IT'S GOOD TO BE KING.
I visited The King of Meat in Sunset Park on a suuuuuper cold Tuesday night with my family, and the overall atmosphere and welcoming environment warmed me up right away.
The quality of the meat was very good, and the pricing was about half of what I have seen at similar steakhouses in Manhattan which is wild. Earlier this year, a friend of mine and I were determined to find the best steakhouse in NYC. We went to Hawksmoor, Quality Meats, Carne Mare, Benjamin's, Strip House, Harry's, Keens, and Gallagher's and this place actually holds its own against all the rest...in terms of quality and flavor.
The presentation stood out, especially the way the meat was prepared and served on salt blocks and accompied by jus. I had never seen that before, and it added a unique element to the meal. They also provided free garlic bread to start. I appreciated that the steak itself didn't really need to be super covered with seasoning because of the natural salt bed.
The service was attentive and made the experience feel comfortable from start to finish.
There is also a speakeasy downstairs with a fun? odd? spooky? Sexy prison vibe?? and they sometimes host events there.
Overall this was a thoroughly enjoyable visit, and I'm definitely happy to go back.
