The Lobby Bar At Ace Hotel Brooklyn - Review - Downtown Brooklyn - New York - The Infatuation

"When we have friends planning a visit to New York, we tell them to stay at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Brooklyn for the sole purpose of meeting them at the lobby bar for a drink. It’s dark and spacious, with lots of armchairs, green velvet couches, and a bar under a big circular window where bartenders mix ice-cold cocktails like the Part Time Lover with gin and banana liqueur. Like at its Manhattan location, during the day it fills up with people working on computers while eating avocado toast, and then at some point around the totally respectable hour of 4pm, they order their first drink. Then, the computers close, a DJ might show up, and the evening really begins. Come and loiter for a few hours, or swing by for a drink before your reservation at Gage & Tollner." - Willa Moore

We needed a place to get a drink and a bite to eat at 3pm on a weekday and the Lobby felt like the best option around us. Not super crowded. Good music that wasn’t too loud but gave it a fun vibe. Our bartender was super sweet and the drinks were fine. The best part was the food. It was actually delicious with decent size portions (for a hotel lobby bar). We had fun! We might have also made a little art projects with our food. So maybe a bit too much fun. We all had a laugh about it including our nice bartender. The birthday cake was AMAZING and I would come back for it. Overall great experience on a random weekday.

Very swanky and fun spot to get a cocktail and a bite. The atmosphere and interior design is super chic. The food is flavorful and the cocktails are creative. Can’t go wrong here.

Very hip spot to work from or just to hang with friends in the lounge area. We had a couple light snacks (fries and beer salad) one night which were good. Breakfast items were average. Avoid the matcha, it was the clumpiest I've ever had and had to throw it out as it was not drinkable.

The Lobby at the Ace Hotel in downtown Brooklyn offers lots of couch and table seating do to work cafe style. The bar is open during the day for coffee and even drinks and food. There is a long table area where lots of folks are getting work done and also an area where you can take phone calls. Music is on in the Lobby so it’s not super super quiet but something to keep in mind.

Edited Dec 2024: updated to 5 stars, I've had several visit since September, and service was definitely much better. Struck up a conversation with the bartender and they even told me how to make their Japanese Old Fashion; would definitely come back again. Edited 9/24: I live nearby and I've been to The Lobby at the Ace hotel a couple times and I always get the Japanese Old Fashioned. I came on a Saturday night and they said they were out of the Japanese Old Fashioned, but would definitely have it the next day Sunday. I came back the next day (through the rain) and when I asked for the Japanese Old Fashioned, they said they were still out. I would have been fine if they told me on Saturday they didn't know when they'd have the Japanese Old Fashioned in stock again, but telling me something that wasn't true and making me go through the rain and then not apologizing for still not having the drink available was pretty frustrating and annoying. Don't get me wrong, still a great place, ambiance is nice, but man, the service was not good this time around for me. ----- Cocktails here are very good, lots of seating, very swanky ambiance, great for dates

One of my favorite bars in Brooklyn. Always cute pops ups or weekend events happening and the vibe is perfect. Twin Flame and Espresso Martini’s here always hit, one of my favorite Espresso Martinis in the city tbh. Love the design + lighting and the music usually too!

Google
Half hotel lobby, half cocktail lounge, this spacious bar has plenty of seating options and is adjacent to a "garden" nook and long table for guest laptop use. You can tap menu items from the onsite restaurant, As You Are, read a book in a cozy nook, or just sip well-made cocktails. Dogs are welcome (awesome!) so you may see them curled up at the feet of other guests.

Google
Brand new swanky bar inside the Ace hotel. Not crowded and relatively low key music. The sun pours in through two huge windows at the bar in the early evening. Come here for a relaxing drink after a long day at work. Lots of couches and varied seating. Cocktails are boozy and delicate.

Yelp
I came for Black Girl Viynal night and baby a time it was. One the ladies played some tunes using only vunyals and they did not disappoint at all. The drinks at the bar were done so good. I had my favorite of course prosecco but the expresso Martini was BABY the BOMB.COM. They have good also you can purchase the fries were good. The atmosphere was really nice.

