On the Grid : The Lighthouse

"Having recently been closed for a refurbishment, The Lighthouse explains that they have ‘tinkered with the furniture, stretched parts that seemed impossible to stretch and added comfort with reckless abandon', and they have done a great job! Having been locals at this pub for 8 years we can strongly recommend the atmosphere, great food from their evolving menu and their wide selection of beers. Whether you are looking for a working lunch, evening drinks or dinner, or a classic Sunday roast you will enjoy your time here. In the summer you can relax in the garden and in the winter you can cosy up to the fire. Whatever the season or time of day you can really lose track of time here. Now the sun has made an appearance we cannot wait to get out into the newly designed garden. The Lighthouse staff are friendly and helpful. After a walk in Battersea Park you can bring your four-legged friends along to join you too. Opening hours Monday to Thursday 12-11pm Friday - Saturday 12pm-12am Sunday 12-10:30pm Kitchen times Monday to Thursday 12-3pm/6-10pm Friday & Saturday 12-10pm Sunday 12-9pm 020 7223 7721 info@thelighthousebattersea.com" - Holmes Wood

The Lighthouse Review - Battersea - London - The Infatuation

"The Lighthouse is one of those pubs where you wouldn’t expect a great deal of outside space, if anything at all. In reality it’s got a very nice patio that also has the benefit of a TV. This is good if you’re sportingly inclined, but not at all intrusive if you’re not. The food wants to be more than your standard pub and it’s all the better for it. It turns out calamari with a gochujang remoulade is an excellent drinking snack." - Jake Missing

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had a fantastic experience at Lighthouse. The staff were truly exceptional – warm, attentive, and made us feel so welcome from the moment we walked in. The food was equally impressive, beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. Every detail, from the service to the atmosphere, made for a perfect dining experience. Highly recommend!

Google
The Lighthouse is a lovely spot with great vibes. The food is tasty and well-presented, with a good variety on the menu, though some dishes could be a touch stronger in flavour. The service is excellent – staff are attentive, friendly, and quick to help. The atmosphere is what really makes it – warm, welcoming, and perfect for both casual meals and evenings out. Overall, a really enjoyable place that I’d happily recommend.

The lady who served was very interested and kind. Thanks her again :) The food was amazing. The beer was delicious. I tried ‘local’ beer which is very light but so tasty. Fish and chips was probably one of the best I could have tried. It was worth every penny😌

FINALLY a fabulous cup of coffee in a pub! REJOICE! Honestly so hard to come by, but I’ve been a few lunch times now to ‘work from home’ and James makes a mean flat white. Nice chap too. I’ve only had sandwiches so far, but they were superb. Love it!

Google
I rarely leave negative reviews, but the food experience here was disappointing especially for the price. The calamari starter (£10) looked and tasted like someone else’s leftovers. The presentation was careless and completely unappetising. The chicken main (£18) was no better, it felt like we were dining in a country experiencing a shortage of chicken and vegetables. The veggies tasted like they came straight from a can, bland, cold, and plastic-like. The potatoes were undercooked and hard. Overall, it really seems like food isn’t their strong point. I cannot understand how they can claim to offer the best Sunday roast in Battersea. If a basic meal feels this uninspired, it makes you wonder what the standard is based on. Wouldn’t recommend it if you’re coming for the food. The team was great and it's a nice place to watch sports but if you visit it, avoid the food menu.

Google
Brilliant pub. We’ve only visited during the day, but it’s never too busy and we always get a table. It’s kid friendly and the menu has something for everyone. The minestrone soup is very good and the service is fast and friendly.

Google
Conveniently located pub with potential. Unfortunately our visit was less than ideal, our table ordered three Sunday roasts and the beef burger, they came out after an extended wait and surprisingly small portions for the hefty price. The burger was forgotten, when we enquired, they said it was being quickly cooked straight from the freezer. We left hungry and disappointed, sad to say we won’t be returning.

Dropped by after work on Wednesday with some friends, and it was a great choice! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with lovely decor that made the place feel really inviting. The food was excellent, Ben recommended the mussels, and they definitely didn’t disappoint. Great service, great atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
There's a great outdoor seating area in the back of this pub that offers a good conversational atmosphere. The menu and bar had some decent choices to offer as well from beers to wine and food to share. We went on a Sunday evening and service seemed a bit slow, though the place was pretty nicely packed for a Sunday with a lot of groups and couples from the twenty something professional crowd. They do have a dog-friendly policy, which seemed to bother some people more than others, but I wouldn't think it would matter if your pet is fine around other people. Overall, it's a very welcoming pub with comfortable wooden furniture as well as current newspapers and even board games to offer. It's a great location for this area and the easiest way to get here is by Clapham Junction, though it's not a bad walk either from Battersea Park.

