The Lonesome Club

After reading several reviews about this place, I decided to stop in for brunch. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the bartender/server Micah, and I was seated immediately. Even though the place is small, it has a real charm to it. I ordered the cheeseburger, and it was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The fries were good, too, but a bit on the crispy side. The bartender makes a really good Bloody Mary as well to accompany my meal. They have a good food (brunch) and drinks menu and everything is priced reasonably. Since the weather is still warm, they also have seating outside. Overall, this restaurant is such a nice little addition to the Windsor Terrace neighborhood, and I look forward to dining here again in the future.

Extremely impressed with this unique restaurant in Windsor Terrace. The atmosphere is very nice with a warm fine dining vibe. The cocktails 🍹 were very good and I ordered a Manhattan. We ordered the Bangers and Mash … I feel it’s a must-have because it’s unique to the restaurant. Also ordered the seared scallops which were cooked perfectly. The raw oysters was a great and delicious starter. The glazed carrots were extremely delicious . Highly recommend 👍🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic neighborhood spot; we've enjoyed brunch (Irish breakfast and corned beef hash were authentically hearty) and dinner here and everything tasted delicious. The chicken pot pie and beef stew were rich and skillfully prepared...cocktails were creative and refreshing, as was the Irish coffee. The service is stellar, we were very well taken care of by the attentive staff. Rounded things off with the Guinness chocolate cake, which was perfectly balanced by the cream filling. Couldn't ask for better, hope to enjoy meals here for years to come.

Pretty good Irish food. The chicken nuggets are house made and even have herbs in them. The black pudding is very good too. My wife didn’t even know it was pig blood she was eating. The butter is excellent. The scallops are perfectly cooked. The fries are excellent and still have the peel (which I prefer). Has all the classic Irish dishes and they are very well done.

I enjoyed the fish and chips - it is very crunchy compared to fish and chips from a chip shop but I prefer them this way! To end we had the apple cake dessert. It was ok compared to the rest of the food

Been here a few times and absolutely love it. The place was pretty packed, plus there was a session band (who were awesome btw). We got seated immediately and after just a bit of delay (server was collecting band tips, so understandable) we got our order in. The soda bread is definitely the best I've ever had. The short rib and the salmon were perfect.

We had a wonderful lunch! Started with the soda bread, pasta and burgers for the kids. All gobbled up before I could take a picture. The adults had the full Irish breakfast, wedge, and corned beef hash and eggs. We all shared the desserts and the Guinness cake was the crowd favorite. The service was attentive, and the drinks were perfection! We can’t wait to go back for dinner.

Waaaaaay too much salt on/in everything (like the chef is a smoker and adds lots of salt until they can taste it). Ironically, except the French fries (which had almost no salt). The place is really nice looking though and our server was very nice (even though clearly the only server for a full restaurant during Sunday brunch)

We had a lovely time on a Friday afternoon in this sunny space. The service is very friendly and attentive. I loved the Shepherd's Pie and the Guiness Chocolate Cake. Glad to have this bar/restaurant in the neighborhood.

I love this place. Great food and ambience. The salads are beyond compare as is everything else on the menu. I'm coming back. This is the best restaurant for miles and miles.

This is a very cute new gastropub. We sat at the bar on busy Saturday night. We were able to get a reservation a few hours before. Our bartender / server was great. The drinks were quite good. We tried the prima ballerina, the old fashioned and the skell and bones. They have some great whiskeys in house, specifically some I've only had served to me in Ireland or very upscale bars. Great selection! The food was hit or miss. We really enjoyed the soda bread. Really well baked. I ordered a special which was mussels cooked in cider, herbs, butter with a baguette. My boyfriend had the beef and stout soup. My mussels came WELL before his soup. Like I was finished when his soup arrived. Don't know if mine was meant to be an app and that's why there was a significant delay, or what but that should've been explained by the server if so. The mussels were good not great. There wasn't a ton of flavor to them and the toast was burnt. The stew however was fantastic. Really rich and complex flavor. Small portion sizes though. We also had the apple brandy cake which was a bit dense and dry but had good flavor. We will for sure come back but I think stick to tried and true faves like the stew and fish and chips / the myriad selection of pies that looked great coming out.

