13 Cooperatively-Owned Restaurants, Bakeries, and Markets in the Bay Area | Eater SF

"The 10-year-old butcher Berkeley shop transitioned to a worker-owned co-op in the middle of the pandemic in 2021, although the idea didn’t come out of nowhere; they’d been planning the change for about two years. The local meat shop sells locally-sourced and sustainably raised cuts, made-in-house sausages, meat broths, meatballs, and more. They also hold classes so you can learn how to make your own sausage and butcher a chicken." - Momo Chang

How to Freeze and Defrost Meat | Eater

"Co-owner Aaron Rocchino stresses that freezing will preserve meat quality if it’s stored properly, but it doesn’t reset expiration—aim to use most steaks and chops within about six months (no later than nine) for optimal taste, chicken nearer a year, and ground meat within three to four months. He warns against rapid defrosting methods and recommends slow defrosting in the refrigerator to protect texture and food safety, and highlights that smaller butcher shops can offer steadier supplies and custom butchering—even if they sometimes cost more." - Elazar Sontag

Very pricey but never had such a delicious piece of beef liver. One of the most nutritious parts of a meat. Everything is very fancy and neatly decorated. They have fridge with various items like duck stock, chicken, dog food, eggs, etc. Straight from the farm🐮

Google
This boutique local butcher is a great spot to go when you need that special grass-fed, marble piece of meat from a particular reason or Farm, or when you need an old-school kind of something like guanciale, to make some real Italian pasta, the butcher's there are knowledgeable, friendly, and what is under the glass, changes with the season, whatever the season, ask him a few questions and you'll get an education in the new paradigm of Butchery, in a more sustainable way. Also, they had some head cheese, which I figured must be high quality since it was there, and I had the first taste of had cheese that I've had in 45 years, having had a traumatic experience with head cheese back in the day, when I was forced to eat it regularly. One bite of this newfangled head cheese swept all those memories away, it was anxious and delicious, and has me reconsidering my life choices. Highly recommended.

This is a great place to buy meat (if you like that). Their cuts of meats are beautifully displayed. Besides beef and chicken, they carry things like Butchers Hash, and West Coast Scrapple. They also have duck. I noticed they have wool sponges (I have never seen them before). They carry onions and garlic. They also have books about meat. One of the best things is they have butchers that can cut a piece of meat for you, and most markets these days don't have that kind of service. Also, they have free bay leaves.

Google
The customer service is great, the packaging is elegant, the shrink wrap is well sealed & the flavor of the meat is truly as it says on the box: USDA Prime. We got the beef variety box and it will be making lots of meals for us, and I would suggest getting it as a gift for a family as it is not only tasteful, but so tasty!

Google
Good people and good meat. u can get ome veggies from them too. Postin pic's of their pandemic rules for u, was not crowded, on turkey day they had a band outside to keep all cutomers happy

Google
Expensive and high quality. Staff know their stuff, and you can get whole cuts of meat to portion at home. The butcher table is right in the middle of this small shop, nothing to hide and proud.

Google
What an awesome shop! I was looking all over for a cut of pork that was not smoked and they had it fresh. The quality of the meat and customer service was fantastic. I will be back!

Google
Bottom line: DO NOT sign up for their classes. I first signed up for an April class ~3 months in advance, making plans around it because I assumed it would happen. Less than 3 days in advance, they sent a cancellation email and offered to reschedule or sign me up for another class. I signed up for another class, again planning around it, and yet again they cancelled with less than 3 days notice. The shop has great food-I've been going there for years when I've wanted high-quality meats. But the fact that they've wasted so much of my time and in both instances have only offered to refund the ticket (a discount, or *anything* to acknowledge the inconvenience), makes it feel like they don't care at all about me as a customer.

Yelp
Hands. Down. Amazing customer service and fresh cuts of meat I need a special order of liver and ground beef mixed and they deliver hands down. Also offered the service to call ahead for pick up. I will def return worth the trip.

Yelp
I don't hang out in this part of Berkeley like I used to. Now that my favorite pate place has closed, I've been coming here. It's not as good, but it works. And what they have is better than what you can find in the stores. It's nice and they've expanded. They have soaps, spices, and some storemade pickles. I asked for a bar of soap and the guy at the counter suggested told me there were samples so I took one. I'm glad I did. Beef tallow isn't very lathery and while I don't mind (I used to make homemade soaps and am aware that different oils have different lather properties). I'm glad that he made the offer. I like the old timey vibe and it's a touch more (gourmet ghetto - so not very) diverse than it used to be. The people who work there are very nice and welcoming and I appreciate that. I don't buy meat in this area, but if I had to I'd trust it. BTW, I paid for two pates and was a bit worried that I was overcharged (the piece was very small and weighed more than I thought), so I weighed the pate on my scale at home and it was perfect. No overcharging.I appreciated that.

