I’ve been to more burger joints than I can count, and The Map Room stands out as an uncontested favorite of mine. They offer such a unique, fun, and interesting array of burgers! Each one seems to be named after a location, with toppings that correspond to that region. I ordered the Delhi Burger, which came with a flavorful curry sauce, fresh mint chutney, and paneer cheese. I’ve never come across such a creative selection of burgers so hats off to whoever designed the menu. Beyond that, their fries are fantastic, and they offer several exciting variations to choose from. As far as drinks go, everything is very reasonably priced, and their cocktails are excellent. Service and atmosphere are also a clear 10/10. My waiter was pleasant to chat with, and the overall ambiance of the venue is warm, inviting, and enjoyable. All in all, this place deserves more than five stars. I’d gladly travel back to Cedar Rapids just to eat here again.

Google
Sooo good! The whole family was happy with their meal. The flight of fry sauces was a great way to try several flavors. The seasonal salad dressing was so bright and delish.

I visited this restaurant for the first time earlier this week. Honestly, I had one of the best burgers ever there. Food was absolutely delicious. The service was great, and the ambience is wonderful. It’s fun to see all the vintage maps that are framed and hung on the walls. I will definitely return some time.

Place is tiny. I think 8 or 9 tables? And about 7 at the bar? You would benefit from making a reservation, especially on the weekend. Went on a sat night. Put our names in about 20 min prior to arriving and still had to wait about 20 min. Their menu asks customers to be mindful of others that are waiting since it is a small place, but no one really does that as there were still 3 or 4 tables that were there prior to our 3 party arrival still there as we were leaving. The burgers were pretty good. They are smash burgers. I had the Memphis, which has pulled pork on it. The pulled pork is served bare with the BBQ sauce drizzled on it, instead of the pork being smothered in sauce. It still had good flavor. My partner got the Omaha and said it was really good! He made his a double for $4 more. The fries are nice and crispy. I usually am not a fan of these style of fries, but I enjoyed these. Pepsi products, which I was happy about a it's not often you find a place that serves Pepsi products. They had bloody marys on special. It was a little hard to drink their house made mix had too much pickle juice and Worcestershire in it, but I finished it. That was $5 on special. Tall boys are $5. Service was fantastic! There is only 1 thing in the menu geared towards kids.... a half a grilled cheese and fries for $6. Otherwise, you can choose a build your own burger for kids. My daughter just wanted a plain cheese burger, nothing fancy, and that was $10 for build your own. Our bill was $67, for 2 adult burgers, 1 build your own, 2 sodas, 1 bloody mary, and 2 tall boys. They do have other sandwiches or salads if you do not want a burger. And soup.

Google
I came here for a late lunch with my partner and every, single, moment was fantastic. From our waiters (Caleb/Kaleb) very attentive and focused service to the PHENOMENAL food we had. I wouldn’t just recommend this restaurant to everyone I know, I plan to be a regular here from now on. They don’t miss and you shouldn’t either.

Google
Great little place in downtown Cedar Rapids. I had the Beale sandwich which consisted of shredded bbq pork, onion strings sandwich dill pickles. Very tasty but messy-best to use utensils to eat it. Served with a side of dill potato salad-yummy. Note: may add surcharge for using a card.

Google
We shared a sandwich and a burger. Food was absolutely delicious, atmosphere was great and service was on point. We got some loaded potato soup as appetizer and again, just amazing. We sat outside with a heater and were perfectly content. Cute little place and would definitely come again!

Google
Service and food took a little bit long but the place was packed when I went in. Great old fashioned flight. Good burgers and fries. Overall worth it.

Yelp
This place was so unique and the menu was unreal. They specialize in burgers and loaded fries. I really can't describe my burger because it was so unique and flavorful. The service was really good and so helpful!

Yelp
So my sister and I came back to the Map Room. We wanted to see if we would have a better reaction. The menu has slightly changed. *looks like that gluten free bun my sister had last time was not dairy free. They have since changed the buns so they are both gluten and dairy free. It was pretty quiet when we came in but by the time we were getting ready to leave the place was packed and had 6 groups waiting for tables. The staff were knowledgeable in what was safe for us to eat and were very friendly. We both ended up doing a build your own bun with fries. Neither of us reacted and we are happy to say we will be back!

