9 Bars in the Bay Area for Cocktails | Eater

"If there’s one genre of cocktail that lends itself easily to over-the-top concoctions and presentation, it’s tiki: the décor of the bar, the strength of the drinks, the number of recipes that call for fire. This downtown Sacramento spot has put together a twist on the Pan Am called Tropical Boquitas, starting with a base of Zacapa Rum, aperitivo, lemon, and orgeat syrup. From there, the paradise-adjacent bar adds heirloom pineapple liqueur for that tropical vibe and a smoking cinnamon stick for a final theatrical flourish." - Robert Spuhler

Had a great time for our daughter's birthday. The food was fantastic. I definitely loved the drinks. Tge place has a totally cute ambiance. And my only complaint was that the souvenir cups were very confusing...

Patrick McNeal

Google
Amazing, authentic fantasy Tiki decor, and perfect music selections (Tiki, lounge, exotica) tunes set the perfect mood. We visited early in the evening; the place is all-ages until 9 so my 17 year old daughter was able to come, too. The service was top notch, friendly, and helpful. The food was delicious, I loved the Loco Moco! Definitely worth the trip

Leonard Bottleman

Google
The atmosphere (decor, music and vibe) is tropical and tiki, as you would expect. Having recently been to Indonesia and Hawaii I found the Tiki Bird to be just as enjoyable as eateries further afield, but without the jet lag and with AC (but albeit without the beaches). The food is fine for what it is and the drinks imaginative and enjoyable. We have always had great service here.

Benjamin Englesmith

Google
The bar *looks* fantastic. The decor and visual atmosphere are basically perfect. It's obvious that whoever designed this space really cared about the details necessary for a great tiki bar. Unfortunately, what could be an amazing escapist atmosphere is somewhat ruined by the loud and out of place music that dominates the space. The drinks are fine. Nothing especially interesting or creative, but good for what they are. The service is equally fine. Our server got the job done quickly and continued to check on us regularly, but he also recommended drinks based on how they looked and not whether or not they were actually good.

Linda Kirkpatrick

Google
As a tiki enthusiast, this place was recommended to me. The decor is not traditional tiki, and I actually enjoyed it a lot more. Very clever and creative set up. Be sure to look outside, you can’t even tell it’s outside! the virgin painkiller I had was absolutely delicious, it had dole whip in it, and I got a strawberry shooter, which was disappointing and not recommended. It tasted like a melted frozen daiquiri. The bartender seemed like she was trying to talk me out of it and I should’ve listened! Overall, it was a quick visit I was alone traveling on business and didn’t feel particularly engaged by the bartender so I left. I do recommend it though.

Chris Hall

Google
Great atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive server. Drinks are labeled based on their strength which is really helpful. Definitely recommend stopping by here for at least one drink if you're bar hopping.

Krista Manwaring

Google
This place is really neat! The vibe was chill and fun. The bartender was amazing and entertaining. Other employees were very friendly and helpful. The drinks were so good! It was an enjoyable and exciting experience. Most likely will visit again the next time I go to Sacramento.

Jeremy Larsen

Google
Visiting from Nebraska and we are making stops on foot for a drink and the atmosphere here is really cool. Great drinks and the bartenders, Shannon and Savanna, were amazing! Gave lots of recommendations around the area. Cheers! 🍻

Yelp
Loved this place the energy is electric the decor is incredible it's like a light show!! Everyone is super nice and friendly drinks were incredible not just in taste but visually everything was on tiki bar theme Will have to come back here again on a busier night!!

Yelp
5 stars for ambiance inside the restaurant... 5 stars for the dole whip... everything else is just more of a headache. No matter what night you come here, during the week or weekends, it's ALWAYS busy. That's great and all for business needs, but when you just want a themed table or booth and it's crowded, loud, and obnoxious A... F.... it takes away from the experience at large. Even the drinks are not the most exceptional. I feel like a tiki bar / lounge aficionado because it's one of my favorite experiences with..... rum! But .... save your money, patience and time.... and try something else. Sorry Jungle Bird, you're just not bringing the Tiki Heat.

