The Little Blue Owl Baking Company - Review - Narberth - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Narberth is a quaint little town without much of a food scene to speak of. But Little Blue Owl is the real deal—a French bakery that’ll have you singing the praises of its croissants, Beauty & The Beast-style as you drive down Haverford Ave. Except for a few outdoor tables, it’s takeout only, so pop in to make your morning commute more palatable or to fuel your weekend errands. The best bites here are anything using buttery Viennoiserie (flaky laminated dough) like the chocolate almond croissant (why choose between chocolate or almond when the obvious answer is and), and the “dough knot,” a croissant dough over-stuffed with caramel. The unassuming kouign amann would make Paul Hollywood proud—it adds extra butter and sugar between the layers of buttery croissant dough to be richer than rich.Compensate with a black coffee (they offer both Herman’s and La Colombe) to offset the sweetness. Little Blue Owl doesn’t offer much in the savory category, but the pastrami croissant with sauerkraut and swiss cheese will scratch your breakfast sandwich itch. Add a few of the top-tier canneles to your order for snacking later. photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo Pause Unmute" - Jonathan Deutsch

This place used to have the best croissants anywhere in the area. I haven't been in a while and recently decided to give it a try. I ordered the chocolate croissant. Still made on the premises, and still pretty good, although not as good as back when I used to feel like this place was a time/space portal that took me to Paris. Now, the croissant is well layered and puffy, but lacking that crisp, almost-burnt outer layer that separates real French pastry from the stuff that's designed to please Americans. This is now leaning toward the Americans. No deep caramelized flakey surface. Sad. I also think a good croissant showcases the flavor of quality butter...this croissant was rich, but not much distinct creamy butter flavor...no grassy, sour notes. Finally, I found the chocolate average, too. I was hoping for a dark cherry almost wine-like bittersweet chocolate flavor. Instead, this tasted like good chocolate, but not exceptional chocolate. Still, it would be hard to find a better chocolate croissant in the Philly area.

Don’t believe the negative reviews here about this little French gem! For example, someone complained the pear tart was bland! Oh please 🙄 It was delicious and as you know pear is a subtle tasting fruit! Amazing bakery with excellent eclairs, cakes, pastries! I loved the madeleines, fruit tarts and one of the best croissants I have ever tasted in my life. BRIGITTE the employee deserves all the recognition! Seen her during busy times , slow times and she never fails to help, smile and quick to answer your questions! You can see her smile in her eyes even with a mask! Friendly and professional! Thank you! Will definitely visit again even with my four hour drive to this bakery 🤣

Google
This little spot is great, they have many pastries to choose from as well as coffee. I got the eclair & a little chocolate layered cake called ‘opera’ & both were delicious! The eclair was so fresh and light tasting with a good amount of filling. Their coffee is not the best but ok to grab along with your snack!

Google
Beautiful little patisserie with amazing croissants, pastries, cinnamon rolls and more. Must visit if you're in the area. Go there nice and early cause they run out of fresh baked goodies pretty quick. The staff here is super friendly and nice.

Google
Excellent croissants. Fresh, flaky, super good. Éclairs are amazing as well. Some of the customers are a bit snotty, guess that's Narberth... but the staff are really nice!

Google
Almost cakes have gone nearly 3 pm. They said "almost cakes will be sold in the morning." And "If you know which cakes you want to please call" The taste is good, not too sweet

COVID-19 bPlace is situated in downtown Narberth and offers outdoor tables and street parking. We just moved to the area and walked over because my boyfriend enjoys french pastries for breakfast and the reviews were good. The shop is very cute and I give service 5 starts for being very attentive and friendly. They had an assortment of croissants, tarts, cakes, eclairs, macrons, and waffles for sale. We ordered a box of 7 items for about $22 and took them home to try see picture below. The verdict for us was good but not outstanding as we had hoped. The croissants we tried were chocolate (great toasted outer croissant that's isn't too flakey or overly buttery just minimal chocolate inside which was a disappointment). The pumpkin croissant filling was overly sweet but not enough pumpkin flavor just meh again croissant is good. The raisin danish was my least favorite item very dry and dense I didn't finish it not too sweet. The almond croissant was the best but a little too soggy not a deal breaker but flavor was great. We also ordered two tarts apricot and pear and a lacie cookie (dark chocolate, almond, butter) absolutely delicious for .90 cents. The tarts crusts had a nice texture, great flavor. The best one was apricot because of the flavor and soft texture in contrast with the tart. The pear one lacked flavor and was overly sweet tasted like a slimy sugar cookie. Final verdict is support local businesses and find what you like this place is cute and there is something for everyone I'm just offering suggestions and price point is fair for quality and portions.

