I’ve been hearing about Magnolia Pancake Haus ever since moving down to San Antonio, and I had been meaning to give it a try for just as long. Well, my husband and I finally took it upon ourselves to eat here, as we were in the area. The service was excellent! Our server was warm, informative, and more than helpful. I loved the atmosphere; it was kitschy and reminiscent of grandma’s house without being too garish or over the top. The coffee was superb. I don’t what it was, but it was some of the best coffee I’ve ever had. I believe it must’ve been the cream they use. It was dairy-forward in a delightfully pleasant manner. My husband’s over easy eggs were gorgeous—perfectly cooked amwitj s lovely bright orange yolk. The grits were fantastic, too, and also unlike any I’ve had at other establishments. My better half also got the biscuits and gravy. Man, those had to be in the top 5 best biscuits I’ve had! So crumbly and slightly dense.. in the best way. However, the two highlights we tried were the breakfast sausage and the apple pfannkuchen. Hands down, the sausage was the tastiest I’ve ever tried. The German pancake was AMAZING. The lightly crisp edges,, the caramelized apples.. the heavenly whipped cream.. I was enamored by it. You must try. I’m so glad this place lived up to all the hype. I’ll be recommending Magnolia to our friends and family who visit.

September 27 is the day I arrived at this lovely establishment. Straight off a flight. This was my first stop. I’d only read a handful of reviews before visiting. I’m not from San Antonio so I don’t know what is around but from the looks of it, it’s not much. When my uber driver pulled up to the restaurant I saw a line out of the building. I anticipated a little wait. Surprisingly 5 minutes after checking in, I was sat at a nice quaint table. For a Saturday morning, this restaurant is packed! There was a line when I arrived and when I left. I feel like they consider this as there is plenty of seating on their “front porch”. After I was sat, I was greeted promptly by my waitress who took the time to tell me what the most popular dishes were on the menu. I opted for the Magnolia breakfast. Pancakes, eggs, bacon and hash browns. Simple enough. I got the blueberry pancakes which was the star of the whole show. Eggs scrambled with cheese… you can’t really mess that up. Bacon , crispy = burnt. I’m always weary of crispy bacon because of this but whatever. The hash browns were cold. I did not eat them after I tasted. Now I am not one to send food back or make a fuss about anything at a restaurant. I’ll just never come again. My breakfast for one was roughly $22 including a sprite. Keep in mind that i added cheese to my eggs and blueberries to my pancakes which is an up charge. Would I visit again? Absolutely yes. Like I said the pancakes alone did it for me.

We had a short wait, which was reasonable for a Saturday morning. The good was fresh and hot. Two of our party were vegan, and the selection was small. We initially picked the place due to other reviews that indicated more options. Our waitress did a great job of checking with the kitchen. The banana bread is vegan along with the avocado toast. FYI, the hash is not since bacon grease is used in the mixture. The other dishes were filling and well prepared. Update after owner's reply: Thank you for the information. The selections were made based on the information provided by the waitress who checked with the kitchen prior to our order. The veggie hash was one item they were eager to try. However, we were told that the hash themselves were mixed with bacon grease. He also asked if some could be made eliminating the grease, and it was explained that they are made in batches for the day.

Google
I gave this place a try after seeing it on #DDD. I actually really enjoyed my experience. This is a cute diner for a date or to bring family. I kept it simple and got the Magnolia breakfast with eggs, hash-browns, bacon, and upgraded my pancakes. They were all cooked exactly how I like it and I ate every last bite. The Banana Foster Pancakes were loaded with a cinnamon sugar topping and bananas and pecans. I enjoyed them so much, you don’t even need syrup. Plenty of options on the menu. I would definitely come back again.

Google
We love the Magnolia Pancake Haus. It’s always a treat for us. The food is special. The service is great. From hostesses through the cashiers we always feel welcome. We brought our college-age son on our most recent visit. It’s the only breakfast he will wake up for. The earlier you arrive, the better in terms of waiting. But you never wait as long as they tell you.

