We had two work events here this week… the staff, menus, instructions and food were all amazing. Highly recommended for team building activities or just with a group of friends!

Went to the kitchen for a work event. It was amazing!!! The manager Brynna and her team really took care of us and made a fun bonding experience for our whole group. Would return return, and recommend to any large group.

A gorgeous event space ran by some amazingly kind people. Their participatory dining experience is so much fun. The staff are fun, friendly, and so encouraging. Can’t wait to join another one!

October 10, 2024 - A wonderful evening spent with “ travel bus buddies” from Maryland . . . cooking, cocktailing , and eating a delicious meal together! This 3 hour event is a “Participatory Dinner” held in an historic 1920’s building, elegantly designed interior. Owners Ann Boninsegna and Jen Lindsey established The Kitchen in July 2013. Their plan offers groups of people to “ cook together “ in teams as they prepare a meal to enjoy together! Food is the glue that builds bonds . . . As Julia Child says, “ People who love to eat are always the BEST PEOPLE!” Our “ travel bus buddies” arrived promptly at 5 pm , warmly greeted by staff ! As we selected our wine, beer, or non-alcoholic beverage of choice . . . The Kitchen staff introduced themselves, as we enjoyed the Charcuterie board appetizer! Then our group formed teams : Salad Team, Veggie Team Pasta Team, Meatball & Sauce Team, Dessert Team * Fun part - Prep teams doing the chopping, dicing, peeling, mixing, sautéing, boiling, grating, pouring, straining, cooking together! *No clean up , staff handles all that work!😃 Ahhhh. . . Our Italian meal’s ready to serve ! Time to re-fresh your beverage and sit down with your group to enjoy a wonderfully delicious meal prepared together! All the fresh ingredients do produce fantastic results , with a little “ chef” guidance from Kitchen staff 😃👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 After chopping onions, and rolling a baseball sized meatball for everyone of my “ travel bus buddies” . . . I enjoyed cooking & sharing a delicious meal together! Thank you Kitchen Staff & owners ( Anne & Jen) for a wonderful evening at The Kitchen 😃❤️👍🏼

I honestly couldn’t imagine having our reception anywhere else. We knew from the moment we walked in, this was the place! This venue is just so intimate and the food is amazing! My family is still talking about having the best tacos… yes, we served family style tacos and would do it again! Also the bar tenders where so amazing, the main mixologist created custom drinks for us for the day and everyone loved them. Also, working with the event planner was so nice. She was very responsive and helpful. I trusted them 100% and because of that there was no stress, which is always ideal when planning an event! Thank you Kitchen team!

Google
Had our team event here- they did an amazing job showing us how to help cook an amazing meal. If you have a large group, this is a fun activity!!

We hosted a bridal shower in the Studio space and it was perfect. Planning the event from out of state could not have been easier. They were communicative, thorough, and friendly. The food was perfect, the space is absolutely gorgeous and the staff was absolutely lovely!

Google
Liz was the best event coordinator that we could've had! My brother/sister in law got married here. They used the space for their ceremony and reception. It worked great! AMAZING food that was cooked right in front of us the whole time.

Yelp
By far the best corporate team builder I've ever been a part of! It was fun, competitive and delicious. Great drinks! Food was good, but kinda depends on your own talents if participating in the flatbread challenge. Highly recommend this experience for a team builder or friends night out! Great staff

Yelp
The Kitchen hosted a company get together and it was amazing. We had about 35 people who cooked and laughed together for over 3 hours. Instructions were clear, ingredients were fresh and high quality. The end recipes and dishes tasted excellent. The Kitchen staff were wonderful hosts and servers and took care of all the clean up. Wish I would have taken more pictures...but believe me the food and experience are well worth your time.

Yelp
Attending daughter's wedding and reception. Great place! Just perfect for a wedding ceremony, followed by reception. Fantastic service, with great variety of dishes to match all attendees desires. Coming from Cleveland, this place was a pleasant surprise and my daughter loved it!!

Yelp
Fabulous time at the Kitchen last night! There were about 30 people making each dish. It was a great time to learn how to cook new things. And the chefs were amazing and so into it as well! The food took longer than I thought but overall a great time. The food was so flavorful as well!! This would be a great spot for a rehearsal dinner or small party.

Yelp
My company had our holiday party here and it was absolutely amazing. I loved the ambiance of the establishment and the setup for dinner. All the staff we're super amazing and hands on the entire time. They engaged with us at every stage of preparing our meal and we all walked away with great tips. As you can see from my photos, our meal was absolutely amazing and delicious. I also loved the open bar and being offered the opportunity to take an old fashioned cocktail making course. I highly recommend anyone to not only book this venue, but to also check out their other events as well.

