Best Charleston Rooftop Bars or Restaurants With Outdoor Dining | Eater Carolinas

Best Seafood Restaurants in Charleston, South Carolina | Eater Carolinas

"The Kingstide sits on the Daniel Island waterfront, which is prime seating when the weather is nice. Diners stop in for a chance to sample chef Kevin Getzewich’s menu of creative fish dishes like crab agnolotti or a trout Rueben. There’s also more traditional dishes, like a packed lobster roll, and plenty of items to choose from at the raw bar." - Erin Perkins

My girlfriend and I had an incredible dining experience here. From the moment we sat down, we were taken care of by Josh, who knew the menu inside and out. He gave us some of the best recommendations we could have asked for. I even told him to surprise me with an entree based on the flavors I like, and he absolutely nailed it. The Blackened Grouper he picked for me was nothing short of perfect. Despite having a busy section, Josh never made us feel like an afterthought. He constantly checked in, made sure we had everything we needed, and his friendly, welcoming personality really made us feel at home. Every staff member who brought out our food or drinks had the same genuine kindness, which made the entire evening feel special. The food was outstanding. The crab cakes, oysters on the half shell, and carrot cake were some of the best I’ve ever tasted. On top of that, the drinks were top-notch and complemented the meal perfectly. After dinner, we made our way up to the rooftop where the atmosphere was just as amazing. The bartenders up there were just as friendly and welcoming, and the view made for a perfect way to end the night. This place gets a full 10 out of 10 from us. If you’re looking for a spot that combines phenomenal food, genuine hospitality, and a beautiful atmosphere, you will not be disappointed.

Every trip has one standout meal, the one you remember long after you're home. For our visit to Charleston, that meal was at The Kingstide. The restaurant's waterfront vibe is the real deal; we even saw a dolphin swim by while we were sitting down. The staff made us feel welcome right away, and we started with the seafood tower. It was an impressive spread of fresh, chilled shellfish and the perfect way to begin. But while the tower was good, the grouper was the highlight of the night. It was served over incredibly creamy grits, and the fish itself was cooked perfectly. It is a simple dish, but it's executed so well that it truly stands out. We came looking for a memorable seafood dinner, and The Kingstide delivered. We highly recommend it if you're visiting the area.

This premium waterfront restaurant offers an unforgettable dining experience that beautifully blends exceptional cuisine with stunning views. We arrived by boat after a leisurely sunset cruise, and the ambiance alone made the evening feel special from the start. The warm glow of twilight reflecting off the water set the perfect backdrop for a memorable night. From the moment we were greeted, the service was impeccable. The hostess went out of her way to make our birthday celebration feel truly special, accommodating our party with genuine hospitality and thoughtful touches that did not go unnoticed. The food was nothing short of outstanding. We began with the Oysters Rockefeller, which were prepared to perfection—rich, savory, and beautifully presented. Every bite was indulgent, a perfect example of how a classic dish can still surprise and delight. The rest of the meal followed suit, with fresh, flavorful ingredients and artful presentation that showcased the kitchen’s attention to detail. This restaurant is a gem, whether you're arriving by land or water. It’s a rare place where the setting, service, and cuisine all exceed expectations. We look forward to returning—and next time, we’ll be sure to stay a little longer and savor every moment.

Had the best dining experience ever tonight at Kingstide. Our server, Zoe M, was more than accommodating and made the experience a 10 out of 10. I really appreciated her making this dinner special for my boyfriend and I. The food was phenomenal, and I can’t wait to come back and try more. We loved the low tide tower and the brussels sprouts. Southern hospitality is real 😍

Google
Our server was wonderful and asked right up front if there was anyone with food sensitivities or allergies. I am allergic to wheat and she pointed out all the dishes that were gluten-free and the ones that could be modified for me. I had the crab salad and it was delicious. The Lemon Blueberry Crème Brûlée was scrumptious! It was a beautiful evening for outdoor seating. I will definitely visit again!

Google
Beautiful area and building. Great view, great food. Our server was really nice. The timing was a little slow, but it was a full Saturday night so it was expected to a point. We were there about 2 hours as a result. Would definitely return but prob not on such a busy night. Crab cakes were delicious, and if you get a chance to try the blueberry creme brulee DO IT!

Google
Pricey. The food was too salty for me, but my husband loved it. The seafood tower was great! You have a view of the entire kitchen. Watching SOME cook and prep was a little disturbing. Need some hand washing refresher courses. Service was great! It's a casual place. No need to dress up.