At last, The Lonesome Club is here to fill the food desert between Hamilton's and Le Paddock on one side and Krupa Grocery and Double Windsor on the other. Having completely transformed the Rhythm and Booze space, this is now a high-end, Irish-inflected gastropub with a fairly pricey menu. But the warmth and conviviality of the space, and the staff, should (if there is any justice in the world) keeps the crowds coming back. My bangers and mash were (was?) well-seasoned and complimented with shrooms and candied apples. My companion enjoyed his fisherman's pie, made with ham hocks, cod, and veggies. The wine menu is extensive, but I opted for a delicious Dark Hollow chocolate stout from West Kill Brewing. For dessert, we split the Guinness chocolate cake, which was a little dry but still tasty. Extra points for our awesome server, Nora, with whom we vibed on a variety of subjects, and for the celebrity at the bar.

My wife and I had dinner there last night with 2 friends. The food was good, the staff friendly and attentive. However, the entire time we were there-almost 2 hours-there was music blaring so loudly we could barely hear each other. We requested that they lower the volume 3 times and if they did so, the reduction was barely noticeable. We would not return unless this were addressed.

Average food for above average prices. Good but not worth the price. Curious addition to the neighborhood. Hope it lasts

Welcoming staff. Food was delicious and comforting. Simple Irish fare that will fill your soul. Restaurant decor is pleasant. A wonderful neighborhood place to visit.

Beef stew is something I will Come back for again and again! Great vibe and great service at the bar.

A few things: the menu is limited. Very basic, and mostly heavy dishes. Like - the only fish on the menu is breaded and fried. The food selection is kind of Irish - bangers and mash, fish and chips, colcannon. But really it's got an American bar food vibe. Apparently the cheeseburger was very good. Good fries. Loud dining room. Most of the time I was wishing there was a volume knob to turn down and soften the sound. Nice waitstaff. The menu needs more variety and creativity and they should do something about the intensity of the sound. Then I would recommend.

I'm a bit surprised by the five star reviews. Also the fact that some were posted many days before Lonesome Club opened was sketchy. But the interior is cute and appealing and we were tempted. Unfortunately, the food goes from mediocre to bad. The seafood chowder is gummy, more like flour paste with some flavor. Really not good. The fish and chips are a batter sarcophagus for the unfortunate, entombed fish. It's all batter, the fish is an afterthought. Poor fish. The beef stew is watery, like a cliché of English (Irish workhouse?) institutional cooking. The service ranged from fine to absent. Will definitely not be back. Could have eaten so much better at home.

This is an excellent place for a great meal. The food and service are great and people at the bar seem to be having a good time of it. There are only two things that I grouse about. it is a bit expensive (but it is NY after all). And while the music they play I really enjoy, it is just too darned loud for my old ears. Having a conversation with my daughter over dinner is pretty much out of the question for me. But again, the food and the service are both excellent.

Brunch needs work! Aside from the scone, which is delicious, everything else we ordered at our table was disappointing. Corned beef and hash had barely any corned beef and portion and presentation was dismal. Eggs were supposed to come over easy and were not runny at all. We aren't "send things back" people but given the price and small portion wanted to enjoy it. Chef sent it back to us insisting it was over easy! We showed server the eggs were cooked through and then the chef sent us back barely cooked eggs, but we weren't about to get into it so just ate it. No toast or anything special about $16 entree. Fish and chips were salty and plate was covered in just fried pieces of batter-- in the photo that is my plate when no actual fish was left. The fries they have as a side said "hand cut" so expected steak fries but they were just crispy fried shoestring pieces with no taste by FRIED. Photo of this $26 dish Such a beautiful space I hope it gets it together to compete with great spots in neighborhood. Servers were lovely (and embarrassed with the egg situation and the mounds of leftover fried batter that spilled over to our side plates)

