The 5 stars are mostly bc Alex, our waitstaff was so lovely and thoughtful and kind. She thought of the smallest details for us and asked if we needed anything several times. It’s always about the feed people and not just the food. We had a veggie omelette with sourdough toast and has browns. The veggie omelette was good, but not fluffy. Sourdough Toast was okay. The hashbrowns were good with lots of crunchy areas which I love There is plenty of outdoor and indoor seating and there are two sections for indoor seating. There is also a bathroom that you walk up about four steps up. The first level and outdoor seating is totally accessible for wheelchairs, which is great and they even have two tables that accommodate wheelchairs (see pic). It seems like this place has been here over 70 years and It’s still here. A lovely the overall dining experience. Oh I love th individual trash bins on each table! Cute and useful.

Highly recommend this Mansion Diner. I am so impress on the different delightful food I have eaten. Everything is so fresh, delicious, tasteful and pleasing to the palette (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) The service thumbs up very professional and attentive. Overpriced for nothing. The food taste horrible. From the steak, to the eggs and pancakes... horrible!

Bright, nice corner spot far on the east side. The vibe is old school diner with a touch of restaurant (wine tables on the walls etc), but not as noisy as some places can get. The double smash burger with fries was a good deal for 16-18 dollars. Friendly service. Totally understand why Only Murders In The Building picked this spot to film Pickle Diner scenes.

I had overslept and missed breakfast. So I wanted a hearty lunch but without leftovers. I had the shaved corned beef sandwich which was piled high and available with tomato, lettuce, coleslaw and pickle. I had ordered the potato salad but I prefer mine with more eggs. The iced coffee comes with an assortment of sweeteners and a half and half pitcher. The only reason I am not giving this a 5 Star Review is the unisex bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible. They do have sufficient chrome railings. If we were not in a rush we would have ordered dessert.

Had a breakfast veggie omelet and belgian waffle. Friendly and helpful staff. The difference compared other dinners this one has outdoor seating. Food are relatively a little pricey, but I guess location could be a factor.

Staying in the neighborhood for years and we somehow didn’t visit till recently… and once we visited, we absolutely realized what we had missed all these years. Their menu is so vast and filled with so many options. The chicken parm cutlet sandwich is legit the best! Period. Can’t wait to try all items in their menu

Called an order in for pickup and it was ready quickly. The Greek chicken wrap has great flavors. The Tuscan sandwich had the perfect amount of pesto. There's also a lot of outdoor seating so I'll definitely be back!

A bit on the pricey side of UES, as you can see the omelette wasn't that big and I think there was a miscommunication with our order of the pancakes, we wanted the filled cream pancakes but they ended up giving us a blueberries pancakes with pieces of strawberries. Looks pretty sad to be honest and it's because we saw pictures of other yelpers. Guess it's not the same anymore, so with that, giving them 3 stars. Staff was fast and quick with the services as far as making sure my coffee wasn't low and the food was hot. Only thing that I liked was the crispy hash browns and that was it.

I have written several reviews of The Mansion over the years. I no longer set foot in the place. The follow comments may well not fall within Yelp's guidelines. Since the first Covid outbreak, The Mansion has taken to playing loud music on a regular basis, with no apparent regard for its neighbors. Tonight, Thursday October 31, 2024, they went way too far. I have had the dubious honor of living across the street from the place for over 20 years. At approximately 6 PM on the date noted above, I began hearing music so outrageously loud, even with the windows shut, that I was convinced that it was coming from a vehicle stopped nearby. I'm talking about the music one hears from an auto equipped with speakers suited to a club-type venue, being played at full volume with the bass set at 11. It was coming from a live band performing at, guess where, The Mansion. I called the diner and spoke to a Manager. The volume was lowered, though the band played on for at least an hour and a half, still loud enough to be an annoyance. The street on which I live was for many years one of the very quietest in the area. Mansion, you have some 'cojones' to dignify yourself with that name, shame on you!