Google
Fantastic! Everything was perfect. Our server was a delight, and even let us try a few pink oysters on the house when we couldn’t decide on appetizers. Cocktails were absolutely divine. We ended up getting more oysters, ceviche, and the catch of the day. Eating seafood next to the water has healed my soul. Thank you so much!!!

Yelp
We visited to celebrate our wedding anniversary on a Saturday night and arrived around 5 pm. We had an exceptionally kind waitress and I wish I could remember her name because she was excellent. We started off with the special ceviche (snapper) and ordered our son's chicken fingers from the kids menu. The portion was HUGE for the kids meal and the ceviche had the perfect amount of spice and acidity. For dinner, I ordered the tuna entree and my husband had a 12 Oz strip steak and he ordered a side of Brussel sprouts. We waited for quite awhile and when the entrees arrived, I joked that they had probably overcooked his steak. Unfortunately, we were right: medium rare came out closer to medium/medium well done. My husband didn't want to send it back but I told him for $47 it needed to be recooked. The manager was very nice and brought us complimentary hushpuppies to tide him over while he waited. My tuna tasted amazing but I wish there had been some kind of starch on the plate to accompany the dish. Just my personal preference though. We finished dinner off with an anniversary dessert, on the house, which was a very sweet, final touch. It was expensive, but we knew what we were getting when we booked it for a special occasion dinner. I think we would go again to try it for lunch but we would probably opt for a different spot if we are going to go out for a fancier meal.

Yelp
The service is awesome! Very attentive and friendly! Our waiter was great! We had the fried crab rice which is very yummy. The chowder was not that great, was expecting something different - it wasn't bad - just different. I had the swordfish and really wish I had gotten the NY Strip steak my husband got - it was fantastic! Desserts were great! Our table tried almost all of them! The ambiance is beautiful. We sat on the patio during a rainstorm with the oceanview - so relaxing and enjoyable! Now the only part you need to be prepared for is this is very expensive! Our bill with alcohol (4 drinks) totaled $397.10 before the tip - so make sure you know before you go!

Yelp
I finally got to try The Kingstide, while in Daniel Island for a concert (Styk & Foreigner, rocked by the way)! What a great spot for a nice dinner, we got there early so we could eat before the concert. I was excited about the Happy Hour but apparently, that's only at the upstairs restaurant and at the bar only. We started out with an assortment of apps, which were all SO good. I highly recommend the Tuna Tostada; it was so good we ordered it again for dinner! The apps kept flowing with the calamari, and crispy artichoke, and you got to get the hush puppies! For the main entree, we had some oysters which were tasty, the special lobster sandwich, and I tried the fish special. I must say, I was a little disappointed with the size of the fish and the dish. For $38, I should have ordered another Tuna Tostada and been happy with that. It was a small piece of fish and not worth it in my book. We did try a dessert and that was great, don't skip out on the Kingstide Crunch Bar! Overall, it was a great spot to eat before a concert, the service was great and make sure you stop by next time you're in Daniel Island!

Yelp
We started off on the rooftop patio, which is open at 11 AM. There are some outdoor spots that you can get from the hostess or the bar is open seating. There is indoor and outdoor bar seating. The inside does not open until 5 PM, which is when we left the rooftop and went to our reservation. The first floor is the main dining room, which has two handicap stall bathrooms. The inside is open concept. We sat by the window, which has a beautiful view overseeing the river. We did a Sunset cruise which is ported right in front of Kingstide. We got a dozen oysters, oysters casino, and for a main, seafood of the day as well as seared tuna. The seafood of the day was swordfish and it was juicy and delicious. The seared tuna is something they have on the menu all the time and would definitely recommend getting it rare.

Yelp
What a great experience at Kingstide on a Saturday evening in Daniel Island! We were close to buying a home in this area and now might have to reevaluate soon. Kingstide is located right on the water next to a small marina in the super quaint downtown area of Daniel Island. They have two outdoor patios, an upstairs rooftop and downstairs dining area. We started with a dozen oysters, the octopus and crab fried rice. All of it was amazing! For dinner my wife's friend had the steak kale salad, I had the wood fired crab legs and the wifey had the crab pasta. Everything was outstanding. Service was a bit slow but it allowed us time to enjoy the views, delicious drinks (get the ecto cooler) and converse. We will definitely be back in the near future! Cheers!

Yelp
The seared tuna was perfectly paired with shitake mushrooms, bok choy and a light oyster vinaigrette which resulted in an explosion of flavor. I've heard the espresso martinis are amazing as well! An elegant and classy atmosphere with an excellent wait staff. The portions are just right. I am excited to go back and try another dish. Definitely a hidden gem that I'm glad we found.

