The Hit List: New Mexico City Restaurants To Try Right Now - Mexico City - The Infatuation

"The Lamb, from the team behind Marmota, is adding tavern energy to the Mexico City restaurant scene. They're serving elevated British comfort food with zero pretension and plenty of Guinness. This place is a fun, Roma-stylish, and not-so-fussy spot for a perfectly crisp scotch egg with housemade ketchup, or a rich, flaky rabbit pie that’s not overly heavy. While classics like the fish and chips (ideally paired with a pint) are the move, the menu also surprises—the grilled langoustines in lovage butter and a chayote, endive, fennel, and cheddar salad bring freshness to the mix." - guillaume guevara

Dining here was one of the cosiest experiences I’ve had this year. Not only is the place very picturesque but the staff is also very friendly and attentive. Food will speak for itself. I tried the beetroot salad with pistachio sauce (one for the books), the scotch egg, the steak and ale pie and the banger and mash. Every dish was properly executed. For desert we went for the bread pudding and what a pleasant experience that was. In my opinion this is one of the few restaurants in Mexico City where you can find authentic British cuisine of great quality. I can’t wait to be back.

This is the best sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream you will eat in your life. Look, you and I both know that England is not known for its culinary capabilities, but every single of the ones it has is at its best here. The scotch egg is marvelous, the pastry on the chicken pie is impeccable, the chips (and vinegar) with crispy fried fish as good as they should be. If you have to choose between the toffee and the Stilton, get both, you will not be sorry. Charming waitstaff, present but not bothersome, and just a delight of a dining experience.

Food-wise, this place is a solid 10 in my books. I enjoyed the local lager beer, the oysters, the other entrée (wagyu tartar), the lamb rack and the dessert (which I forgot the name, but believe me, it was marvelous). Definitely will come back. Best of all? It is not expensive at all!

Nice place, lovely atmosphere, delicious food. Whether you order the Vinagre & salt chips, the Scottish egg or any of the pies, each bite is full of flavor. Don’t forget to order the toffee & salt bread for dessert.

The Lamb: Simple, Tasty, and Laid-Back Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Lamb is a small, cozy spot serving British-inspired comfort food without overcomplicating things. The vibe is relaxed, the service is friendly, and the food hits the spot. I tried the salt & vinegar crisps, fish and chips, and the mushroom pie. The pie was the highlight—super flavorful and something I’d go back for. I also had the cider, which was nice, but the pour felt a bit small for the price. Heads-up: it can get pretty warm inside, so I’d recommend going in the afternoon, on a cool day, or later in the evening. If you’re looking for a chill place to grab a tasty meal without the fuss, The Lamb is definitely worth checking out.

British restaurant featuring a cozy decor and balanced flavors. There were two bar stools and it was a cute setup for dates. We enjoyed all the dishes we’ve tried. - Oysters (my only complaint is the portion is small… an order of 2) - Mackerel pâté (savory, buttery and flavorful) - Chayote salad (refreshing greens) - Trout (nicely crisped skin; the capers tied the dish together) There were not many gluten-free options, but we were pretty full after the meal (only missing dessert).

Do any of you remember when the Winston Churchill's was open? Yeah, "the Lamb" made me forget any remnants of that place. That place only wishes it had been as good as this. The Lamb is a refreshing reminder of what English food can be. The food is well done, the scotched egg is one of the better scotched eggs I've had, including the ones in England. The flavors are proper English fair with plenty of peas and gravies. The rabbit pie is surprisingly light but filling at the same time. To keep this short, I hope this place finds success because it's easily the best English restaurant in Mexico. Don't change! To be fair and talk about the negatives, I feel like charging for the bread and butter seems petty; especially since they only give you three slices of cold (pretty good) sourdough. And their home beer is not very good, it just tastes like straight alcohol.

Best fish and chips I’ve had in Mexico City. The sticky toffee pudding was also one of the best, if not best, I’ve ever had. Chips were magnificent. My only complaint was that the sauces didn’t taste like what you’d find in a pub. I would have preferred more traditional sauces. But other than that it was just wonderful. Staff were great, too.