Yelp
I have stayed in a number of hotels, especially in NYC but no one tops the ACE in Brooklyn! This is where all the cool kids are haha! Yes, including me! The location is amazing first off and the hotel is extremely modern and up to date. This isn't just a hotel this is an experience. The hotel really has that special Brooklyn feeling. The customer service is amazing! The staff is friendly, helpful and overall a great time. The room is a good size for a NYC Hotel and has some fun views as well. The hotel has an art installation that changes frequently which was really cool to see. The bar at night is when the hotel really comes alive! They have a live DJ that spins tones all night and also some amazing guest djs also. The drinks are delicious and the food at the restaurant next door was perfection. I can't wait to stay there again and have been recommending this hotel to all my loved ones!

Yelp
Ace Hotel is TOP TIER. We came to NY for a concert at the Barclay Center and wanted to stay somewhere within walking distance. I'm so glad we chose this place. We were greeted with a smile by the front desk staff and actually felt like they wanted us there. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with plenty of space to hang out and soak up some city vibes. Our room was lovely! The bed was comfy, and the sofa and chair added just the right amount of seating. We had breakfast at the restaurant and it was delicious. We were also in walking distance of TONS of restaurants and shopping. I would definitely recommend staying here. When we checked out the staff was just as friendly, they even provided us transportation to the airport for much cheaper than Uber. Keep up the great work Ace Hotel. If I come back to Brooklyn, this is the place I will stay. Also, shout out to the amazing bartender!

Yelp
I've been coming here a few times and I love the convenience of everything around. Some hotels you can tell it's a high turnover of staff but I literally see the same faces especially when I check in later at night. Same experience very friendly and I am so picky and big with that. Rooms are New York boutique hotel rooms unless you pick other spots. Which use to bother me but like I mentioned it's the ease of convenience around me. Oh the bartender and the drinks, I can't believe I forgot that. But I'm so picky with French 75 and they make em very well there. Dog friendly so that's a plus as well. But I do love coming here even to get away.

Yelp
I booked this through Agoda with a price guarantee. I was charged that price and the Hotel was nice. I received an additional fee of $35 a night for resort/destination fee. I feel this is deceptive, as there is no resort, and only a gym. I believe there should be more truth in advertising about the actual fee. This is considered a surcharge, and not part of any price guarantee. Everyone pays it, and it is not optional, just make it part of the true price.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my recent stay at the Ace as I always do (there was that one time in Seattle that we won't talk about). It was my first time at the newish Ace in Brooklyn and I was incredibly impressed with all the things: location, room size, amenities and friendly fabulous staff (the Ace hires the best people across the board, across the country!) And we all know that signature Ace coolness from the santal candles burning to the amber glow of reception and bar that makes you feel like you're entering a sepia print of a tony affair. I am obsessed with their aesthetic. This carries over to the rooms, which have so many nice touches. Besides it being an impressive size, it has a huge window... hello, city views (we had a basic king room, no upgrades, just so you know I'm not going on about a suite or anything). I love their products, reasonably priced mini bar, and that bed was very comfortable with crisp sheets. Location: you're near it all: subways, eateries and coffee shops. Black Seed bagels are literally next door and there's a Starbucks one block down. You're walking distance to Barclays and Smith Street awesomeness. I adore this hotel so much. I'd be hard-pressed to stay elsewhere when in Brooklyn. Rates are competitive for the area (for the same price, I once stayed a dreary Sheraton nearby).

Yelp
Nice vibes though it was a bit of a blur. Jajajaaa! Met up with some ppl after leaving an event. The music was popping. Like who knew?! Lounge vibe & Nicely lit with intimate seating. Friendly ppl! I had a a ball dancing with my drink & my two step. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Minor annoyances, but my stay here was great. Nice rooms, comfy beds, no extraneous noise. The lobby, starting in the evenings, has BLASTING music. You cannot hear yourself think, nevermind have real conversations over a drink. I'm really not old enough to feel like this was a me problem. My other minor complaint was in joining the reception the hotel hosted on our last day there. The card keys allow access via the elevator to your specific floor only and apparently do not work to get to common use floors like the event spaces on the second floor. We had numerous folks riding up and down the elevators trying to get it to stop at floor 2 before we finally asked and were told to use a different elevator in an entirely different location. Annoying, but everything else went really well, so I didn't knock off a star for this. Staff were super nice and helpful as well!