Yelp
We were disappointed by our recent experience. We arrived with a fully trained, ADA‑compliant service dog--only to be turned away entirely after the hostess became defensive when we asked to sit inside. We chose not to dine on the patio and left. While the hostess's tone felt unwelcoming, I don't believe it was intentional discrimination; more likely, she may not have known her legal obligations. Under the ADA and Iowa state law, service dogs must be allowed to accompany their handlers in any area open to the public, including indoor dining spaces. Iowa law mirrors the ADA, prohibiting both public businesses and "public accommodations" from excluding service animals unless the animal is out of control or poses a direct threat. I hope the restaurant uses this as a chance to train staff on inclusive practices--especially given how stressful and hurtful it is to be turned away after carefully choosing a place to eat. If welcoming to all guests, including those using service animals, becomes part of their training, it could truly enhance the dining experience for everyone.

Yelp
I was visiting a friend. She wanted to take me to a local food hall for lunch. Unfortunately, they were closed. So we wound up at The Map Room. We got in just before the crowd. Thankfully, we were tucked into a corner booth and got our orders in before it got busy. I appreciate that they have a wide array of N/A drink options. I chose to have the Saigon burger and upgraded to the Tokyo salad as my side. The burger itself was solid. I was pleased that I could taste everything, given how many toppings it had. And the salad was a great complement.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch! It was good! I had the pulled pork sandwich- cannot remember what city it was called. I guess I was expecting more BBQ sauce on it. It was good but I will stick to Hamburger next time! Staff very friendly! So was told that they have cannabis water! So I asked the server if I could have without the water!! It took a second for her to get it!! But I actually left with 2 cans of it to go! LOL !

Samantha M.

Yelp
Such huge flavor in such a tiny building! I haven't tried the Map Room before but my husband is always begging to go and we're so glad we did! everything was amazing- from the service to the food! We're excited to bring our pup to the patio next time!

Yelp
Aaaaaamazing! Milwaukee fries, Memphis burger and two build you owns. Sincerely one of the best burgers I've had in quite some time. Neat little restaurant that fills up fast. If you're thinking about it, just go. You won't be sorry. Just go very hungry.
google avatar

Yelp
The hamburger was ok. The salad and homemade salad dressing was wonderful. The service was quick as was the food. Signature hamburgers. Friendly people.

Yelp
Cozy space with amazing pub food and fries galore!!! FRIES They have large selection of loaded fries. You can order large plate as appetizer or you can upgrade your sandwich fries to the loaded fries (limited to about half of the loaded fry options). I upgrade mine to the MONTREAL FRIES. If you haven't visited Montreal, these are called "Poutine" there. They are topped with white cheese curds and a gravy. Here, you get the gravy of the day which was a beef gravy for me. SANDWICH The BUSAN was an amazing Korean treat that I don't find many places. It is made with pulled pork, kimchi, cucumbers, lettuce, green onions, bulgogi aioli. THE SPACE Very cozy, with not many tables. Try to beat the rush if you want a table. They haveanybseats at the bar which is where I sat since I was a party of one.

Yelp
Great staff, great food, great experience. Nice outdoor seating. Highly recommend and will be back!!

Yelp
Make sure to check it out! This place is a little gem to get a great burger. Our server was kind, knowledgeable and helpful in picking from a tempting menu. We liked the little small town vibe tucked into the city of Cedar Rapids. Food was solid. The banana nut old fashioned blew us away though!
google avatar

Haley R.

Yelp
Service was fast and the atmosphere was great but the food wasn't as great as I was hoping. My boyfriend and I both agreed we would come back but just for the drinks and ambiance of the establishment.
google avatar

Christian G.

Yelp
My wife's local favorite place to go for a burger. She is gluten intolerant and their bun holds up. The fries here are some of the best. Solid beer selection, great staff. The place is small but very comfortable. We try to comeback every couple of months.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Great food, amazing service... even had the bartender laughing when we read the bottom of the receipt and realized there is a potential word missing in the message! Hahaha. Only reason I went with a 4 is because the "parking lot" surrounding the building is gated and i didn't know if we could pull up and park in the lot. So we ended up having to pay for parking.

