Went to the Mailroom last night. Oh. My. Goodness. Made in-house... everything. Made in-house dressings and seasonings. The garlic guacamole was the best I've ever had!
Service was so top-notch. Catherine, our server took time to explain the restaurant's concepts and kitchen techniques as well as some of the more unique menu items.
Then we spoke with one of the managers, Matt, who further answered all our questions. This is not only a clean and well ran business, it's perfectly located, and they keep a happy and welcoming vibe going.
I'd like to take a moment and talk about the photos. The first two are street art I saw walking from The Roxy Theatre to get to the restaurant. There was street parking but part of the journey was the walk from the car. I wouldn't have seen the Slave Market sign otherwise. History is so important, this is how we got here.
The first photo of the good food I got at The Mailroom is the Chicken Ceasar Wrap.
Diced Chicken, Flour Tortilla, Mixed Greens, Caesar Dressing (made in house), Tomato, Onion, and Parmesean Cheese.
I got this minus the last 3 items, and they were happy to amend it for me. Isn't it beautiful?
Matt talked about the marinade process they do with their chicken because that was so tender.
I got it with a side of Mailroom Potatoes, two styles of potatoes, seasoned and grilled to a fork tender perfection.
The second photo of good food is the Warm Red Velvet Bread Pudding. SAY IT. "Warm red velvet bread pudding..." Feel that? That smile?
Yep. That's what it tasted like.
The last two shots are static shots of the restaurant at lunch on a Monday. It's an open floor plan with an amazing back deck with live music in the good weather and heated pods and firepits on the back for intimate moments.
I'm smitten. I have a new favorite restaurant.