Yelp
This is a really pretty space, and the food was amazing. Just so good. I went there for a taco fundraiser for a local trans organization, and was kind of sad I couldn't eat more XD I wish parking was easier? Unless I completely missed some secret spot, but I had to go down a few blocks and lucked into a side street spot. The other thing is that, because the space is so pretty and open, it's LOUD. I'm kind of sensitive to that, so other people may absolutely not have any clue what I'm talking about, but if you go to bars and wish they could turn down the music? This place is kind of similar to that. Still delicious though! I would never let that keep me from coming back. I just wouldn't go with a big group and expect to be able to have loads of conversations.

Yelp
Another five star review for The Kitchen. They are doing Cinco de Mayo celebration meal kits for curbside pickup. A bigger and better version of their usual Taco Tuesday offerings! It comes with all the fixings for a feast for two and you can order (2) margaritas in a pouch to quench your thirst. Online ordering was quick and simple. They have several other kinds of celebratory meal kits available online, and I am so glad to see how resourceful they have been in difficult times for food service. Order from them and you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
I haven't stopped by the kitchen in sometime though have gotten a lot of notice in their new offerings due to covid. I decided last minute in taco Tuesday carryout and it was good as always. Fancy quesadillas was so good as was the steak taco though the filling was a little less than I remember. I would have liked actually sauce for dipping with the quesadillas verse it pre drizzled but it was still wonderful. I think we were missing 1 flour taco shell though we didn't need it so no worries. I also got the dessert fruit with round cake and I think I got a double serving as it was huge. In always hp for taco Tuesday at the kitchen. Glad I made it back finally. Note - they do run out quickly of things so order in advance if you have your heart set on something specific.

Yelp
A great Valentines Day event and so happy The Kitchen opened up for another public event. Great space, great food and a fantastic experience with a lot of really fun couples!

Yelp
They do really fun events. I treated my dog to The Barkery dog biscuit class with Columbus Humane. She loved her treats, and I had a really delightful cosmo and add on cheese plate. There was enough for two small meals (for me) if I added extra apples and veg!

Yelp
I wasn't 100% sure what this experience would be like, but I am 100% sure that I'd recommend it to anyone I know that's interested (or even naive) to food and "kitchen" related things. I recently attended The Kitchen's "Help, I'm hosting thanksgiving" Boot Camp. Now, I'm not a cooking or hosting novice. I live for everything that has to do with food. But, my friend invited me to go with him, and I'm so glad I did. The space is beautiful and great for accommodating a large amount of people. There were three Thanksgiving-themed dining tables set up for us to look at (which would be part of the evenings mini-lessons). We got a class "itinerary" and we got started! There were cocktail pairings throughout the event (which we had recipes for), there was an appetizer course, a "how to breakdown a turkey" course, how to create centerpieces, how to arrange a table, how to "batch prep" cocktails and mock tails... everything was great. One small suggestion is that the mini-appetizers we made could've been labeled by tray so that once they came out of the oven, we knew who's was who's. But, luckily the ones my table made were easily recognizable. Overall, I had such a great time. The people at The Kitchen are so knowledgeable and friendly. This is definitely a place to come and enjoy food and camaraderie.

Yelp
I have taken waaaay too long to finally catch dinner at The Kitchen. I think some subconscious inner voice worked hard to make me assume that this establishment wasn't all that, and more. Perhaps I thought the themed nights were so last year? Why don't they advertise what theyir serving on other nights of the weeks? So cliché? Wrong! Got to The Kitchen about 10 till 6. By 6 pm, there was a steady line formed behind me. This is a popular spot, come every Tuesday. Why? Taco themed night! Every Tuesday you can count on the folks at The Kitchen to curate a fun themed evening of tasty homemade tacos. This evening was benefiting Planned Parenthood. I absolutely flip for communal seating. These long tables are just that -- perfect! An eclectic mix of comfy refreshed chairs and huge tables scream open seating - awesome way to get to know the people around you. The food was decent. The best local food I've ever had? No. Could it just be this time? Sure. Will I pay attention more to the final product, next time, and less on the mental images I'm forming? Yes. My tacos were good. Of course the barbecue pork on the Aloha was the best. I loved the few pineapple chunks. The sweet barbecue sauce was right down my alley. The "Means Family" taco was on the drier side. Couldn't pull out any discerned flavors or tastes. Like it needed either a thicker sauce to accompany, or stuff needed spices/seasoned/marinaded. I got their Laugh side to-go. That was their salmon ceviche dish. Had it the next day. I think I was instead given Celebrate...? Didn't check till I got back home. Here's the thing: There were no tomatoes in my dish; I also couldn't really taste soy-ginger (and I love ginger!)... it could have used more punch. I will definitely return to TK. The themes alone have peaked my interest! 90s music mixtape? Yes. I've also heard great things about their quesadillas, so perhaps a swerve from the normal.