Yelp
The vibes were fun here and everyone in the restaurant seemed to be having a great time! The server we had was really nice and really accommodating because our group was small but we arrived at varied times and ended up staying for around 3 hours. So I really thought that was cool! I tried the veggie spring rolls, the mushroom miso Buddha bowl, and the Sriracha Mac salad. All were decent, but I feel like this is the kind of place where you come for the novelty and drinks over anything else. It was well-priced as well! I like that they have a nice amount of vegetarian selections and two mocktail options for those who have alternative diets / who may not want to drink. Something to note is that tables are technically timed and they may ask you to leave if they have a lot of reservations, we got lucky that that wasn't the case for us!

Yelp
Come here for the theme/atmosphere, but not for the food. Came here on a Friday night right when they opened. Was greeted with great energy from the two at the bar and seated in a space with very minimal light... so minimal it was hard to read the menu. Knowing it's that dark, it'd be pretty cool if they offered glow-in-the-dark ink menus. Survived with the cellphone flashlight. Ordered a few cocktails and three food items. The cocktails were just okay. Sweet enough to be creepers but you could definitely taste a decent amount of alcohol. I had the Saturn and Lei'd Back. The Pau Pau Platter was mid. It's meant for two people, but honestly, one person could finish it. Each app came with 2-3 pieces. Chicken wings: dry af. Coconut shrimp: burnt taste. Egg rolls: just okay. Rangoons: more wrapper than filling. Potstickers: didn't seem fresh. The Banh Mi fries were also just okay. Fries were hot and fresh, but they were drenched in way too much sauce, which made them soggy. The flavor profile didn't really hit like a banh mi... disappointing. The winner of the night? The dole whip with rum. I'd come back just for that.

Yelp
Had some drinks with friends after work on a Tuesday. Place wasn't too packed. My friend made reservation just in case. It was too hot to sit outside on this day. The vibe inside is along the lines of Pirates of the Caribbean. From the lighting and sounds, it was awesome. We had the painkillers. Favorite drink of our group! Tropical, good flavor, pineapple. My friend also ordered Pu Pu Platter ( wings, crab Rangoon, chicken potsticker, veggie spring rolls) and Banh Mi Fries (fries with pork belly kahlua pork, jalapeños, pickled onions, ranch). All were delicious. Staff checked on us often.

Yelp
My daughter turned 18 so we decided to try out a fun restaurant to celebrate! We walked in and the entry way was very reminiscent of the Tiki Room at Disneyland - very fun! We happened to be at the restaurant during Star Wars days (May the 4th be with you.) It was so dark in the restaurant it was really hard to see anything - menu, food, drinks, each other. That's not really my jam for a restaurant. We ordered drinks (2 alcoholic and one non) - Lava Flow and Don's Zombie We ordered the Chicken Katsu plate and the Fried Rice with Spam. It was good. Nothing to write home about. I don't remember the service being exceptional or terrible. We got our food in a reasonable amount of time. This restaurant is definitely for the ambiance - it's a fun environment, but not really a place to chat and catch up.

Yelp
This review is specific to the bar's annual Disney pop up "The Happiest Jungle Bird on Earth". Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Drinks: 5/5 Price: 3/5 Parking: 4/5 Theming was fantastic, drinks were on point, and the team is always the best with service. Another great year for this popup!

Yelp
First time finally getting in after a previous visit when it was too crowded--so excited to snag a spot for three at the bar! This Sacramento tiki bar totally delivered. The ambiance is spot-on, capturing that fun, tropical tiki vibe. The craft cocktails were fantastic, and the bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable. Bought the signature Rio glass for fun--such a great touch. Hands down recommend for a unique and lively night out! Recommend!!

Yelp
Really cool tiki bar!! There is a lot of inside seating and some outside in the back as well. The inside lights are dimmed and every wall is decked out. I ordered a pina colada that came in a cool coconut shaped cup, and was stronger than I expected! Our server was very kind and came around frequently to check on us and fill waters. I also appreciate that they offer food as well, which is not the case with other tiki bars in the area.

