The LaLiT Great Eastern Kolkata

I had a spacious room, and the staff were generous with the drinking water - thank you for that! However, the furniture we’re looking tired, could use some updating, and the bath towels felt a bit damp (I ended up using the hair dryer to warm them up). The reading light above the bed was blinking even after the master switch was turned off, which was a bit odd. When I mentioned it to housekeeping, they seemed nonchalant about it. I also had requested firm pillows, but none of the four provided were firm. On the bright side, a few staff members were kind and polite, although conversations always seemed to steer towards asking for a review. Pancakes and French toast were delightful at breakfast. Can’t say the same for coffee. Overall, it felt more like a 3.5-star experience rather than a 5-star one."

This is a review for the restaurant Alfresco/Lounge. We came into Kolkata late and were hoping for a great meal - the hotel restaurant had a buffet on. I’m not into buffets but it looked great. The food was fantastic but we enjoyed the hospitality actually - from Australian eyes where I’ve never interacted with a deaf/mute waiter it was such a pleasure to be served by Amjad (pictured) who along with his other team members helped us enjoy our first dinner in Kolkata.

As a solo traveler I am always so happy to find staff who go out of their way to make my restaurant visit nourishing by both excellent food service and a friendly, kind spirit. Moumita and Adjab were two such staff. The restaurant food is excellent but it was the attitude of staff that made my experience so great. Among other things they taught me to say “thank you” in Bengali and signing. So ধন্যবাদ and 👍

Supposedly one of the oldest hotels or probably is, in Kolkata as well as India. It’s not only iconic but well maintained as well. The rooms are spacious & comes with great views. The staff is great. The breakfast they serve is sumptuous & fresh. Have stayed there couple of times and highly recommended.

Extremely disappointing stay experience. It’s 1 AM and there’s a loud party going on inside the hotel premises — the noise is unbearable and it’s impossible to sleep. For a five-star property like The Lalit Kolkata, this level of disturbance is unacceptable. Guests expect peace and rest, not blaring music at midnight. I called for assistance but there seems to be no proper noise control or accountability. Definitely not the standard one would expect from a reputed hotel. Please don't stay here.

The venue hosts a lot of weddings and events which makes staying here a terrible experience. They play loud music and this being heritage building, sound and vibration travels to all the rooms. We couldn’t sleep as loud music played till late in the night. The reception is a tiny area and was crowded all the time because of event. There was no place to sit in the reception area. The Spa was good but whole experience was spoiled because of loud music playing right below the spa coming into the room. The reception staff don’t accommodate even simple requests, restaurants staff are good , however the food doesn’t taste good and is overpriced..While the place has been renovated, rooms are not well maintained, can feel dust bunnies and flies everywhere and dead bird in the property. The Not staying here again and recommend to skip for better properties in Kolkata.

It was amazing stay at the Lalit Kolkata. Great staff and great ambience. Breakfast speard was amazing .Sainur and Srijita from reception was amazingly helpful. They have help me out with my late check out. Just a suggestion kindly keep a map for nearby places. It would be helpful for outsider.as we are from Bangladesh. And visiting Kolkata for the first time.

I have stayed for 8 night for film festival . It’s near to the hotel. All the staffs are so god and professional . Special mention to Ms Sainur from reception. Breakfast service and housekeeping service was prompt And amazing. Lovely experience overall. ❤️