Yelp
A great little spot recommended by a local! I was up in Oakland/Berkeley for a few days, so I was able to to try out some near little spits like this one. I was told about their sandwiches, which are premade and only having one variety for the day, where that day it was roast beef. Everything was laid out in a grab and go manner, so I grabbed a sandwich and a root beer, and made my way. Service was great and friendly! The sandwich was excellent, with some nice and soft bread. The veggies were a great complement, with plenty of peppery arugula and peppers. They gave the right amount of meat, and it I thought it was high quality! This is a very lowkey spot that I's love to return to, perhaps for their other meats!

Yelp
Totally love this place. It is clean with a suprer friendly staff. I came in for the Liberty Duck which they butchered for me so that I could keep the head and feet seperate. They have all kinds of bones for stock and other little treats sprinkled around the store for you to find. I dond't eat a lot of meat but am a total fan girl of this place.

Yelp
Top notch meat and knowledgeable service. Will definitely go back for more. SF is not known for scrapple and these guys make their own. And super delicious. Worth the trip

Yelp
Beautiful butcher shop and friendly staff, but the price for pork is insane. My wife and I came in for pork loin. The butcher said he could de-bone it and trim the fat but we would be charged for the gross weight. Not a problem. He rang us up and the 3 lb. pork roast was over $100. $28/lb. for pork loin is outrageous. I can get prime ribeye for less. I was going to speak up but my wife was too embarrassed and gave me an elbow to the ribs. I like to support local businesses but I don't like to be gouged.

Yelp
I bought a 4 bone beef rib that was 10lbs. I smoked the ribs for 10 hours using almond wood. The ribs came out perfect and tasted wonderful. I seasoned the ribs with salt and black pepper only. I highly recommend purchasing meat from the Local Butcher Shop.

Yelp
Beautiful meats. Nice products like animal fats and stocks. Ethically and sustainably sourced, whole animal butchery. Friendly and well-dressed. Even have raw pet food which my cat loves. Sandwiches are bomb. Yes, it's pricy. That's not because they're ripping you off; that's because raising animals in healthful, ethical, non-factory farming environments where they get to walk in grass and feel the sun costs more. And so does paying farmers a living wage, instead of the terrible wages people get paid in industrial ag. This is what meat rightfully should cost. It hurts the wallet but not as much as buying meat from factory farmed animals hurts the conscience. I buy some of the cheaper products (chicken wings, lamb neck, pastured eggs, etc) and eat them sparingly. Good meat eaten sparingly is actually what is good for you and the planet. Don't skip the pet food if you have a cat or dog!

Yelp
Called yesterday and had questions about the dog food they make. Ryan was great and super nice and helpful. When i went in today he remembered our conversation. All the staff is nice and professional and they have a really good selection of just about everything. I even got this delicious cookie will be back for even more

Yelp
I am reminded of the old song: there's nothing like the real thing. The food I've had here makes me salivate for a real hamburger or a real steak. If I were a vegetarian I would give a different review.

Yelp
I continue to adore this shop. Now it is employee-owned, which makes it even more valuable to me. When I go in to order my ground lamb, they cut and grind it right on the spot and I love the Acme buns to eat my fresh burgers on too! Also just recently discovered the chicken liver mousse- awesomely delectable. We don't eat a lot of meat (but my blood type requires insane amount of daily protein) so when we do, this is our spot. Oh, and, yes, pay for this- the humane practices and northern Cal ranch families benefit accordingly.

