pretty cheesy furnishings, tv in a weird spot, not enough sunlight. We made the best of it by purchasing snacks to match the color scheme.

Second time here. First time had my Jimmy Choo boots stolen, staff said they knew nothing about it when I reported them gone within 2 hours time. Requested towels, never came. Requested ice, said I had to come down. No deadbolt on lock, had to come up with my own security measures. Security "guard" if you want to call him that, was sitting downstairs on his phone for hours, slouched over with not a care in the world. Complete lack of customer service from front desk even though I was a Hotels.com gold member with certain benefits. I would not recommend this hotel and am deeply disappointed in their lack of professionalism.

The IVY was ok but I did not like it as much as I had hoped. The pictures make it look like a 5 but in real life it looks more like a 3. The hotel is starting to show its age and could use a renovation. The rugs and furniture need to be replaced. The couch looks nice in the photo but is uncomfortable and some type of pleather material. Sitting in the chaise was better than the other seats. The bed and living room table are low to the ground, not user-friendly. Cable is an old moving guide and no HGTV or Comedy Central, meh. The room was not very clean and that makes you wonder what was cleaned. Old coffee was left in the coffee maker so it was not cleaned and the floors were filthy. It clearly had not even been swept, a task that should be part of the bare minimum. I was never sent a final invoice, something that should always be at least e-mailed. While it is not uncommon to place a hold for incidentals, I have never stayed anywhere that would just run whatever amount they want without telling you in advance, unacceptable. They charged $100 to my card. I was not asked if everything was ok when I checked out so I didn't bother with any of this. I never have this many little things go wrong and I travel quite a bit so it was a bit disappointing. There were some good things. The bath tub was great and the water pressure was good. The staff was nice. I did not get a chance to go to the bar but the bartender said hello to me when I checked in. You need a key card for the elevator and the front desk is right next to it so the hotel felt safe. The minibar was well stocked and the wet bar is a nice feature. The bed was comfortable. I would not pay the crazy prices you see in the summer to stay here. It has potential but needs a renovation and the staff needs better training. Overall I prefer the Aloft, Moxy, or the Acme, which are usually along the same price point.

We had a three night stay here and enjoyed our experience. Our check in was smooth and the desk attendant was pleasant and helpful. We stayed in the Studio Queen, which was very spacious. I liked that there were only 4 or 5 other rooms on the floor. The rainfall shower was amazing! Absolutely the best part of the room. There were two small issues that kept this from a five star review. First, the platform bed is a shin killer. We had to put barriers around the edges to keep from hitting them. Second, the rooftop bar was rented out for private parties two of the nights we were there. I didn't get the chance to check it out. Would stay there again if we were in Chicago.

I hate writing bad reviews but this was unenjoyable. We booked our company for a meeting (about 35 people) for two nights with two meeting spaces. They are not properly equipped to hold events, their staff does not have the level of professionalism that is necessary for a corporate standard. There was a city wide event going on that limited us to hotel options. Their notepads provided were blank pieces of printer paper, they did not make enough food for lunch, the staff was slightly unwilling to help us unless we begged for help. Definitely do not recommend events here. Great location, rooms slightly outdated but still relatively nice. There were three staff members at the front desk that we adored who checked us in and assisted with shipping (only reason it's 2 stars). However, as our group was leaving, one of the ladies at the front proceeded to raise her tone at us even as we were trying to keep calm with checkouts. Our team is always respectful and we really enjoy creating great relationships with hotels we stay at, however, this interaction was incredibly unprofessional. It ultimately ended in our team saying "We will never return to this hotel." I think it's difficult because the workers here don't seem to be equipped with the resources they need, but unless there are changes made, I would avoid this hotel.

I realize these are trying times but for those of us who have to travel during this pandemic presume that the hospitality industry would remain, well, hospitable. That's not really what I found at The Ivy. I checked in for my 3 day stay to the information that the hotel would not have any food or beverage support (so guests had to go out and forge for literally everything on their own), even though everywhere else I have stayed have supplied simple baseline essentials like bottled water and grab and go foods, here you had to ask the slightly desponded front desk staff "hey I'm not from here, which direction do I go that's less "coronavirusy" to find some water?" When I first got to the room; the bed linens were torn and tattered. They had removed the refrigerator and the television service was intermittent. While the televisions worked, there were only four channels to choose from...when the service was available. Walls of the hotel are fairly thin so hope you like the sounds of your neighbors' coronavirus playlist beats and late night/early morning self procured liquor store find sound effects. Maybe the strangest about my stay is that my "do not disturb" sign was on but housekeeping came into my room while I was there, TWICE! (I said both times that my "do not disturb sign was on" but that obviously didn't matter. I mean, who does that and why?).

