The Lynhall Review - Lowry Hill East - Minneapolis - The Infatuation

"The Lynhall feels like an upscale version of a neighborhood coffee shop, with plenty of natural light, communal wooden tables, and an esoteric assortment of ceramic crockery and gleaming metal vases on the shelves behind the bar. They do brunch every day, but the menu is bigger and has some gems you can’t find during the week, like a shakshouka with chickpea fries. The bakery has excellent chocolate croissants and savory galettes, but you can also just go big and order the pastry board that comes with five different pastries to share. In addition to the usual boozy brunch suspects, the cocktail menu includes an interesting breakfast martini made with gin, vodka, orange cordial, marmalade, and orange bitters." - Stacy Brooks

Absolutely loved the Afternoon Tea! I can’t wait to try it again. I wish there were more sandwiches included, but that’s just me. Great presentation and everything was delicious. I would recommend rolling the teas to each person instead of taking the teapots to the cart to be filled.

I visited for afternoon tea with a friend as we make our way through the tea offerings in the Twin Cities. First, the atmosphere. The space is bright and open, with bistro tables and a few booth nooks along the wall. It’s cute, quite modern. We were sat at a small round table right next to the window, where there is a nice cozy heater to keep you warm. Lots of people walking by, peeping through the windows so we felt a bit on display, but no biggie. Maybe frosting the glass a few feet from the bottom would feel less vulnerable? Hostess was super sweet, dropped us at our table with menus. Our food was dropped on the table immediately, and we waited about 5 minutes to be served our tea. I would vastly prefer to be served tea right away before the food comes out. There was a good selection of tea - served loose leaf in a pot, so once you chose a flavor, it didn’t seem like you could switch. Cream and sugar were very small portions - 3 packets of sugar and 2 sweetener packets. I really didn’t like being served sugar packets! Lumps would have been much better. Tea was refilled once - you place your pot lid off on the side of the table to indicate you’d like a refill. I waited about 5 minutes for mine. We ate after we finally got our tea. The savories were fine - I liked the variety. The mortadella sandwich wasn’t my favorite, and the baked potato tartlet was oddly sweet? Scones were absolutely delightful. 2 each, and they were cakey and flakey. The cheese and garlic one was quite large, and I would have liked some butter to go with it. This is the first tea I’ve been to in the twin cities with real clotted cream!! Hurrah! I didn’t want to waste the small shared pots of clotted cream on the huge savory scone. The cream scone was amazing with the accompaniments. Desserts were so yummy! The carrot cake felt like a large portion with a bit too much frosting and the rhubarb tartlet completely fell apart after once bite. I loved the chocolate pot de crème with mango, and the strawberry trifle was soooo good. We had to wait for a very long time to be checked in on after our second pot of tea - about 20 minutes. Server was very quick once we asked for the tab, but I felt like I had to interrupt her bussing other tables. Things I liked: Such cute china, the table full of tea-themed books and items for sale was adorable. Beautiful space and friendly service. Picky things: Tea should always be served before the food. Tiers were arranged oddly - savory should be on the bottom, scones in the middle, and sweets on top. Service should be paced a bit better - they seemed to be very busy and unable to check on tables enough. Cost was 60 per person. Priced more expensively than other places. This is, in my opinion, quite high for the tea and I would expect a bit more for it, but this was better than other expensive tea options like the St. Paul Hotel.

Lynnhall, nestled in the vibrant 50th and France area, offers a delightful dining experience both indoors and outdoors. With a plethora of vegetarian options that tantalize the taste buds, it's a haven for herbivores. The amiable servers enhance the welcoming atmosphere, making every visit memorable. The bakery section is a highlight, boasting irresistible treats like the heavenly Danish and the addictive Matcha latte. Their Halloumi Sandwich, infused with a subtle hint of maple and apple, is a flavor explosion, while the Shakshouka impresses with its robust taste, though an extra egg would elevate the dish. However, one downside is the credit card surcharge, which feels out of place in today's era of digital transactions. Passing on this cost to customers, alongside a health and well-being surcharge for staff, adds an unwelcome extra burden, significantly increasing the overall expense. While the culinary offerings and ambiance beckon for return visits, the additional charges may deter some patrons. It's a shame that such a charming establishment detracts from its allure with these financial impositions. Nonetheless, Lynnhall remains a tempting destination for those seeking delectable vegetarian fare and a warm atmosphere, despite the financial considerations.

We just had our wedding at the Lynhall 7/12/24. We worked with Shawn and his team. Everything was perfect and we couldn't recommend The Lynhall enough to anyone looking to have a wedding here. We had about 70 guests, the space was PERFECT for this. The space is gorgeous. Shawn is 10/10, he is incredible. The bar and waitstaff were great and super friendly. The drinks were amazing. We couldn't be happier with how our entire day went. Thank you so much to everyone at The Lynhall.

I’ve been a fan of the Lynhall for awhile now and recently I seem to be visiting the Edina location more often than Uptown! Lynhall Edina is bright and cozy, with tall ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, warm wood tones and plenty of seating options for big groups or a solo coffee. The Edina location shares much of the same menu as the Uptown restaurant. They have a variety of pastries and some very creative brunch options, but you’ll most likely find me ordering the Lynhall “Standard,” with eggs, sourdough toast, fried potatoes and a choice of breakfast meat or broccolini. I’m pretty picky when it comes to a traditional breakfast and I appreciate crisp potatoes (there’s nothing worse than soggy, greasy potatoes), sourdough bread and the choice of a veggie meat or vegetable. Everything was prepared perfectly with a side of jam, ketchup and/hot sauce, if you’d like. The coffee is terrific as well! Note: As of the time of this review, Lynhall Edina serves brunch only and is open until 2pm, so don’t show up for a 1:45pm coffee meeting like I did once with a client. ;) There’s a nearby ramp for convenient, free parking, any time of year or weather. I’m hoping to come back soon to try the afternoon tea offering!

Went for the afternoon tea service. Everything was set up in advance, very smooth greeting to seating. The staff were even able to help accommodate for our dietary restrictions! Highly recommend the tea experience but I would say it's more food than I expected so come ready to eat

The restaurant provides a beautiful atmosphere in a great location. You’re going to pay for the ambience in the price of the food, but the quality and flavor merits a higher price. We asked to split our plates, and the kitchen provided a gracious helping of the sides for each of us.