Google
As a Google reviewer who enjoys tasting different cuisines, I recently went there for breakfast, and it was an exceptional experience! The food featured a delightful blend of flavors, was well-prepared, and beautifully presented. The variety and quality of the dishes were outstanding. The service was impeccable; the staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring all our needs were met. The ambiance was warm and inviting. With fantastic food and excellent service, this restaurant is truly a gem. I highly recommend it and plan to return. However, one thing to note is that the place is often packed, and the wait time can be extended.

Google
To say we had a wonderful experience would be an understatement. The corned beef hash was crisp and packed full of flavor. The biscuits were fluffy, buttery, and light. The sausage gravy had a rich smokiness, packed full if meat, and the best flavor in any breakfast gravy I have ever had. If you want to try something new, the Apfel Pfannekuchen is a dish that can be shared among many and should be ordered as such. The apples are soft and tender and just the perfect ripeness in each bite. The dish itself, is something you have to experience at least once. Normally I wouldn’t bring a drink into a review, but the house coffee can stand up to any coffee shop or homemade French press coffee. It was rich and smooth with no acidity. If you are in San Antonio, this is the go to spot you have to try for a full sit down breakfast. The staff is very friendly and provide wonderful service.

Google
Food was great and so was the service. Definitely had to snag some pancakes at the pancake haus alongside my eggs Benedict. My boyfriend and I like to try all the breakfast spots on the weekend, and we will be adding this to our fave list.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service. Definitely recommend the pretzel appetizer with the cheese and mustard dipping sauce.

Yelp
Magnolia is a classic! They are great at their craft! It's absolutely delicious and love bringing new people to see that's there's better options than chains pancake places. If it's your first time here everything is delicious! Definitely join the waitlist to avoid waiting longer. If not you will definitely be waiting for a min learn that the hard way the first time. Also when you arrive to restaurant check in at the front even if you're already on the waitlist through Yelp. The service is great! If you get cold easily being a light jacket. Great ambiance and people, brought my siblings and they said "This place smacks we need to come more often"

Yelp
So I used to go to the original location a lot as a young kid. Then I'd go to the Huebner location from time to time and noticed that over the years the quality of food has seemingly gone down. After a bad experience at the Huebner location my husband and I kind of swore off the place, but I came back to their "newer" location off 1604 with my mom. First the service is great! Our server was so kind and thorough so no complaints there at all. My criticism comes down to the food. My hash browns were so cold and not crispy at all. It was really unpleasant to eat and I had to mix it with my eggs which were warm. The pancakes (apples and cinnamon) were good as usual flavor wise but texture wise they were just okay. The price of the meal was super reasonable though. It's a cheap enough place where you can get entrees and drinks for under $50 which is a bit of a rare thing these days in the brunch world. Overall, I wouldn't come back or recommend the place especially when there are so many great brunch spots in town.
google avatar

Yelp
I think I have written a lot of reviews. This is top five worst. The corned beef hash was dry dry dry, and tasted of some fake nonstick oil/butter substitute. The same with the hash browns. The blueberry pancake had way too few blueberries and was quite dry too. They do not have a water filter, so it was served with chlorinated, municipal water supply. Ask Starbucks about water filters. At one point the server wordlessly took syrup off my table and gave it to the table next to me. Never again. My second visit was no better.

Yelp
Way......................over priced food is ok................................... Ok it's November 2025 just picked up box of eggs 48 egg box $9.85 And yet you guys are way over priced STILL ! ITS BREAKFAST NOT A STEAK DINNER !
google avatar

Yelp
I've had their breakfast and it's above average. My wife loves this place so we go. The pancakes are ok, their hash is sorely lacking. I have had a cheeseburger here and it is excellent! I don't think you would find a better one in town. The service is fantastic, great family place . The syrup is not pure maple syrup and I don't believe they offer any. The price value proposition is excellent. This is not our go to for breakfast. I prefer Mamma's Cafe.

Yelp
Best breakfast in San Antonio! I had the Brisket Hash which was amazing. The brisket was smoky and tender. I opted for pancakes which were light and fluffy. My wife had the Magnolia breakfast with the Bacon waffle. Wow, that waffle! The service was spot on. One of our new favorite places in San Antonio!
google avatar

Nina W.