I came to Chicago for my birthday and stayed at the Ivy for 4 nights. The location is great. There are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance so you can save quite a bit of money on transportation and get some physical activity in at the same time (a win-win in my book). One thing I really appreciated about my stay here was the attention to detail. As I mentioned this was a birthday trip. I got there late on a Thursday night and when I first entered I noticed they left me a card wishing me a happy birthday with some chocolate covered fruit. It was such a thoughtful touch and a great way to start off my trip. Besides the fruit, they also brought a tray of bite-sized desserts to our room daily. I liked that they left them for us if we weren't there to receive them. We weren't in Chicago to sit around in a hotel room all day! The suite itself was really nice. We stayed in their queen suite, which had a separate living area with a nice sized couch, chair desk, and a huge window. The bathroom was really nice too. It had a separate shower (rainfall shower head) and tub (which I always appreciate), as well as a tv in the mirror. Plus there's enough space for two people to get ready at the same time if need be. Since they don't have a fitness center on site they offer guests complimentary passes to a Planet Fitness a few blocks away as well as a yoga studio that's right next door, which I really appreciated because I needed to counter all the deep dish and donuts I ate. Price wise there were other hotels in the area of similar quality but with much higher prices. They also lacked some of the amenities that the IVY has (e.g. free wi fi) with rooms that weren't as big. Based on my experience, I'd definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Chicago and would recommend it to others.

I can't stress enough how much I loved my stay here! Thank you so much to all the friendly staff. Especially the women who worked check in on Thursday, 6/24/2021 (evening shift). She was so thoughtful and helped me surprise my boyfriend with a birthday gift in our hotel room. She was super discreet and attentive to place everything right before we got back from dinner. The rooms were very clean and I am so glad we stayed in a king suite, the upgrade is worth every penny! We had a mini apartment downtown. Close to everything, walked most of our trip thanks to this amazing location. Don't think twice and stay here !

This is our go-to hotel, but this trip is making us think we'll be staying somewhere else for our next trip. The valet parking is not in service during COVID, so we had to find a garage to park in. This ended up being cheaper, but we like the security of the valet and are willing to pay for that. Not the hotel's fault, but some (drunk?) person tried getting in our room at 4am by scanning their card and trying to open the door for about 10 minutes. The bath tub was dirty, and since housekeeping isn't happing for multiple night stays, we went to the desk to have it cleaned. The first person we talked to said no, they couldn't clean it since we already entered the room and wouldn't clean it until we checked out in two days. Thankfully someone else overheard and sent housekeeping up to clean it and tidy our room. Not sure what happened since the tub wasn't cleaned, but our room was made up. The couch pillows are stained, but besides that and the tub the room is clean. The room next to us plays loud music all day and night, despite hotel staff asking them to stop. Again, not the hotel's fault, but we've never had experiences before here like this. We've only previously been here in winter, and there seems to not be heat in the lobby or front bar. Being here for the first time in summer, there's no AC in those areas either. The rooms are huge and upscale, with an amazing bathroom. Location is perfect, being right by Michigan Avenue and essentially the center for restaurants and shops. I'm hoping this stay was just an off one with everything going on and room prices being lower, but we'll probably be looking around versus automatically booking here for our next trip.

Whoever the young lady name Hawaii I believe is very rude disrespectful and racist. She told me even though I've canceled online making a reservation that I will be charged a double fee for a no call no show if after 12am when I've arrived at 10:26om. She called the police on me because I was black and stated I harassed he when cameras show I was no where near her. She started acting delusional and calling the police where I hung up due to me simply asking a question n she was refusing causing conflict. She took a pic without my consent and it was 3 witnesses in sight

One of special hotel I ever stayed. Friendly staff, modern designer, roof top, good location, complimentary strawberries in chocolate, champagne, cheese plate with berries pleasantly surprised. Felt like in the Ritz Carlton, spacious room, everything electronic, mini bar, in the bath separately a shower cabin with a hygienic shower with a hose that is rare as in the apartments as well in USA hotels and a separate bathroom. I liked so much.

Awesome hotel! Rooms were a good size and everybody was very welcoming. Would book again when we come back to Chicago.