Yelp
Went to Jungle Bird for the Disney week and it was mediocre. The cups weren't that cute and they were pretty expensive. Some of the food items were out and we could only order off the Disney food menu. I had a reservation that I paid $5/per person/$20 in total, which was supposed to be refunded on my bill. The waitress said that it wouldn't be refunded on my bill and that I would get a refund later on. Well I never got the refund. Looking at the reservation, it specifically said I would be credited on the bill. Drinks were pretty sweet and I couldn't taste the alcohol. Glad I got to see what the Disney hype was about and I definitely won't be back next year.

Yelp
Despite being a Sacramento staple for years now I would always hear mixed reviews about Jungle Bird. Instead of ever actually going to form my own opinion I'd listen to people claim "it's not really a bar it's more like a restaurant." Or the big one "the drinks are too costly." Maybe I'm a cocktail snob but I think the prices for these crafted cocktails are VERY reasonable and they pack a lot of punch - aka they are strong. And this is for sure more a bar feel with limited food options. Before I go into the drink/food selection I have to comment on the commitment to ambiance. BEAUTIFUL. Absolutely love the music and lightening sound effects with a flashing light. The framed tv screen showing a volcano with weather changes. Whether you sit at the bar or in the back the dark lit room makes you and your companion or group feel like you are intimately interacting. I came with a large group of six people and we had a BLAST. However please keep in mind large groups will need to place a deposit of 5 dollars per person when making the reservation and the deposit will be taken off the final bill. The drinks here are just fantastic. I'm a coconut girl and the mon chi chi nut is incredible with the coconut flavor paired with the macadamia nut liquor. I'm officially on a mission now to recreate this drink at home because it's THAT GOOD. All the cocktails me and my friends got were fantastic and as stated earlier they are strong drinks! After only two I was feeling a buzz and hunger set in. They have limited food options, and I think some of the food is just ok but the appetizers were delicious. The crab rangoons and coconut shrimp were the stand out dishes. The poke nachos were good but wish it had more tuna, and the banyan burger was yummy but nothing special. After coming here once I convinced a friend to go with me another time and now I'm begging others to join me as well for a third time. YES the cocktails are THAT GOOD. So glad I finally had a friend drag me here for her birthday to form my own opinion and I can't wait to try every cocktail on the menu.

Yelp
First off let me say how awesomely cool it was that they had a Disney themed week / weekend with themed drinks/ mugs you can purchase. Not sure how often they do themes but the day we happened to go it was the start of their Disney theme. With that being said, here's why 3 stars was given. Cons 1: It was our first time here so of course we didn't know that you needed a reservation to get a spot/table, we found 2 seats at a counter across from the bar but there were two ladies who got their ID checked before ours and the host came over and said we had to move since those ladies were before us and they needed a seat. No big deal but the host had no regard that it was our first time and basically was like you can't sit there / need to move elsewhere and if you can find two seats at the bar good luck. 2: We did happen to find two open seats but we're separated however the nice couple agreed to move over so my cousin and I could sit together. As we're sitting there we notice how hot it actually is in there, like sweating hot and it wasn't just us. The people that ended up sitting next to us said wow it's super stuffy and hot in here. 3:Got the Mai Tai and although I appreciated the stiffness of it, it did not taste like a Mai Tai at all. Pros 1: Bartenders were awesome / attentive 2: Themes that they do 3: It's a VIBE for sure 4:They have plenty of options to choose from 5: They have single restrooms 6: They have mocktails Did not know they also serve food, would like to go back and give this cool place another try. HIGHLY suggest making a reservation especially during themed weeks otherwise you won't be able to sit unless at the bar or unless you come back at 12AM (midnight). That's when the host said tables would be available.

Yelp
Such a cute tiki bar! The whole place is decorated in full tiki style, which makes it feel cozy and super fun. It's not super big, but they've made the most of the space with different little spots to hang out--including a semi-private room with tables that feels perfect for a group. The drinks? Every single one of my friends ordered something different, so we got to sample a bunch, and honestly they were all really good. My only tiny letdown was the small tequila selection (I'm a tequila girl at heart ), but since it's a tiki bar, I can't be too mad lol. Overall, great vibe, tasty cocktails, and I'd totally go back again!