Google
WOW as a croissant connoisseur, these are some amazing croissants. as someone that studied abroad in france, on par with croissants you would get in france, and they weren't sold out at 2pm which is wild for such quality.

Yelp
I've never been to Narberth before so I was walking the street and stopped in because this place is so cute. I wish I could have tried one of everything because it all looked incredible. Got the turkey croissant (amazing), a coconut macaroon (also amazing), and a decaf mocha (stoked for places that have decaf espresso, and it was amazing). Staff is friendly and super quick at making drinks. Everyone should come here.

Yelp
We really miss Le Petit Mitron because their bakery goods were so authentically French and delicious. Blue Owl replaced Le Petit Mitron, and much to our disappointment, the food quality dropped to that of all the other "French" bakeries. They are OK, but not deliciously French. "Chez Alice" in Lambertsville, NJ is better.

Yelp
An absolute JEM of a bakery -- high quality, tasty pastries and desserts. A must go-to spot. Highlights: - Pastrami croissant: basically a Reuben in croissant form. The Rye flour is key. Next time will take home to toast up in air fryer. - Dough knot: if you love caramel, this donut/croissant is for you -- flavors and textures work so well together. We aren't even locals but will definitely be back for more!

Paige J.

Yelp
Amazing baked goods and even better customer service! They went above and beyond to help make sure my order made it into the right hands and I can't thank them enough. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Isaac R.

Yelp
The best bakery in the area for pastries! Everything is delicious and crunchy the way it needs to be! Note they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Friendly staff, I love this shop, but it's dangerous for my diet

Yelp
This is the BEST bakery in this area!!!! No joke everything I had so far was delicious. My absolute favorite is their eclair and pistachio tart. It's so hard to find eclairs with rich and flavorful cream inside but ones they make check all the boxes for me. Their croissants and other pastries are always really fresh. I feel like the prices are very reasonable. It's similar to a lot of the cafes around this area. The cashiers are always very helpful and sweet. There aren't places to sit inside which can be the only downfall of this bakery. However there are cute chairs and tables outside where u can sit when it's nice out.

Nancie S.

Yelp
Pastries are just yummy and this is coming from a seasoned baker of 35 years. Angela and her hubby are talented bakers and friendly people. The staff are knowledgeable and kind. I am so happy that I can stop in and purchase baked goods as flavorful as my own! Tnx Angela!!!
google avatar

Jason V.

Yelp
I've updated this to four stars. The pastrami croissant has been consistently great - keep it up!
google avatar

Yelp
Small little local gem that serves French pastries. They have a small selection but the quality is elite. If you like croissants, you want to stop by here.
google avatar

Jenaya P.

Yelp
Take a trip to France here at Le Petit Mitron, it's is a great experience. You can definitely satisfy your sweet tooth at this cute bakery shop filled with friendly staff and delicious sweet treats. I came here looking to try a sweet croissant. I discovered that not only did they have different varieties of crossiants from chocolate to cheese but also other delectable french pastries to explore. Make sure to get there early because they make there pastries fresh and they may not have your pastry of choice avaliable if you arrive late due to it selling out. Overall I got the almond croissant and a raisin danish and it was buttery sugary flaky goodnesss!
google avatar

Al R.

Yelp
OMG! Love this place! I live in Maryland so I only get to this bakery when I visit my family in PA. Their croissants are perfect and their canneles are amazing. Really authentically French! Hope to get back here soon!

Bob T.

Yelp
Frozen pastries? I've been coming to Le Petit Mitron since Rick Nichols wrote his 2001 review praising them to the skies and I can vouch for the fact that they, too, froze their pastries. I can also vouch for the fact that Angela and Andrew have made spectacular use of the baton Patrick and Isabelle passed to them, adding canneles to the mix. I can also vouch for the fact that their pastries (like LPM's) freeze well. I buy in bulk and always buy over 100 dollars worth on every visit, as many pastries as will fit in my freezer. If it's a nice day I'll have a few to eat outside with my daughter with a cup of their excellent Herman's coffee.
google avatar

Deepika R.