Yelp
Attended a global-themed Taco Tuesday at The Kitchen, partnering with Trangender Children's Legal Defense Fund. It was my first Taco Tuesday at The Kitchen, and I liked a lot of it, but with a few caveats. I wanted a good sample of flavors, so I ordered four tacos: Beef Bolognese, Spiced Chicken, Smoked Paprika Shrimp, Mixed Mushrooms. The tacos were a little hit or miss. I liked the smoked paprika shrimp a lot, the spiced chicken was decent, thought the beef bolognese taco--complete with ragu, fettuccine, and burrata--to be "interesting," and found the "Japanese"mixed mushrooms/corn/edamame/ "fried rice" taco to be a complete disaster. The last taco was far smaller than the others, with just a quarter scoop of very soggy/very-not fried rice inside. While the other three tacos were worth $3/ea, this one was definitely not. Also got the slow-cooked pork short ribs quesadillas, which were delicious. I'm glad that The Kitchen allowed me to swap out the BBQ sauce in the quesadilla for some green onions, which I thought would go better with the pork. That was definitely worth it. The line and wait was very long: I waited 1 hour for my food after arriving at 6:15 and ordering at 6:30. So if you're coming for Taco Tuesday, bring a friend or a book, because it's going to be a while. It's also gets very loud, so be prepared. But the food is ambitious and largely very good, and it's more interesting than the usual mix of Modern American menus in Columbus.

Yelp
The Kitchen is an event space for cooking classes and private parties. But on Tuesday's it is open to the general public for Taco Tuesday. Variety of options displayed on a big chalk board. We ordered the sampler - which is a little bit of everything. There was a lack of shrimp (but could have been due to the sampler) and the chicken was dry. Otherwise the food was good. Big communal tables or individual high tops. Gorgeous German Village space with exposed brick and wood floors. Parking available across the street in Church lot. Looking forward to experience a cooking class in the not to distant future.

Yelp
If I could give "The Kitchen" 6 stars I could! This place is a little bit of everything; Participatory Dining, event space, and restaurant. I have not experienced Participatory dining or the event space but I have eaten at the restaurant during Taco Tuesdays! Every Tuesday, "The Kitchen" offers an array of themed tacos with bold flavors. They usually partner with a community organization and donate some of the revenue to that organization. The Tacos are amazing and they usually have a few that are vegetarian/ vegan-friendly. MY absolute favorite part of "The Kitchen" are the co-owners Anne & Jen who are always there and among friends. They are warm and inviting and really put their hearts and spirits into the place. Ask for them when you come in and tell them I sent you! Enjoy!

Yelp
I'm kinda loving the concept and the physical space of the Kitchen. They are a pseudo-restaurant/event space that offers "participatory dining", basically a cooking class with a self-prepared dinner. They also offer a weekly "Taco Tuesday" event from 5 to 9 pm which seems pretty popular. There's a new theme each week. I happened to attend the Michael Jackson themed Taco Tuesday. Who's bad?!? Picking from their MJ-themed menu was very fun. They had 6 MJ-themed tacos, 6 sides and 3 drinks to choose from. Some amusing examples include: "McCaulay Culkin's Quesadilla with Neverland Ranch Sour Cream" and "Black & White Moonwalk Pie." I ended up getting 3 tacos: PYT (veal piccata over saffron risotto), Beat It (Roasted Beets with arugula, goat cheese & toasted nuts) and Thriller (Shrimp, Andouille sausage, grilled onions & peppers, corn over grits with Tobasco cream sauce). Despite being one of my favorite MJ songs, I couldn't love the PYT taco. Way too much saffron was used, resulting in an earthy and grassy taste that overshadowed the veal. The beet taco was good, but was more of a salad wrapped in a tortilla. My favorite amongst the 3 was the Thriller. The sausage, shrimp and creamy grits made for one delicious bite. Maybe I was just secretly craving grits. Even though the tacos weren't "You rock my world" good. I do appreciate the creativity and concept of the Kitchen. For that alone i'll give them a 4-star rating. I"ll definitely be back again for Taco Tuesday. If I can find a few friends interested in "participatory dining", I may try that too.

