The Local Review - West End - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Located alongside Centennial Park (you know, where the fake Parthenon is), The Local feels like a honky-tonk for those in the know. Small inside but with a decent outdoor patio, the bar has a listening room feel with all the trappings of a good dive—including a stuffed beaver wearing sunglasses and a statue in a hotdog suit (we don’t know, either). As unserious as its decor is, the music coming from its corner stage is top-tier. Depending on the night of the week, you can catch everything from songwriter rounds to full bands. And in a time where it’s common to pay an arm and a leg for a tiny “artisanal” burger without any sides, the Local rejects that concept wholeheartedly. Just order a G-OFF: you’ll get a big patty served on soft buns with candied bacon and jalapeños, plus a healthy helping of fries." - Bailey Freeman

Google
This is the perfect type of neighborhood spot! Delicious food, simple and comfortable atmosphere, and reasonable price tag considering all of the above. We tried out brunch and can't wait to try more things soon.

Google
Really cute place - nice atmosphere. Our waitress was lovely. Very friendly and eager to answer our questions and recommend drinks. Check on us frequently but not over bearing, which is great. I was a bit disappointed in the grain bowl. It was cold and was lacking in volume. My Fathers salad was good as was the beer but holy smokes the prices are not matching the quality. If they can get their food up to par, they’d be golden.

Google
I really loved my dinner at The Local! The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The mac bites were SO GOOD. I love that they have a small menu bc it makes deciding easier but also bc I know they have a better chance of being successful as a new restaurant! The atmosphere and vibes are on point too. Can’t wait to try their brunch!

Google
We’ve only been for brunch a couple of times, but both visits were excellent. Food was sooo good.. phenomenal homemade biscuits and sausage gravy, the bacon was something dreams are made of and the coffee just kept on coming. Mimosas looked plentiful at our neighboring table. Great service, will be back!

Google
This is our second time here and it’s just as good as the first. The food is absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is so lovely, so many sweet details. They have little writing toys to keep our young kiddos occupied. Highly recommend and is officially on our regular rotation! The food was too good to stop and take a picture, so here are the crumbs haha

Google
Very nice establishment. Stopped in for lunch. Had the sweet potatoes hummus and grilled salmon. Service was great and very friendly. Food was spot on. Exactly on point for a place named the local. Approachable. Delicious. Not too much. Nothing I’m giving a Michelin star, but left feeling satisfied with taste buds a buzzing. Only minor complaint is it was a cold day and a little chilly inside. You picture a local as being warm and cozy. They had a fire on the TV. And speaking of props for not unnecessarily showing whatever chive or mindless programming on the TV. It’s there if there is a special game but otherwise the atmosphere is much better with nothing on.

Google
Finally made it to over to the new restaurant. Great vibe, friendly staff and excellent food. Mimosa and lemon ricotta pancakes pictured… I’ll be back for sure! Biscuits were light and flaky. Highly recommend.

This is a nice change of pace from the food that is usually available around in this parts. I’ve been living in Shady hollow for the past 15 years and it’s nice to get something new besides the usual suspects. I got the steak and eggs and everything was cooked to perfect temperature, but I would suggest to the cook in the put salt and pepper on the steak when cooking it. It was kind of flat in flavor. Also, the sauce that came with the steak and eggs is not good. Nobody wants sweet sauce with their steak. It tasted like thousand island dressing with worcester sauce added into it. This is Texas do not be afraid of salt and pepper when seasoning, your meat. Maybe try a chimichurri sauce or a peppercorn sauce with the steak.