This was my favorite hotel I've stayed here over 20 times when I come back to visit home not expensive yet comfortable. The service is just getting worse and worse. I checked in at 3 and was told the kitchen would be open by 4:00 like it says on the paper. No I call he says 4:30 I call back 5:00 I call back the kitchen staff is running late.....I could've been ordered food if I had known but even then you can't have food brought up because nobody is here to bring your food up you have to go down. The point of a hotel is to relax!!!! They don't have robes available unless you're "VIP" this trip has just been extra annoying & I don't think my room was clean enough vs my typical stay and it's time to replace these old couches they are sinking in. And update the cable there's only basic 10 channels every other hotel is at the point you can sign in Netflix you clearly need some upgrades.

I stayed here October 17-20 and it was awesome! the place was beautiful, modern, and spacious. We stayed in the King Suite. I had a little bit of issues with our bill, but Leila got it all taken care of. I really appreciate her helping me, and she is awesome! I would stay here again, it's in the middle of the city, and at a pretty good price for the size of room you get!

Visited the hotel as a staycation for my anniversary. Great location for tourist attractions with plenty of parking garages nearby to select from. Overall we did not enjoy our stay and the customer service was not accommodating. When we checked in we were impressed by the size of our room and the amenities (fully stocked mini bar). While doing our own sanitizing of the room we noticed stains on carpet and Bed linen and then chips on the couch. After calling downstairs and letting them know our room was not cleaned (which is nerve wrecking in a pandemic) the front desk attendant assigned us to another room. We checked into the new room and there were some permanent carpet staining but we ignored it, however the phone in the room didn't work and there was no mini bar, radio, coffee or anything. We told the front desk and her response was "I'll make note" and didn't offer anything else. We ordered drinks at the bar to take up to the room and the bar was very limited (I get it, Covid cutbacks) but the bartender was very friendly and tried to give drink suggestions for what was available. While waiting for our drinks the bartender removed his mask completely several times - not cool. I was partly gifted the room so I tried to make best of the situation but after my experience I will not visit again.

Hoai was the best employee I have ever encountered. I have been to many hotels/restaurants etc. she was very patient and so kind. We came back from dinner and asked for sushi recommendations. She gave us a good place we will check out tomorrow. Came around the desk to chat with us, made our entire experience at the hotel! Would highly recommend especially when she is working at the front desk. Great employees and service which is more important to me than the room itself. The room was a bit scratched up but very clean and well prepared for our stay. We will be staying here again in Chicago next time we come again, all because of Hoai! She needs a raise!

The staff members are not honest. My jewelry was stolen from my room. I know in nice hotels you don't deal with this and found things are returned. But I didn't realize this wasn't a nice hotel. I guess the lack of a doorman should've let me know. I will never stay here again of course and will be seeking legal action.

If i could give this place negative stars I would. Not what we expected. Priceline made it look much more fabulous that what it actually was. The people at the front desk were all on different pages as to the early check in policy, and they never mentioned its a $40 charge to do so. I called to make sure the bar inside and roof top bar/ lounge was open before booking and they assured me all services were. Come to find out everything was actually closed due to covid and it raining for literally not even 30 minutes.. the blonde kid at the front desk was very rude and un accommodating. And the room was disgusting. Oh yes and the hot water for the sink didn't work.

Location and bathrooms are the highlights, but the service was really rude. We were asked to leave the hotel but the worker was demanding and unnecessarily harsh. It ruined our whole experience and we will never be returning. At the end of the day, I expect the bare minimum of kindness from a highly rated hotel.

LOVED IT. let's get the cons out of the way 1.) The bar downstairs isn't open- which is the bar in the lobby. It's gorgeous, but isn't open. I was totally looking forward to having a drink there. 2.) Call me weird, but the toilet paper was horrible here! (Yes, I care about toilet paper) it was like sandpaper. 3.) Lighting in the bathroom isn't right at all for doing your makeup. You're better off trying to do it in front of the long mirror in the room. Pros: 1.) Beautiful room - loved the clean, modern vibe the room has. The blinds and curtains close and open with the push of a button. 2.) service- impeccable. Our room was ready by 2 instead of 4. I received a text when the room was ready. When we left for dinner, we came back to two desserts and a note on our nightstands. 3.) the Rooftop!!!!!!! Top floor (16th). Cocktails are great and it is spacious. There's really not a "wow" view, but it's a rooftop and it's Chicago- what more do you need? The music was amazing but not loud- house music. True Chicago music. I'll definitely return.

