Sterlin Harjo’s Oklahoma Dining Guide | Eater

"The owners moved here from Seattle to start a farm and opened The Living Kitchen to showcase everything they grow; they use all locally sourced ingredients, serve things like a wildflower salad picked on the land, and it feels like a truly amazing, farm-driven dining experience." - Monica Burton

Blank Space Cafe - Review - Green Lake - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Blank Space is a little dessert shop that specializes in bubble waffles. In case you're not familiar, a bubble waffle swaps out your usual square windows for round, hollow poofs. We're big fans of those, as well as their ice cream, boba, and French macarons. photo credit: Erin Lodi" - Aimee Rizzo

Chef Osmar is so amazing and talented. I love the atmosphere the restaurant was giving speakeasy vibes. I really like this unique and intimate vibe that this restaurant give. I also love the Q&A session that the chef does at the end of the meal. The food was delicious would come back again and to try another chef and taste their menu . It was always my Birthday and they made it special and everyone came out to sing to me. Definitely will recommend to anyone wanting a unique and intimate dining

A successful viral marketing strategy on social media, but a disappointing execution when it comes to the food—especially at an average price of over $100 per person with wine. Went in with high expectations. The first surprise came when the host told us they only had one or two red wine options. The second was the plate of salad that looked like something from a grocery store. The third was the chips, which tasted like they came straight from a supermarket bag. And the final surprise? A new group of guests came in before we even finished. And the best part? They were asked to step back out into the freezing cold pitch-black night 🤣 Delivering a true fine dining experience—based on the food alone—requires a lot: sourcing the best ingredients, days of preparation, and a chef who’s intimately familiar with the kitchenware and the flow of the kitchen. I honestly don’t see how a pop-up model can meet any of those standards, yet still justify a $100+ price tag. And speaking of elements beyond the food—service, decor, kitchenware, wine pairing—each plays a critical role in a fine dining experience. Aside from the surprise blackout secret door, the interior was awful: lacking detail, lacking cleanliness, just overall unimpressive. The dinnerware felt cheap, and the wine selection was minimal.

Fool me twice. It’s my own fault for expecting them to incorporate face to face, politely delivered feedback the first time, so I’m going public. As vegetarian diners, it can be difficult to find interesting experiences for special occasions. Turns out The Kitchen chefs will adapt the offerings for any diet. But here’s the rub… When you make the non-refundable reservation on tock, it will tell you there’s a way to specify diet when checking out. So you proceed through the process and keep clicking next until you’ve charged your credit card and been confirmed, but there was nowhere to say you’re vegetarian. So you go to call the restaurant, and it turns out there’s no voicemail. And then you go to email them and have to dig deep into their online presence to find it. Then they don’t respond for three days, and when they do, they tell you you have not actually had the reservation experience you just had because “when you made the reservation there was a form to specify diet needs”. Exact same experience, both times, right down to being told about the form. So my fault for doing this twice, but their fault for gaslighting someone they just gouged for over $300 (for two). The food was decent, more novel than good (I suspect they aren’t really interested in vegetarian cuisine as the dishes are modified rather than constructed for it). While I appreciate a minimalist space, it does feel like being on a reality tv set. But the main complaint is the attitude. One time they offered a plant-based menu. I assumed this meant vegan. Well no. We, and several other diners that night, were condescendingly informed that “plant-based” means something different in the culinary world. I accept that. But maybe it’s worth rewriting your menu description to let the veggies and vegans who aren’t versed in industry jargon know you’re going to serve them meat and dairy. The concept is interesting. The attitude toward feedback is telling. And you will waste energy trying to communicate basic information. As I explained in my last email to them, “it should not be this hard to not eat meat”. Nor should I be made to feel stupid or like I’m a liar for giving FEEDBACK THEY SOLICITED.