Yelp
I'm not a salad girl but MAN OH MAN what a great salad. I got steak on it but didn't even need it because it was so flavorful. It is quite possibly the best salad I've ever had (see pics) The oysters were okay. I've been here before and they've been better, but today they were a little bristly. For sides, you need the carrots (10/10) and the Brussel sprouts (8/10). Sometimes the Brussels are a little undercooked. But any time I've had an issue they've been quick to resolve it. For example, the carrots weren't hot but they brought over some fresh ones!

Yelp
Easily one of my favorite restaurants in CHS. Great food, good service, excellent indoor and outside seating. Pleasantly surprised by the wood fire kale salad with blueberry vinaigrette. Swordfish is a hunky portion. The carrot cake was also out of this world. Good happy hour too!

Yelp
This place is really really good! I'll start by saying the service was really fast and no complaints! The pumpkin agnolotti was so heartwarming and just a feel good meal. It put me in a very happy mood just eating it. The brussel sprouts are good as well but not something I will think about all the time in the future! Atmosphere is great for anyone of any walk of life coming to enjoy a good dinner! Upstairs menu is different than the rest of the restaurant so keep that in mind!

Yelp
We went to here on a tuesday night at 5pm. We were sat immediately they weren't busy at all, we were the only table inside for a while and a few tables of people outside. Inside was very nice, beachy, modern & open with a very pretty view. Our servers name started with a D... dargan? Sorry if it's not, I forgot. But he was so nice and welcoming and told us all about the specials. I ordered the Kingside Cosmo which was so yummy and my friend got the Maritime Mango which she said was good but I thought was SOOO good so we ended up switching drinks. For an app we ordered fried calamari which was really good. For as slow as they looked out food took a while, about 30 minutes. I got the seared sea scallops which were delicious and cooked to perfection. My friend got the 8oz flat iron steak with a side of chimmichuri fingerling potatoes. The steak was overcooked unfortunately but we told our server and he offered to remake it but she said it was fine. The manager also came over to check on us which was really nice. They ended up offering us a desert on the house which was so kind! overall I would probably go back.

Yelp
We only had drinks but will definitely come back! Very nice spacious restuarant. The bottom covered tables in the main restaurantbare dog friendly and the roof top is as well. Beautiful views! Good happy hour menu. We decided for sushi so we only had a drink. The staff was really busy but good it was supposed to be a rainy day but then it was gorgeous outside!

Yelp
Overpriced for mediocre food. This is the second time I've been here and sadly I've left disappointed both times. I will be back, but just for the drinks and atmosphere ( maybe the appetizers) I honestly wish I loved this place, it's so conveniently located, with great atmosphere and drinks. But it's just not work the money for what you get. We started with appetizers, hush puppies and calamari. We also ordered a margarita and ecto cooler. They were all really good (worth the 3 stars) Then our main dishes came out, we ordered the crab fried rice (crunchy rice but other than that tasted ok) the crab agnolotti (it was also ok, nothing special) & the seasonal vegetables were our favorite absolutely delicious, seasoned nice and cooked to perfection. The last one... was almost laughable.. actually we did laugh when it came out that is until the saw the bill.. the crab legs were $60... you get two crab legs, cold for $60? Very mediocre, overpriced and disappointing.

Yelp
One of the only waterfront restaurants in the area, the Kingstide has a wonderful ambiance with a downstairs full dining room and patio plus upstairs balcony and bar. I was drinking the Maritime Mango, a reposado based cocktail that is light and refreshing and the perfect amount of sweet. I did try my partners espresso martini and enjoyed it, the espresso is the top note with a hint of sweetness. To start we had the ceviche, it was fresh and well seasoned. I had the Blackened Mahi Tacos for my main and I cant wait to get them again. The fish is incredibly well seasoned and complimented by the jalapeño crema perfectly. My partner had the DI Burger and it was really the perfect classic burger. Our waitress/ bartender since we sat at the bar upstairs was incredibly friendly and communicated about the drinks/ kitchen well. I highly recommend trying this spot if you're in the area, but is genuinely worth making a trip out to from whatever part of Charleston you live in.

