Speakeasy-Style Restaurant Coming to Historic Gaslamp Hotel - Eater San Diego

"Cosecha SD, created by chef Steve Brown, will be a permanent fine dining restaurant located in The Keating Hotel. Known for its speakeasy-style, the restaurant will offer a 16-course tasting menu featuring seasonal produce, foraged ingredients, local seafood, and Japanese A5 Wagyu beef. It will have a dedicated entrance from Fifth Avenue, a grand staircase leading to a bar, and a reception area with a view of the kitchen. The dining experience promises a 'dinner and a show' format for 40 guests seated at two long tables." - Candice Woo

Nice room, very clean and spacious! Perfect if you are planning to visit a location near or in the gaslamp quarter and a jaunt away from the beach. Staff was very helpful and kind.

Didn't learn ANYTHING from Gordon Ramsey. Typical pompous owner who listens to himself instead of his customers. Its simple ASK US and we'll tell you what WE like. My bedroom at home BLEW this room away not even close. I went to Thailand and my suite there was amazing and was 100 dollars a night. I suggest the owner stays in a REAL HOTEL so he can experience TRUE hotel luxury. Ive stayed in better motel 6s when i was in the Navy! !!! .DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!

Horrible room and experience for two 21 year old girls. Dirty and unsafe room. Door would not properly lock, and had to use the chair in the room to jam the door for safety. There is a full length mirror on the ceiling above the shower. The mirror just makes me think there are hidden cameras. There are 5 fire/smoke alarms in the very tiny room, which again makes me think that some may be hidden cameras in them as well. Then to have a fully open see through shower in corner of the room. If you’re not traveling with a spouse/significant other, this is not okay. At least put a door on it and frost it. The view out the window was on to a tarp trying to hide the neighbors and very close to the next building. The hallway had a strange, bad smell that neither girl could place. They ended up staying up all night and checked out first thing in the morning and went across the street to the Marriott. They lost the money for the nights they didn’t stay, and had to pay for her new hotel. Do not waste your money by staying at this hotel, stay at a reputable hotel and save yourself the stress!

Great location in the center of the Gaslamp district. Tons of food to choose from and very easy to walk around. Carlina and Oscar from the front desk were extremely helpful and kind

At best a one star hotel. Pictures online are a lie, as if staged. Not boutique at all. More like a low-quality hostel. No rug on the floor, just poorly painted cement, as if they just hose down the rooms between guests. No bedside lights, no bedside chargers or sockets. Only furniture, besides the bed, is a worn desk of quality like a roadside "freebie". No towel hooks. No coffee maker. No hot water maker. Actually nothing. Feels like a prison cell. Sheets and towels are clean. Walls and floor less so.

We had a smooth check-in experience thanks to Oscar, who was incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. He made sure to move us to a quieter room away from the street side, which we really appreciated. Later, he also went out of his way to assist us with our refund request and was very professional and communicative. Thank you, Oscar, for your excellent service!

A Hidden Gem with Exceptional Service I recently stayed at The Keating Hotel, and I have to say, it far exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed—but what truly stood out was the size of the rooms. They were way bigger than I anticipated, offering plenty of space to relax without feeling cramped. The sleek, modern design only added to the experience, making it feel more like a luxury loft than a typical hotel room. Beyond the spacious layout, the bed was incredibly comfortable—one of the best I’ve slept on in any hotel. It was the perfect balance of plush and supportive, making it almost impossible to leave in the morning. But what truly set The Keating apart was the customer service. Specifically, Alex went above and beyond to make my stay exceptional. From personalized recommendations to handling requests with ease and efficiency, Alex made me feel like a VIP guest. It’s rare to find someone who genuinely cares about the guest experience, and his attention to detail was unmatched. Overall, The Keating Hotel is a hidden gem that combines style, comfort, and world-class hospitality. If you’re looking for a place that not only meets but exceeds expectations, this is it. I’ll definitely be returning!

Yelp
My partner and I stayed here via an AirBnB booking. It was definitely subpar, but the price was alright. The elevator was a bit dingy, and the hallways were very dimly lit. No windows or airflow. The room was similar, poorly ventilated. Felt very stuffy, and the fan would in turn make the room very cold - it blew right onto the bed. We had windows, but they all faced right into the next door building. Our room had a king bed, which was actually two twin beds pushed together. Sleeping on it was not very comfortable, we could sink into the middle. The toilet would squeak and make strange noises for about 30 seconds after flushing. Other than this, the setup of the room is just okay. Definitely a studio/bachelor pad setup. The shower, sink and bed were all in the same room. The toilet is the only thing that's behind a door. Also, the shower has no door so whoever else is in the room can 100% see you naked. Would only recommend staying here with a partner, not with an entire family. Overall, it's an alright value for the price. The location is great! Parking is tough, so account for extra expenses if you plan to use a lot. Overall, I'd only stay here if I'm realllly on a budget. Otherwise, spend a little more and stay somewhere nicer.

Yelp
BEWARE!!! SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES!! (AKA THE MINE for Airbnb) I reserved a room for the weekend, canceled four days prior to my reservation, and they would not reimburse my deposit of $119. What I found so strange was that after three weeks of communication with the front desk staff where I provided credit card info, date I originally called, date I cancelled (even needed to show screenshots!), they then decided there was a policy of NO REFUNDS. It took three weeks to figure that out, although I specifically asked about cancelation when booking my room. After numerous requests, they would not provide me with a contact for the manager. Who operates a hotel like this?? Absolutely mind blowing. It's a shame since my wife and I have a son at SDSU and we planned to make this establishment our go-to during frequent visits. Will never go back to The Keating/MINE. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!