Yelp
[ During Covid Review ] This is the place to go to if you are looking for a great selection of meats whether it be ground beef, sausages, chicken, tenderloin, pork etc. You want something specific, I bet you they will have it! Because of covid, they do limit the amount of people inside (3 maximum) and what I like is that they really do follow to these guidelines they established. While I was there, if they noticed there were more than 3 people inside, they would ask the customer who just entered if they could please wait outside until someone leaves. Another thing they implemented is that when you leave, they have you leave from the side door rather than the entrance. I really feel that they ensure the safety of their customers and follow all the guidelines in terms of covid. Like I said earlier, they have a great selection of meat and if you have no idea what you want or the type of meat you need, everyone there is knowledgeable that they will give you advice. They have sirloin tip, pork belly, ground beef, beef tenderloin, ribeye, new york, marrow bones, sausages, duck, chicken, etc...the list goes on! Not only do they serve a variety of meats, they have speciality spices/seasonings and grains that you can't find anywhere else. They have refrigerators that hold various bone broths you can buy, different meatballs, gravy, ready to bake chocolate chip cookies, beef gel bone packs, etc. You don't want to buy any meat, that's fine. They are also known for their sandwiches that are already made and you can just tell them you want a sandwich and they will ring you right up. Their sandwiches are always changing and that's because they craft a new type of sandwich each day, PLUS all their ingredients are house-made. You seriously can't go wrong with their sandwiches. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a certain type of meat that other grocery stores don't offer. While the prices of their meat can be a bit pricey, it is amazing quality and the employees are all very nice!

Yelp
I went to the website and saw haggis was for sale. Okay I'm late for Robert Burns birthday but I ordered two and this was my cart: The Local Butcher Shop CartNumber of items in your cart: 2 Cart price$60.00 Your Cart Continue shopping Product Price Quantity Total Haggis for Burns Night $19/lb - 3-4# in bung cap Haggis for Burns Night $19/lb - 3-4# in bung cap Size: 3-4# in bung cap Remove $30.00 2 $60.00 If this is a pick-up order, what day will you pick up your order? Subtotal $60.00 okay, $60 for 2 haggis. So I paid with my Am Express, got a confirmation e mail, even called and spoke to Caleb to confirm they still have haggis since it was past Robert Burn's BD and then sent my husband to pick it up. When he got there they were trying to charge him over double the $60. They claimed they didn't know what their website said. If this is what employee owned business is like, buyer beware. I wrote the company, 3 different people listed under one auto reply and got auto replies saying I am no longer there. Maybe the bookkeeper still is, I wrote that person also. I always thought this place was pretty expensive but this is worse than expensive, it was false advertising and bad business. I'll stick to Scottish Gourmet, they have the haggis business down pat. ************EDIT: Caleb contacted me and said I should have seen on their website that I was only making a $30 deposit per haggis. He is correct. However I had googled "Local Butcher Shop haggis" and was taken right to the order page which did not give out that information as you can see on the Copy I included of the order. The page I was on went into number of haggis and quoted $30 and then continued on to when did I want to pick up my order. Even in the confirmation e mail there was no mention that I had made a deposit ONLY. So technically Caleb is correct, I did not pour over their website before ordering to see the cost qualifier in the description of haggis. My conclusion is these are butchers, not web designers or business people or an on line customer oriented business and that their price for haggis is for very wealthy people who don't know that haggis is sold in gas stations and supermarkets in Scotland, not in fancy butcher shops. I thought $30 each was high but $75 for a 3 pound haggis was my mistake.

Yelp
The Local Butcher Shop has a great selection of local, fresh, and cured meats at a great price. But if you didn't know, they also offer a "Sando of the Day," which tastes amazing and offers a great introduction into the meats they offer. The sando is $12, and slightly on the smaller size for the price, but the quality of the meat and the great flavor profiles makes it a great deal.

Yelp
I ordered a haggis from Local Butcher for a Robert Burns Day (which we celebrated a wee bit early), as a foodie friend of mine recommended. Coming from San Francisco, it was a drive, and a wondered whether the trip would be worth it. It was. I spend several days in Edinbugh last year during which I tried some of the best haggis the city had to offer. The haggis from Local Butcher was comparable. The flavor was spot-on and texture was perfect, a good balance of meaty and grainy. As befit the day, we paired it with a series of Scotch whiskies, the best of which was a Talisker 10-year. Lagavulin would probably do well, too. I found the ordering process straightforward - I put in an order a week or so before (note: early ordering is important - I tried to order last year a couple days before Burns Day but was too late) and came to pick it up on Friday. They run an efficient and friendly operation in the shop and I was through in a just a couple minutes. I will do this again for sure.