Yelp
Over the past year I have been to The Kitchen multiple times; a participatory meal work for work, Taco Tuesday night couple of times and last night an At Home Meal Kit. What inspires me to keep getting food from The Kitchen including last night's meal is the creativity, quality, care and sense of community they infuse into everything they produce. When I pulled up to The Kitchen for the curbside pickup I was greeted by a friendly member of The Kitchen's staff. Quickly he brought me my order, the Italian Dinner kit, and let me know the recipes were already in my inbox. Pre-measured, quality ingredients in individually labeled bags for Tuscan salad, lemon garlic green beans, garlic mushrooms, tomato vodka gluten free pasta and flourless chocolate cake made for an incredible feast. The flavors were vibrant and portion sizes perfect for two. I also love that they offer options for people that may have certain dietary/food restrictions. My boyfriend can't have gluten and I couldn't eat meat since it was a Friday during Lent. I will definitely make these recipes again. Looking forward to trying another one of their meal kits and more tacos. #stayinsupportcolumbus #supportlocal

Yelp
Great place for big groups! We enjoyed prepping and cooking meals for everyone! Don't you need to know how to cook, they will teach you how!

Yelp
Came for a cooking demo event and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The food was great but the bar/bartenders had an amazing specialty drink.

Yelp
We had a very pleasant evening at an Italian cooking class st The Kitchen. I was very much looking forward to seeing the space. I've driven by many times and always wondered what it was like! Although they offer taco Tuesday's it's very rare to be able to attend an event here, from what I could find. My husband and I have attended several cooking classes throughout Columbus and the east coast, we like learning to make meals at home. I was most looking forward to making pasta. My in laws are Italian and I thought this skill may really come in handy one day! But this cooking instruction left me disappointed. We only rolled the pasta through an attachment in a Kitchenaid, and no we don't own one of those at home. It would've been really great if they demonstrated how to make the dough or had the attendees make dough ourselves. The other stations were dessert and a salad. The salad was pretty simple and the dessert was partly completed for us. There was also a rabbit tomato sauce they made for us without instruction. It was just OK. I find rabbit too gamy for my taste. The noodles were great though! Yum-mers. I can't remember the last time I had homemade noodles. Would've loved more instruction there. I was also disappointed we didn't get to take any food home. At $60 per person the price was high in comparison to other cooking classes and some complimentary cocktails or homemade noodles to take home would've been a nice touch. The space was really beautifully designed and I could sit and chat there all day, I felt so at home. I wish it was a bar I could attend regularly. We met some really great young Columbus socialites as well. But if you are looking for a cooking class, I'd recommend Franklin Park Conservatory.

Nate M.

Yelp
The kitchen cooking class was a bad experience! There were only few stations, did not get chance to get much hands on experience, and had to wait 2.5 hours for the food. In addition food was not of good quality and whole experience was disappointing.

Yelp
Man, I really wanted to like this place. Cool interior and creative themed taco nights. I wanted to be all in. I wanted to enjoy the food I ordered, but I got the wrong order. They told me it was the right order, but when I got halfway through my last taco (first two were great by the way) I realized that they'd gotten given me the wrong taco. Unfortunately, this taco had shrimp in it, which I always avoid because of a bad allergic reaction in the past. As a restaurant, you just can't make a mistake like this. What if I had been vegetarian OR had a serious allergic reaction? I felt a little sick to my stomach and got a little clammy and sweaty. (This also could have been a bit more of a mental reaction, to be honest.). Anyway, I walked out of The Kitchen with a bad taste in my mouth, and I'm not sure I'll be returning.

Yelp
Excellent venue: Amber is amazing and Jennifer did a terrific job managing our event . We will definitely be back for another party

Yelp
This place seems like it should be awesome. It has all the makings of a really, really awesome spot. Cocktails are mixes that the pour into a mason jar, if you were inside this place, you'd think that they'd craft something. I want to like it really badly. They do some really cool events. I've also heard from a handful of folks that there is some "less-than-sanitary" happenings they've witnessed in there.

Yelp
Came here last night for a dinner cooking experience. We purchased tickets in advance which were $60. There was also a cash bar. There were about 30 people at this event and we broke down in about groups of 6. The event was from 6-10pm. Each station made something different. All the ingredients we used for the recipes were very fresh. The food turned out very tasty. It was a great experience and something we would try again.