The food and drinks were great. Came in on a Friday night right before it got crowded. The place looked really nice. Tables in back were full but my wife & I grabbed 2 bar seats. As it got more crowded the owner (or manager?) stayed away from the bar. It quickly got crowded and the only one seemingly entering orders into the computer was the bartender. AND he was making delicious cocktails & taking other orders for the now-full bar. It definitely was a buzz-kill to our really nice meal & drinks to have a front row seat watching the manager come behind the bar and blame everything on the bartender. Hoping this was a one-off thing. Anyhow, this kept be from a 5 star review. Food and service was good. Hope they can find a better system of "training"?!

Had a great birthday dinner with a friend tonight. Place is so cute, cocktails were top notch, and all the food was fantastic. Service was great too! Not sure why others described a bad experience. Food was great and staff were attentive. Happy to have finally made it!

Really wanted to like this place and I hate leaving bad reviews. I ordered the french onion soup and a beef stew. French onion was VERY wine forward to the point where I didn't finish it despite it being my favorite food on earth. They didn't cook the wine out of it. Beef stew was runny with under cooked potatoes and carrots. But I will say the lumpy mashed potatoes (i could live with this) and the stew broth created a nice bite. For the price I can't say its worth it unfortunately. Staff was great though.

Food was good. We enjoyed everything we had there. Wedge salad and the soda bread were my favorites. We like sitting at the bar. We went on opening weekend, so there were hiccups, but overall we like the food and drinks.

Vegetarians beware! The vegan burger is wretched. Flavorless mash of overcooked (canned?) white beans and tomatoes inside the dryest bun in the world. My dining companion had the fish and chips, which he said was excellent, and the decor and vibe are lovely. But if you're a vegetarian or vegan, just don't. Truly. Worst overpriced meal I've ever had.

Came for dinner tonight, and they really take it to another level! The chicken pot pie, sheppards pie, and fisherman pies are all awesome. Very impressed by the dinner menu--the food is very delicious and comforting. I am looking forward to eating here again soon.

I arrived with a friend on Sunday the 24th at 1:00 pm the service and getting us settled was great. After a short time 4 adults arrived and were seated at the other side of the Resturant Initially they were on the loud side. Shortly later two other adults joined them. The noise got quite loud so much so it was difficult to hear the person I was with. I mentioned the noise to the waitress. She admitted they were loud. There was a table of two women two tables away from us. They caught my partner's eye and communicated that the group was very loud. We didn't even stay for coffee or desert. We left and we got outside my partner said we are never going back. It honestly ruined a brunch. The food and service was great L

Absolutely an awesome addition to our neighborhood. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Their menu is always changing (at least at this date?. We have been there for dinner (with 4 adults and 2 kids) around Thanksgiving. The food was truly lovely and special to share with family. Since then, husband and I have been there about 4 more times (all for lunch/brunch fare). The menu during lunch is abbreviated, yet still wonderful in quality and service. Brunch was surprisingly civil (I.e. most brunch places in Park Slope/Windsor Terrace are a nightmare for anyone without progeny and patience) and yet this restaurant remained a calm oasis even for the brunch uninitiated. Do go and visit them. The food is honest and special. The service is knowledgeable and caring.

FINALLY, something else opened here! The decor is tastefully done, the eggs benedict is amazing and A+ coffee. M Great service, too. Will be back!

The food was good. The servers were attentive and friendly. However, we walked in before 1 on a Sunday during brunch. There were very few people in the restaurant. Two tables (one was wrapping up their meal) and a couple eating at the bar. We waited a really, really long time for the food considering how few people were there at a time when the kitchen should be set to prepare food for a lot more guests.

Amazing food, truly. Somewhat smallish portions for lunch. The prices are a bit upscale considering the middle class, residential neighborhood. The service is very attentive and the place is very cute, clean and stylish. Not a dark type of pub. Lots of light, flowers and brightness. One star missing because the value just isn't great, despite the food being very well executed.