Yelp
Place was fairly chill for a Friday night. Yes there was a lot of people still but nothing like the other bars/restaurants around. We did not order food here but I would go back to try it out. One thing about this place is for a "tiki bar" vibe they have drinks for everyone. Usually tiki bars mainly have rum, and most people in my group (5) are all over the map for drinks so it was nice to see they have a variety on the menu for everyone. If you order any of the special tiki glasses, they hang on to your card to ensure they get the cups back, which to me is reasonable since people clearly were stealing their cups at some point. Overall I would return to try Jungle Bird again.

Yelp
Went during their Disney pop-up event. It was definitely a vibe. It definitely had some Disney feels which I enjoyed. I definitely enjoyed the drinks and got the souvenir cups to take home. The service okay. Our reservation was at 9:30 and the kitchen closing at 10, so therefore we were rushed to order and get our stuff, which is understandable, but still. I appreciate one of the servers trying to give me a different chair. The chairs were not hips and big bum friendly. Also the food was mid. I did not enjoy my meal. I wanted something else, but they said they were out of it for the day so I got the hamburger and fries. They were okay, just regular. I wish they would've Disneyifed it a little more. Add edible glitter, Mickey the burger, something. I enjoyed my dessert, which was the dole whip, wish I didn't get the sprinkles. Overall, I would only go back for drinks.
google avatar

Tawnya A.

Yelp
We came for the Jungle Bird Disney event and had an incredible time! Zion and Shannon took amazing care of us--super friendly and fun! The food was absolutely amazing. The Disney burger hit all the right nostalgic notes, and the tiki drinks were strong and fun (just the way they should be). We also had the dole whip and churro--both totally lived up to the hype. The place has that classic tiki bar vibe with a fun, immersive twist. Street parking was manageable. Overall, such a cool experience--we'll definitely be back for another themed night!

Richard S.

Yelp
Fun spot, cool bartender and unique set up. Tried a few different drinks and all were great

Yelp
We had a great time! There were 8 of us in the party and I reserved a table in advance. The servers were on top of seeing to our needs for the most part. I give them a break because they did get busy. Nonetheless they did forget about us, once we paid the bill. The variety of drinks were great. The variety and quality of food was good - we had heavy appetizers and mostly enjoyed them. The chairs we sat in were very wobbly and could be replaced. The bathrooms were in poor shape at best. I told the servers twice that they needed to be addressed because they were gross - and nothing changed for the 4 hours we were there. The lighting was dim and we needed to use our camera - but we wanted the seedy speakeasy vibe so for us it was perfect! This place was just that and I'm sorry I didn't take pictures, so you'll have to go experience it for yourself. I am knocking the score only because the service was lacking attention. A lot slow. A lot forgotten. I had to ask for more drinks - including water refills. And a disgusting bathroom was uncalled for after being informed.

Yelp
Whether you're visiting Sacramento or you're a local The Jungle Bird is a must visit. This Tiki Bar in Midtown is unassuming with their dark windows and green toucan sign during the day, but at night the bright green neon pulls you in. The bar is the place to be, but if you're more of a table person I recommend making a reservation. They have indoor and outdoor seating and they can be very busy during peak times. We prioritize sitting at the bar, which is first come first sit. You're able to chat with the bartenders, see how they make the drinks and meet people. We love to ask the bartenders for surprise drinks as well and they'll sometimes make fun drinks they're working on or some off the menu tiki options. Have patience, and be ready for a little wait when they're busy. The bartenders work hard and it's amazing how they remember multiple orders and work on multiple drinks at once. While the food isn't as talked about as the drinks, they have some tasty offerings. They also pair very well with the tiki drinks. Keep an eye on their social media for special drink menus and themes. They do fun things like Christmas, Disney and other themed options (complete with themed tiki glasses) at different times during the year. The painkiller, chi chi are my go-to orders but they have a variety based off what flavors you're looking for.

Yelp
Cocktails were fun and ambiance was fun! Fun place to take out of town friends. Service was good too.