Yelp
One of the nicest London pubs I've actually ever been in - though maybe Christmas helped that be the case. It was warm, had super helpful and friendly bar staff, and smelled like Christmas. Add to this that the food was amongst the best I've ever had in an actual pub and it's easy to see why it's so popular - which apparently it is; It was my first visit there, but I've had friends telling me about it for years and honestly it didn't let me down. Drinks, food, ambiance, all first class!

Yelp
We were here on a Saturday lunchtime, it seemed exceptionally short staffed, and bar service was slow. Some of our party ordered food and was informed of a 40 minute wait. Over an hour later it transpired they'd "lost" the order. Whilst that was refunded, this was a disappointing experience.

Yelp
New manager/supervisor? Used to come here quite a lot - bit more chilled out than some of the other pubs on the same road (especially on a match day I'm looking at you, Latchmere!). However, I don't expect to be told off within minutes of arriving for leaving a door open, and I hadn't expected my tiny(!) portion of chips to be entirely hidden from view by an small/average-sized piece of fish (£13 + £10 for a glass of wine + one pint). The barman wearing the red t-shirt last night (looked like the supervisor) was just rude I've got no idea why he'd choose to work in hospitality. Perhaps we caught them on a bad day, though judging by some of the more recent reviews here, I suspect otherwise. Bottom line is we won't be going back there are far better options just around the corner (I won't mention them by name, so I hopefully won't be accused of being a competitor!).

Yelp
This place had a great ambiance and is very cute inside! However, the food I ordered was terrible! I ordered the tofu curry, which was watery and so salty, I could hardly eat it. The rice was also undercooked, and the fries lacked flavor completely. I don't like to write bad reviews but this place was really a miss unfortunately.

Yelp
I really miss the Lighthouse. I was first attracted to the strings of Christmas lights in the window-- and then to the menu. My first time there, I watched a couple read their books and paper on a rainy afternoon, then share a dish of rhubarb crumble with a pot of cream poured over it. My favorite dish on their menu was the grilled steak sandwich, but I never had any meal that wasn't good. The scallops were also divine. Love the outdoor patio. Sometimes the service could be a little slow, but it does get crowded-- and it gets crowded for a reason. Good food. Good atmosphere. Pretty people. And once the bartenders know you you're in.

Yelp
Great pub, one of my favourites. I used to come here in the summer every week because of the garden, but in the winter there is charm too. The atmosphere is very cozy, lots of wooden furniture and paintings. The food is average but the service is good. Charming pub, give it a try.

Yelp
This place is truly magical. I fell in love with it as soon as I walked in for the first time. It has a really good vibe about it- gorgeous décor, nice low lighting and a stunning outside patio. It is so welcoming you could sit here for hours. The seating is nicely spread out so lots of room for everyone and the staff are so friendly. The lovely French bar man was the most cheerful person I'd come across in long time and really put a smile on my face after a long hard day at work!

Yelp
A lovely pub. I ventured in for a glass of red after a walk in Battersea park with my boyfriend one chilly Sunday afternoon. It was very inviting, with twinkling fairy lights in the window and long wooden tables and sofas in the bar area. We ended up spending the afternoon in there playing scrabble and drinking lots of wine.

Yelp
The Lighthouse a local pub to us and a wonderful retreat from the madness of outside. The plus about this venue is that you can eat in the beer garden on tables which are big & solid, no wobble legs to deal with. Not bad selection of beers and the food is very good. Book in advance, this place gets really busy on Sundays. Staff, well they come and go but generally good, we only had one problem before and that was resolved on the spot. It's a as good in the winter as it is in the summer months, and there are a selection of board games if you and others are in the mood. A very enjoyable gastro pub.

Yelp
The lighthouse has an open room with light airy atmosphere- that isn't really my thing in the winter but I highly anticipate summers in their massive garden. They have locally sourced food and drink. Especially good is sharing the Hamish Johnston cheese board in the garden. My favorite of their many beers served include a steigle and a Rothaus Hefe Weizen & Pils.

Yelp
Very nice local pub. Do a lovely roast on a Sunday. Good beer and wine options. Garden our the back is great in the summer for sitting outside. My friend is a vegan and they were very accommodating to make a vegan dessert. Will be back.

Yelp
Lovely and very friendly London pub. The staff are unfailingly helpful and cheery. And the burgers are to die for. Looks attractive too - you can't miss the fairy lights outside! Feel very lucky to have this as my local and would highly recommend to groups especially.