Yelp
If you appreciate fresh meat, please come and support the local butcher shop. I love the name. It's simple and describes exactly what they do and who they are. The quality of meat is very good, but very pricey! Mostly that's because they hand cut all of their meat to order and fresh. If that's what you're looking for, then you need to come to this place. FOOD: pretty much any kind of meat you want they will likely have. And then some. They also have bone broth and soups and sauces and meatballs and tons of other things that go along with meat and meat products. They have a cute selection of cookbooks and even souvenirs. I know that's not food, but the food is excellent! You can also get a deli sandwich. SERVICE: Service is great! During Covid times, they are very strict about spacing people out because the area is not huge. Basically two customers at a time. But I appreciate that they look out for your safety. They are excellent service and will hand cut your meat depending on the size you want. They also have a huge selection of precut meats available in the case. And also some frozen products. Overall the service is wonderful. COST: this is the only reason this place does not at five stars. The cost is high! While the meat is definitely worth it, you can get equally good me for less money somewhere else. But I will still come in frequent this place because I believe in their values and I believe in supporting local business. I hope you will too because places like this that will cut me to order is very rare.

Yelp
The best butcher in the east bay. Service is outstanding - the guys behind the counter take the time to explain, answer questions about their produce in a friendly and unpatronizing way. Selection of meats and quality is superb. It's not cheap but definitely a 'you get what you pay for' kind of place.

Kym L.

Yelp
The chicken I got was so good!! The person who helped me was very helpful. I like to support local small businesses.

Yelp
Very disappointing butcher shop. Quality of the meat here was surprisingly not that great. Bought a prime rib but the meat was super tough. For Christmas I bought a prime rib from niku butcher in sf. This place obviously doesn't compare but even Costco has better quality of meat. I'll stick to niku, flannery, and fatted calf. Service here is great.
google avatar

Gina B.

Yelp
Incredible product and great customer service. Their staff is always helpful and accommodating if they don't have what I'm looking for. I also really like how all of them are very knowledgeable about different cuts and how they can influence a dish. Their dog treats are pricy but extremely high quality.

David J.

Yelp
Beware! This shop charged us $26.50 per pound for a pork butt that was about 30% fat after 9 ounces of fat were trimmed off at home. When I called to complain I was told that since they did not use mainstream suppliers their cuts would vary from animal to animal. Apparently we got one fat pig. Across the street, boneless pork butt was $7.95 per pound, and a lot better looking.
google avatar

Rich C.

Yelp
Solid sandwich of the day. You can taste the quality ingredients and it's great to have something made by hand. They also have unique offerings (loved seeing the drinks and meat options they had). The customer service wasn't exactly the best (felt pretty bro-ish), but that doesn't mean it was bad, just unique to themselves. I'm sure I just need to get acclimated. I love these local spots. I'd come back!

Anna S.

Yelp
Excellent sandwiches, thank you for your creativity and care.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a great place, and they really took the time for precautions inside their store. I ordered a rabbit 24 hours ahead of time, and they asked me how I wanted to have it cut. When I arrived, they had it ready, and they were extremely knowledgeable when o asked other questions about their meats. I'll definitely be back there, and highly recommend the rabbit!!
google avatar

Anita L.

Yelp
Delicious, fresh cuts of meat. They had a sandwich of the day when we came by which was some type of braised beef with some other seasonings and sauces. A quarter of a sandwich was enough to be a very filling snack. You can purchase stuff to take home, including seasoning and sauces, which we're super excited to try out. Even though this place is a butcher shop, the ambience is that of walking into a retail store with everything clean and nicely presented with friendly staff to answer any questions you might have. Two thumbs up for this place!
google avatar

Rich R.

Yelp
When I need specialty meats for our backyard smoking pit, The Local Butcher is frequently our purveyor.
google avatar

Irene L.

Yelp
So wowed by this store! The people were super friendly and very helpful. The spicy sausages were insanely delicious and the best I ever had. On another occasion I got meat for chicken fried steak and some bacon. Both were just perfect. Definitely try this place out if you're looking to support a small business and get fresh meats.
google avatar

Kenji X.

Yelp
I was honestly always afraid of this place because the prices are what the actual cost of real food is. The butcher I worked with was kind, helpful, and extremely talented. The meat was something I've never tasted before: fresh! I never knew that lamb didn't have to taste gamey!
google avatar

brianna t.

Yelp
I'm gonna start this off by saying that if I had known how ridiculously overpriced they were I would have never come here. The staff was nice and the place itself looked pretty clean. I came here for a pork shoulder.. that's all.. and walked out spending $200! I don't know about anyone else but I think that's pretty outrageous. I feel robbed.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
We were making lamb shanks, so I went there to get some. They sold me 1 huge lamb shank and it was tough and that's after being braised in the oven. We were looking forward to the meal as it was cooking, so it was a huge disappointment.