This was by far the worst hotel stay I have ever had. For an amazing location and a nice interior I thought this would be one of the best weekends, the staff at this place was awful. They are extremely rude and it is not worth the amazing rain shower. I have never been treated with so much hostility. It also caused a panic attack on a member of our party. To add, the mini fridge in the room did not even work and there was a stain on the blanket. I would never ever stay again. I do not recommend

The Ivy Boutique hotel is sexy & modern with plush presentation and located within a short stroll from Michigan Avenue where you can shop & dine till your hearts content. We specifically picked this boutique hotel based on location and I love boutique hotels as they always give personalized attention. I would have to agree that the staff needs better training on customer service as one of the women was very abrupt & with little or no people skills, I did take into consideration there was a language barrier and cut her some slack as I do sometimes feel that is of the norm to not be as warm & friendly, hate to say that but sometimes so very true. I would highly suggest getting a Fun, Friendly & Energetic staff that is familiar with normal engaging check-in conversations with your guest. I can also agree that upper Management needs to be present and available at any given time when problems occur as we did also, nothing major but I believe the Fish rots from the head down. I would stay again as the Ivy is beautiful, clean and has a lovely location.

LOVE this hotel !! super nice, chic, and contemporary! and for a great value/ price + great location (right by magnificent mile). It's a small hotel, with ~5 rooms per floor (total of 14 floors). There are 3 room options -- standard queen, king suite, and double queen suite. We got a comp upgrade to a king suite, and it is beautifulll !! Double the size of the standard queen, and has it's own living/ siting area with floor to ceiling windows. Customer service is good and I love how they are so accommodating and pay attention to the small details, I'll list a few here: - free wifi! - no gym, but guest passes to nearby Planet Fitness and Corepower Yoga (!!) - provides iphone chargers and an umbrella - soaking tub with provided lavender sea salt & bath loofah sponge - amazing rain shower w/ black marble accent block - bath robes & slippers - Keurig coffee machine + mini bar with snacks & alcohol - high quality (ceramic) hairdryer - provided shoe polish & shoe horn - TV in the bathroom mirror (however mine wouldn't turn on) - platform bed (very comfy, but there's no top sheet... very odd) - allowed a late check out till 12pm - (tip) they can hold and store your luggage after check out if you have a later flight Overall, I had a great stay here and I would love to come back !! especially in nice weather for the rooftop patio :3

I have been wanting to stay at The IVY Boutique Hotel for awhile now. My boyfriend and I were going to Chicago for two days so I was looking around for good prices to see if I could actually make this happen. Getting a affordable price on a boutique hotel looked far fetched at first but I actually decided to call the hotel and talk to them on the phone, I received the BEST deal even better than anything on the internet through any website. We got a Studio Queen for $139. I was so excited. When we got to Chicago, our check in was at 4. We showed up thirty minutes early, pulled up to the hotel, valet took our car and parked it in a garage and for that overnight the coast was $50. Which is reasonable for downtown Chicago parking. We go in to check in, they did not care at all that we were early didn't even say anything about it. We received a surprise, and we got upgraded to a King Suite for additional no charge. We got in the elevator to go up to our room and you have to use your key card to get the elevator to even move. Really secure hotel. You feel really safe. We get to our room and it's glorious. That's the only way I can describe this room. Living room area that overlooks the street and buildings outfront. Leather couch, nice funky velvet chair. Flat screen mounted TV, Desk, Coffee Tables. The curtains were automatic, used to open and close them with basically a light switch. Then the next part of the room which is divided by a wall has a flat screen TV that you can pull out from the wall and watch from the king sized bed. The best part of the TV and where it was from the side of the room is that you don't hurt your neck at all watching TV in bed. Great lighting in the bed area, you can control the lights on both sides of the bed. Outlets for phone charges right next to both sides of the bed. Alarm clock with an iphone/ipod dock. The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I felt like I was melting into the bed and becoming one with it. Haha. Little bar area with a sink, cabinets with a keurig coffee maker, small refrigerator. Stocked with Voss Water, Don Julio, Grey Goose, Wines and other snacks. A closet in this area which had hangers, umbrella, and iron,and ironing board. It also has a safe in the bottom of it. My favorite part of the room was the bathroom. Stand in rain shower, his and her sinks, TV in the mirror, and a giant bath tub. I took a bath and used the lavender bath salts they had supplied. It was very relaxing. I took a shower later that night after we got back from a concert. The body wash, loofa, shampoo and conditioner they provide were really nice. The rain shower was amazing and unique. The bathroom also had a hair dryer and plenty of towels. The TV signal wasn't working in the bathroom, I probably just didn't know how to work it. I wasn't worried about it though. I didn't care to watch TV while being in the bathroom. It was still pretty cool to have though. The way the room is set up works really well for keeping the light out of the bed area. The wall between the living room where the window is and the bed made it so we didn't even know how sunny it was when we woke up the next day. It was perfectly dark and let us sleep longer because of this. However, there was construction across the street and we were in the very front of the hotel. It was a little nosey in the morning. But that's nothing the hotel can do about that. Other things about The IVY is that it has a rooftop Sky Terrace bar during the summer. The photos look amazing of it. I hope to go back during the summer and check it out. They also have a bar and dining area called the DiVine Lounge, right when you walk into the hotel. They serve breakfast and dinner. Free Wifi. That actually worked well and I had no problems connecting too. The hotel is very secure and safe. Very small compared to most hotels and intimate. They only have five rooms per floor and 63 rooms total. Very quiet and chill place to stay. We didn't even hear anyone on our floor at all. Our room was super clean and pristine. Which is a big problem of mine when staying in hotels. I'm always worried about the hygiene factor of it. I had zero problems or concerns while staying here. Besides everything else, The IVY is in an amazing location. It's a block away from Michigan Avenue. There is a seven eleven and a whole foods right around the corner. More than plenty of restaurants around. We walked or took an UBER the whole two days. Millennium Park/The Art Museum was a four dollar ride away. The House Of Blues was only $5 from The IVY. Great, amazing location. I will be returning to The IVY again, and I doubt I'll ever stay anywhere else in Chicago.