This is your typical diner. A huge plastic menu which you will never have an issue finding anything to eat. The service is nothing to complain about. And like most diners the food is just okay. You come here for the nostalgic vibes and to get something different every time. It is exactly what you would expect. I will say that it felt very expensive for a diner! A diner would have to do A LOT to end up blowing me away. You will not be let down if you come here though!

I waited for 10 minutes and never saw a waiter. At that rate, I realized there would be no chance of eating something before I had to be somewhere else. Incredibly annoying. I don't know what was going on there, but I promise you I'll never go back. I would suggest the same for you.

What a complete disappointment I had today. I ordered a vegetarian panini with grilled chicken. The bread was completely soggy, the roasted red peppers were from a can and the chicken was overcooked. The sandwich was inedible. The price of the vegetarian sandwich was $19.42 and the added chicken $12.43. Paying $31.85 for a chicken and vegetable sandwich is outrageous. And a panini should have a grilled textured, not sopping wet!

This diner has a ton of strengths and weaknesses. Strategically it's located close to Carl, Schultz Park, making it a common location for families in the area - and a great spot to go for a quick stroll after you're done eating. There is plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, and the indoor almost feels like a classic bustling diner with multiple TVs and even a bar. Well staffed and with a huge menu, you won't struggle finding exactly what you want. However, the food isn't the best. Portion sizes are decent and their home-cooked potatoes are a staple item for me, but the omelettes aren't big and there isn't much flare to each dish. I get it that diners aren't meant to offer flare, but this spot makes up for it with options and location.

Cute and classic American diner. The only reason for the 4 stars is that it's a little pricey for the food you're getting. It's good breakfast food but there's only so much I'm usually willing to pay for breakfast/ brunch. We mostly came for Only Murders. I ordered the cinnamon raisin french toast with a side of bacon. The bacon was perfectly cooked - nice and crispy. The French toast was fantastic and not too sweet. Everything was delicious and the portions were just right. Service was fast and friendly.

On balance, it's convenient, the food is reliably good and the there's sting in the tail when the check arrives. The service is pretty typical for a finer (fast and curt). Would I recommend it? Sure, if you don't want to go far and aren't watching your pennies.

I was looking for a kid friendly restaurant and this worked. Two of my kids had breakfast for dinner: a Nutella and banana French toast, chocolate chip pancakes, and the third opted for Mac and cheese. No children's portions but they did serve the kids waters in plastic cups with a top and straw so no spills. Service was quick and pleasant and the food arrived speedily. As requested they served the children first. Clean bathrooms ( both bathrooms were gender neutral). My tuna wrap was a 5- just the right amount of mayo and some lettuce and small pieces of tomatoes mixed in. Overall a solid 4. Crazy expensive, but you're paying for the rent!

It's more than "A Diner". I'm a regular here. Usually breakfast or lunch. They have a HUGE menu. I decided to go outside the usual Omelette and Burger options So impressed with their Pasta dishes. Chicken Piccata, Penne Puttanesca & Chicken Francese were all amazing.

Met my aunt for lunch with my kids and ordered french onion soup, mozzarella sticks and a root beer. I was not too hungry since I had a big bagel for breakfast. My kids ordered a frittata with honey fries which they shared since it was a big portion. My aunt ordered the matzah ball soup. My French onion soup was delicious and super cheesy. I could not wait for it to cool down because I wanted to make sure I got the oozy cheese melting in my mouth. The broth and onions were not overbearing flavored which was fine for me since sometimes it can be too salty. Mozzarella sticks were nice and crispy and cheesy too, I had to share it because I was already so full. I usually can eat a lot but like I said my bagel from breakfast was very filling. The service was on point and quick, I liked the atmosphere and even though it was small and tight I still felt I had enough room to enjoy my meal at the table with my family.

Perfectly good diner, with very hefty pricing. Service was very friendly and accommodating. I had a turkey club that was good, but they were skimpy on the serving of turkey. The cole slaw is very finely chopped. The split pea soup was very smooth and had no ham or anything else in it, which is great. The atmosphere feels like an upscale diner with nice decor and subway tiling on the walls. There are ample booths and seating for the size crowd they get. For lunchtime on a weekday, we didn't have to wait.