Ida M.

Yelp
We got the ingredients for a vegetarian meal. It was easy to make and delicious. Thank you!

Yelp
Went for the taco Tuesday & it was awesome! The tacos were amazing and the venue is beautiful. The menu is very unique, not your typical tacos. I got the crab cake taco and another taco with beets and goat cheese. Both delicious. They change their menu every season. Excited to come back here again!

Yelp
Attended a wedding here. The space is gorgeous. the ambiance was cozy, inviting and relaxing. The food was delicious. The nook in the windows was a perfect spot for wedding guests to dance. They have enough bathrooms and they are very clean. Staff was attentive.

Yelp
I had such an amazing time at an event I was part of with both the cbusfoodbloggers and Be The Sign. Myself and fellow cbusfoodbloggers were asked to create menu items for a Taco Tuesday event. Since each Taco Tuesday at the Kitchen is a theme you can always expect something different which makes it even that much more fun! On this night we had Loaded Pizza Nachos, Korean Beef Bulgogi bowl (this was my favorite dish of the night), pulled pork quesadilla, tofu bahn mi tacos, a fish and chips taco, a greek lamb gyro, a german sausage taco and a thai peanut chicken salad. Seriously, the guys in the kitchen just killed it with our dishes. Everything was over-the-top fantastic. I could not rave enough. In additional to amazing tacos and sides, we had some great drinks and desserts too. For drinks there was a strawberry rhubarb paloma and a boozy root beer rumchata float (that is as tasty as it sounds). Finishing off the meal was a apple peach pierogi pie. This was slovak style so unlike any pierogi I've ahd before, this was more flaky and crispy and covered in powered sugar. I could have had 5 of those so good thing they sold out before I could order another. Prices were perfectly reasonable ($3 tacos, sides ran $6-8, quesadillias $5-7 and dessert $4). In addition to their Taco Tuesday nights, the kitchen also offers event likes meals that you can participate in, you can also have events like dinners, a shower and even get married. The space is beautiful, the food is amazing so what more is there to love!

Yelp
I attended an event here and it was fantastic. I had a couple of their ciders, which were very good and served in a mason jar (so hip). I assisted with the tomato tart, which was a pretty easy dish. It was good getting to know the others in my group. The smaller stations make it easier to get to know others, especially when it is a large event. All the food was delicious. Overall, a great concept.

Yelp
Bang for your buck: 8/10 Quality: 8/10 Service: 9/10 Ambiance/Location: 9/10 Overall: 9/10 Taco Tuesday is such a fun concept at The Kitchen; we can't wait to go back! It's hard to review something with an ever changing menu because what we loved when we went, won't be the same when you go. However, we feel we can confidently say the menu will be consistent. We love the idea of having several taco, quesadilla, side items, and signature drinks focused around a singular theme.
google avatar

Beth F.

Yelp
I have been here twice and both times had a great experience. I've done the yoga brunch and it was amazing. The yoga portion was fine though a little cold in the large open space. But the food was incredible! I loved every single item offered and could have stayed all day just refilling my plate! The only odd part is that because we did a yoga class the tables are all pushed out of the way and not put back so you have to eat your food sitting on the floor. We just recently went to Taco Tuesday. We really loved the food. I enjoyed the atmosphere and would definitely come back with a big group to enjoy the communal tables. There was no line to order and our food came out quickly. The only downside is having to go to the bar and pay for drinks each time. We would have loved to stay and continue drinking but it just seemed annoying to have to keep going back up so we left. Definitely a missed opportunity for the restaurant to keep us there.

Yelp
Omg these tacos are out of this world. I ordered Amy and mr Gowan. Boooooommmm flavor all over my taste buds. Im so happy I came here today. I wont even say too much. Just get out here and taste these tacos.

Yelp
They have a great and knowledgeable staff, an amazing event space and a world-class bourbon selection. Best meal I've made all year!

Yelp
I really hate giving negative reviews but this place has so much potential. I hope the kitchen staff finds this to be constructive, not destructive. Tonight, I ordered from the Kitchen for the first time and was very disappointed, especially after friends spoke so highly of past experiences. I ordered the taco platter and two salads. Upon opening this platter I was immediately confused and unsatisfied. This platter contained a 1/4 of a crab cake, chicken linguini, a giant pile of rice, two measly piles of corn, sweet potatoes and a tablespoon of ground beef that tasted like it had been sitting since this morning. The entire platter was bland and cold. The crab cake was so thin and tasteless, I do not recommend ordering any crab cake from the Kitchen until they make some serious changes to their recipe. After spending over $50 my expectations were much higher. I do have to say the Herb Salad was excellent and would order that again. I'm willing to try the Kitchen again but no plans to ever order tacos.