Yelp
It's a cute little French patisserie right next to the Narberth train station. Perfect to grab a drink and a fresh pastry and catch up with friends or to just snack on something delicious. They do have seating inside and some tables outside. The tables outside would be perfect to sit at when it's nice outside. They have a myriad of teas and confections to buy and I think the chocolates are made in house which is great. I stopped in here with a friend for some tea and a pastry one evening and we each got a tea and split a chocolate croissant and it was great! It's everything I want in a little local bakery and I will definitely go back to try other baked goods from them. The fruit tarts and eclairs looked so inviting. Good job Le petit Mitron! I'm a fan!

Yelp
Mmmmmmm Fresh Delicious Mouthwatering Esthetically gorgeous Flavors galore Is you love fresh fresh fresh pastry

Yelp
This place just reopened under new management. I was at first worried that it wouldn't measure up, but after visiting today, all my fears melted away with the first bite of the cheesecake! Amazing french pastries and desserts!
google avatar

Dee G.

Yelp
It recently changed management and while I think this place is still miles ahead of average American bakeries it does not in my opinion match the quality of the bakes if the prior chef. I tried the opera cake and the chocolate raspberry cake. The opera cake here previously was simply divine. This one was okay. Not the same level at all. And also I think not as good as the French bakery in Ardmore. So yeah, good but as good as the previous management. The previous management had issues too. Whenever we went the store was either closed or items weren't available.
google avatar

Fiona D.

Yelp
As a former city gal who's been to her fair share of bakeries these were one of the best! The kouigin amann were perfectly flaky and nicely glazed which added an extra crunch. We also got the pain suisse, something new that we have never seen in any of our staple philly bakeries which was equally delicious. Staff were friendly and made a mean cappuccino. Also loved seeing the baking cart in the back so you know everything is made fresh and in house. Can't wait to come back!

Janet S.

Yelp
The old owners made the best almond croissant I ever tasted. The new almond croissant is HUGE, so big and heavy it is impossible to eat. there is something different/ wrong about the pastry, although I can't put my finger on it. I do not think they bake all their pastries. I went in to buy an opera and was told they were still frozen. This has been a huge disappointment. I have to drive way across town to get there. I used to be worth it but not anymore.

bill e.

Yelp
A basic French bakery with more air and accent than substance----the pastries, although slightly over priced, can be dry and sparse in the fruit or seasoning----the baked goods are notoriously over-priced and rarely reflect the value for the price. 26 dollars for a pie that is heavily crust laden and a bit cheesy in its size--the fruit or filling has to be measured by the controller because no abundance of flavoring anywhere. the quiche is small and narrow, hardly worth the price. the added goods such as bonne mamman are available anywhere at 35% less except at Costco where it is more than 50% less. if you like to hear French and want to be worked, it is the place to buy a 3 dollar croissant when a dollar offering at giant does the same job. bring your mask because if you don't, they want to charge you 25 cents to be masked up plus 3 bucks for a small medium tea. home for the wannabees in the heart of the mainline

Jose M.

Yelp
This little simple pastry shop is a crown jewel of Narberth it reminds me of those little pastry shops in Vernon, France their pastries are French made in heaven - beautiful good looking pastries and taste good same thing with their staff are like good looking French ladies.Oohrah

Chad U.

Yelp
Went in last week and discovered that new owners/management have taken over. The opera cake was one of my favorite desserts, but the new version is not as delicate as the previous version which was probably 2/3 of the current size with much thinner layers. The new version is fine but just not the same in flavor or execution. I'll be back to try again but this does not match up to the previous version of the bakery.

Yelp
This is my wife's favorite place! Their cinnamon rolls are so light and delicious. The tiny donuts with jam are heavenly - can't wait to try everything!
google avatar

Yelp
I don't eat sweets but everyone I've gotten a cake for from here loves it! Also really good coffee and friendly service. It's a great tiny place and always will by people treats from this place

Yelp
When it comes to classic French bakeries in the Main Line Narberth proper, Le Petit Mitron has been the 2nd best option ever since Georges Perrier opened Art of Bread (http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-art-of-bread-narberth#hrid:7wuKSgBaPzCnmrs_l8nSZQ/src:self) as a full blown pâtisserie with more widespread options and a sit down sandwich menu. However if you're looking for more of a take away option with traditional pastries, coffee on the go, or just a place to pickup Kinder and other European chocolates; its here that wins out. The croissants are crisp and buttery, the tarts are whimsical and fruity, and offerings like the hazelnut and chocolate creamed Opera elevate things to a whole new level of decadence. If you need a cup of joe on the go you'll find La Colombe's finest at a decent price. And your sweet tooth may persuade you to walk away with some truffles, biscotti, jams, and other treats. The Main Line prices for most of these may be just a touch up there, but the reward of its decadence is worth it.
google avatar

Kiara B.