I discovered this place on DoorDash some time last year when I was looking to fill a burger craving while living in UES. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the burger as it was juicy and the sauce complemented it really well. Since then this has been one of my top burger spots in the city that I still go to despite having moved back to the UWS. The burger is definitely one of my favorites and I also really like the fries that come with it. It's like a potato wedge, crispy outside but soft inside and it has seasoning options. My boyfriend and I like the Nashville hot and nacho seasoning to go with the fries. The house sauce is a must have to dip with the fries as well. I've never ordered anything else on the menu because we only ever come here for the super smasher combo and it hits the spot every time. Pricing is comparable to other NYC diners, though the portions might not be as much. It's still just right and filling. We tried hot chocolate on our last visit, and it's definitely more sugar than chocolate so we'll just be sticking to our tried and true burger combo moving forward. Service is usually quick and people are responsive. The interior of the diner is comfy and they have really cute booth seating areas even for couples.

The Mansion is a wonderful coffee shop. We've been eating there since 1974. You can always count on a good meal there for breakfast lunch or dinner.

My partner and I come here almost every week. We love it for weekend brunch. They are always playing Sinatra, and the outside is a great spot to sit on a nice summer or fall day. I always order breakfast - the cinnamon raisin french toast is a must have - but I've always had eggs, fries, bacon or sausage, and toast. My singular complaint is there could be more fries on the plate :) Otherwise the service is always good, the food is consistent, and the Sinatra vibes are so fun.

We went for brunch on a Saturday. Mind you this is a No frills type of diner. The menu is very extensive, from breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner options. Basically any dish you crave, the Mansion has it! From eggs Benedict, homemade corn beef hash, pastas, simply crazy amount of choices. Ordered the Irish breakfast and the eggs with homemade corn beef hash. They were both delicious. I love corn beef hash, especially the homemade kind that you can tell is fresh. This place has it! All other diners I've tried in the area does not have homemade corn beef hash, which was a disappointment. The Irish breakfast was a huge portion of tomatoes, chorizo, potato hash and eggs over easy. Overall, this spot is a solid diner in the upper east side. Will return for the corn beef hash!

Had to visit one more time to enjoy some blueberry cheese blintzes with a side of sausages before going back home. I will definitely be back, the 2 times I visited in a week I experienced excellent service, the coffee was always refilled without me having to ask and the blintzes are delicious!!! Seating was easy to find, even packed we were able to get a table as soon as we arrived. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The host and staff were friendly and welcoming. Ask for a table by the window overlooking York.

Ordered the special on a Thursday night. Corn beef and cabbage 2x. Waited an extremely long time for our meal to come. Almost ready to give up and leave. We'll it comes. The worst corn beef and cabbage meal i ever had. Cabbage was raw and very hard. The potatoes were also not cooked. Corn beef was decent. When I told waiter the cabbage was not cooked he asked if I wanted a different veggie. Come on. What goes with Corn beef? Agh

An old neighborhood fixture and favorite. Delicious food and fantastic service. Their fries are the best. Hope they remain open for years to come.

I like this place for the basic coffee and eggs, a cheeseburger every once in awhile. However it is ridiculously overpriced even for my neighborhood. All of that is to be expected on the corner of 86th and York but today I had a terrible experience there. I stopped by and just asked for an order of pickles and coleslaw, items that are usually free sides with a burger. They charged me $16! $8 for 4 small pickles and $8 for about two tablespoons worth of coleslaw. When I complained the young manager wouldn't do anything about it. Lot of the guys and the waitstaff there are great and professional. But check the prices first, that cheap side might not be so cheap!

Very solid diner in Yorkville! Prices are reasonable - the portions reflect that, too. Service was kind and attentive. There is so much seating inside and outside, which is great to have options. I got the Western omelette and I enjoyed it. I thought the style of hashbrowns (very well done on the top but then mushy/undercooked underneath that very well done layer) was interesting, not my favorite and needed seasoning. But overall, my boyfriend and I enjoyed the outdoor seating hut and could find ourselves coming back here again.

