I’ve been hearing about Magnolia Pancake Haus ever since moving down to San Antonio, and I had been meaning to give it a try for just as long. Well, my husband and I finally took it upon ourselves to eat here, as we were in the area. The service was excellent! Our server was warm, informative, and more than helpful. I loved the atmosphere; it was kitschy and reminiscent of grandma’s house without being too garish or over the top.
The coffee was superb. I don’t what it was, but it was some of the best coffee I’ve ever had. I believe it must’ve been the cream they use. It was dairy-forward in a delightfully pleasant manner.
My husband’s over easy eggs were gorgeous—perfectly cooked amwitj s lovely bright orange yolk. The grits were fantastic, too, and also unlike any I’ve had at other establishments. My better half also got the biscuits and gravy. Man, those had to be in the top 5 best biscuits I’ve had! So crumbly and slightly dense.. in the best way.
However, the two highlights we tried were the breakfast sausage and the apple pfannkuchen. Hands down, the sausage was the tastiest I’ve ever tried. The German pancake was AMAZING. The lightly crisp edges,, the caramelized apples.. the heavenly whipped cream.. I was enamored by it. You must try.
I’m so glad this place lived up to all the hype. I’ll be recommending Magnolia to our friends and family who visit.