Yelp
I've been to The Kitchen on several occasions to pick up a Veggie Box from Urban Farms of Central Ohio, but this was my first time eating there. I went on a (Taco) Tuesday to support the fundraising efforts of the Ohio Guidestone. Finding nearby street parking is always a little tricky, but I lucked out and found a nearby spot right away this time. I think the space itself is just really neat. Open storefront windows give it a lot of natural light and there are cute and quirky accents (like a bookshelf with books arranged by color). Between those unique features and the long wooden tables that encourage you to mingle with other guests as you eat, The Kitchen has a homey and cozy vibe. Order your meal near the bar: the days offerings are written on a chalkboard wall. I tried three potato tacos on corn tortillas and my friend tried three different meaty tacos (chicken, pork, and carnitas). My friend has a serious food allergy to shellfish and the staff were very understanding about ensuring her meal had no contamination. We also ordered their chips and guacamole and a couple of margaritas (my friend got the classic and I ordered their blood orange margarita). We didn't realize we needed to stick around and pick up our drinks at the bar after ordering (oops) because we were given a number for our table and we incorrectly assumed the drinks would be dropped off, so keep this in mind if you're a new visitor to The Kitchen. The margaritas were a bit too tart for our liking but the tacos were delicious. The real standout for me was the guacamole and homemade chips. The chips were a little greasy in the most delicious way possible! I definitely plan to return to The Kitchen to try out some of their different theme nights in the future, especially because they sent a $5 off coupon with my receipt.

Yelp
Let me start by telling you the space that houses The Kitchen is very special to me. My grandfather owned and operated Margulies Fine Furnishings out of that location for many years. I've heard stories of my mom and her 4 siblings posing in the front windows, the safe (which is still there!), all the miscellaneous contents of the basement, and my grandfather's philanthropy in helping immigrants and the underserved get their lives started. So, needless to say, walking into a building that he had left due to increased crime, which was later turned into a video rental store, which is now beautiful, flourishing, safe, and inviting gives me a feeling of excitement and comfort. But enough about me. The Kitchen really is a great place regardless of the space it's in, but I think even without a bias the deep slate-colored paint on the original punched tin ceilings and walls, original gorgeous floors, and exposed brick are certainly notable. Bring in some updated lighting and you've got one sweet restaurant space! They do some interesting things at The Kitchen. Tables are set up community-style and the water is self-serve from a water station. Also, it sometimes operates as a restaurant, where guests order at a counter, retrieve drinks and a number, and wait comfortably at your table while you wait for food to be delivered (much like Northstar if you've been there.) If you feel like checking out the action in the kitchen, it's wide open. At other times, there are cooking classes for groups. I have not been to any of these, but I have heard of company outings and girls' night etc where participants gather around for a lesson cooking a meal. They also offer events such as yoga and cold pressed juices. I have GOT to make it to those one of these days! But what I want to talk about today is this: Taco Tuesdays! Every Tuesday, The Kitchen staff flex their creativity and bust out a clever, delicious, and innovative taco menu set to a theme. Follow them on Facebook for a weekly laugh, even if you're busy on Tuesdays. Reading their chalkboard will make you laugh! This week, it was an 80s mixtape. Each taco on "side A" had a band/song name assigned to their corresponding taco. They're clever too! I'd never think fried tofu and broccoli stir fried would taste good in a taco shell. But yes! I never suspected risotto would work in a tortilla. But yes! And if you never thought fish and cooked carrots belonged in a taco, you'd be wrong. I also appreciate, partially because of the memories my mom has shared of herself in that same store, the approach they have toward families. The place was packed with kids! There's enough of a din that my daughter's louder moments, shall we say, went unnoticed. They had a darling old-fashioned high chair for her. Some kids were hanging out in the waiting area playing trucks on the floor and nobody turned a head. It just felt like, well, spending Tuesday having dinner in the family kitchen. Not just a clever name.

