First off...have to give a shout-out to our server, Priscila, who was personable, friendly, and most important---efficient! She really helped make our meal great.
There were four of us so I'm going to do this a bit different and list each dish we had, along with comments...
Mushroom soup: creamy good mushroom flavor blended base with chunks of shrooms. Some of the BEST creamy mushroom soup I've had!!! Served with saltines...might suggest a sourdough roll for dunk
Mac and cheese: It was creamy and cheesy, but bland. With the addition of some extra salt and pepper it was better but would consider some additional seasoning to boost the flavor.
Spinach with lemon and garlic: This stuff is the bomb, if you like spinach. Made with fresh spinach (yes you can tell) with the addition of lemon and garlic, both prevalent in the dish!
Fried chicken: Their claim to fame, which we agree with! It was juicy and tender on the inside and the outside was good and crispy, seasoned well.
Walleye combo fry: This was a disappointment, not taste wise because the shrimp was excellent and so was the fish...served with one piece of fish (smaller size) and six shrimp for the price of $18. We all felt that was the big factor in bringing down rating to four stars. Again, taste wise it was good (and thank you for accommodating the request to switch out the Cole slaw for wedge fries (which could have been a bit more crispy).
Nashville hot sandwich: Great sandwich, lots of good spice and the crispy crust on the chicken was so flavorful and crunchy. You need to like spice for this one!
Lastly, 12oz Prime rib: Wonderfully cooked-I asked for it rare and then thrown on the grill to bring it up to medium. The crust was salty and so good and the piece of meat itself was thick, with a minimum amount of fat cap. Cannot rave enough about this (available only on Saturday and Sunday only)! Came with horseradish, and because I'm a sucker for it...I asked for extra creamy and raw to create my own level of hotness. The loaded mashed potatoes were just as good.
We sat inside because it was too cold to be outside but next visit (when warmer) will be on the patio next to the lake! I always give a shout out to the kitchen when the meal is worthy (they never hear from the customer!) so made sure to give them a huge thank you! That of course, caught the GM, Brevan's, attention and he thanked me for that...also let him know about Priscila's great work as well. Our overall rating is 4.5 stars!!!