Yelp
WEIRD - YELP REMOVED my review for this place - but re-posting. from 7/2/17 Headed out to Berkeley to try this place. I forget where I saw it/found it - but my note said to try the daily sandwich - especially if it is ROAST BEEF. Well today was Jan. 2 and we had the day off - I looked at their site - they were open, yeah! - their sandwich was roast pork with broccoli rabe and fennel with "porchetta spice" I did't notice any porchetta spice, and I am glad I tried it - I would have liked MORE rabe, and more pork, would also have liked if the pork was crispy. My gold standard on this is Roli Roti - but that is like comparing every chicken sandwich to Bakesale Betty - you are never gonna beat them - so why try, and don't compare them. It was a fine sandwich - if I were in the hood, and it was roast beef - I would definitely go again, but I am so rarely in Berkeley, I doubt my chances

Yelp
I love the quality of the meats here and I even took an awesome poultry butchery class onsite during the before times, but this place is way too popular to be this small. I managed to snag one of their XS heritage turkeys for Thanksgiving and even having pre-scheduled the pickup I had to wait in a line for at least 2 hours to get inside and serviced. They give you their full attention and everything inside the shop is amazingly curated and of the best quality and worksmanship you can find. But if I have to fight a hoard every time I just need some breathing room to browse, it's extremely hard right now with required social distancing and I would much prefer a less congested trip to Berkeley Bowl for my meaty needs.

Yelp
Monica and Aaron's butcher shop has a variety of cuts that are all very high quality! Plus, all the butchers there are so helpful :). I recently bought some beef short ribs to braise for dinner and the compliments I received after were non-stop and positive! Yes, it depends on the recipe, but also good quality meat. I will definitely be a coming back!
google avatar

Yelp
Seriously the greatest customer service that I have personally witnessed in a long time. Kind and knowledgeable with a product that is equally exceptional. Thank you for fullfilling my requests with grace.

Yelp
Daily sandwiches are the best! Check their online menu for the sandwich of the day. I highly recommend calling them either the day of or an earlier day to have them hold a sandwich for you. I called on a Wednesday to have them hold a Saturday sandwich for me ;) They run out of sandwiches by 3pm usually. The staff is very friendly and energetic. It's very clean in the shop and they are very good about keeping people safe during covid times by limiting to approximately 3 people in the store at a time. I got nothing but love for this place!

Yelp
The Local Butcher Shop is Special. My son Jordan Cohen, who lives in Berkeley, is a Bar & Restaurant attorney & knows his food. (Plug! ) He & my daughter-in-law, also a lawyer, tuned me on to this shop just two weeks ago when they served Bratwurst & Onions for dinner. The brats, the best I ever tasted including those in Europe, were unbelievably delicious. I tend to talk a lot. Got there the first time just 10 minutes before they closed at 7:00 asking questions & telling the two counter people, actually more the fellow who waited on me, what brought me there all the way from Martinez. That I rushed down, driving 18 miles & just making it. Bought Brats, a couple of Italian Sausages, a probably pain-in-the-ass to slice 1/4 lb of Roast Beef, Pastrami & what turned out to be my favorite because it's difficult to find in the Bay Area, homemade Corned Beef. I've been here for 45 years from New York & Philly so I know my deli. Truth be told the Butcher Shop's Corned Beef isn't the fatty, thin sliced NY-style you get in good NY & Philly delis or Langers's, Brent's & Canters in LA. 'Jewish' delis all. You know what I mean. However it tastes great, fatty enough & is pretty good. The most delicious item I purchased was Chicken Liver Mousse that's to die for! Spread it on ak-mak crackers after I ate a few slices. Today I bought two of the Sandos of the Day, Roast Beef with lemon cucumbers & other toppings on a delicious soft roll. Heading back Wednesday for their Roast Pork Sando. They make one Sando a day. I shouldn't tell you this but it's no secret that Sandos are 1/2 price between 6:00 & 7:00 if there are any left. This Wednesday it's on a Muffaleta rather than the usual roll. You can call & ask if there are any left if you're heading over late. Great everything. Various pates, sausages, steaks & other meats, Roast Chickens 3 days a week. A bit pricy however I don't mean that in a negative way. Everything is shop-made. Not from a commercial wholesaler so worth every penny. Almost forgot. Bought a beef stick for a buck or two that was outrageous. The perfect snack!

Yelp
I finally got organized this year and ordered our holiday roast about a week in advance. What a difference a little planning makes! Today I went to pickup my order, I got to BYPASS the line in front (although with live jazz music playing, waiting on that line wouldn't have been so awful) and walk around to the tent in back where viola! I was the only customer in line! Immediate service; order was boxed up & ready to go. Could not have been easier. Thank you Local B Shop for being so organized!! I only wish I had thought to pickup some Demi glacé while there. I will have to do without. (Note to self for next year...)