Yelp
Croissants here use 100-percent butter as opposed to a 50/50 mix of butter and margarine, so it's the real deal and explains the price tag. In fact, I'd say most of their pastries are pretty good, though I think Aux Petits Delices in Wayne does Napoleon Slice better - I think it has more vanilla in it. The Lindors are very overpriced (90 cents a piece) considering they're the same variety you can get at Rite Aid or CVS. If they were the exclusives that you can only get at the Lindor store in the Premium Outlets or Allentown, then I could better justify the price.
google avatar

Ari J.

Yelp
This place is crazy good. Real French pastries made by people with accents. I will gladly have cardiac procedures in exchange for enjoying these delicacies.
google avatar

Ruth K.

Yelp
A cute bakery to fill the needs of your sweet tooth. They had consistent customers but not crowded. The staff are verryy nice and pleasant. I saw a lot of pastries and desserts I've never seen before. I had their "opera" and the pumpkin spice latte. I also bought a french choco/cookie. Everything was great! The opera was decadent and unique tasting. I also saw that thrybhave la colombe coffee but I didn't get it this time around... I plan on coming back next time I'm in town! FYI- They have minimal seating indoors and a couple of tables and chairs outside.
google avatar

Stephanie O.

Yelp
I have been looking for a good french pastry shop since I moved to Philadelphia and I am so glad I found Le Petit Mitron! You can find macarons, croissants, cakes and tarts, which are all very delicious by the way (the chocolate croissant is to die for). What I enjoyed the most however is their selection of imported french cookies and chocolates and candies. Straight from my childhood! If Teisseire, Prince de Lu, Barquette, Or Calisson d'Aix means something to you, you MUST stop by Le Petit Mitron. If not, you should go anyways and enjoy a crispy, delicate and totally satisfying croissant. With coffee or tea!

C. L.

Yelp
Whenever I want to be really nice to friends, I go to Le Petit Mitron to get them treats. They make the only real croissants in the area, from what I've found. They make their own chocolates. Sublime desserts. Walking into the store, the aroma transports one to somewhere close to heaven on earth. Thank you, petit Mitron!
google avatar

Connor D.

Yelp
Everything I've tried from Le Petit Mitron has blown me away. I absolutely adore their cheese croissants! The crust on the tarts is crunchy and flaky and perfectly balanced with the sweet fruit. And their iced coffee is perfect!
google avatar

Polly B.

Yelp
I haven't been there in person, but my wonderful daughter brought me treats from Le Petit Mitron for Mother's Day and again today just because. I can honestly say that the chocolate croissants (pain au chocolat) are as good as any you will find in Paris. Their Opera cake is sublime, and the raspberry cookies are delightful. It's a good thing I don't live closer to this bakery or I would be there every day!

Amy B.

Yelp
The highest level of freshness and highest quality ingredients! Everything I have bought stopped conversation as the pure joy of flavors erupted! The Opera cake a family favorite! The chocolate filled chocolate eclair amazing the mini blueberry tart- sumptuous and a new addition the hazelnut chocolate cake - mind blowing! Please support this incredible gift! Btw even their employees are wonderful! Leo, I wish with all my heart you get into Julliard! And you come back and work when you have time because they are lucky to have you as a face to greet and help people!
google avatar

Ethan P.

Yelp
Amazing place. Nice and cozy and looks beautiful. The Madelins are really great and get them every time. Always perfect and recommend this place to anyone passing by it.
google avatar

Jason M.

Yelp
I have never been to France. But sitting outside of Le Petit Mitron on a perfect Saturday morning with a delicious cheese croissant and several macaron polished off has transported me there. To complete this perfect visit a French speaking couple next to me.
google avatar

dara m.