Yelp
We love this little neighborhood gem. We've been by for happy hour twice and another time for late night drinks on another occasion. We even dropped by for brunch another time. We have been more than happy each time! The staff is incredibly friendly and the music selection is on point. I feel like I've been transported back in time to the late 80s (in a good way) with the decor and vibe. I can't quite pinpoint what it is, but you should go see for yourself. You won't be disappointed! The bartender recognized us the second time we were there (several weeks apart) and made great conversation. The cocktails are delish and the food is so good! The food menu is relatively small but it just warmed my heart...and belly. I don't know who remembers the Monte Cristo sandwich from Bennigan's but I feel like I have been chasing that sandwich since high school. As a man in his mid-40s, I felt like a kid again (but without the metabolism). The sandwich was rich, yet well balanced. You could taste every individual ingredient in each bite and I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Eh nothing special about the food or the atmosphere. It's all as generic as the name. But I think that's the point.

Yelp
I have seen signs regarding this place and have been trying to make it here. I received some gift cards from a silent auction and today seemed like the perfect day to go. We looked at the menu earlier, so we had an idea of what to get. When we walked in and were greeted as soon as we came in. We got a small booth that was really cute. I ordered the BLT and my daughter ordered the Turkey Club. We were given the option of either greens or fries and we chose fries. While looking at the menu we didn't see any non-alcoholic drinks but when we asked our waiter, he informed us they had coke fountain drinks and main root. After ordering our food it came out quite fast and they gave us our food on different places. I felt like it was the theme of the restaurant, but my daughter was complaining to me about how the plates didn't match each other and apparently it bothered her. IDK why as she was complaining since she was not paying for any of our food. It wasn't crowded but I don't know if it was because it was a Tuesday night around 6P. It wasn't loud other than the 2 men at the bar talking loudly but we were also on Duolingo learning Greek, so it was fine. We will probably stop by again in the future.

Yelp
We ate here for dinner tonight and enjoyed it. We were able to get seated immediately and without a reservation, which was nice. My fiancé enjoyed her cosmopolitan drink. We shared the Hatch Mac Bites as an appetizer as well as the Sweet Potato Hummus. The Mac bites were just alright and the Sweet Potato Hummus was solid. For the entrees, the cottage pie was good and I enjoyed my turkey club as well. I just wish I asked for no mustard on it, but aside that it was very good. Last, the cheesecake made for a nice dessert. Overall, we had a good experience and we would come back!

Yelp
I tried The Local out for brunch to mix things up in the area. The service was friendly, and the vibe was modern diner at a fair price. I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich, which was tasty but a bit heavy and sweet for my liking. Adding a salad or fresh greens on top could balance it out nicely. I was disappointed they didn't offer cold brew or iced coffee, but the biscuit basket stole the show with its flaky, savory goodness served with butter and jam. While it may not become my regular spot, I'd consider returning for happy hour or to explore their dinner options.

Yelp
Tucked in a small shopping center sits The Local with its super cute charm with excellent cocktails, a banging breakfast, and the super nicest and fast service. Even the lighting here is gorgeous here and so subtle from their vintage lighting fixtures. The seating, specifically the booths, are my favorite place to sit and hang out in. This spot reminds me of being at my grandparents house and just feeling welcomed and like I am at home. It just has that charm. After coming in for a couple of breakfasts now I feel confident in highly recommending this spot to bring or meet up with family and/or friends here. They have a large area, in the back, for large groups so I wouldn't worry about worrying if there is enough seating for your hangs. The breakfast selection is small but mighty! Their raspberry preserves for their biscuits are probably my favorite thing about their breakfast menu but that is barely scratching the surface on what they offer here. Their lemon ricotta pancakes look out of this world!!!! I always end up being basic and ordering their Good Day breakfast option that comes with 2 eggs, bacon, biscuit & that raspberry preserve I love, and a small bowl of local fruits. The entire aesthetic of The Local is why I keep coming back. From the fresh flowers at each table to the delicious and gorgeous cocktails made at the bar it is all worth coming in and checking it out day or night.

