Creative comfort fare & cocktails with global-inspired burgers & fries
"Since 1992, the Map Room has made good on its name by bringing in delectable beers from across the globe. If you want the finest sips from Germany, Austria, Denmark, Belgium, and England, this is the place for you. Beer starts flowing at 11 a.m. every day, but the pregame begins with coffee and pastries much earlier." - Adam Rothbarth
"One of our favorite winter activities is Googling flights to much warmer places. So drinking in the Map Room in Bucktown just makes sense, since this place is map-themed. (It feels like your typical old-school Chicago bar, just with lots of geographical wall decorations.) As a bonus, the bartenders are really friendly, which means they won’t judge you when you get up, slowly walk towards a map of the world, put your finger on the equator, and say, “I want to go… here.”" - josh barnett, adrian kane
"The Map Room is a casual bar in Bucktown. The space feels like a typical old-school Chicago bar, the bartenders are friendly, and there are maps on the walls. While those things might not make it seem like a good spot for meeting people, it’s usually full without being insanely crowded, and the people who go are relatively normal and nice. Plus, it’s a good place to make sure the next person you date has a pretty solid idea of where Portugal is." - adrian kane
"This bar in Bucktown is a good spot for day drinking, but it’s also an ideal space for hanging out while you finish up some things you need to do. The space feels like a typical old-school Chicago bar, the bartenders are friendly, and there are maps on the walls (hence the name, we assume). So it’s also a good place to research pirate treasure locations when you get bored of filing expense reports." - josh barnett, adrian kane
"A comfortable spot with tons of great beer, the Map Room is the perfect place to bring food. The maps and flags hanging around the bar might remind you of all the countries you haven’t visited yet, but there are enough international food options nearby to make up for it. There’s Costa Rican from Irazu, Italian from Club Lucky, and, uh, French fries from Small Cheval. The point is, you can’t go wrong with whatever you BYOF here." - josh barnett