Yelp
Came to Kingstide for a New Year's Eve dinner with my family, and it was a great way to end the year! We were a party of 7, and were led to this back room of the restaurant, which was darker (or more intimate depending on how you want to look at it) than the main room of the restaurant. It was still nice, though, aside from the fact that the acoustics weren't the best. We were seated across from this other party who were really loud, and the noise made it difficult to converse with one another. However, once they left, it became much quieter. I'd recommend Kingstide put some carpeting in here or hang up some things on the wall to absorb some of the noise. The acoustics of the restaurant aside, our experience with the service and food was great. Our server was friendly and was able to answer all our questions about the menu. She also advised us on which appetizers to choose and sold us on a few specials. We ordered the house-made sausage, crab fried, fries, and wood-fired carrots for appetizers. I mainly had the sausage and the rice. The house-made sausage was thick, snappy, and smoky. The pickles and pickled onions that came with it had an acidic sweetness that complemented the smokiness of the sausage. The Dijon mustard that came with had quite the kick: when I tried some, it was so spicy that my nose started tingling! The crab fried rice was warm, stringy, and a little spicy. My main was this monstrous 20oz New York strip that came with a side of smashed fingerling potatoes. I split this with my dad, because I knew there was no way I'd be able to eat a 20oz steak on my own. We got lucky, in that we ordered the second-to-last steak. This steak was phenomenal. It had a nice crispy char on the exterior and a juicy interior. Despite the steak being split in half, it was still too large to finish. The smashed fingerling potatoes were cheesy and had the occasional chewier part of the potato skin. Yum! The best part about this dish was that it wasn't very heavy. If you're looking for a more upscale dining experience with attentive and knowledgeable service, come to Kingstide!

Yelp
What a great find!! My boyfriend and I made a reservation to come here. We were a little early and the first ones there so the downstairs restaurant wasn't ready yet. We were directed to go upstairs to the bar and have a drink while we waited. The upstairs bar was so nice. The bartender was friendly and offered suggestions for drinks. I loved the drink menu and got a cosmopolitan, and he got an old fashioned. The view upstairs over the water is beautiful. Once it was time for the reservation, we went back downstairs and met with the host. We went in the winter time and it was a little cold and rainy the day we went. There is outside seating on a beautiful veranda that overlooks the water upstairs and downstairs which I look forward to trying in the warmer months. We sat inside, and it was a beautiful, dark ambience and a very intimate setting inside. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We wish there was a bigger option for steaks or chicken on the menu, but what was on there was amazing. It was a little pricey, but nothing outrageous. It was definitely worth the ride out to Daniels Island to this beautiful restaurant.

Yelp
First time coming here for dinner rather than upstairs for lunch and was pleasantly surprised! The ambience and atmosphere was very pleasant. We started with the ceviche (they had snapper that night, very good but very lime-ey!) and the white fish dip, both were delicious. I got the seasonal fish, which was mahi, and it was prepared very well - the sauce balanced out the fish nicely. Will be going back!

Yelp
This restaurant has such amazing food and great service. The building is beautiful and has a great ambience. We ordered the ribeye and shrimp agnolotti Both extremely good. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The Kingstide is a beautiful restaurant overlooking the water on Daniel Island. I was excited to try it out before attending a concert next door. We came in town for the concert and wanted to find something in walking distance to the stadium! We lucked out and got seats at the busy bar (which was good since we didn't have a backup plan). Downstairs does not seem to take walk-ins so be sure to have a reservation if you are looking to go down there. The bar upstairs has an abbreviated menu, so there are not as menu options, but they have some good staples still. Overall I loved the restaurant, the food and drinks were good! Sitting at the bar for a meal was not great here. There are many people reaching over you trying to order drinks at the bar, and that makes it hard to get the bartenders attention for us as well. I would definitely go back, but would like to have a reservation and get a chance to have a nice sat down meal.

Yelp
Underestimating Charleston rain I walked into The Kingstide dripping wet. I was cold, hungry, rain-soaked, and a bit cranky. The hostess looked at me and I stated it was simply me looking for dinner. She offered a seat at the chef's counter or a table, and I opted for the chef's counter since it was like a bar without it being a bar. The nautical theme was pleasant with the rain outside making it feel quite cozy in. The restaurant was not enormously busy but I believe the rain had a say in that. It felt spacious and comfortable, not loud, not library quiet, and very pleasant. As I settled sitting across from the oysters and watching the plates drift by my waitress came over and was an absolute delight. I appreciated that she recognized the situation commenting on how drenched I looked with appropriate level of pity. She promptly ensured I had a drink in hand and soon I forgot about the damp. I wasn't sure what I wanted so I ordered the oysters and the tuna tartare. The tuna tartare was great, straight up delicious. The oysters tho were exquisite. Not only were they super deep cups with a variety of flavors from buttery to briny, but there wasn't a single shell piece to be found! They were shucked 100% perfectly! That is rare in my experience. When it came to dessert I saw they had a few things but I am not a huge dessert fan. I made a comment about salted ice cream and learned they had none. That is ok. I ordered the port and next thing I knew I had both a glass of port and an ice cream sandwich! The restaurant gifted me the ice cream sandwiched saying that they wanted me to have the opportunity to try, tho I wonder if it was because they pitied this drenched woman - nevertheless I couldn't say no. That would have been rude! I ate the super delicious ice cream sandwich and it was the best I have ever eaten. The port also was exceptional! I left here as the rain stopped. I was full, warm, and grateful that such restaurants exist.