Yelp
Reviewing after first visit. New place near my neck of the woods. We walked in and we're told that they currently had a happy hour that was about to end so we got some items from the HH menu. I tried the cosmo and the hubs tried a Negroni. Both were good. We weren't hungry so we got a couple of the apps on the HH menu. The sweet potato humus and the fried hatch max and cheese. Both were tasty. The service was great too. Our bartender was very pleasant and fast! So glad we gave this place a try we will be back to sample more:) see pics

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
The fish and chips are great! I'm English and have a hard time finding good fish and chips. Shame they are not serving Shepards pie at the moment. It's on the menu. Need to bring that back

Yelp
The local is literally my local. 1 mile away is a place I can come in for a drink, chat and bite. Could not be happier. Be it Matthew or Joey at the bar, Sarah or Ben in the dining space, Nate walking around, everyone is super friendly and welcoming. Over multiple visits have enjoyed salads, grilled cheese, friends have had turkey club... everything has been great. fries are super crispy and thin (my fave). Cheesecake was light and airy, another winner. Now if the wine list could expand to a few more choices, an espresso machine and extended hours it would probably be my home away from home :D

Theresa H.

Yelp
Great staff. Joey is friendly, attentive. He took great care of us . The food is fresh and hot. The place is clean, well lit with great music. Will be back to try more menu items.

Yelp
The food is tasty, staff is friendly and helpful. This is a good spot for brunch in south austin

Yelp
Great location, good service and ambiance, great pricing but the food was just okay. The queso was good but more or less just Kerby queso. The hatch chili is just fried Mac and cheese but had almost 0 flavor. Salmon was good though maybe a bit overcooked. Good portion though. Herbed fries are just thin fries with the tiniest sprinkle or herb, can't taste herb. Also got the fish sandwich. Large piece of fried cod. Fried very well.

Yelp
Such a great experience at The Local!! This side of town has been needing a neighborhood restaurant/bar with ambiance like this. The service was amazing - we had the sweetest server who was very knowledgeable about the menu and vision of the restaurant. Our table started with the Hatch Mac bites which were super yummy. From here, our table ordered burgers, fish and chips, and the Monte Cristo! We all loved our dishes - some of the best fish and chips I've had in town! Everything here feels very intentional. There are many items on the menu I can't wait to go back and try.

Yelp
We came in on Friday evening at 6:45 and we're greeted by a smiling hostess who seated us promptly. I ordered a "You're on a Pip" cocktail which was slightly lemony and delicious (I had two). Hubby had the "No Calvary" scotch drink which was like a Manhattan and he enjoyed it. For dinner. Holly served me the Flying Dutchman cod sandwich with leafy greens. The sandwich was crispy fish on a soft bun and very good. The greens were lightly dressed with a vinaigrette. Hubby had the Grilled Cheese which had cheese on the outside as well as the inside with a bit of roasted tomato on the inside- yum. The fries were absolutely delicious - crispy and hot. We were delighted with this new place and the owner said they were happy to be in the neighborhood. The plan is to offer happy hour from 3-5 and 8-close when they get up and running. Can't wait for that and think we'll be regulars!

Yelp
Welcome to our neighborhood. So glad you're here. First time to visit. Very nice setting. Both my wife and my wife and I both ordered the steak frites medium. The meat was cooked as order but it was very tough. I'm willing to pay a few dollars more for a more tender cut of beef. The fries were delicious. The pepper sauce was good but needed more peppers. The service was excellent. We shall be back and try their breakfast menu soon.
google avatar

Pamela R.

Yelp
Great service, great food, nice ambiance but seating is very hard. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5, is that the bowl dishes, both of which were delicious (salmon & chicken) we ordered were in small diameter, tall plastic bowls. Very difficult to eat out of. Unable to stir ingredients or get to the bottom without food flying onto the table. Also, really cheap plastic, more like cereal bowl type, for this above average food! A more shallow, oval, ceramic bowl would better suit the level of food being served here, aesthetics and functionality! Have to say though, the food is very tasty and well seasoned!
google avatar