Yelp
This was such a fun place to visit. My sister and I went for the Disneyland pop-up and it was cute. Loved the little Disney clues like the playing cards from Alice in Wonderland and the projections on the wall. We had reservations for 9:30 and were sat outside. They also had Disney music playing and good vibes. Our server was Evan and they were very kind and informative. We loved our drinks (Friend Like Me and Abominable Bombsled Bomb) and the signature mugs (which they washed out for us and wrapped for us to take home.) Unfortunately we didn't know the kitchen closed at 10 (30 minutes after we arrived) so we were unable to order what we wanted. We purchased the Main Street Bacon Burgers and fries (mid but decent) and the Space Mountain mini corn dog nachos (could've benefited from some more spice.) The desserts were amazing! (Churros of the Caribbean and Mickey's Toontown Treat) All in all, a fun experience.

Yelp
So came in today for the first time we had a great time it did take a few minutes to figure out we were going to order but our waiter asked us 2 times before we were ready to order our meals and drinks but our drinks did taste all a little bit off even my youngest son drink he got of a mocktell but the bahn mi fries were ok it's normally not normal for them to come with ranch but the ranch was good. Everything was good everything our group got but the loco moco didn't have brown gravy it had some type of other gravy on it and also there was no salt and pepper on the tables at all and also the restaurant looked clean from what I could see, I didn't see the bathrooms but it was also very dark and hard to see the menus and everything and the music was very loud like it was hard to hear people talking at our table even. The drinks tasted ok but all of them had an after taste to them it was hard to put your finger on. Some of the food sizes are good size and some are smaller than others. I would try this place again but with a different drink and also a good then I got. I also got the bahn mi fries and the jungle bird drink and they brought us water but it also seemed like they didn't want us to stay there long an have more drinks and food and everything and they charge $5 person on each reservation as well on their website and that's the only way you can get in to this restaurant. Yes they do need to change the size of their food because it's small compared to most and there drinks are way watered down and the restaurant has hardly no light so it's so hard to see there menu and everything. I truthfully feel I can make better meals at home then having such an over priced over expensive food like here any day it cost so much money for 6 people to eat here and then they include the tax and tip on the bill as well... but it wol be something I can say its something I did
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Cute and cozy. Good date spot but the music is loud so just be prepared to speak loudly at your table. Dark, themed throughout, clean and friendly. Would return.
google avatar

Diep N.

Yelp
Really cute place! I love going outside to the patio during the summer because the vibe is really nice. Indoor lighting can be kind of dark but the decoration is tiki Hawaiian style which is really moody and cool. The drinks are expensive but I think the ambiance makes up for it. They also serve dole whip which is a plus for me! We didn't have any issues with the service.
google avatar

Natalie P.

Yelp
This was such a cute tiki bar! They have so many good options for drinks! Mind you a lot of them are rum based, but they have a rating of how much alcohol you can taste. It was a good spot to go and chill with your friends. I really recommend the Ube cocktail. It was perfect amount of sweet and tart with an after taste of ube. We also got our drinks really fast for a Saturday night! It was less than a 5 minute wait. Plus all of the bartenders were so sweet. Can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Branden S.

Yelp
First thing, this place looks closed from the outside. Second thing very hard to read the menu with how low and weird the lighting is inside. Drinks were ok, I like shipwreck better personally. Bartenders were very friendly, I just think the menu needs an upgrade as far as the different type of drinks. If you know better you'll do better
google avatar

Chef Will G.

Yelp
Went to Disney Theme Event with Disney dishes and drinks. Ambiance Dark lights, old school bar, fun upbeat music. Service Our waitress Mariella was extremely upbeat and happy. She loves Disney and her job. Very attentive and lots of big smiles. The staff were very friendly. Food Mickey waffles and fried chicken. Very good. Spicy saracha maple syrup sounds strange but it works. Mama Odie's Monte Christo Very good but not the deep fried version like what is served at Disneyland. Cocktails Junglebird This tastes like straight alcohol. These are $13 if u have two of these u r done. Take an Uber. Un Poco Loco Tequila, watermelon, pineapple, lime and cantaloupe served in Stitch cup per my request, I liked it a lot. Great experience!!!
google avatar

Jackie P.

Yelp
Love this Tiki bar!!! the inside is sooooooo cute!! absolutely loved the ambiance, along with the amazing customer service that the attentive bartenders provided us with! the drinks were delish as well!! for the first round my first ordered the Buka Town Chi Chi and I ordered the Sarong Song, then for our second we both ordered 2 Sarong Songs as shown in the pic! will definitely be back again!
google avatar

Dawn C.