Yelp
This is a place I will freely admit is beyond my sophisication level. I don't speak French. I can't eat a lot of pasteries because of my damn dairy allergy, especially French ones ( oh the cream filling) but this is one of my favorite places to walk into and even just buy a cookie. A small, tiny cookie from this place. That makes my whole day . The coffee is supreme- La Colombe. The teas- so many selections. the pasteries- so wonderful. On Saturday morning when we have our children we buy 12 croissants and they are gone in minutes ( greedy bitches). There are so many wonderful choices of pasteries it's too wonderful to even think about. In the summer, they have a delectable sorbet in again- wonderful- flavors like mango and raspberry. The children ask all winter for it. One can also buy chocolates ( so romantic) and candies ( so sweet). Even lollipops. I wish the place was open right now...sigh. It's just so French and so delicious and so romantic and so- wonderful.

Daniel N.

Yelp
Le Petit Mitron is a great small business that has REALLY good pastries. The fruit tarts here are a must-have, and the people are very friendly. If you're in need of a tasty treat, La Petit Mitron is definitely the place to go.
google avatar

Felicity N.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone. My fiance and I stopped here today to buy some cookies. which I've had many times before. This was my first time in the actual store and the customer service was atrocious. We were the only two patrons in the store, yet we were not greeted and no one offered to help us with anything. I made eye contact with both employees, yet received blank stares in return. A woman and her daughter walked in behind us and were greeted warmly, which was a blatant difference from silence we were greeted with. I'm extremely disappointed as I've recommended this shop to MANY colleagues at the University of Pennsylvania based on food quality. I will no longer be patronizing this shop or recommending it to anyone. Extremely disappointed.
google avatar

Karen F.

Yelp
Tres bien! Magnifique! Et c'est la verite! I thoroughly enjoyed a sublime almond croissant. Fresh, crisp, buttery, multi-layered, filled with almond paste and sprinkled with sliced almonds & powdered sugar. Parfait! The coffee drinks, chocolates, pastries and tartes here are all so delicieux! Can't wait to return! Mon dieu, c'est le meilleur!

Bruce W.

Yelp
I used to love this place until today when I had the worst customer experience. There were five people working in the store. Three customers were undecided about what they wanted so I walked up to the cash register as I knew what I wanted. The owner said to me I had to wait until the other customers were done, to wait until it was my turn, and to get in the back of the line. I was flabbergasted. Two employees were just standing there. The owner was putting a tray of cakes away and at the least could have said "i'll be right with you." They've lost my business.
google avatar

Alex V.

Yelp
This is the best bakery in the area. The deserts are out of this world good. The people who own and run Le Petit Mitron are French. My French buddy swears that the pastries here are even better than what he can get in his French hometown. Last week, I had a blueberry tart from here that was insanely fresh. If you're anywhere near Narberth, I highly recommend making a stop at Le Petit Mitron.
google avatar

Nat P.

Yelp
Quaint French bakery in Narberth! I was passing by this place in downtown Narberth, near the train station, and had to stop in, just from glancing through the huge windows of the shop. The place is serene, very light and airy on entering. And at first glance you see the glass cabinets filled with treats ranging from tarts, palmiers to cakes and danishes. Everything is freshly made. That day I had a palmier (puff pastry dough shaped like a palm leaf) and a pear danish. Both were divine, but the pear danish was superb. It wasn't as dough as a lot of danishes I'm accustomed to and the pear was an unusual touch for me since I hadn't had that before. This place wasn't busy at all, maybe since it was a weekday. This made it good for browsing and questioning the helpful and friendly staff. I'm sure to stop back if I'm ever in Narberth again.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
Everything is delicious here--everything. They have the best pastries and the best coffee. It's expensive, but it's in an upscale neighborhood. The croissants are flakey and buttery--you must try them! Their fruit tarts have thee best crust. The raspberry and lemon cookies are my go-to treat. The staff is very friendly. Note that they have a $10 card limit.

Dakota F.

Yelp
This place has been a staple for my family for two decades and serves up French baked goods whose caliber isn't met elsewhere on the mainline. I didn't even like almonds when a regular convinced me to try their almond croissant and I've never looked back (except when it's out of stock which does happen if you arrive after the morning rush). That being said, their chocolate croissant and beignets are hard to bypass and never has one of their other individual pastries or baguettes disappointed. Their Royal cake is by far the star of the show and has served as my family's Valentine's Day cake (and my milestone birthday cakes) which we look forward to every year. If you like chocolate and praline and have a special occasion approaching, it is divine, and like most French baking, not easily replicated at home. While the coffee isn't out of this world, it pairs so nicely with whatever else you're getting. Probably the only downside to this French getaway tucked away in the main street of Narberth is that it shuts down for an indefinite period of time in August and September. As a heads up, you do need to spend $10 to use a credit card or there is a fee but, since the prices aren't exactly cheap and everything on their shelves is tempting, that's not a hard feat.
google avatar

Nelson S.