Yelp
Great hotel, shady practices. My company booked the reservation for me while visiting for a convention. Upon check in they asked for a credit card on file for a REFUNDABLE security deposit. A week later, I was charged $140 for 4 nights on a card they didn't have permission to charge. I was never told about a "Destination Fee". When checking in I was never told about the $20 credit I got for the restaurant either. Upon check out, I was never told I would be charged $140 extra for my already paid for stay. The charge is for WiFi, tv usage, and the gym. Imagine that, putting a tv in your room and charging you $35 a day to watch it. Wild. Too bad they have shady practices, it's a nice stay.

Yelp
Love the Ace experience. As is in Manhattan, it is not out of place to find a guitar in your room (don't expect it to be in tune) and a record player. The mini / snack bar is always fun, as is the rest of the decor. The beds are comfortable, the blinds do black out most of the morning light, and the bathroom has room to put your things down. Heck, the room itself is much bigger than you would get in Manhattan. Check in and check out is easy though I wish they had valet service for your car. There is a discount available at iPark, but they are not the most friendly place in the world. Parking overnight? Let me see your hotel reservation. At least there are other garages in the area too. I guess for Brooklyn this is better than most areas. Attached for food is As You Are which is great. The bar area and the common lobby is spacious though it can get weird at night. It seems people come here, well, I'm not sure for whatever reason, and though they don't stay in the hotel they do provide entertainment of sorts if you are doing a late night unwind on a Saturday night.

Yelp
The bar was very lovely and the bartender makes a great hibiscus margarita ,the dj was playing good music..and the chips and dip was good and the fries was good as well

Yelp
I stumbled on The Ace while reading reviews for hotels in Brooklyn. Pretty much every hotel in a reasonable price range seemed like a disaster waiting to happen- except this one! I booked but to be honest, I was a little nervous it was a set up with paid reviews. It wasn't! From the moment we walked through the door, it was great. Tiffany, a manager, checked us in (middle of the night) and was friendly and helpful. The hotel is gorgeous! I could smell the cedar wood even coming through the door. The room was clean, the decor was so cute, and it was well equipped. It was actually a little bigger than I anticipated too! Location was perfect. I would definitely stay there again

Yelp
I love this hotel for the design and the lobby bar. The restaurant is pretty great too. Unfortunately, I stayed for the first time this weekend and the bathroom had an awful smell. We asked to change rooms and they were super accommodating and helpful and thought the smell was less offensive in the second room it definitely creeped in a bit. I believe it's something with the pipes. This was on the 5th and 6th floors. This is not an experience I would recommend until that fix the smell issue.

Yelp
We loved the Ace Hotel Brooklyn for a three night stay. Incredibly friendly staff from the front desk, bartenders to housekeeping. You simply can't ask for better service and the rooms are comfortable and charming. My one complaint is that when you pay the up charge for a skyline view room, it doesn't mean you get a skyline view, only a room on the 10th floor or higher. That's bogus. A skyline view should mean you see the skyline, not be in the shadow of the apartment next door. They gave me a discount when I asked about the promised view we clearly didn't get. "Our building has two sides". We'll stay there again but won't fall for the skyline view bait and switch. Do better, Ace.

Yelp
The hotel looks like a hole in the wall walking past, but when you come in it is so cute! It's boutiqueish and very dim. If you have issues with dim specs the lobby, work stations, and seating spaces will be a hard adjustment. The rooms are very nicely decorated, such a rustic historical feel. Comfortable bedding and I loved the towels. You can hear people in the hallways, so it was a bit noisy at some points in the early evening. One thing that's odd is there is no coffee in the room. There is hot tea you can purchase and a pot to make hot water. I am a coffee drinker, and don't care too much for Starbucks. But there is one across the street. Overall a very nice space.