Yelp
I really wanted to like you, since you're so close and all, but I just can't. I went to The Kitchen for the first time on Taco Tuesday and was disappointed. Here's how it went: 1) It's a communal table concept (which can be fun!) but with a terrible use of space. Half the room is empty (no tables), while people are crammed in to a very long table. 2) You order first, get a number, then sit. The concept is fine, but they are totally screwing themselves in drink sales, because if you want a second glass of wine, you have to wait in the one line behind the 10 people trying to figure out which tacos they are going to get. Needless to say, no one at the communal table got a second drink. 3) The tacos weren't great. The tortillas start out as soft, but then they panfry them into a weird not-hard-not-soft shell which result in an awkward greasy, shell. $32 for two people - for 5 tacos, and 2 glasses of wine. Not worth it. I'd rather have some table service and the opportunity to order another glass of wine!

Yelp
I like the Kitchen's Taco Tuesdays. Since last summer, the crowd seems to have settled down a bit - no more fighting for a table! The taco themes are always interesting, and the ingredients taste fresh, with clean, well composed flavors. Relatively cheap, too, considering the size of the tacos! My advice - get the flour tortillas. The corn ones fall apart.

Yelp
I think it helps to think of The Kitchen as more of an event space that consistently hosts pop up eating experiences than as a traditional restaurant. Check the calendar. The Kitchen hosts private events where the group has a communal food preparation experience before sitting down to their meal of fellowship. OR, you can attend a PUBLIC "event" where the food preparation experience is left to the staff. These public events are nontraditional eating experiences, but are super fun if you know what to expect! Taco Tuesdays -- a must do! We live within just a couple of blocks of The Kitchen and I'm not sure we'll ever eat at home on Tuesdays again (plus with Tapas Tuesdays nearby at Sidebar... I'm happy just switching off between the two). Each week there's a new "theme" for the tacos. Last night it was "Rainbow" in celebration of Pride; there was a taco creation for each of the ROYGBIV colors. I had me some RED (roasted beets, goat cheese, walnuts), ORANGE (Moroccan lamb with a carrot salad/slaw), and BLUE (pulled pork with blueberry salsa). Totally impressed! You get to pick corn or flour tortillas. Super delicious, and all tacos were either $3 or $4. Communal tables, fast-casual style where you order at a counter, get a number, and then a runner brings your food. Beer, wine, and some cocktails available -- beers by the small or large pitcher! Local brews! There was another little stand going on in here, a dude selling smoothies that get blended on the back of his bike. It was outfitted with a Vitamix powered by stationary peddling. I don't know how regularly this is a feature -- perhaps The Kitchen rotates highlighting these different small concepts here. I've heard of their brunch + yoga events and can't wait to come try. I'll be looking to host a special group private event in the future. I dig the decor, I dig the concept. I think they're evolving into what the community needs it to be, and that may take some time. I love having this option nearby. There are a couple of things that could be improved, though: - Really loud! The music + acoustics of people chattering around us made conversation really difficult. We weren't inclined to linger. I love the festive atmosphere but there needs to be some kind of sound-absorbtion efforts made. I want to bring my parents here, but I know they would just complain about the sound levels. The music when we went was a lot of Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears (which I personally LOVE!) but didn't match the vibe. - Paper/plastic tableware. I think the taco bowls were recycled sturdy paper, lined with foil, which I guess I don't mind. But, the forks were plastic, napkins were paper (though I will admit they were high-end and sturdy as paper napkins go). So easy to have metal forks and maybe some tea-towel cloth napkins? Not sure if they do this differently for their other events or if it's just Taco Tuesdays.

Yelp
A few months back, I was lucky enough to have a friend offer me an invite to one of the Sunday Yoga/Brunch sessions at the Kitchen, in collaboration with Native Cold Pressed. It was such a wonderful experience; just imagine: 50 lovely humans scrunched in with just a couple of inches between their yoga mats, five ladies coming around to help modify yoga poses, all while the most amazing, mouthwatering smells come from the back of the room while they whip up delicious brunch options. I loved every second of it. And the food was so perfect and high-quality, I couldn't wait to get back there! It took me a while, but I was finally able to get to a Tuesday night Taco shindig on election night with a couple girlfriends. Everyone is so friendly and outgoing, and makes you feel like a part of the family. I loved it! They were supporting Women Have Options Ohio on this particular evening, so I picked up a pint glass filled with Seventh Son brew for $10, and a couple tacos. The tacos were ok, but the sides were where it was at this night. Some amazing butternut squash, sweet potatoes with candied walnuts, and overall crave-worthy flavors. I like what they're doing here, and hope to be able to check out some more events!