Yelp
Super fun spot. The ambiance is of course immersive, if you want to be taken to somewhere tropical. Or at least taken to a corner of Disneyland! ;) I always get the Don Zombie drink, which I like because I don't like too sweet but I haven't tried many others. I had the appetizer platter and the bao, both were great. My only gripe is I wish they would give an even number of each item in the appetizer, but other than that, recommended!
google avatar

Bianca M.

Yelp
Pretty cool place with some fun themed drinks! The garlic noodles were so very tasty. It's a bit dark inside and overall the daytime vibe was fun, but nothing spectacular! Still cool to try out and I'm sure more fun at night.

Lillith B.

Yelp
Loved, loved, loved this place......it was so special to me and many others I know as it reminds me/us of growing up with our parents when the Tiki Craze was going on. This place was always special and our first go to place until out last visit. This is a Tiki Bar which one would think Tiki Music would be playing to enhance the ambiance. On our last visit we noticed the music was not Tiki but some sort of rock music, my husband asked the bartender about the music and she told him that she "Got tired of hearing Tiki music and wanted to hear something else"........hmmmm, she got tired of it. We came in for a Tiki experience as well as many others. We were disappointed and made a point to get cut our visit short there and drink and tip elsewhere. I am sure the owner would be upset if he knew his investment and formula was being altered with because a paid employee didn't like the music he want's played. Maybe she should get a job elsewhere.

Traci J.

Yelp
What a cool, Hawaiian/Tiki-themed bar/restaurant! Friendly service. Great drinks. I got the Porthole Punch...and it was absolutely delicious! I got the Stir Fry with Ahi Tuna. It was really good. A bit spicier than I prefer but I liked it.
google avatar

Eric Y.

Yelp
Its a nice place to get a drink and hang out with your friends or SO. The drinks are great and match the environment of the bar. You feel like you are in the Pirates ship. Bartenders are great and will keep you entertains if you are into that. Get anything with rum here its great.
google avatar

Rebecca Q.

Yelp
We came here for drinks before dinner, made a reservation the day before for a party of six. We showed up a few minutes before our time and were seated immediately. The staff was very attentive, it took us a bit before we ordered our drinks, but within that time we had two different servers come up to check on us and they brought pitchers of water for the table. We also ended up sharing a thing of fries, which were surprisingly delicious and plentiful. My husband got the Painkiller and I got the Lava Flow, both were presented beautifully and tasted great. The atmosphere was great and everyone was very friendly. We will be back

Yelp
1 of 4 stops on my friends 40th Scavenger Birthday. Shoutout to the amazing staff for accommodating a party of 12. This was my 3rd time at the jungle bird. They have strong specialty drinks. The service is fast even with a large group and the fellow customers were nice enough to join in the fun. The bartender sung happy birthday to my friend and made a special blue drink for him. Fun time at the Jungle Bird!
google avatar

Sienna H.

Yelp
I visited the restaurant with my husband for the first time, and it simply blew me away. We ordered PuPu and French fries. Every part of this dish was simply amazing. Delicious spring rolls, perfectly cooked, with a classic but perfect sweet and sour sauce. It was simply amazingly delicious.
google avatar

April S.

Yelp
I had dinner here last night, and I was happy when I walked in because the place has a fun Hawaiian, Tiki-style vibe. The atmosphere was really impressive. We didn't have a reservation, so we waited about 30 minutes to be seated. We ordered the Poke Nachos, which were delicious, and the Pupu Platter was good too. Unfortunately, the Loco Moco tasted burned, which was disappointing. I had the Picchu Punch to drink, and it was great. The service was good as well. Overall, I enjoyed the place and some of the food.

Austin C.

Yelp
Great ambiance! Wife and I decided to come here and draw something random we saw while enjoying drinks. Thanks for the comfy stay The shared drink we had is called Tide Pool. Taste was mid, could be better. But tiki bars always have unique tastes to their drinks.