Yelp
Great vibes! DJ was playing smooth and relaxing music in the lounge and the bar. The drinks were excellent

Ramiz M.

Yelp
I was recently staying here and on my first morning out in the city I tripped and fell on a glass bottle cutting my hand up pretty bad. I rushed back to the hotel bleeding everywhere and the employees were amazing. They went above and beyond to call the ambulance, my wife, and make sure I didn't lose consciousness as I went into shock. These were pretty deep cuts. Huge, huge respect to Janeva Gaddist, Vanessa Eugene, Harry Edwards, Ronald Lewis, and Miguel Pagan for all being good human beings and handling a pretty intense situation with grace and kindness. They all deserve a raise.

Yelp
I enjoyed my stay at ace hotel. Rooms are a great size and came with a couch and chair. Shower is my favorite. Got to stay for a week for work and the staff was great, as was the food.

Yelp
My stay at The Ace Hotel in Boerum Hill was above and beyond a delight. My apartment had a pipe burst and Serenity and I needed to find somewhere to stay until we could go home. We arrived just before 630am and everyone was wonderful to us. Serenity was spoiled and made a fuss over, and as you can see from the photos she was living her best, most authentic life and didn't want to leave. The room was gorgeous and comfortable. The Lobby Bar makes a perfect cocktail, and the art installation in the lobby was thoughtful and evocative. I appreciate that the entire staff gave us an oasis in a very stressful two days. Highly recommend here and I hope to stay again under much happier circumstances!

Yelp
We stayed at the Ace Hotel a few weeks ago for an extended holiday weekend. The location is why I picked the hotel - very close to so many subway lines - A, C, G, 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, R, W...you can get anywhere from the hotel. The hotel couldn't be cooler - the lobby, the check in desk, the restaurant in the lobby, the rooms... We had a few fancy drinks in the lobby bar just because it was such a cool space. We had a good stay!
google avatar

Yelp
This hotel has a cool vibe, good restaurant, and very comfortable beds. Parking is down the street; small discount, very short walk. The view from our room on top floor was striking. The room was attractive. Cons: there weren't any dresser drawers and no closet. The space to hang clothes was limited. You have to leave everything in the suitcase. There were three of us in the room, so the suitcases were definitely in the way. We couldn't unpack. It's an open design, which looks great but was challenging for us. I'd visit again, but hopefully when I'm traveling lighter.

Yelp
Amazing stay! My colleagues and I were in NY for business. Staying in Brooklyn (which we never do) was closer to our job. The public space were lovely and well decorated. Plenty of seating in the lobby and bar area. Everyone was so friendly! From the front desk to the housekeeping crew. The rooms are big (well, bigger than the hotel rooms we have stayed in Manhattan). Comfy bed, a large couch and chair to stretch out on. Great central Air Large windows for sunny days. Quiet rooms (though you can sometimes hear the subway). Lots of restaurants and coffee shops in the neighborhood, plus a Whole Food and Trader Joe's close by. (Though not much room in the fridge provided for my coconut water). If we are ever working in this area again, this hotel will be our landing spot!

Yelp
Wow wow wow. The new Ace Hotel is GORG. I was blown away by how beautiful the interior is. Especially for folks who live or are familiar with this neighborhood, this hotel is like a breath of fresh air on a corner that could really use some love. The Ace franchise really ran with the potential of this space and created a swanky and sophisticated neighborhood cocktail lounge. The Lobby bar feels super luxe with a ton of plush seating available. You can also reserve the bar couches in advance. Prices are high at $16/$17, but you get the atmosphere you expect when you pay a premium. I ordered the Magi Lune with vodka, plum, pear eau-de-vie, hazelnut liqueur. It was more delicious than I thought it'd be and very well balanced. Overall, the Ace far exceeded my expectations. If you have friends or family visiting, this is definitely the hotel I would recommend in the area.