Yelp
They're known for their meats/cuts, but I came here to try their sandwich of the day. They only have one sandwich per day and it rotates during the week. Today's sandwich was their roast beef (w/pickles, lettuce, tomato, pesto aioli, and provolone on an Acme roll). Sandwiches here are pre-made and are $11. We opted to share one sandwich between 2 people and it was just enough. The roast beef in the sandwich was A1 quality and you can tell why they're known for their meats. I enjoyed the nice chew of the bread as it held up well with the aioli and holding up the ingredients. Overall it was a solid sandwich and I would get it again. The shop is mainly a butcher shop so don't expect tons of seating. They have two 2-person tables outside on their grass and have water bowls for your dog as well. Aside from that be prepared to take it to go or enjoy on the median in North Berkeley.

Yelp
I can't believe I spent $30 on their roast chicken which was incredibly salty and lacked any spices. They must have brined it because salt pervaded to the center. Sometimes on a roast chicken the skin is wonderful but this was a rubbery. We didn't finish it. Expected way better than Safeway for that price and the store's reviews.

Yelp
Butcher shops are a lost trade. Even in-house butcher shops at grocery stores lack a sense of local neighborhood feel as well as high/fresh quality. When I walked into Local Butcher Shop, I instantly appreciated how clean and organized it was. The large chalkboards near the ceiling and explained different cuts of meat, and price per pound. Got a fresh, delicious, half of a chicken that was about 2 1/2 pounds for about 11 bucks. It cooked up perfectly. Great local meat. this is a full butcher shop. They also do bones, sausages, and cuts of all kinds of meat (even dog treats). Also have a large variety of (duck, chicken, and other) eggs. Usually have a "sandwich of the day." That's really the only "prepared" food they do. Mostly, everything else they sell is raw. People who work here really tie everything up nicely into a well-presented package and often offer helpful tips about how to cook or prepare foods.

Yelp
So... pouring rain today and understandably they only let 3 customers into their small shop at one time. However they have nowhere to stand outside protected from the rain. You guys knew winter was coming. Get a freaking canopy. Walked away today... might be back in spring. And no, I cannot afford the extra cost of delivery, and if I could I couldn't choose my own cuts of meat.

Yelp
A very yummy $9 sandwich, which was filling enough to be a complete meal. Proportion of roasted pork to rest: seemed like it was made on pantofolina...Bread too much for the delicate roasted flavors of the meat. Nice cabbagey slaw and a thin layer of some kind of spread underneath the meat. Pork itself was full of flavor, deep flavor....yummy. Yes, the sandwich can be pricey, but so often, I'm paying same price or even more, and those sammies lack the quality and subtle flavors that this place prepares. it's gourmet foodie sandwich here...but even for the money spent, I didn't feel ripped off...it was not small, and kept me quite full. Credit accepted for any purchase over $10.

Yelp
Amazing, amazing, amazing! I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of this company while he was trying to grow his business. He often let me sample products! Quickly enough my co-workers and I were setting up accounts with him to get the jerky, cassoulet, meatballs etc on a regular bases! Scott is the real deal. I have been working with food for 22 years and I genuinely tip my hat to him.

Yelp
Great selection of sausages and meats and very good quality ! My partner and I came here for hog casings since we decided to make our own sausages during the pandemic with all the free time on our hands! The stuff was very nice and knowledgeable about their products! Would definitely come here in the future!

Yelp
The staff are very friendly, helpful, and seem knowledgeable. However, once they told me the price of what I wanted I couldn't leave fast enough. Maybe their meat is worth it but the prices are insane. With a little searching (10 min) I found what I wanted at another shop almost half the price but I did have to drive a little.

Yelp
I am big on getting good quality meat from locally raised animals the right way. If i could have my own farm I would but this is the next closest thing. The customer service is really good and they are very helpful when it comes to cutting the meat to what you want. If you looking for a friend local butcher with high quality meats the Local Butcher-shop is the place to go. I have been going to them for years and I drive all the way to north Berkeley from oakland to get this meat.

Yelp
This place is awesome!! Came her for the first time on Saturday to get meats for a Father's Day BBQ not only was everything we got delicious the service here is fantastic. Aaron helped us with our big order and even offered to carry out the food to the car for me. I love finding local businesses to support and this one is one we will be back to for sure!