The Mansion came into view when I was walking so I decided it was fate for me to eat at a restaurant that's been in business since 1945! You see today would have been my parents 76th Wedding Anniversary. They married June 9, 1946. This is a classic restaurant they would have enjoyed. The whole time I was there Frank Sinatra was singing as the dining background music! I was greeted warmly and invited inside to enjoy the atmosphere. I was given the menu at the same time so I sat down and reviewed it in detail. I noticed they use some of my favorite companies for their products. Plus I noticed if I pay cash I save the 4% credit card surcharge. I was in the mood for a grilled cheese sandwich and saw the multi grain bread and decided to stay. It was almost immediately a server noticed I was ready and approached me. I told her I am a no fuss diner and I'd like to sit at the counter but would prefer they wipe it off first. She spoke to another employee that immediately took care of my request. I asked the waiter behind the counter who to pay and he showed me the employee that takes the money. They were all so friendly yet professional. In no time my Grilled Cheese was ready and the waiter said "Here it is nice and crunchy". I said "just the way I like it!" My Grilled American Cheese Sandwich was so delicious and not overly greasy. It was definitely worth the almost $10. I can't find anything to complain about. I'm so glad I decided to celebrate my parents Wedding Anniversary at The Mansion. I'll definitely bring family and friends here in the future. It my kind of classic New York Dining atmosphere.

This place is wickedly overpriced. And is too pricey to be a hit or miss joint. The brunch is probably the best option but I just can't justice the cost of it because it's still kind of mediocre? The spot is very popular with old people and families. It is a legacy joint. So it's banking on nostalgia more than quality. Definitely avoid if possible. Realistically 2.5. They service and the outdoor seating brings it up to 3.

Oh the mansion. A neighborhood favorite. I always bring friends who come in to visit me from out of town, here for breakfast after a night of running around on the upper east side. This is a classic diner, with a NYC level of service. Food is always good, portions are large. Can be a bit of a wait in the AM on weekends but that's cause it's good. They love to decorate around the holidays. And it was a Godsend during Covid. They had been trying to get some outdoor seating for years so they took the opp with the outside booths and ran with it. They really did them up nice. And it's a nice wide block to do it on so I hope they get to keep them. Nice, wide booths with all the heating and other amenities. Servers are always on point. Can never go wrong here. After a walk around Carl Schurz park this is our usual pit stop for a burger or tuna on a roll and fries. Always a good choice.

I had the donuts precious mentioned in my earlier review but at the time did not have the chance to try them. I have to say they were absolutely the best donut I have had in a long time. They were big and had to cut them in half to share and everyone loved them. The ingredients inside were fresh and not overly powering. A day later and the dough in donut was still soft and delicious. Definitely recommend having 1 or 3. The donuts are baked from an outside source and not from them directly.

Ordered the chicken soup & iced coffee through grub hub. Both coffee and soup were simple, fresh, and delicious. This is my second time ordering. I'll definitely be ordering again in the future.

We needed to find a diner last minute for breakfast...and that could let us watch a premier league game. We called ahead and they told us to come on down. We got there and the reception was great, they seated us, the food was great, and they hosted us incredibly well. Highly, highly recommend them.

Wonderful neighborhood diner. I always pass by this spot on my midday walk to Carl Schurz and finally had a chance to eat here today. I came with a large party and was able to get seated within minutes. The iced coffee was strong and they had almond milk available. The food came out quickly and our waiter was also able to provide us with separate checks. I ordered the Greek Chicken wrap that tasted like a chicken salad with a side of fries. Would recommend this spot for brunch!