Yelp
So glad I finally stopped it! The atmosphere is so chill- almost New Orleans French quarter bistro-esque. Food was perfectly proportioned. Biscuits & honey butter were fantastic! As good as I've had anywhere!! Their open faced biscuit w queso sausage gravy & eggs was delicious! Def add the avocado slices- I'm not sure why this made it such an extra tasty treat but it did! The sliced fruit was of exceptional quality! Staff was fantastic- shout out to Kyle! He was attentive and so kind! We def will be back -and often!
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
Excellent happy hour! All the classic cocktails are $5 and the ones we had were solid! It's not often that I actually enjoy a happy hour Manhattan and this one was good. We tried the macaroni bites and they were really good. Very flavorful and for a fried appetizer, they were surprisingly light. We also tried the sweet potato hummus and this one was a miss for us. It was very heavy and very sweet potato forward. Not much else came through flavor wise. Our server and the rest of the staff was very friendly. We will back next time we are in Austin.

Yelp
We were looking for an antidote to a gray, rainy day in Austin and found it at The Local! We came for breakfast, right after they opened in the morning. The house made sausage is outstanding!-a must try! My wife said the toast was fresh and flavorful! The biscuits are another must try! The mimosas caught our eye - and will look to order some next time! The atmosphere is warm and cozy - and the service provided was friendly and genuine! Love this new restaurant in Southwest Austin!! We will be back!

Yelp
The Local is a new restaurant to the Shady Hollow/Cherry Creek neighborhood in SW Austin. They opened in late October 2023 and are located nearest to Juiceland in the same strip (Shady Hollow Village) as Mail & More, Tino's Greek and Twin Liquors (not far from Randall's). My wife Rachel and I stopped in here on a cold winter night hoping for some food and some quality time on our Date Nite. I was made aware of The Local coming to our 'hood, thanks to the Community Impact. Frankly speaking, I had expected it to be a bar with food - like a Vincent's or Brick's Pub (Thankfully, it is NOT!!). The night we stopped in, we were met by Nate (one of the Owners) who promptly seated us. My first impression of The Local was a pleasant surprise, as it is a family (and friends) focused restaurant (or bistro if you prefer) that happens to have a nice, full bar (with beers on tap). I REALLY liked the vibe here, as this space seemed to be intentionally designed for comfort (and not just velocity). My fave elements were 1.) the high-backed booths that were super comfy and provided privacy, 2.) nice, chill, background music, 3.) ambient lighting, 4.) dividers between the booths and bar area that helped define the spaces between the booths, dining room and bar area, 5.) a nice mixture of materials that included lots of wood and muted colors, 6.) No TVs (since it's not a loud sportsbar). Our server Tiff was amazing, checking back frequently and refilling our waters on several occasions. Rachel had the Grain Bowl with Steak (added) which she loved. I had a Turkey Club (it was great, nice portion!) and a side salad. The maple dijon vinaigrette dressing on the side salad was wonderfully light, yet flavorful. All in all, it was a great experience, and the chill vibe was just what we needed. When we chatted Nate after our meal, we learned that he and his wife, Tiff (co-owner, who waited on us) had actually studied what was missing in this part of town and intentionally set out to deliver this specific experience. We also learned that THEY are in fact local, living off of south Brodie, south of Shady Hollow. For those of us who like to shop local and supporting our neighbors, The Local gets a hearty recommendation from us. You should check 'em out too!

Yelp
Very friendly service and cute environment. Mac and cheese balls were ok and cosmo was quite strong. Really enjoyed the fries and the steak was tasty! Nice local spot for a casual date night.

Yelp
I think this is the best place to grab a craft cocktail or glass of wine and a bite in the area. Will definitely be one of my new staples. This spot just opened up a few months ago, it's really sweet and cute inside. They have a stellar happy hour from 3-5pm, we came in on a Wednesday and the bar was packed! We weren't starving, but we tried the hatch mac bite, herbed fries, and the leafy green salad. Everything was excellent, I'm eager to check out their brunch. There's also plenty of parking available in the lot FYI!

Yelp
I stopped in for a hamburger with candied bacon and herb fries... outstanding!! I would highly recommend this place as a local drop-in spot. Service was excellent; food was well priced & delicious. Thank you!!
google avatar

Stephanie W.