An amazing rooftop bar with excellent service! Thank you Jamir for making our special evening so wonderful! You really know how to treat your customers. The food and drinks were spectacular and the view was undescribable. I cannot wait till we return.

Hands down one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at in Chicago! Thanks for your great service and clean rooms and lobby. You didn't lose a high level of service whilst following Covid guidelines rigorously. Beautiful!

This room WOWED us...power shades..big room..clean..made a point to try and accommodate..went to rooftop and met a great young lady Made me a great drink..thx Groupon When we got back to our room it was FREEZING..couldn't figure out how to turn down We'll b back..more good than bad

Large suites, comfortable and quiet. centrally located. Surprisingly comfy beds! What a surprise find! The suites are large, well appointed, and clean. We had excellent service including housekeeping, front desk staff, and bar. Visit Larry in the bar ~ personable and enjoys what he does. Good food too! A medical emergency kept us here an extra night at the last minute. Mauricio and his team were concerned, accommodating and solicitous of any needs we might have and checked on us throughout the day as we came in and out from the hospital. Will definitely return!!!

The good - The rooms are big, big tub and shower. Automatic blackout drapes and the staff was friendly, made us feel welcome. The price was reasonable and centrally located. The bad - Horrible WiFi connection. It was soooo slow! The furniture in our room had chips and paint scratches on them. One of the rugs had a big maroon stain on it. Unsure what that was. We tried calling room service one morning at 10ish, there was no answer. We called several times including the front desk without any one picking up. I would rate it a 3.5, not quite 4.0 status but a tad better than average.

One of the best hotels I've ever been at. They could have Netflix like majority of the Chicago downtown hotels but it's fine. The room even has a doorbell. Very clean. Staff was nice. Gave discounts. Very nice experience! Love Love Love!

The Good: Generously spacious rooms with high ceilings, dramatic furnishings, and a secondary lounge and work space. Great location off the main streets downtown and within walking distance of many fantastic restaurants and shops. Fairly quiet and peaceful for a few days stay. The Not All There: Staff was fairly friendly but slow to respond during check-in and with questions or help. No gym, pool, or room service to speak of -- limited guest experience for a boutique hotel experience. Rooftop was nothing to write home about, we did a quick lookaround and found it was too hot (sunlight reflects off the surrounding buildings, no view as it's one of the shorter buildings) and too uncomfortable to merit hanging out for drinks. Great if you're not looking for amenities or are up and about most of the day (I was here for a conference and barely was at the hotel), not so great if you're looking for a full hotel guest experience.