Live just down the block and am very excited they finally opened! Husband and I ate here a few days ago and while we mostly enjoyed it, there are some things that could be improved upon. (and we hope they make these improvements because we'd like to give this place more business) What we liked: - ambience is cozy, wait staff was very friendly - chicken pot pie was very tasty and flavorful - cheeseburger was yum What could be better: - fries tasted stale, old, reheated and just bad - we had two cocktails (an old fashioned and the skell and crossbones) and both were very watered down and eh (not worth the $16 they charged) - prices are too high

Extremely impressed! I have been searching Park Slope for the ultimate French Onion Soup, and I think I found it! Much better than Couleur Café (3.5/5) and Olivier Bistro (1/5). I'd give The Lonesome Club's soup 5/5 We had: Chicken Pot Pie: big, delicious, no notes! Beef Stew: Really delicious, but portion size was a little on the small size? Plenty of meant, but could perhaps use some vegetables (maybe carrots and onions) to fill out the portion size. Service and ambiance was lovely - music was a bit loud, but everything else was perfect

We didn't get a chance to sample enough of the menu to pen a true review but we were impressed with what we tried so going to give them the benefit of the doubt and go with 4 stars. Also, the reboot from old man bar to neighborhood gem is amazing and factors into my stars. The space is beautiful. We had the chicken pot pie and Sheppard pie. Both were flavorful with excellent presentation. I tend to not order Irish grub so hard to compare but I'd like to believe what we ate is authentic representation of the Irish classics. The menu is well balanced offering salads, appetizers, mains and sides. Love the addition of a kids menu. And they have the Champaign of beers. We will be back to dig deeper.

I'm giving 3 stars because they are new n still gotta work out the kinks. Staff was friendly n place very cute. Would be better to take out a table because they are jammed in. Sat at the bar n drinks were good, not a huge selection but they are new. Apps were Irish soda bread which was a little disappointing since it really didn't taste like soda bread. Wedge was good but definitely needed more toppings. Oysters were cold. The fish n chips were delicious as the chocolate cake. Id try it again because there are other things I'd like to sample.A bit overpriced for what it was but then again WT has gentrified over the years.

Never like to speak poorly about a local business but want to warn people: if you or your kids have food allergies, do not go here. Was excited to try it as it looked cute walking by. Went with a friend, immediately informed them of my allergies (nuts and sesame), then we ordered a starter salad which did not list any nuts on the menu (it listed all the other ingredients of the salad). Server comes out with salad, poke around a little and it looks like there's a layer of nuts. I flag her down (mistakes happen, I get it), and tell her about it. She apologizes and says they'll remake the salad. About ten minutes later it comes out again, there are no visible nuts and I eat some. Instantly I know something's wrong; my friend and I dig, and there are several nut pieces mixed through--not a cross-contamination thing; it was just fully in the dish. Had to leave immediately to seek treatment. They got an earful from me on the way out, and hopefully this will make them rethink their practices. But both on the front- and back-of-house side they are not aware of what's in the dishes. I don't expect every restaurant to be able to accommodate allergens, but I do expect them to tell me that they can't handle it and to either order something else (from the get-go no one told me where would be nuts in the salad) or to go to a different restaurant. Oh, and despite it being a Saturday night, we were the only table eating dinner so it wasn't a busy issue (I've also worked in restaurants and get it).

Ordered the sunchoke salad, frisee, chicken pot pie, and fisherman's pie. For drinks, the Dublin Hive and the Veni, Vidi, Lychee. Not a single miss. Will definitely return.

Excellent burger. Fries need help--skinny and soggy. Friendly service; nice people. Bar drinks a little too high in price. I would go back.

sat at the bar. ordered drinks which were great. ordered food and it never came. asked the bartender who said geez it's been 45 minutes so sorry...gave it another 15 minutes and closed my tab and told them forget my food. so nice place- terrible experience.