Yelp
This place is cute. I definitely thought it would be more modern inside, but it's actually kinda a retro vibe (eg when I went there were a solid handful of older folks/retirees getting lunch). I didn't even remember it was here until I was looking for a lunch place in south Austin and saw it on the map. The food is good, it didn't absolutely blow my mind but I definitely enjoyed it! I had the cottage pie (kind of like shepherd's pie) for $18 and my mom had the strawberry salad for $14 which was fresh and good as well. The portion sizes were reasonable; my mom's salad was large and my shepherd's pie was smaller but dense. I left feeling fairly "neutral" (was VERY hungry beforehand). Our server and the hostess were very sweet and attentive as well. Overall I was hoping to get brunch here but they only serve brunch from 8-11 on weekdays and 8-2 on weekends - I came on Tuesday at noon. But despite the fact that I got lunch instead of brunch, I was satisfied. Will come back some time to try brunch!
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
My husband and I popped in for a late Sunday brunch and had the BEST time. Not only is the restaurant/bar area cute, the food is amazing. The biscuits are the best I've ever had in my entire life . We got the biscuit basket to start (DO recommend) and I had the good day breakfast (which included another biscuit ) and hubs had the biscuit sandwich. So delicious! The service was a little slow but it was a pretty busy day. And it wasn't bad enough to deter us. In fact, we're probably going to check out their happy hour next.
google avatar

Megan S.

Yelp
So glad we finally have a lighter but delicious place in south Austin! Dropped by here randomly for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. They have been here about a month now it sounds like. Staff is super friendly and welcoming, lots of parking since it's in the little strip mall on Brodie. Space itself feels beautiful, open, and almost like a diner. They have a bar and lots of table seating. We ordered the quinoa bowl and fish and chips - everyone was happy with their food! I loved the flavors of the quinoa bowl, especially the sprouts and cauliflower. We will definitely be back given they told us there's a Sunday brunch all day with $5 mimosas and French toast biscuits!
google avatar

Irisa D.

Yelp
Solid "local" spot for brunch, lunch or dinner. Service was fast, friendly and informative. I like the separation from the bar and main dining area too. Great use of space to give that diner feel with a cocktail lounge twist. The drinks were fantastic and our meals were well cooked and seasoned too. I'm definitely looking forward to coming back again and making this a regular spot for a quick bite or happy hour. The queso was a bit on the thick side with a lot of pico for my liking, but still yummy. The Flying Dutchman was a great portion of fish. It was a little hard to eat with the tomato and tartar sauce but sometimes eating a good meal isn't always pretty. The steak frites was cooked to a true medium rare which my husband loved. The fries are seriously super tasty and hard to stop eating even after you are full. We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.
google avatar

Valerie W.

Yelp
Had such a nice lunch experience today at The Local. I first walked in and was taken aback at how nice it is inside. I was coming in from after a yoga class and was famished. The server let us choose our table and quickly seated us. The menu isn't huge BUT it has a little bit of everything. I was torn between ordering the strawberry fields salad and the The Local burger. (I think that was the name.) I went for the burger and fries and they were delicious! Portions were ample and the fries were seasoned perfectly. The gentlemen that brought our food to our table was polite and nice, we asked about the restaurant and when it opened. We learned that he and his wife are local owners and that this place is fairly new. I wish them a lot of success, I love to see local businesses thrive! I did want to mention they have a fully stocked bar and a nice cocktail menu. We didn't drink alcohol today but I will likely check out their happy hour soon.

John M.

Yelp
This is our new favorite locally owned restaurant. We have never been disappointed for any food or cocktail we ordered. We have tried several different menu items. The staff are very friendly and love having conversations and recommendations of menu items. We will definitely return.