Yelp
We came here for our anniversary and couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate our special day. It is beautiful inside and out. Cecilia was our server and was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond in taking impeccable care of us. She treated us as if we were regulars even though it was our 1st visit, but it definitely won't be our last. We had raw oysters and clams and the fried calamari for an appetizer and both were spot on the oysters were perfectly small and super fresh. My wife had the swordfish special which was amazing. I had the crab agnolotti it was the best pasta dish I have had in a really long time. Our children were also extremely pleased with their shrimp and grilled cheese and were delighted with their ice cream for dessert. Thanks so much Cecilia and the staff at Kingstide for making our special day even more special. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Technically part of Charleston, Daniel island wasn't developed until the early 90s. Now it's a planned, upscale suburb with residences, retail shops, hotels, independent crafter booths, other eateries, and of course The Kingstide. I wasn't expecting it to be this good. The pretty creekside location, modern decor, and open kitchen helps but it's the food and service that really stood out. The menu is heavy on the seafood with just a few landlubber offerings and I think enough meatless dishes to keep things interesting for vegetarians too. Many things appealed and it was hard to decide. I got the "Seasonal Fish", prepared with melted leek, duck fat confit celery root, fennel nage (the term was new to me; it is a method of poaching) and grapefruit. The seasonal fish that day was swordfish and it was probably the best I've ever had, both the fish itself and the dish as a whole. The leek, fennel, and grapefruit base was subtle and a perfect complement for the fish. As for the fish itself, I now realize that practically every other time I've had swordfish it has been overcooked, sometimes just ever-so-slightly but it makes a big difference. This was done just to perfection, no trace of translucency but stopped before any dryness could set in. The fish and the plate were hot. The only flaws were that the bed of leeks and other vegetables underneath were room temperature, and a separate side vegetable or starch (maybe a risotto) would have been appropriate. Speaking of a side, I had asked my waiter about that so it wasn't a surprise to me. Several, including the hush puppies with sorghum, the seasoned fries with paprika, espelette, and saffron aioli, and the Caesar salad appealed. He could tell I was wavering but in the end, knowing I wanted to save room for the Key Lime Pie dessert, I passed. But, soon after the entree arrived, my waiter returned with "a gift from the kitchen". A side of the Brussels Sprouts which I had also expressed interest in. A very large plate of roasted brussels sprouts, assertively flavored with chili lime glaze, pickled shallot, and crispy lardon (slab bacon). Like the entree, this was probably the best I've had anywhere. Two for two. No charge obviously. It was a gift! It was a very large platter and I took most of it home and it was even better the next day. Cocktails: a large list of classics and specialties. But even the classics had a twist: the Old Fashioned was made with "pork fat-washed Elijah Craig bourbon". Not sure how I feel about that. I ended up choosing the Banana Daiquiri, served straight up. The twist here was it was made from Mezcal instead of rum (though rum is also an option). I had reservations and told my waiter I probably won't like it but it sounds so intriguing I just have to try it. Well I tried it. Interesting but I definitely wouldn't order it again! I told my waiter and he offered to replace it with anything I wanted, free of charge! Another nice gesture, like the unexpected side of sprouts, that contributed to this excellent experience. I did say I was saving room for dessert, right? I'm glad I did. A key lime pie, again one of the best I've tried. A plain key lime pie is pretty boring and needs additions: a topping, a sauce, or both. In this case the topping consisted of generous peaks of piped marshmallow, beautifully browned with a torch. Topping sweet and subtly grainy from the sugar. The filling intensely limey and tart. A substantial graham cracker crust. And in lieu of a sauce, this had some kind of crunchy bits underneath, maybe a nut brittle? Definitely worth getting out of downtown to check out this place. Excellent food and service, easy parking, check out the craft vendors afterwards or maybe go for a walk on the many trails into the natural areas that thankfully were preserved when this island was developed.

