"This North Yorkshire village inn is a 'proper' pub run by a friendly team, so you’ll always find plenty of locals in the bar. The kitchen team work away behind a large glass window on vibrant, flavoursome dishes that marry together complementary local ingredients. Portions are generous and a tasting menu is available too if you want to experience a broader range of dishes. The site also houses seven bedrooms, making it a good base from which to explore York, Harrogate and Castle Howard." - Michelin Inspector

We went for a early evening dinner with family. The atmosphere was welcoming and warm. We were shown promptly to our table. Our server was friendly and helpful.|The food was of a high standard on nice warm plates. We ordered four different dishes and each one was excellent. There was nothing to fault in either the food, the service, or the venue. I would definitely recommend and will 100% return the next time we are in the area.

We first went to the Lime Tree three weeks ago and while we were there decided to book for Fathers day (Sunday lunch) we booked there and then with a member of staff, explained there would be six of us and a dog! We were told if we came at 12 they could accommodate us, great! So my husband and I turned up with my parents for a fathers day present, with the DOG, we were shown by a member of the team who knew we had a dog to an area and proceeded to order drinks and wait for our friends to arrive (the ones we had booked with previously) while sat there the owner (lady) shouted across the bar "you can't sit there, that is a free dog area, people request to sit there as they don't like dogs, you'll have to tie your dog outside or leave in the car! seriously" as you can image i wasn't best pleased, I was embarrassed for my parents and really didn't appreciate her aggressive Tone. I then made my way to the bar to explain that we had booked this table while we were here 3 weeks ago, at this point our friends arrived, who confirmed we had booked said table with dog, she told us she was fully booked and couldn't accommodate us, at this point i wanted to walk out, but this was a treat for my dad who hadn't been well and where would we go on a popular Sunday. After much huffing she said she could squeeze us in, we sat down and at no point did anyone else turn up for that table and there were other free tables, why make such a fuss, not the greatest first impression at all.||After the initial upset and aggressive nature of the owner, we did enjoy a lovely Sunday lunch and the rest of the staff were lovely, i didn't really want to pay the 10% tip, but didn't feel the rest of the staff deserved to pay for her unprofessional and aggressive manner. ||Food good, owner Rude!

Had a great family Sunday lunch here. Good portion sizes and you can tell they use high quality ingredients. The roast potatoes were crispy, and the green veg was perfectly cooked. The vegetarian stuffed onion was a fun change from the usual nut roasts/veggie wellingtons, although was a little impractical to eat with all the dry skin you had to peel off the outside. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, although we did feel a little crammed in on a tiny table in the corner despite booking in advance. The sticky toffee pudding was incredible. Overall good value for money and will definitely be returning.

Excellent 2 night stay at the Limetree Inn, so welcoming, staff are so friendly and helpful. Made us both feel so special. Our room was so comfortable and clean with wonderful toiletries, no expense spared. Even the cookie was delightful. The food and service was outstanding, You get the sense this is a great team of individuals working so hard to make this happen. Shout out to Sarah, Adam and all the team for making our stay so memorable. We shall be back. Thanks for everything.

Perfect! And I don’t use that word lightly! For someone who is quite OCD about hotel rooms I couldn’t have been happier. Spotless. Beautiful, tasteful decor and super comfortable bed and bedding. Lovely restful green in the huge Lime room - an oasis of calm above the bustling, cosy pub. |Outstanding food in a relaxed environment. Especially the guinea fowl main with excellent, fairly priced wine by the glass. |Love the whole ethos of this place- locally sourced ingredients & so much freshly prepared in their kitchen. |Don’t come if you want a pretentious place. |Do come if you want a relaxing stay, fabulous food and Yorkshire’s finest hospitality!

Superb. Variable experience on a multi stop road trip from London to the Scottish Highlands and back and this was the last stop before home. This was the highpoint. Super clean. Nicely decorated. Fantastic dinner, great breakfast, friendly staff, really comfortable bedrooms. All good. Will be a base for a few days for a future visit to the area

This was a good meal. The mackerel was absolutely exquisite. I felt that the very good monkfish could do with a squeeze of lemon. The beef starter could’ve had a bit more but was very nice. Got my beer order wrong and then charged me for an extra one, but we got that sorted.I would certainly eat here again

We were in the area in summer 2023 to look at several houses for sale when we came across this pub. We called in and had the most amazing Sunday lunch - So good in fact we ended up buying a house across the road! Amazing food, attentive staff and warm ambience. We have now become regulars for meals or a quick pint after a dog walk (the pub is very dog friendly). We leave after every meal with nothing but praise for the team. Well done to the owners for running such a fabulous establishment.|P.S the Monkfish that's currently on the menu is out of this world!|Thanks again, Paul