Yelp
Lunch was top of mind and I was on the lookout for a new place to eat. I took a detour to The Local. Hard to catch from Brodie Lane, nestled between Tru Dentistry and JuiceLand, is a new and fresh spot, with friendly staff and a laid back atmosphere. I entered and was immediately greeted by the owner, adorning a server apron and smiling, with a handshake and exchange of names. First for me, and felt very welcomed. Just myself, I took a seat and looked at the one pager menu. I like simple menus. There are a few things that I must try Always when I see it on the menu, no matter what. In this moment it was the Monte Cristo. If any place is worth there salt, it's a good and proper Monte Cristo and The Local delivered. Also know as Croque-Monsieur or Croque Madame, originating from France and popularized in California, it is a sandwich that is the essence of comfort food. Served perfectly was the custardy bread stuffed with sweet ham, gooey velvety Gruyère cheese, and layered with a berry jam. I'd like my berry jam as a side and slathering it onto each bite, but The Locals all-in-one is nothing to complain about. The best part was the crispy custard bread, dusted with confectionery sugar. Plated in a way to keep hostage of the hot and tender crispy French fries is perfect. The service was great, albeit it wasn't busy. Many asks of how is everything, more tea refill, anything I can do's were amassed. I definitely will head back here for luck with some co-workers and maybe dinner with the family if I'm ever down south.

Tina E.

Yelp
Excellent food, nice atmosphere, and friendly staff! It's a cute little gem. Highly recommend the Monte crisco.
google avatar

Yelp
The cutest little spot in south Austin! Loved the vibe here. Very comfortable with a great bar. $5 mimosas and bloody Mary's for brunch. The staff is amazing. Will definitely come back.
google avatar

Aaron D.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the food and will definitely be back! Had the steak and frites and the artichoke dip and both were very good.
google avatar

Baneen N.

Yelp
Cute place with a decent amount of seating. They have a little corner where they said they put families with kids because there's more space there. Food was decent. My chilaquiles were flavorful. The biscuits were buttery, but my husband felt they tasted like biscuits out of a can. Servers were all super kind and attentive. No changing tables in the restrooms.

Sherry C.

Yelp
Sunday brunch 6/2/24 I have eaten several meals at the Local and the food has been great..until Sunday brunch .. breakfast was a disappointment.. Ordered the biscuits and gravy ..the biscuits were soaked in gravy. Ordered the pancakes and they were soaked in syrup/fruit jam. The presentation and quality of the food was poor. I will not be returning for breakfast again.
google avatar

Adrea P.

Yelp
I'm updating my review to 4 stars instead of 3 because the breakfast is delicious. The bacon and biscuits stand out.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot. Got steak and eggs for breakfast. Super tasty. Love having a quality breakfast spot in this area. Long overdue.

Yelp
We went this evening. Service and food was great. I believe our server was named Kyle. We had a party of 8. We had a couple of appetizers with cocktails, and then dinner we had six different dishes between the eight of us and everyone said it was very good.We will be back for sure.

Lynda W.

Yelp
It was supposed to be fish and chips, but was actually fish and fries. The batter on the fish was soggy and the fries were so over-seasoned that they were inedible. What a huge disappointment.

Sara G.

Yelp
From the warm welcome from Nate to the perfect cocktail concoctions from Kevan, this place has been needed in our neighborhood forever. We have now visited three times and the food is consistently good. We've had the Local Dip, the ATX burger, fish and chips, and the steak frites. Everything is delicious! I think I'm a little partial to the steak frites (omg, the au poivre sauce is to die for!). We always sit at the bar because the barstools are so comfortable but they have wonderful high back booths and banquettes. We have only been here for dinner, but they are open for breakfast lunch and dinner. If you haven't tried them, you're missing out.
google avatar

Nadine R.

Yelp
Loved this place, great vibe and decor! The drinks are right out of the roaring 20's. We only got an appetizer, the local dip, but it was awesome and the menu looks like I want to try everything! Avery was a great bartender, we will definitely be back again.
google avatar

Lina J.