Just do it. If you snag a reservation, don’t hesitate, just go. Went here for a birthday dinner and was quite happy with the service, food, and drinks. Chef Nisa embodied her love for food in each dish and it was well received by all attended. The owner played host and he kept the vibe jovial, welcoming and laid back, but still left enough moments for it to be intimate with your company. 10/10 Will revisit!

Google
such a cool place and delicious meal! we loved the Jamaican cuisine prepared by Chef Regina. Ed was great in coordinating us using our gift cards to have a relaxed, cozy, wonderful meal.

Google
This was such a unique catered experience. Every night there is a different chef with a different themed menu serving you a 4-5 course meal in an intimate 10 seat setting. The chef explains each dish before eating. Post meal there is a fun QA session with the chef to get to know them and their background. Perfect for a date night, private party, or if you just want a different experience. The food was we had from Chef Micah during his “Curative Cooking” night was delicious and presented so beautifully. He has worked in the best restaurants in the world and it showed. Each dish had an element that was healthy or curative in a way. Truly experiential dining at its best.

Google
A wonderful experience with fantastic food and wine and a great atmosphere! Chef Ann is the best, I’ve never had anything like her fish curry before but I want to have it again ASAP. Ed was wonderful to chat with as well, you can really tell this is a passion project of his. Also very accommodating of dietary restrictions!

Google
Phenomenal experience with the guest chef, owner, and the absolute darling bartending. It would be easy to comfortably become a regular at The Kitchen thanks to their hospitality and rotating cuisine. An absolute must try!

Yelp
Felt disappointed by the food and the experience. There was a dripping AC unit behind us. Cutlery wasn't replaced between meals. We really wanted to love this place but just couldn't. We absolutely love the concept and would want this place to thrive. However, for a date night, I think it could have been better executed. There were lots of cool reviews and great photos, however when we walked in, we felt disappointed.

Yelp
Went for Chef Ann's Viet cuisine. We paid $78 per person. I wish I spent $160 on literally anything else. We don't do many date nights so when we do, I do a lot of research. The reviews looked decent, the concept is fun, and they were mentioned on several "top seattle date nights" instagram reels. Food was room temperature, not good, clearly looked and tasted like it wasn't freshly made but prepared hours ago. The A/C unit above the entrance was dripping water so they had a dirty rag on the floor but you could see and hear the dirty water dripping everywhere. The bathrooms were gross. They charge upscale restaurant prices and yet they'll take your used silverware and put it back on your napkin for the next course. Their "banh mi" was a literal slice of baguette that was barely toasted. We paid $78 per person. I wish I spent $160 on literally anything else.

Yelp
The Kitchen is a great concept of introducing and giving up-and-coming chefs an opportunity to shine in Seattle. Unfortunately, the management and the execution is poor and unprofessional, which gives off a poor and "scammy" vibe. My wife and I made reservations in advance for a special occasion, which was a pretty penny. Nonetheless, given some of the cool reviews on social media paired with the special event, we pulled the trigger and decided to spend our night at the Kitchen. The night went pretty poorly, which made us both frown with disappointment. Despite the chef's genuine attempt to woo us with his food, the management of the night threw our evening off. A red flag appeared when the manager offered wine to pair with our food, stating that they had a professional provide the wine pairing. I was interested and asked for a red. The manager poured the red into a wine glass behind the counter and served it to me. My wife and I were interested about the wine brand, and the manager showed us the wine bottle, clueless about its origins and only stating it was made in California. The wine, kid you not, was Barefoot wine. I used to work at CVS, and Barefoot wine was commonly stocked in store. A large bottle could be bought for about $10. And the manager was serving a glass for way more than that - $14 for a glass of Barefoot wine. We're no wine sommeliers, but we could taste the poor quality of that wine. Red flag #1. After downing the wine, the manager came back to me and insisted I try their mixed blend wine. He came with the bottle (thankfully not Barefoot) and poured it into the same glass that I was drinking from. No new glass, no verbal exchange. I took it as a poorly executed, but friendly gesture for the night - lo and behold, my final bill was charged for 2 glasses of wine that night. Red flag #2. The special event was marred by this experience, and we were still hungry at the end of the night. We had the opportunity to talk with the chef, and it sounded like he was limited with what he had in the back - an electric stove. And with one person serving a group of us, it proved difficult to manage a large serving and quality food in a timely manner. But at the end of the day, it was the cluelessness and lackadaisical effort with the wine. You can go to your local convenience store and get a giant bottle of Barefoot for less than what the Kitchen charges. And with a hefty deposit to pay, you'd think they would offer better options. I hate to say it, but this felt a bit scammy to me. I preach this over and over again, but I need to hammer it home in my own brain that social media is often overhyped and untrustworthy, with the Kitchen being a prime example of it.