Yelp
With a spacious, open kitchen concept, The Kingstide is the exterior of a Georgian revival meeting the interior of coastal living -- with coastal dining to match. It's nestled in the Waterfront Park on Daniel Island, providing a scenic view of the river, even if you opt to eat inside. The enjoyment of the location and the space is equally met by the quality of the food. To drink, I ordered the Sage the Elephant, sweet and smooth with hints of cherry candy paired with leafy notes of sage. For an appetizer, I had the burrata. The cheese was complemented with prosciutto, toasted sourdough bread, and pesto sauce, coming together for a savory, zesty, and balanced taste. For my meal, I ordered the lobster roll special. It was light and delicious, and the fries were nearly an exact replica of Chick-fil-A's -- except that these were better. If you know anything about me, you know I can't turn down key lime pie, so I didn't this time either. Tangy, crumbly, sweet. An enthusiastic check in the box. In short, The Kingstide serves some delicious coastal food in a great atmosphere. Go for dinner as the sun is setting: you'll want to see river getting ready for bed.

Yelp
My first time here and I'm wildly disappointed. I hope that the chef was being substituted because everything was over cooked. My swordfish was dry, my buddy ordered a med rare and got well, even my sons burger was burned. Overpriced and underwhelmed. Amazing location, but honestly not worth it.

Yelp
Been here soooooo many times for events - very fancy, unique food, obviously the view is singular in the Daniel Island area. There is certainly nothing else like this!

Food, drinks, atmosphere and service are 10/10! Perfect date night spot. Easy, free parking.

Yelp
Highly encourage to make a reservation, and it is an excellent date spot in the summer. Try to ask for a table next to the window with a sunset view facing the water. My boyfriend and I shared one entree and 3 appetizers. The portions are a bit small. Raw Oysters: Very fresh, the cocktail sauce was delicious. Crab Fried Rice: If you don't like seafood taste, this is not for you because it tastes heavily seafood. Nothing really hides it. If you love it, then you would LOVE this appetizer. Octopus: This was both of our favorite dish. Great combination with everything, and the octopus was not chewy at all. Seasonal Fish (Sword Fish): This was very good, and the fish was soft. The waiter made sure that the dish was halved on separate plates for us, which was super convenient because we got to have our own plate and not reach over. There is some parking spots in front of the restaurant, but there is a parking lot across the street, and it is only a 3 minute walk over. This restaurant is also near a trail, so it is nice to walk off the food afterwards with a great view over the water. Overall 8.8 out of 10.

Yelp
I love the environment of this place. Sit outside and you get a nice breeze, shade, and a view of trees covering the ocean view. It's fun to people watch. The service is decent. Nothing outrageous. I just got some apps the Burratta and tuna tar tar. The Burratta needs more toast points. Sort of ridiculous to serve it with only once slice of bread cut into 2. Also it could use a higher quality olive oil and a little less. The tuna tasted like I got it from Publix. For raw tuna I would hope of a nice quality and it just tasted a little off. I think the sauce could use some editing too.

Yelp
We dined at The Kingstide last night for my birthday dinner. First, and very important to me, let's discuss the vibe. The Kingstide has it. You enter, it's dimly lit with low music playing, an all around beautiful and clean atmosphere. It's located right on the water - beautiful views no matter where you sit. Service was friendly and as quick as they can; they seem very busy. 4 stars because my dish, the mahi, was severely over cooked and burned; it heavily impacted the taste of the dish. I didn't send it back, but I probably should have. Our server likely would have accommodated! Overall, the food is presented beautifully and has excellent quality. Desserts were also great.

Yelp
Madi was amazing! She's a very talented and knowledgeable server. She was so helpful and fun! Our team loved being in her sector and will definitely look for her next time!

Yelp
Fresh tuna that is cut in house! Not previously frozen! For some reason it's super difficult to find a fresh piece of tuna in Charleston, and places like the Royal Tern will lie about it. We had great, knowledgeable , timely service with wonderful ambiance. One improvement would be to taste the cocktails as they are coming out. The egg white cocktail my wife ordered was too floral, and needed more citrus ILO Violette. To the inexperienced palate it would likely be acceptable, but to ours it tasted like perfume. Still 5/5 and we will be back!

Yelp
Since our first time at Kingstide almost a year ago, we've been back about a dozen times. We bring out of town guests, large groups of friends, or just swing by for a drink and dessert. The service is always exemplary, there is food for even the pickiest people, and it's literally one of the best views in the Charleston area. Reservations are recommended, but they are great about accommodating day-of. If not, head to the upstairs bar with a limited menu. I cannot recommend Kingstide enough!