Yelp
I really hope that this new local restaurant does well and becomes a hangout spot for our family and neighbors, but I'm not sure if this one will. I realize they might be experiencing growing pains because they aren't ready for large audiences yet. Perhaps they need more employees, fewer seats, greater training, etc. Something isn't operating properly. The food was just mediocre. Took forever to get a beer, at least 30-40mins. Tried appetizers and main dishes, was just ok. Grain Bowl - I laughed at its size vs price. The bowl was nearly empty. My husband tried a salad with the most overcooked dry salmon. People were waiting for their drinks and food for way too long, so the staff were trying to manage the situation by offering complimentary desserts. The piece of cheesecake was good. Overall, nothing to make me want to go back. Maybe will wait another month, and then give them another try.
google avatar

Dillar S.

Yelp
78748 hot spot! We love The Local for brunch, lunch, and dinner! Great menu, amazing drinks, and awesome service. This is the new family friendly restaurant in South Austin and it's amazing! We love The Local Dip, Fish and Chips, and salads!

Raele O.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. Off to a good start, it's clear they really care and intend to continue improving. One of the owners came by our table; she was a great listener, making sure everything was satisfactory. She promised to try to put a veggie burger/sandwich of some on the menu. I would say it's not quite ready for vegan diners to go right now, but you can get by as a vegetarian. There is a vegan bowl, but it is missing an overt protein, like tofu or tempeh, to help it be as filling as an entrée for a meat eater. I'm confident they will see to that (She said so). My husband had the fish & chips, said they were solid. I'm thankful a place like this has finally arrived in our neighborhood, and I hope to continue supporting them!

Yelp
Fun little neighborhood place. The server was great, but once it started to fill up, our food took 45 minutes to come out. Thankfully, we had the Strawberry salad, which was a good portion and flavor, though there were too many onions for my taste. Cottage Pie with Sweet Potato Pie and Fish and Chips

Yolanda R.

Yelp
I visited The Local on June 2nd for brunch The food was tasty, hot and the service was GREAT! This was my first visit for brunch on a weekend. In the past I normally come on Friday evening food is always deliciously hats off to the kitchen. Staff on Friday's is normally busy however the staff is always smiling and pleasant. The drinks from the bar are made to perfection Founders Cocktail is my favorite drink.

Yelp
Y'all, don't sleep on this place!! The owner (or who I assume is the owner) is so nice.. and the food is AMAZING. I usually frequent this place for brunch, but they have really good lunch/dinner options, as well. I love their Monte Cristo sandwich, their French toast, the bacon (they cook it in brown sugar).. well just about everything. We NEVER have to wait for a table for brunch on weekends, which is a big plus!! Prices are excellent. You really couldn't' ask for more.

Yelp
Usually I take my son to Juiceland, but we were extra hungry today, so we decided to stop into the restaurant next door. We're definitely glad we did. It was quaint, bright and had comfortable seating. Kid friendly, even though it has a bar on the other side of the restaurant. We ordered the Fish 'n Chips and it was super tasty. Loved the tarter sauce and the malt vinegar. The only thing we wish, is that the plate came with a small portion, of coleslaw too like a traditional Fish 'n chip plate. Food for thought. We just moved into the area. Literally a 2 minute drive away, so I'll definitely bring my spouse and other son too. Question, do y'all have a high chair too? I do want to say, I was impressed with the portion size and quality of the food, as well as the atmosphere. It was nice to go into a restaurant and have old school music playing, and it not be too loud, so we could actually talk. One more thing to mention, our server was super sweet and the food came out fast, which is a good thing when you have young ones. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
This is my second time coming here for lunch. I had burgers recently then I had fish and chips today. Both times the servers were friendly and know the menu very well since this restaurant opened a month ago. That's impressive! Oh meals were very tasty and delicious. I ordered an Irish Coffee and it was purrfect like I had few times at SF famous Buena Vista coffee shop years ago. I appreciate the opportunity to visit this local place I mean I live locally here too. That's neat. Thanks for choosing here to serve us!