Yelp
Wow! This place is legit! The grits look like they have cheese but it's just pure ground corn grits with a little butter and a whole lot of flavor. De-licious! The waffle... flaky, filled with pecans in every bite and a healthy topping of strawberries made it almost dessert. The scrambled eggs & sausage are just a staple. We ordered the special (brisket omelet) but they'd run out right after we ordered. Because we had to adjust, they discounted our meal and offered a close match (pulled pork omelet). Amazing customer service! It's a perfect family, after church, brunch spot. It's cozy and super clean. They rock a 100 health score to boot! Worth the wait!

Yelp
We checked in on our way there and while my husband was driving we received a text that we were dropped from the waitlist which was very odd because the wait was 37-52 minutes and it was about 5 minutes after we used the check in/reservation system . When we got there they said they do that and then put you back on the list when you check in upon arrival; therefore a super odd system. It was super busy as expected and I have to admit that as busy as it was the noise level was normal, not too loud. Our server was Adam and he was super helpful as this was our first time there and we both had some questions about the menu. On that note, for updated pricing you have to scan a QR code for a digital menu as the printed ones does not have any prices displayed. We had some coffee and the coffee was pretty good. The grapefruit mimosa was delicious. Our food came out and I really enjoyed my stake hash, but was wishing I could have enjoyed my husband's meal, but that beauty had way too much sugar in it for me. It smelled amazing and he said it was delicious! It was definitely worth his wait since it takes a little longer to cook. Overall it was a great visit, but the reservation system is so odd. I am not sure if that will ever change to a better system, therefore it is what it is.

Yelp
We visited on 10/21/2025 in the morning around 10:30. We were greeted and seated quickly in a booth that could handle five adults. It was the day before Dads 83rd birthday so a celebratory breakfast. We now live in CT so our first visit here. Portions for us were all large so consider sharing especially if you can't take leftovers home. Between the five of us we had eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, biscuits , hash browns and toast so a bit of everything. Everyone enjoyed their meals but nothing really stood out as a dish "you had to have". Service was excellent and you pay at the register which worries me for server tips. It somehow seems to take something away from the experience. Overall we recommend this restaurant, especially the great service. Ask for Victoria G.
google avatar

Jane N.

Yelp
The food was really good! Many options and they're able to accommodate large parties. The service was fast and friendly. The ambiance was casual diner style. It was extremely cold in the restaurant! I had to step outside several times. I'm ok with it being a little cold but not to the point that my body was aching and fatigued. So bring your jacket and your appetite!
google avatar

Henry Z.

Yelp
There always seems to be a wait time here, but once you get a table the service is fast and friendly. I got a simple breakfast plate and the portions were fair. Definitely not large portions where you will need a take out box. I enjoyed the food as it tasted fresh and homemade.
google avatar

Austyn M.

Yelp
Their food is amazing! That waffle we had was not even actual waffle. It's made with hashbrowns, eggs, bacon and more delicious savory ingredients. The weight is long, but it's definitely worth it. They are a staple in San Antonio.
google avatar

Bryce M.

Yelp
I have been coming to Magnolia pancake for years and I have never had a problem with their food until the last time I went two weeks ago. I ordered their Joes special which was horrible. Not only was it cold when I got it but It also had a long string of hair in it. This was at the 1604 location. Let's just say I did not eat all of it. Yet.. All the other times I have been to Magnolia it's been great. I don't know what happened but I recommend you take a close look at the food at 1604. Our server was sweet and attentive and the atmosphere is nice. I will go back but I will pay attention.

Jennifer P.

Yelp
Food is mediocre at best. Two of four orders were incorrect when delivered; my eggs benedict was inedible. That said, service was amazing and she did try to rectify the wrongs.