Yelp
Too many cooks in the kitchen. I was so unbelievably excited for the Northern Italian participatory dining experience and had high expectations as the class is quite a splurge at $75 a person. Unfortunately, I believe they overbooked the event by probably half. There were around 40 people in attendance, which meant that there were at least ten of us who were left standing around most of the 2.5 hours that the cooking was taking place because there wasn't room for everyone to have a turn cooking at each station-it was kind of first come first serve, and once a station was full at the start, it remained full (We LOVE to cook and we only got to peel oranges for a salad). We had a lot of fun drinking wine and chatting at the dinner table once dinner started! Also the staff was wonderful-so friendly and helpful! However, we were very disappointed that we weren't actually able to cook, which is why we chose the experience in the first place.

Yelp
Love this place . Awesome inside & great food. Great for parties & events . Love the hands n approach to cooking your meal ! Fun ! Parking can be a challenge , so arrive about 20 min early to get a spot . Can't wait to come back . I hope they might eventually open other locations in Dublin , Gahanna , Worthington , etc

Yelp
I saw The Kitchen fully funded on kickstarter.com for $45,000 (they only asked for $40,000) with 309 backers. This in itself is a testament to how attractive their participatory dining concept is to the general public. I love kickstarter and the concept sounded attractive to me as well, so I arranged a friend and I to dine there for Taco Tuesday. While I really want to root for this place, it fell short in execution: #Parking was a nightmare: this isn't the Short North where you can get away with not providing parking for your consumers-- parking garages and parking meters abound in the Short North whereas this isn't the case in German Village. In fact, parking in GV typically requires a city permit. So saying, I spent a bit of time circling around the block just searching for parking. I finally gave up and parked at the church across the street, which had signs everywhere warning you not to park there at the risk of being towed. #The place was very large, so despite the people and furniture within its walls, it still appeared barren. I'm sure there were decorations, but I honestly can't recall. I believe that their lack of decor causes it to lack ambiance in turn. #The queue to order food was actually quite long so it was perplexing to see only one cashier taking orders. The person next to the cashier who was in charge of beer/wine had no line however. I suggest hiring another cashier or having the person in charge of beer/wine help take orders as well. #Processing for each order was inefficient. Here is the process I experienced: 1. the cashier entered my orders on the iPad 2. the cashier then manually wrote my order from the iPad onto a piece of paper 3. the cashier gave me the piece of paper to hand over to their kitchen 4. I walked across to their kitchen to turn in the paper to one of the kitchen staff 5. the kitchen staff gave me a number (I don't get this process. They have systems for this. Look at any fast food joint-- their cashiers punch in orders which are then sent directly to the kitchen and also prints out a numbered receipt for the patron. This type of automation would completely eliminate steps 2-5 and would also regulate the flow at the cash register.) #Food was not terrible but nothing exceptional; for all its shortcomings it really needed to excel in this particular area Here are the pros: #Food was priced very well; my friend and I even purchased a bottle of wine for $24 to drink while dining. #Staff was pleasant #Concept is neat, so it has some promise

Yelp
I finally made it to the Kitchen last night for their Wednesday wine tasting and I already can't wait to go back to taco Tuesday!! The space is gorgeous. The eating area is huge and boasts large family style dining tables. The kitchen is open and you can see the delicious creations being prepared right before your eyes. I definitely had the best potato pancake of my life and their flatbreads and jalapeno poppers were also fantastic! They also have really nice bathrooms - I loved that their sinks look like water spouts! The wine tasting was a great event and I am looking forward to returning again soon!

Yelp
I SO wanted to love The Kitchen. The physical space is absolutely charming, with communal tables and fresh flowers in mason-jar vases. Overall rating: 2.5 stars Tacos: 1 star (Sad face!) Cocktails: 4 stars Ambience: 4 stars We came at 5pm for Taco Tuesday (with the theme Columbus Icons - fun!). I was SO excited to try the tacos, but they were a HUGE disappointment. I ordered 3 tacos (about $4 each), and they were ALL average to below-average. One had chicken Parmesan in it, and the chicken had an odd odor. I had to add Sriracha sauce to make it edible (!!) Another taco had some insipid-tasting ground lamb (I'm a big fan of lamb usually) with potatoes that were oily, yet not fully cooked through. The third taco passed muster (creole shrimp, okra, eggplant) but it was by no means great. Boo. The themed cocktail selection for the day was small but interesting. I got the 'Bourbon Meyer' (very clever names!) which was perfect. Somewhat pricey at $8 but worth it. Oh, and they seem to have resolved the issues with billing/ ordering and long lines, etc. Things were moving along pretty quickly. I can see myself coming back for some cocktails, but someone would have to try very hard to convince me to get the tacos here again.