Yelp
A new favorite spot FOR SURE. We came to celebrate our anniversary and clearly chose the perfect spot. First off, we were seated on the porch with the waterside view and perfectly in the shade! We ordered the hush puppies, oysters, golden beets, ravioli stuffed with peas and mascarpone, octopus, and crab legs! Sooo delicious, unique flavors, and we left very full. I also tried the green martini which was made with black olive juice and w o w. Once we were done with dinner we went upstairs to their rooftop bar which is gorgeous! It's also situated in the perfect location to walk around on the docks on the river afterward. I can't wait to come back to try more stuff on the menu!!

Yelp
Really enjoyed our meal here! We can right at 5pm and found out the upstairs seating is always first-come first-serve, so we were able to enjoy the view and outside breeze. It almost felt too cold at times, but was great being outside. Our food was so delicious! The cauliflower dish was packed with flavor. It had tahini sauce and the bottom and the seasoning on the cauliflower was great. I want to recipe so I can try to make it at home. The oysters were so fresh and clean. Each felt very crisp and refreshing. We got a variety, but only downside was were not informed of their origins. Our waiter also provided us with crackers to enjoy with the meal, but it seemed hard for them to give us a serving of lemons. I think we only got 2 slices the first time we asked. The mole octopus was beautifully presented but the taste was so infused with Mexican flavor, you couldn't really taste the octopus. The texture and cook on it was perfect though. I'd definitely come back and eat here again if I was in the area.

Yelp
Worst experience at a restaurant ever. Truly. We made reservations several weeks in advance before coming. We planned to have dinner on the rooftop of The Kingstide due to the view and supposed atmosphere. Before we headed that way, we were told by some locals that you only go for the view and not the food. I was bummed to hear this because good food is such a huge deal to me. But I thought, "oh well, at least we will have an amazing view..." Apparently not... We got there a few minutes before our reservation to check in. We were seated outside on the first floor without much of a view. I was disappointed considering I made a reservation far in advance with a note to please seat us on the rooftop outside with a view. I was never once reached out to that the rooftop did not accept reservations. Instead, we were seated in an okay spot outside on the first floor...okay...what a bummer. Knowing that there are so many great places to eat and I came here for the view and atmosphere to not get it. Ugh why? Oh well..hopefully the time and money are worth it, right? Truly, the seating situation was upsetting, but we wanted a nice meal and wanted to make the most of it anyways... 25-30 min later...no one paid us any attention. Even though we made eye contact with several workers, waved to get people over, etc. Literally no one came to our table. We decided to wait a few more minutes to see...& nothing. We were super sad and disappointed since we had already decided which drinks, apps, and entrees we wanted, yet no one ever stopped by to even welcome us. BUT we made the most of it and *excitedly* left after 30+ minutes of waiting and walked a minute up the road to have the BEST service and BEST food ever. Omg!!! Superb. I am now thankful that The Kingstide neglected us for 30+ minutes and forced us to go to a beloved local favorite instead. Will write a review regarding that phenomenal experience (note: this phenomenal experience was NOT at The Kingstide). I did tell the hostess on the way out that we were leaving since we had been waiting a half hour with no eye contact or anything...she asked if we wanted to move inside and get another server. Um...no thanks...we will go to a restaurant that has FANTASTIC service next door with insanely good food!!!! We actually plan to go back to this neighboring restaurant tomorrow night as well. It is that good!! I would recommend going elsewhere and not to The Kingstide. In the end, we are beyond thankful that we did not waste any more time at this restaurant and instead spent our money and valued time elsewhere.

Yelp
Beautiful setting. Excellent sides, especially the artichokes! Marina view, outdoor seating.

Yelp
We went for happy hour. Only the bar and roof top is open for happy hour. We found out you MUST be seated at the actual bar to partake in happy hour not just seated in the bar but at the bar. Service was fine and food was good. A little pricey and since the actual bar area is a little small it's a little silly to not allow people to sit at a table in the bar and partake in happy hour. Regardless this place is nice, has great views of the river and is worth a visit. Would have given one more star if it wasn't for the "bar" seating issue.

Yelp
I need to rant and rave about how good the octopus appetizer was. I had this as my entree and it was honestly life changing how tender, not chewy and flavorful it was! Every component was so delicious - salty olives, crispy potatoes, and a gorgeous romesco sauce. I also tried the wood fired kale salad. You could definitely taste the smokiness in the kale, I just wish it was a bit crunchier and less wilted. The ricotta and fennel were lovely though. My brother enjoyed the Caesar salad and I liked the cured yolk addition! Service was 5/5, the views of the water and the city were beautiful! I will be dreaming of the octopus for a looong time.