Yelp
This restaurant was a split decision between my better half and me. I really liked it, and she really did not like it. We had heard so much about the long wait lines, so we went for a late breakfast. We were both pleasantly surprised when we found no line and were immediately seated. A waiter arrived quickly and handed us our menu and asked if we wanted coffee. While he went to get the coffee, we reviewed the menu and determined what we were going to order. My wife ordered eggs and hashbrowns. I went for a short stack of the blueberry pancakes with bacon. The waiter had poured our coffee and left us a decanter for refilling our cups as needed. This is where our difference of opinion started. She hated the coffee saying it was as weak as dishwater. I thought it was weak but could drink it. It took about 25 minutes for our orders to arrive. Mine came with a bottle of warmed syrup and a couple of scoops of butter to apply. My wife's order came as ordered and nothing else. My pancakes were filled with blueberries and were so fluffy and tasteful. Her eggs were ok, but she hated the hashbrowns as they were nearly burned. Our waiter never came back until we had completely finished our meal. He brought the check and told us to pay at the register on the way out. We had to wade through a mass of humanity to get to the register as it seemed like everyone in town decided to show up then. Will I return? If up to me, we would definitely return. However, I don't think my wife will ever go back.

Yelp
Best breakfast in Texas. I've been coming here for over 20 years and the quality is still top shelf.

Delfina E.

Yelp
Horrible experience at the restaurant. The waiter and host were rude and arrogant, the food was expensive, tasteless, and cold. The air conditioning was so strong that it was freezing. I do not recommend it.
google avatar

Stephanie R.

Yelp
Still amazing! Had the regular Eggs Benedict with a side of buttermilk pancakes. Everything was delicious as always I love their attention to detail like bringing the butter out room temperature. This remains one of our favorite brunch places.

Yelp
We waited around like cattle in a pen, then we waited forever for our food. Right as it was coming out, someone started blasting kids videos. As a music major, my ears are very sensitive to cacophonous noises, like nails on a chalkboard. I was literally starting to have anxiety and panic instead of able to enjoy my food that just came out. The waiter hadn't bothered to come by after the food came but he went to their table. I asked the waiter to ask them to turn it down while he was there. He kind of blew me off saying oh yeah sure or something. Then, he appeared to do nothing and walked across the aisle to another table. I asked the table directly. They blew me off, and they refused to turn it down. So I re-asked the waiter. He said he'd get the manager. The manager blew me off saying they couldn't tell them how to parent. They had the lamest customer service abilities. No care at all, like I was the ogre. No compassion for the distress and panic and anxiety I was sincerely feeling (I'm not trying to be dramatic, this was a traumatic experience, especially adding the lack of service or care). To top it off the food is expensive, and there was no discount given for the distressful experience. I have two very small boys. I understand to an extent to want to play videos although we wrangled our very energetic boys without them but not sure why it was ok for them to play kids videos audible to the next table and not even be willing to turn it down. I feel like considerate parents play it quietly or with no sound or headphones. The boy was close in age to my boy and didn't seem distressed or anything.

Michelle C.

Yelp
Food was not the best and overpriced, next time I'm for sure choosing ihop over this kind of place.
google avatar

Sara-Grace C.

Yelp
We had to wait an hour on a Sunday for brunch but it wasn't too bad because we walked around the area while waiting. I really appreciate how they let me customize my pancakes and I highly recommend doing a chocolate blueberry combo. It looked small alongside my Canadian bacon but it definitely filled me up. It was nice sitting in the corner because we could still have conversations despite how loud it was.
google avatar

Neha S.

Yelp
This was a 10/10 brunch. I got the southern Bennie, and it was the most perfect eggs benedict I've had. The yolk was perfectly runny, the meat was cooked really well, they didn't skimp out on the sauce, and the muffin was not too dry or thick. We did have to wait one hour, but it was a Sunday morning, so I guess that's expected. Our server was super nice, and she got us extra creamer for our coffee. I liked that we got seated in the corner of the restaurant because it was really busy, so it felt nice to have a little private space to ourselves. Be warned: it's really cold inside, and I wish I had a jacket.

Yelp
Best. Breakfast. Ever!! Seriously, no joke, this place is the real deal! We came in early and beat the rush, and were seated immediately by very friendly hostesses. Our server, April was simply amazing and took very good care of us. Since this was our first time (certainly wont be our last) we got a little of everything. I got the corned beef hash, she got the calico hash and Mama got the Magnolia Breakfast with bacon. Simply put: everything was top notch! We also couldnt pass up the german apple pecan pancake (no, I will not try to spell it) and let me tell you, do NOT pass this one up! The place is clean, cute without being cheesy and the entire dining experience is perfect for breakfast or brunch. Come on down and get your grub on, you will not regret it!!