SEQUEL REVIEW: I Teach The Mansion How To Make A Reuben I always thought if I had to teach a place how to make a Reuben, it would be somewhere down South, or perhaps a smaller place in a small little town. I never imagined it would be 86th Street and York Ave in Manhattan. I was in a quick rush and working so I asked my server for a Reuben and he said 'a what?'. I described what it was, told him how to construct it, then off he went. About 20 minutes later, a plate comes out with soggy rye bread, a huge pile of meat, cheese, and a little bit of sauerkraut. I will never complain about a lot of protein, but this was to the point where it is no longer a sandwich. "But where's the Russian/1,000 Island Dressing?" you might be wondering. In a salad dressing bag. That's right, not even on the sandwich. Delivered in a salad dressing bag. Cold fries, and cole slaw that did not taste fresh. Once again, the chefs (owners?) were walking around the front of the restaurant, sitting at a table outside. Like I said the first time, I understand the idea of being relaxed and possibly being around for a long time as a business, but typically when the chef is spending time in the front of the house, it makes you wonder what happens on the line in the kitchen, which (again) was reflected in what I was served. Didn't want to give it just 1 star due to its reputation and longevity. Not sure what else I can say that the pictures don't, but we'll see if I give this place a third try.

I live down the street and have been eating here for many years. Eating in is always a pleasure, but the delivery is the best. Very fast delivery and always has everything included. Great food prepared for all meals and the staff is always nice.

My husband used to live on the UES and we never went. We stopped by last week after a Drs visit and we loved it. The staff is very attentive and they work so well together. Oh and the food was great. Will def head back.

3 stars compared to all diners I have ever been. Food is ok, but prices are just too expensive. Then, wait is the point of going to a diner? Service was just ok. Ordered 2 dishes+small cup of warm milk: ~$50+tip

Excellent atmosphere. The food was top notch great. I spoke with the manager Johnny and shared how this reminded me of a hometown diner with my mom in the kitchen cooking. Definitely a return trip is in order. Mariani my waitress has that heart warming spirit that made you feel special as a guest.

20 years ago this place was amazing. Then they remodeled and now a simple grilled chicken beast is $30. A baked potato is $16.

Green mold on the toast, no apology. Room temperature coffee; promised replacement never came. Silver dollar pancakes were hockey pucks. And it was all wildly overpriced. The Mansion is a beloved staple in this neighborhood, but it has run out of good will. It's overpriced chaos. The green mold with no apology and nothing taken off the bill spells the end of my time at The Mansion. 30 years in NYC, that's the worst meal and service I've had. Jaw still on the floor.

Eggs were a little over cooked. Hot dog underwhelming. It is a foot long but I don't think it's worth the price. The vibe is cool and okay if you want a chill diner.

I wanted to shout out the kind people that work here! I've only been there to eat a quick bite a couple times, but tonight i happened to have gotten a blister from the unexpected hot weather and new sandals. I couldn't find pharmacy on my path toward home, stopped in a couple different restaurants to ask for a band-aid with rude rejection. I walked into this diner and they rushed over over to give a bandaid and just be cool people. This is worth a business review even if I didn't dine:)

I live less than a block away. If we were a brunching bunch, we would go more frequently. Yes, it is a bit pricey but the service is excellent and the food is good to great. We order in pancakes and waffles a lot. When I have house guests, I bring them here for breakfast. I haven't eaten lunch or dinner here so can't comment. Recently, I was out of town when my son was home and got sick after the first COVID shot. Ordered their chicken soup ( he loved it and polished it off) - just perfect. Their pies are marvelous too. Again, it is pricey but c'mon. They mostly serve a population that sends their children to the local private schools.

Grilled cheese arrived ice cold and i'm a block away. no pickle or cold slaw either for 11 bucks ridiculous

A Yorkville legend since 1945, family owned and operated. Colorful, interesting interior with noteworthy photos and information adorning the walls. A spirited, hardworking, fun staff, many who've been on board for years. Exciting menu crafted with quality and imagination. Intriguing dishes respectfully and creatively named in honor of family members. This type of pride is rarely seen in business In todays challenged culture. Dinner is a trip....wow....exciting and interesting. I recently savored the Pasta Carbonara and the Ottomanelli Chopsteak, both excellent and truly prepared to order. I have certain allergies which have haunted me later in life. In any event I was thrilled. Frank, General Manager, is a consummate restaurant professional. Johnnie, Manager, is professional and engaging. Both a pleasUte to interact with. A stroke of luck and obvious wizardry is that I live directly across the street! The food is always sizzling hot.
