Cozy Swiss restaurant with exposed-wood beams featuring traditional dishes, wines & cocktails.
"It’s kind of hard to find great fondue in NYC, but The Lavaux is good enough to make up for that. This traditional Swiss restaurant has an array of cozy things, like a window table that’s literally inside of an enclosed ski lift car, a weathered wooden table with a built-in bread slicer, and enough copper bowls to make Julia Child jealous. You’ll want to get fondue here, obviously, and you should enhance it with a cheese and charcuterie board. There’s also an impressive selection of Swiss wines." - team infatuation
"Really great fondue isn’t easy to find in NYC, but The Lavaux is good enough to make up for that fact. This traditional Swiss restaurant in the West Village has an array of cozy things, like a window table that’s inside of an enclosed ski lift car, a weathered wooden table with a built-in bread slicer, and enough copper bowls to make Julia Child jealous. You’ll want to get fondue here, obviously, but there are also some salads, cheese and charcuterie boards, and things like beef tartare. There’s also an impressive selection of Swiss wines." - bryan kim, neha talreja, will hartman, sonal shah
"When it comes to NYC’s fondue scene, there’s The Lavaux, and then there’s everywhere else. The restaurant evokes a Swiss chalet, right down to the vintage ski gondola that houses a table for two in the front window. There are six different cheese fondue options starting at $32 per person (we like the traditional combo of gruyère and vacherin), and it comes in a copper pot with cubes of fresh bread, potatoes, and pickles. Round out your order with a charcuterie board and a salad, some excellent Swiss wine, and a pot of chocolate fondue for dessert. There’s also raclette, if that’s more your speed." - Willa Moore, Neha Talreja, Carina Finn Koeppicus
"A fondue date is cheesy in more than one sense, and sometimes that’s exactly what a married couple needs. Leave your cynicism at the door and try to book the extremely cute window table inside of a gondola, then eat all the bread, cheese, and Swiss wine you can handle. Even if this sounds like a silly idea at first, we promise you’ll lose your inhibitions after they refill your bread basket a few times. " - carina finn koeppicus, hannah albertine, neha talreja
