Speakeasy-Style Restaurant Coming to Historic Gaslamp Hotel | Eater San Diego

"Created by chef Steve Brown, an Imperial Beach native, Cosecha SD will become the permanent home of his roving fine-dining pop-up in a speakeasy-style, non-traditional space at The Keating Hotel. Only open five nights a week, it will offer a 16-course tasting menu booked in advance online that highlights seasonal produce from Wild Willow and Agua Dulce Farms, foraged ingredients, local seafood, and Japanese A5 Wagyu beef. Diners will use a dedicated entrance accessed from Fifth Avenue, ascend a grand staircase to a bar for wine pairings or cocktails, and watch the team tray-pass the first three courses from a reception area with a view into the glassed-in kitchen; seating is limited to 40 guests at two long tables directly in front of the plating area so Brown and his staff can stage a true "dinner and show," and Brown has been open about his Michelin ambitions. Preview pop-ups during construction are scheduled for Friday, August 2 and Saturday, August 3 and can be reserved on the Cosecha website." - Candice Woo

The room's a bit old, but the facilities are super clean. It's really spacious, and the shower room's huge. It's so comfy! Plus, it's close to the convention center. You can get there in just a 15min walk. It's convenient and offers great value for money. I totally recommend it! Oh btw, there is fridge in the room and available microwave at second floor. Super convenient! (Bars street r below, check it out)

We can't wait to come back. Everyone was so friendly and kind and was so attentive to our needs and overall experience. The unit was better than we expected and we were able to recover from every tiring day since we were able to sleep well. There's lots of storage so we didn't have a problem organizing our things during our stay. Super easy to get to places and super walkable. You have places to eat and buy stuff from even after midnight. Very accessible and they were accommodating. I can't rave enough about their staff and hosts. I just appreciate them so much!

Great location, walking distance to so many great restaurants, bars, and things to do around the city. The hotel feels central and convenient for exploring San Diego. Oscar at the front desk was amazing; super friendly, gave great local tips, and even double-checked details for me. I’d definitely stay here again.

Loved the room & space. Great location, Would highly recommend. Had to move here due to my allergies due to carpeting at another commercial hotel. Loved the clean room with no carpeting. Was perfect for my trip. Will be back.

I loved this property and will book again when in San Diego. Clean, spacious, extra comfortable bed, awesome shower. Location is perfect! In Gaslamp but not noisy. Easy walk to convention center and Petco Park.

The location is perfect. Within walking distance to all the great nightlife that gaslamp has to offer. There are even late night restaurants across the street. The staff was very responsive, was always checking in as well. The place was large and spacious and clean. If I was to come to San Diego again, this is definitely a place I would stay at. Highly recommend.

Yelp
My partner and I stayed here via an AirBnB booking. It was definitely subpar, but the price was alright. The elevator was a bit dingy, and the hallways were very dimly lit. No windows or airflow. The room was similar, poorly ventilated. Felt very stuffy, and the fan would in turn make the room very cold - it blew right onto the bed. We had windows, but they all faced right into the next door building. Our room had a king bed, which was actually two twin beds pushed together. Sleeping on it was not very comfortable, we could sink into the middle. The toilet would squeak and make strange noises for about 30 seconds after flushing. Other than this, the setup of the room is just okay. Definitely a studio/bachelor pad setup. The shower, sink and bed were all in the same room. The toilet is the only thing that's behind a door. Also, the shower has no door so whoever else is in the room can 100% see you naked. Would only recommend staying here with a partner, not with an entire family. Overall, it's an alright value for the price. The location is great! Parking is tough, so account for extra expenses if you plan to use a lot. Overall, I'd only stay here if I'm realllly on a budget. Otherwise, spend a little more and stay somewhere nicer.

Yelp
BEWARE!!! SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES!! (AKA THE MINE for Airbnb) I reserved a room for the weekend, canceled four days prior to my reservation, and they would not reimburse my deposit of $119. What I found so strange was that after three weeks of communication with the front desk staff where I provided credit card info, date I originally called, date I cancelled (even needed to show screenshots!), they then decided there was a policy of NO REFUNDS. It took three weeks to figure that out, although I specifically asked about cancelation when booking my room. After numerous requests, they would not provide me with a contact for the manager. Who operates a hotel like this?? Absolutely mind blowing. It's a shame since my wife and I have a son at SDSU and we planned to make this establishment our go-to during frequent visits. Will never go back to The Keating/MINE. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!