Yelp
Love that "the bird" is a block from my house. Walking by you wouldn't even notice it from the street (unless you look for the small neon bird above the door). But once you step inside you'll be transported to a kitschy tiki bar that looks like you stepped back in time. Dimly lit as windows are covered to block the natural light, decor includes carved faces & poles, rattan furniture and many other campy tiki bar essentials. There are several intimate spaces including a few thatch-roof booths and an outside back patio. For food, think pu pu platters - egg rolls, crab Rangoon, and chicken potstickers, burgers, Korean short ribs, and a few curries. For drinks you'll find all the tiki classics - Mai tai, Pina Colada, Lava Flow to their own originals but the star in my eyes is the Painkiller. It is by far the best cocktail on the menu and really one of the best Painkillers I've ever tasted. Servers are friendly but keep in mind this place gets busy so it helps to make a reservation for larger parties, weekends and any night during December when The Bird gets decked out for the holidays.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Great cocktails with a spin on some classics. Theme was carried throughout the bar.

Yelp
Just recently got a chance to check this place out! Last time I went the wait for about 2-3 hours. I assumed it was always that busy but I must have gone at a bad time. I had the Ube cocktail & the appetizer platter (cant remember the name). Nothing mind blowing about the food, but the drink was really good! I love the variety of cocktails that they have and its such a fun atmosphere in there! Will def. be coming back again and trying out the different drinks on the menu! It was a Friday night around 10pm, the person working the door seemed distracted on their phone and didn't see us until the bartender said something. I would just say I wish the staff at the front was a little more attentive. Our server was great and really nice :) I would recommend checking this gem out!

Yelp
I'll describe this place in one word: Tiki! This place reminds me of old Hawaii, and has nice lighting. If you like warm lighting, Hawaii themed places, this is perfect for you! Not only does it make me feel like I'm in Hawaii, but the food is really good too. I ordered, Pain Chilla, and Garlic Sesame Mushrooms. If you like Pineapple flavored drinks, Pain Chilla is recommended best from me. It has a cinnamon stick, and a pineapple slice which tasted amazing. Everyone was very nice and welcoming too. Thank you for your service! Will be coming back here.

Yelp
The staff was great at helping me set up a rum themed, tiki style night for my boyfriend's birthday. We had special requests and ordered in spurts- they were prompt and friendly. Everything was great!

Yelp
We had a magical time at the Jungle Bird! Please note, we came for the Disney event so the menu will be different but I just had to post a review. First off, this place is SO beautifully themed. The jungle vibes and dark mysterious atmosphere beautifully sets the mood for an escapism adventure! Everyone was so incredible too! Friendly, warm, helpful and efficient. Seems like a great crew honestly. The drinks were so yummy and well made. Not just juice and sweet and sour mix like some places, they really know what their bartenders definitely know what they're doing! Lastly, all of the food was delicious and well made. Definitely have to order the Pupu platter next time, it looked and smelled amazing! We come to Sac a few times a year and absolutely will be back!

Yelp
My favorite place for cocktails in Sacramento, I love the variety of Tiki cocktails and friendly bartenders. Recently went around New Year's when they still had their holiday menu, which has fun and festive twists on their drinks like the Jingle Bird.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for forever! I finally dragged my husband on a date night. Not gonna lie, I felt old trying to read the menu or see anything. Why you ask? The cute lighting just wasn't friendly to old eyes. It was a very cute ambience wise and the staff was super friendly. We only had apps and drinks. The drinks were amazing! We liked the chi chi and the pain killer. Recommend for a fun night out!

Yelp
The cocktails are fantastic. This is the best place in Sac for flavorful strong Tiki drinks. The menu is laid out well to guide you towards sweeter or stronger cocktails to fit your preferences. I've been a handful of times and always enjoyed my drinks and the atmosphere. However, the food and the service leave something to be desired. Service can be very slow although the workers are kind. The wait time estimates are extremely long if you don't have a reservation so plan ahead. Even with a reservation there is a good chance you'll need to wait a few minutes before you are seated. The food is pretty uninspired. I've only had apps here but they remind me of reheated trader joe's frozen aisle items. For how expensive the appetizers are I'd expect either higher quality or larger portions. I don't expect a lot from bar food but for these prices I do expect something more. If you want a tasty cocktail and don't mind a wait this place is excellent. If you are in a hurry or want dinner and a drink I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
