The Lotus Room - Review - Midtown - New York - The Infatuation

"In the Theater District, The Lotus Room is a glitzy restaurant making food with Japanese, Chinese, and Korean ingredients, like salmon carpaccio and duck confit bao. Underneath the restaurant is their speakeasy, The Confessional, where you can sip on a duck fat-washed bourbon in a dark, candlelit room." - Willa Moore

This new spot is elevated but not pretentious, with vibey lighting and a sexy ambiance. All the cocktails we tried were creative, delicious, and luxurious, but the Okinawa Fashion was the main standout. They smoke the Japanese Oak wood chips right in front of you! The smell, the flavor, the drama!! The food delivered too, especially the duck confit bao. Great flavor to the duck and perfect combo of textures with the soft bun. The speakeasy was our favorite part, it has a fun entrance with a cool, spooky, and spicy vibe. The bartenders here were 10/10 and the drinks topped our already excellent first round in the restaurant. Love the commitment to the bit, this will be a must stop to snuggle up and sip something sinful whenever we’re in the area.

The Lotus Room is the perfect spot for date nights or for dinner with a group of friends. The duck confit bao buns are a must try. The NIB cocktail was spicy and smokey and paired perfectly.

Went to The Lotus Room’s grand opening and loved it! The vibe was moody and intimate, perfect for a night out. My NIB cocktail was super balanced, and the Spicy Sesame Cucumber + Stir-Fried Snap Peas & Lotus Root were standouts. John took amazing care of us, even recommending a unique hopped sake (crisp + refreshing!) and the Matcha Cake for dessert, which was the perfect ending. Val also stopped by with thoughtful sake suggestions that made the night feel extra special. Already planning my next visit — highly recommend ✨🍸

We ordered like half of the menu and there were so many things we loved. Among my favorites were the Prawn Toast and crab rangoons. Although the favorite of the night was most definitely the black sesame gelato. 10 out of 10, would do this again. The ambience was moody and sexy.

Had an amazing dining experience last night! The Black Truffle Lobster Dumplings were made to perfection. Definitely a dish I will come back for. I’ve never had vegetable dishes quite like how Chef John Creger whipped them up. The Stir-Fried Snap Peas and Lotus Root was insane!!! The crunch and flavor was impeccable.

Beautiful setting, and wonderful drink list. It's a tad on the dark side. Would be good for a semi-formal first date
