The 38 Best Restaurants in Hong Kong - Eater

"Hong Kong may no longer be under British rule, but the tradition of afternoon tea is still going strong. For an all-frills experience, the Lounge at Four Seasons Hong Kong is hard to beat, complete with floor-to-ceiling harbor views, a classic three-tiered presentation, plus additional dishes passed around throughout tea time. Had a stir fried noodle (炒貴叼). Very tasty and flavourful, with a good spicy kick. Enjoyable lunch, the chair cushion needs replacement though.

Had the vegan gluten free high tea for a birthday celebration. The portions were very small. The scones were more like muffins and oily in texture. The sandwiches were really small, much much smaller than the typical bite-sized portions (and nothing special. Literally some mango/asparagus on gluten vegan free bread) The Panna cotta was more like agar agar. The other items were nothing special. We had high tea at Jim Thompson Tea Room at Cameron Highlands Resort (SLH hotel) and the vegan gluten free scones there tasted like normal scones and they made an effort to serve normal sized delicious sandwiches , unique desserts etc. Overpriced and Underwhelming

Was recommended to try out The Lounge, and I’m glad I did. The restaurant is spacious and nicely designed. Service was excellent, staff were friendly and professional. Everything we ordered was delicious and very satisfying. My favourite was the mash potatoes with black truffle oil.

Post-typhoon/Back-to-office lunch at this cute lounge restaurant at the Four Seasons Hong Kong (next to my office building). Love the new menu created by the new Executive Chef, Maxime Luvara! My favourite dishes were Pan Seared Foie Gras Escalope (one of the best I have ever had) and Seafood Cocotte! Their dessert- La Chouquette Profiterole and Glazed Guanaia Chocolate Mousse were so nice toooooo!!

Service-wise, superb! The food is a tad expensive for the taste you're getting when it comes to starters and mains. We had the sirloin and at medium-rare it was cooked beautifully but the taste was lacking. Great care was given to the sides like potato gratin and sweet potato fries, though. The best surprise of the meal was the Guanaja Chocolate Crème!!! Absolute decadence and plenty of chocolate to feel guilty about if it were not for the tart mango-passion fruit compote underneath. We also tried the Paneer, Okra and Green Pea curry, but we're a bit disappointed by the mellowed down version of this. Not as flavourful as we'd expect.

Refined and formal with precise service, it is definitely a great choice to have breakfast/brunch business meetings. View is great if you get to sit by the windows. Food well presented. On the formal nature of the lounge, no buffet is offered here, only a la carte options. I also had afternoon tea here months ago, may add the pics if I came across them again.

Yelp
Food: 3.5/5.0 Service: 4.5/5.0 Value: 1.5/5.0 Decor: 4.0/5.0 Overall: 3.5/5.0 Easy and quiet-ish spot for breakfast or tea in the IFC complex or if you're staying at the hotel. Awesome service per 4S usual but the pricing is... per 4S usual.

Yelp
Unfortunately I have to say that the gluten free high tea is no longer what is was. The scones are a far cry from what they were when I tried them earlier in the year and the restaurant has confirmed that they have changed the recipe. This was the most disappointing aspect of the meal but not the only. The sandwiches were somewhat uninspiring with a simple piece of salmon on toast without any condiments whatsoever. Management did listen to our woes and did provide us with a few pieces of chocolate to make up for the fact that in the party of four we all left more than half of the scones they were paying for. They also did only charge us for 3 as opposed to 4 sets, but for the price one is paying at an establishment such as the Four Seasons one really does expect better. I doubt I will be returning unless the old recipe makes a return

Yelp
I was dying to go to afternoon tea while being back in HK and the most traditional was obviously the Four Seasons. And sadly, I can only said that the food itself was just average. Everything was very tiny, the scones were actually TOO buttery, and the selection was not the best. Service and atmosphere were lovely, but it comes down to the tea set, and that ultimately was a letdown. Maybe I'll actually wait in line at the Peninsula next time.

Yelp
I was here with a friend and my 4 year old daughter for afternoon tea a couple of months ago. We loved the set - the canapés and scones were so tasty. No drying bread anywhere either, which I have found at another high end afternoon tea place. I liked how they also had a good selection of organic teas. Complimentary apple tart was a nice touch, and their service was impeccable. We had a great time, and will return when in town again.
