The Keating Hotel

The Keating hotel is a phenomenal location. The rates are fantastic, the staff is friendly, check-in and check-out is a breeze. The superior king suites are… a bit of an unusual layout, but I think that’s a partly a result of the building being constructed in 1890. I’ve never had any sense of smell, but a friend who came by and visited described the hallways as smelling “antique” - as one might expect of a structure of this age. If you’re used to urban areas, the room is plenty quiet - but being in an urban area, this sort of “quiet” may not be what some are used to, especially if you spend more time in rural areas. I absolutely plan to stay again. It’s in a great location, and though the views may be a bit lacking compared to locations more beachfront, everything else more than makes up for it. Tons of great restaurants and bars within 1-2 blocks, and tons of attractions within a mile. Of note: I prefer to keep spaces darker than most. I’m particularly sensitive to light. As such, most of the lights in my pictures are turned off.

Honesty, super unique stay! Keypad entry upon arrival for the main entrance and your room. Clean and compact rooms with all the essentials, mini fridge and very comfortable beds! Right in the heart of gaslamp with multiple restaurants and bars within walking distance! About a 15/20 minute walk from the seaport area and a short uber ride to ocean beach, Coronado island and the airport! My room was near a pub with live music but it was never loud enough to disrupt my sleep and they provide earplugs!

This room was amazing, beautiful views, you get that real luxury Urban city life!!! Close to all the things to do in daygo, n if you like to party or karaoke you right in the heart (gas lamp) of downtown daygo plenty of places to go and everything is walking distance from The keating hotel as well as the customer service there. Such nice people there that go above and beyond to make your stay comfy and free of worry I would recommend this for Anybody!! get away with you’re lady, solo, or family either way 100% recommend this

The room's a bit old, but the facilities are super clean. It's really spacious, and the shower room's huge. It's so comfy! Plus, it's close to the convention center. You can get there in just a 15min walk. It's convenient and offers great value for money. I totally recommend it! Oh btw, there is fridge in the room and available microwave at second floor. This was the most dire place I'd ever booked. The place looks like it's meant to be hosed down after use and with no service, no ice and no nothing besides a paltry vending machine. So much was broken, stained or barely functional. It's basically a dirty air bnb. So bad we went to another hotel.

Great designed rooms by Pininfarina. Rooms with a view over the Gaslamp Quarter are great but bring earplugs if it’s a weekend. Service received from Oscar was TOP! Very quick and friendly communication at all times. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Highly Recommended : Exceptional Hospitality & Genuine Kindness I want to share my experience because this place truly deserves recognition. First of all, the room was spacious, very clean , and beautifully prepared. The service was very kind communicated clearly. They offered me earlier check in time. In case, the room is not ready, I was able to store my luggage as well. The location is very convenient and central. But what stood out the most was the incredible kindness of the staff and manager. When I explained that I urgently needed to fly back to Chicago because of my dog’s medical emergency, they were extremely understanding, caring, and supportive during a very stressful moment for me. They offered help right away, communicated clearly, and treated me with compassion. It’s rare to find people who are not only professional but also genuinely humane and empathetic. For that alone, this place deserves more than 5 stars. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful, clean room and truly exceptional service.

I had an incredible stay at Keating Hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The hotel’s location is in the heart of the Gaslamp District. Everything from restaurants to shops and nightlife was within easy walking distance. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting San Diego!

My partner and I stayed here via an AirBnB booking. It was definitely subpar, but the price was alright. The elevator was a bit dingy, and the hallways were very dimly lit. No windows or airflow. The room was similar, poorly ventilated. Felt very stuffy, and the fan would in turn make the room very cold - it blew right onto the bed. We had windows, but they all faced right into the next door building. Our room had a king bed, which was actually two twin beds pushed together. Sleeping on it was not very comfortable, we could sink into the middle. The toilet would squeak and make strange noises for about 30 seconds after flushing. Other than this, the setup of the room is just okay. Definitely a studio/bachelor pad setup. The shower, sink and bed were all in the same room. The toilet is the only thing that's behind a door. Also, the shower has no door so whoever else is in the room can 100% see you naked. Would only recommend staying here with a partner, not with an entire family. Overall, it's an alright value for the price. The location is great! Parking is tough, so account for extra expenses if you plan to use a lot. Overall, I'd only stay here if I'm realllly on a budget. Otherwise, spend a little more and stay somewhere nicer.

BEWARE!!! SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES!! (AKA THE MINE for Airbnb) I reserved a room for the weekend, canceled four days prior to my reservation, and they would not reimburse my deposit of $119. What I found so strange was that after three weeks of communication with the front desk staff where I provided credit card info, date I originally called, date I cancelled (even needed to show screenshots!), they then decided there was a policy of NO REFUNDS. It took three weeks to figure that out, although I specifically asked about cancelation when booking my room. After numerous requests, they would not provide me with a contact for the manager. Who operates a hotel like this?? Absolutely mind blowing. It's a shame since my wife and I have a son at SDSU and we planned to make this establishment our go-to during frequent visits. Will never go back to The Keating/MINE. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!

The hotel is very unique and beautiful. I highly recommend this place. Oscar goes the extra mile to help all guest