Yelp
My wife and I checked out The Kitchen for her birthday. We booked a night where Chef Marcus was cooking Burmese fusion. Unfortunately, the original booking was the night the bomb cyclone hit Seattle and they had to cancel. We rescheduled for a few weeks later when the same chef & menu were back on. They gave us each a complimentary glass of wine due to the complications. Overall we are giving 4 stars. The Burmese fusion was tasty and the service was good, but for the price it did not quite meet what we had been expecting. We recommend going to check it out, as they have a consistent rotation of chefs and the food was very good. If you want to check out a new cuisine, this could be a fun way to do it.

Yelp
Chef Osmar was awesome. Delicious food. Would come back again and see what the other chef has to offer. I love this concept of dining . Very unique and intimate and one on one with the chef . The vibe gave it a speakeasy restaurant vibe . I also celebrated my birthday & they made it special as everyone came out to sing

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed the omakase by Chef Han. There was an impressive variety in the fresh seafood that was offered in the many courses. My favourite aspect is the interactions between the chef and the guests. Highly recommend for date night or if you're looking for a contemporary dining experience. Will definitely be back to try out the other chefs!

Yelp
Very interesting concept restaurant, showcasing a different chef and curated menu each evening in a warm and intimate chef's table-like setting. Visiting chef's range in experience from those with Michelin stars to private chefs to homemakers. In all cases they follow a thorough vetting process before the owner turns over the kitchen to them. On our evening we were fortunate to enjoy a fabulous meal from Chef Micah, whose focus on "curative cuisine" resulted in a meal that offered more than simply "wow" factor, but took a proactive approach towards health. Because the owner takes care of the operational back-end, the chef of the evening can focus on the creative process. A short talk followed our serving and it was fascinating to hear a bit about chef Micah's background and aspirations. Definitely a special evening!

Yelp
My partner took me here to celebrate my birthday. It was an experience, first off, we got the whole restaurant to ourselves, the menu is rotating so it's different daily, and we got the Italian that day. It is ominous ambiance, with dark lighting in a small room. It started out really good, with the Beef crisp being our favorite, with a hint of truffle we can eat it endlessly. Then the rest of the food wasn't as big as a hit for us, the fish was very dry, and the pork belly was extremely salty I couldn't finish it. The plating itself was beautiful though, and we still enjoyed the experience. The food itself was 3 stars maximum. But this place has a lot of room for growth and potential, where buying an experience for a set course (max 10 people per reservation), is a great idea. I would have liked it if it tasted better. I would give it 4 stars becuase the service was so friendly. For the price though, about $350-400 for two people, is a lot for food we didn't enjoy. We hope this place gets better in the future, maybe I'll come back again when it does make those improvements.

Yelp
Very interesting set up new chefs each time I've come. What got me to write a review was this dish that had smoked brisket and it blew my mind. That Brisket that chef had was what BBQ is supposed to be to taste like. I don't remember the Chefs name but holy cow you have to come experience this.

Yelp
Cancelled on us last minute. Understand situations happen, but having a very clear no refund policy and then cancelling to no recourse seems a little hypocritical. Disappointing customer service experience and would not recommend based on that alone.