Yelp
I've been to a couple of Ace Hotels, but my first time at this Brooklyn location! They know how to create a space for work, play and relaxation all in one place. Thoughts and Recommendations: - Rooms are clean, comfortable and offer great amenities! The bed and bathroom were both clean. Hot water was quick and HOT. They provided hangers, full body length mirror (THANK YOU), hair dryer, steamer, iron and quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. That all makes for one happy gal :) - Room cleaning service is optional which I like! I like to think of myself as a pretty eco-conscious person and like to opt out of new towels every single day. - Location is great! There were plenty of food options and coffee shops in walking distance. Also super close to a subway station! - Great common areas for working! I had to work remote from the hotel and despite there being lots of people in the lobby, the wifi was on point and there was plenty of seating. - Staff was friendly! Everyone we interacted with was so warm and helpful. You almost forget they're "New Yorkers" :) The Ace Hotel does everything right. The interior decor is modern and cozy creating a vibe that is perfect for remote work during the day and lounge/ speakeasy vibes at night. Highly recommend staying here!

Yelp
The Ace Hotel in Brooklyn is awesome. Having been to their Palm Springs property, I only expected the same party vibe. They did not disappoint. The ACE Hotel brand is second to none. I just want them to expand their footprint ASAP!

Yelp
Favorite hotel in downtown Brooklyn. Staff is great, wry accommodating. Attached restaurant and coffee bar is OK

Yelp
I had to find a hotel at the last minute as my return flight was canceled. I had no idea where to go, many hotels were sold out, and finally came across Ace. Upon my arrival, I was greeted and checked-in by a friendly gentleman. Overall, the hotel feels very vibrant, with an eclectic clientele. Our room was on the small size yet very well appointed with lots and lots of cute amenities. My daughter loved the the record player ! It was her birthday, which we had to spend separated from her family and the front desk team were very nice at wishing her a happy birthday. They drew a birthday card and gave her small snack. The lounge area was great, and the restaurant next door was fantastic. This was my first time ever visiting Brooklyn and I can say that the Ace Hotel made my unplanned, unexpected stay fantastic !

Ginger S.

Yelp
Overall, our stay was very nice. The only disappointment was that we booked a Medium Skyline View Room, which comes at a higher cost, and had absolutely no view of the skyline. The hotel staff are offered no compensation and in fact confirmed that their rooms from the 10th to 13th floors are considered Skyline View rooms and may or may not actually offer a view of the skyline. Quite misleading, so be sure to ask in advance should you have your heart set on a city view, rather than a view of an apartment building, which was the case for us (see pics).
google avatar

Izzy W.

Yelp
This place is so beautiful. I've gone here to work from a space that isn't my home (I work remote). It's absolutely beautiful, large, amazing colorful mosaic bathrooms, a place to grab a quick bite. An assortment of lounge options from couch's, tables, chairs, stools and so on.
google avatar

Omar R.

Yelp
This place is absolutely awesome! It's in a great location. The staff is fantastic and the rooms are great, very modern and hip. They have a nice restaurant/bar with a solid menu selection. Wait until the word gets out and people start booking it.

Clint K.

Yelp
What a great experience. Fun, quirky rooms. Great lobby with fun energy and vibe. Super friendly and attentive staff. Every interaction I had left me feeling welcomed and special. Will return !!

Steven A.

Yelp
The Ace Hotel is quite new . The rooms are spacious and comfortable . There is a fridge and bar in each room but , as in most hotels, whatever you take from the bar will be costly. There is a restaurant which only serves dinner. My only criticism is that there is no coffee in the room so you have to leave the premises to get any . There is a bakery/coffee shop in the building but no other choices within several blocks .

Sally N.

Yelp
If you like to experience snotty attitude from the front desk, look no further. If you want to get a room in which the light in the entrance hall, and the main ceiling light over the bed don't turn on, and the lights in the bathroom flicker, look no further. Asking them to fix them was useless, not only nothing was done, but no one explained why they could not take care of it. Try getting ready for a wedding, doing your make up, putting contact lenses on, working on your hair, with very little lighting. Great experience. And since I am in such a bright mood, for the price, it would be nice to have a shower cap available. Needless to say, we won't be back.

Darrin R.

Yelp
Popped in on my walk this is a ace hotel brand did not know they were here. They are still getting their sea legs but amazing service warm and comfortable