Yelp
We just moved to this small town of Narberth. "Downtown" Narberth is not really a downtown. It's essentially a couple of blocks with a few bars, a few restaurants, a few stores and a Septa station. Le Petit Mitron is completely out of place in this little town. You could transport this place into any big city in the U.S. and it would be able to compete with places like Sprinkles and Crumbs. The pastries and sweets are unbelievable. I'm not sure if Narberth is a destination for anyone who does not live here, but this place makes it worth the trip. Its right across from the R5 station so its convenient.

Yelp
Let me tell you my love of hot chocolate....some people have hobbies and well mine is cocoa. I have had hot chocolate in europe, the middle east and all over america. This is one of my top 5 hot cocoa loves... Yum! And if you would like to really have a treat a crossiant is a great way to go as well. Decadence french style...hold on I am drooling...ok, I am back. Check it out and you won't be able to stay away.
google avatar

Victoria F.

Yelp
Absolutely marvelous. As I'm writing this, I'm wondering why I don't wander down to Le Petit Mitron more frequently. My wallet is grateful that I don't, but my belly is heartbroken. Everything everyone is saying is true. It's a perfect little french bakery. Not much seating, just a couple uncomfortable benches inside and a couple tables on the sidewalk in the summer. Baked goods range from croissants to elaborate pastries to elegant tarts, cakes and pies. My favorite is the chocolate-almond croissant, which I've never seen anywhere else and which always sells out before 9 a.m.
google avatar

S F.

Yelp
This place really does things right. There are no bloated buns piped with whipped cream filling and called eclairs. If there truly is a mitron back there doing the work, he should get bumped to maitre. And as a bonus, you can buy Kinder products here. This is a huge relief for our kids. The only bad thing about the place is that it closes in August. That means, after every return from a summer break in France, we have to wait for eternity until we can get proper chausson aux pommes again.
google avatar

Vanessa W.

Yelp
Came here a while back to pick up some tasties for my hubby and me. I purchased three croissants: plain, almond, and chocolate, and a fruit tart. These were hands-down the best croissants I've ever eaten in the States, and better than many in Europe. The fruit tart was also delicious but being honest I've had better at Wegmans--sorry! (To be fair, Wegmans' pastries are also better than most.) The staff are friendly and the store is bright and clean. It is very quaint and does make you feel a little like you are in a European bakery. My only complaint is that things seem to be displayed somewhat precariously--I'm always a little concerned I am going to knock something over. (But I haven't!) In addition to pastries they sell various chocolates, hot beverages, and a small selection of Haribo. So if you need to satisfy a craving for European sweets, you'll probably be able to do that here. The main drawback is that the place is pricey. A single filled croissant, for instance, can set you back $3.50.

Yelp
The other day I was sitting in the Headnut in Ardmore having a cup of coffee when a guy and his daughter sat down next to me. We started a conversation and discovered that we have a lot in common. I told him that I wrote reviews on Yelp and our subject switched to surprise- food. He told me about his favorite bakery located in Narberth. He said that they have the best French pastries in the area. So you know where this is going. After I had my coffee, I immediately set out for Le Petit Mitron to try the chocolate croissants that he was raving about. The bakery was located in beautiful downtown Narberth which is a cutie, quaint little shopping area with a main street vibe. I was tickled because I had never known this some what hidden enclave existed. Parked on the street and put a case quarter in the parking meter and it gave me a whole hour! If you ever parked in Philly and received a few minutes for the same quarter, you know how I felt. When I entered Le Petit Mitron, the aroma surrounded me and I was hooked. The bakery cases were filled with pies, cakes, pastries breads and cookies and 2 motherly type ladies gently packing bags with all the goodies. I asked for a pear tart and a chocolate croissant and a cup of La Colombe coffee. The pear tart was delicious with a buttery, crispy crust and the fruity filling was like velvet but not overly sweet. The star of the show was the chocolate croissant, flaky, buttery, with a slightly crisp outer layer and filled with rich dark chocolate. It was magnificent. Took all the strength I had to not go back and order a dozen to go. Instead I chilled. So whenever I go to that area to get a cigar, I have one more stop to make.