Rocio G.

Yelp
Food was delicious and service was good. Compared to the other restaurants I didn't have to make a reservation which I was happy to try Magnolia's food.
google avatar

Todd R.

Yelp
I met a customer of mine here for breakfast - it's his go to for breakfast mtgs. I had the Mexican Street Cork Frittata and a side of bacon. I had never had a frittata, so wasn't sure what to expect. It was good. Real good. Needed a little hot sauce 'cuz I like it a little spicy. Bacon was excellent. My customer had an omelette- it was huge. All in all very good and I'll go back as the hotel I stay at is close. Forgot to take a pick. Dammm

Ern D.

Yelp
Would never come here for food again..this place wasn't worth the time or drive down. Better off going to the Riverwalk and getting the buffet on the river for cheaper.
google avatar

Meri M.

Yelp
Hands down the best pancakes you can find in San Antonio! This was a regular stop for us when we lived local. It's definitely on the list of places to eat when we return to town. My teens will even get out of bed before noon with the lure of Magnolia pancakes! We love the pancakes obviously, but the Farmer's Scramble is as good as the pancakes. The perfect mix of eggs, sausage, onions, and cheese. Our eyes are always bigger than our stomachs here. We stopped by on a Monday at noon and were seated immediately. If you want to eat on a weekend, make sure to get in the virtual line because the wait can be hours. We found the 1:30 pm arrival to work pretty well for weekends as the bulk of the crowd has cleared by then.

Joey R.

Yelp
The food is amazing and the service is even better. The must haves are the APFEL PFANNEKUCHEN is the highlight of the menu and it can feed 2 or 3 on its own. The biscuits are perfectly baked and the sausage gravy is the best around. My favorite surprise was how crispy and flavorful the corned beef hash was.
google avatar

Carrera L.

Yelp
The food was really good, it gets busy on weekends...so be prepared for a wait but the food was worth it.
google avatar

Connie H.

Yelp
Join the waitlist through Yelp! You can join when you are 7 miles out. It will save you!! I love coming to this location as it is newer and has more than 1 stall in the ladies room! I've been getting the buckwheat pancakes and bacon and it does a stellar job in not effecting my blood sugar. I feel like I'm cheating and it's not! My husband loves the Bennie's - if you get the buckwheat pancakes, do a 1/2 order as these are plate sized.
google avatar

Kate T.

Yelp
Oh Magnolia. What happened? What used to be a place I'd gladly wait an hour to be seated at has turned into a place where the food is alright and the service is lacking. What has changed? I think we had our waitress check in once. Saw tables come and go that had been seated after. I wouldn't even take the time to write anything but it just seems like this is the new norm and not a one off. I hope you are able to get back into the small feel spot you used to be.

Sandra G.

Yelp
Great place for brunch. About a 30 min wait on a Tuesday Holiday morning week. Waitress was very friendly. Food was delicious, we had pancakes, eggs, hash browns, banana waffles, coffee and OJ. Family of 5, we left very satisfied. Will return when visiting SA
google avatar

Brianna N.

Yelp
Marvelous breakfast here, all thanks to our server Bree who made our day. Fresh OJ with my mimosa, super smooth coffee, and a unique selection of entrees you can't get at a regular ol diner. Very pleased with my chicken and waffle flight. Ambiance was standard for a busy Sunday afternoon, but not too loud. It was about an hour wait but I really had the best time! Bree just lights up the room, we're so thankful she took such great care of us. If you're looking to eat here, wait within 7 miles (the online waitlist won't work unless you're within that ring so maybe go shopping or something, 50 min wait for 4 at 10 on a Saturday!)
google avatar

Karla P.