Yelp
Service is amazing, this place can upscale just about anything. Fish and vegetables are fresh, I love that it's an open kitchen. Whether your outside looking at the beautiful view or inside seeing the the magic being made, you will have a good time here.

Yelp
Went to Kingstide with several friends. We wanted to sit outside but it was a bit too cool so we grabbed a table in the bar. It was Happy Hour but we were informed that it was only available if you were sitting at bar. Obviously that didn't make us happy. Then 2 women came in with 3 dogs and proceded to sit at the bar. The dogs were blocking the aisle and they even put them up on the bar stools. A couple was at a high top trying to enjoy their food but the dogs were creating a commotion next to them even jumping on one of their legs. Is it even allowed to have pets in a place that serves food? Definitely not a pleasant experience.

Yelp
Excellent quality ingredients, carefully prepared, and nice presentation. Appropriate for the price point. Rooftop or downstairs patio has wonderful balmy breezes and view of the boats.

Yelp
Great food .. great atmosphere .. great vibes ... service Amazing ...can't wait to return for happy hour one day .. seafood"tower" is more of a platter but was good .. oysters were amazing ... and someone licked the bowl clean for the crab dip .. chips were stale tho -both for crab dip and ceviche ...the only thing we didn't like was the fish bologna , they can take that off the menu...

Yelp
Really good seafood, large portions, super cute venue and views, great staff, and quick service. Expect to spend $20-50 on dinner here. We sat inside on the top floor for dinner and still had beautiful views of the waterfront. There's a big bar with sports on the TVs and an open kitchen on the other side. It's a really cute place for a date or just dinner with friends. The lobster roll was huge and delicious and the waffle fries were so good. The lobster Cobb is also enormous and tasty. We also tried the salmon rillete which is kinda like a lox dip? And the oysters Rockefeller which were good. Overall, food was stellar in terms of taste and portion size. Our waiter was super nice and we had multiple other staff members check in on us too. The food came out very quickly and we watched it go straight from the kitchen to our table. Everything was very clean inside and they always took away finished plates very promptly. Overall, excellent experience here. Between the atmosphere, food, and service, Kingstide is a tough restaurant to top!

Yelp
Very disappointed with happy hour at Kingstide this evening. Meet some friends and sat at table in the bar area because it was chilly outdoors. Because we were not seated AT the bar we could not have happy hour prices. This is ridiculous. Also a couple of women came in and sat at the bar with their THREE dogs. There was no consideration for the couple sitting behind them having dinner as they picked the dogs up and put them on the bar stools and passed them to other folks who were interested in the dogs. Is it even legal to bring pets into a bar? Again. Ridiculous. For the price point, there should be more consideration for ALL the customers. Will not be back.

Yelp
A few Saturday's ago, my friend and I arrived a few minutes after they open at noon. The place was already half way full! We sat outside on the upper patio even though it looked like it was going to rain. And it did. By the end we had to move over under the awning to pay our bill. The place is new and clean and large and I love the two levels. We both ordered one of their specialty cocktails. Both were refreshing and fun. For food we each ordered a fish slider and shared the pickled shrimp salad. The slider was great. Who doesn't love a mini sammie on a Hawaiian roll. I would of loved more of the sauce (of course I would have!!!!). Where they lost me was the pickled shrimp salad. The shrimp was hard, overcooked and didn't taste of vinegar or pickled at all. The salad had little to no dressing, and was just dry flavorless veggies. I did like the cilantro in it, but that was about it. I would definitely return for the cocktails, atmosphere and just make sure to try other menu items.

Yelp
From The start the customer service is top notch! This restaurant goes above and beyond. We dine a lot around Charleston and this was one of the best most flavorful meals we have had in a long time. I would recommend getting reservations far in advance. I think the pricing is super fair! Expect 30.00 an entree and I recommend the octopus appetizer which sadly went so fast we forgot to take a picture. Anyhow I hope nothing changes at Kingstide because I give them an A+++!

Yelp
It was our first time for us to try this place. The restaurant wasn't open for business but upstairs was open for service. We decided to have lunch, we ordered the fish sliders and fries, it wasn't mentioned on the menu that the fish was Bologna. Once we received our receipt that's when we found out about the Bologna's fish sliders and waffle fries, when received shoe string fries. I don't plan on coming back. I was disappointed.