Yelp
Great service, my husband and I ordered the Magnolia Special, he added a side of the butter grits. Pancakes were great as usual, but the hash browns were as cold as ice. Grits, were nice and hot, wish I would have gotten them instead. Not my 1st or 2nd visit, always a hit and miss for one of us. Today was just ok.
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
We dined in Friday morning for breakfast and were greeted right away and seated. The restaurant was not crowded and we had quick service. I ordered the eggs and browns which consisted of two eggs any style, savory hashbrowns, and either pancakes, toast or.??? I ordered sunny side up eggs with the pancakes. our meal came out very quickly. Everything looked really nice and was good including the warm pancake syrup. I like that the pancake syrup was not overly sweet, and the food wasn't salty. (I hate salt). Everything was good and pretty basic for a pancake house. I do wish that my savory hashbrowns were savory. They were just plain fried hashbrowns. I really expected savory to mean seasoning and maybe green onions. Other than that it was just a typical pancake house, no Wow factor but I would return.

Rick B.

Yelp
Check in is digital so seating is in queue order. Fair for everyone. Food is excellent.
google avatar

Nick ..

Yelp
The food is outstanding the wait time is a little long but it's well worth it the pancakes are super delicious bit my favorite is the hash browns and gravy

Cyndi G.

Yelp
Great food, great staff, didn't wait more than 15 minutes to be seated even though there was a line. I especially appreciated that the serve brought me a glad of iced water asking with Mt coffee without me having to ask for it, he also left the coffee pot on our table (excellent!) and the pancake syrup was brought ahead of the pancakes, already warmed up and even wrapped in a koozie to keep it warm!!! Now THAT'S how all breakfast should be served at restaurants!! It's those little things that'll bring us back when we're in town!!
google avatar

Mariana T.

Yelp
First timers at Magnolia Pancake Haus. Food was good, service was super fast, affordable prices. I really enjoyed this place and will definitely come back for more. I will say the wait to be seated was longer than how long it took us to order and eat our food. The service was super quick and food had no errors. Everyone was super friendly too!

Gloria Z.

Yelp
Always Amazing! We love going with the whole family when everyone comes in from Out of town. Service is excellent

Yelp
Your whites run on your eggs over easy Your coffee is weak, need to improve the things that are easy

Yelp
This is an experience we had with Magnolia Pancake Haus on 17730 I-35 N. Been to the store a few times so this is a belated review. Located at the same large plaza as Living Spaces down the street from the Hampton Inn parallel to the I-35 fwy, it is hard to miss. Huge parking lot with plenty of parking always. Ordered the Texas Peach Pecan waffle, buttermilk pancakes and the shrimp & avocado omelettes. Great tasting large 8-in pancakes, crispy waffles w/ pecans, and flavorful omelet w/ avocado, shrimp & cheese pairs w/ salsa. Further, what made the experience even better was our server Chris T. He was attentive, friendly and suggested great specials, even helped us save some money by ordering our items a different way. He also checked on us frequently to ensure our food was good. Overall a wonderful restaurant with consistently good food. Because of Chris T and the great food, will definitely come back to try more dishes again. Keep up the good work Chris & Magnolia Pancake Haus!

Yelp
Excellent customer service, tasty food, and reasonably priced. The outdoor patio is a really nice feature.

Yelp
The food was really good and pur server was attentive. The Apple pancacke was bomb. Love this place. .. ... ..

Yelp
Excellent food and atmosphere Like the Curios out front The SERVICE was amazing and we WILL be back

Marilyn M.

Yelp
The Cibolo location was a delightful experience. The rooms were light filled from the large windows and comfortable. The servers were happy and easily engaged with all the customers, not just those at "their table". The food was excellent and servings were large and hot. Drinks were freely offered and refilled. Highly recommend this family owned location.

Federico Z.

Yelp
Grate food, grate service, above and beyond great!!! But pack but worth the wait over all recommend and will come back again.

Yelp
We went here for the first time after always seeing it packed. Our server was attentive and friendly. We ordered a variety of items to try them all -strawberry waffles, apple pancakes, brisket hash, chocolate chip pancakes and magnolia breakfast. Only the brisket hash was a bit overcooked and lacking in flavor but then again it's not a traditional breakfast item. Prices aren't listed and must change so they have a QR code on the menu- anything extra they are charging but don't mention it until you get the bill. Overall, pretty good breakfast.