Yelp
The Wednesday special at the Map Room is a great value--burger, fries, beer, and a shot for $16. The food was good and served quickly. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. Service was efficient with no issues. I plan to return on a Wednesday next time I'm in town.
google avatar

Ishara F.

Yelp
I really liked the banana flavored old fashioned. I am not sure what the name of it was (I forgot) but it was absolutely delicious. Sweet but not too sweet, it is hard to taste the whiskey and almost tasted like a banana milkshake but I am not complaining. I would have 5 more of those. My burger was delicious. I added raw onions and jalapeños on my burger which really enhanced the Delhi burger.

Yelp
We arrived during happy hour on a Friday. A group of six adults, which required the staff to push two tables together. Just as our food arrived we were asked to move to a booth. Six grown adults shoved into a booth so regulars could have our tables. I would love to give this place a good review, but was so disgusted by the treatment we received. One would think management would want to impress their out of town guests. Plus we were charged a 20% grautity for each of our three bills. I gladly tip 20+% for good service. I felt completely humiliated and disrespected by this establishment. If you like being treated poorly, give it a whirl. I personally will take my business elsewhere going forward.
google avatar

Yelp
This is truly a hidden treasure. Little spot under the interstate, love it. The patio was great and the staff was too. I did the Midwest special for Wednesday and added bacon to the burger. Love the fact they layer the cheese AND pickles between the patties, and you get so much bacon because it comes crumbled instead of strips. The burger was on point and the fries were solid. Will def visit again when back in town.

Yelp
I was staying downtown and looking for a place for lunch. To Yelp! Mostly, I found a lot of places selling burgers. That is ok, I like burgers. However mostly what I was seeing was the normal pub style fare, until I happened upon The Map Room. They were not serving a run of the mill, bacon cheeseburger. Their specialty burgers do seem to run pretty meat heavy, but a very interesting and eclectic variety. Also, you can build your own. I did opt to build my own. I have an adventurous spirit, but I was worn out and hungry and just wanted goat cheese! My comfort cheese. Lol. I got a burger with said goat cheese, roasted red onions, and the LTOP. I didn't want the pickles on my burger, I just wanted to eat them. It came with a side of fries. What I got was a beautifully cooked smashburger with a healthy portion of creamy goat cheese and perfectly roasted red onions. The bun was toasty and warm and the veggies that were placed on the side, were fresh. The fries were also great. Hot, fresh, crispy, potato-y. I ate the hell out out it. I had not eaten and was flying out after I left, and it kept me going. It was so satisfying. Also, the prices were better than the other, rather uninspiring, options in the area. It is not a big place and I purposely came in a bit later, after the lunch rush would have died down. I could see it getting really full. I was able to come in about 2 and make myself cozy at a booth, without getting in the way.

Yelp
Only a 4 because I ordered wrong. Got a salad instead of the veggie burger and it wasn't anything special but all my Cowroker's burgers looked incredible and it was a great little spot downtown.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere and staff. Super welcoming and so many amazing plant based options for vegans!! Salads were KILLA

Yelp
The Map Room is a fun little restaurant with tasty burgers and fries. It looks cute on the outside. Inside, it's warm, dark, and inviting, like an old-timey pub from Lord of the Rings or something. I had the El Paso burger (smoked pulled pork, green chili gravy, queso fresco crumbles). It was quite good. I do wish the patty had been larger. When I asked for extra mustard for my burger, the server brought out an entire serving piece with a half-dozen mustards. The jalapeño mustard was a game-changer. Service was lightning fast, even though there was just one person running the bar and taking orders when we arrived around 2:30 pm. It's not a mind-blowing experience, but it's really good food in a cool atmosphere. If we hadn't been in a rush, I could have spent hours enjoying drinks and conversation here. If you're in Cedar Rapids, it's worth the stop for some unique flavors and a cozy hang-out.

Yelp
Decided to stop in Cedar Rapids for a late lunch on our way back to KC. Looking for a good burger to satisfy the traveling party and we decided on this awesome little gem. The descriptions of their selections of burgers, sandwiches and salads made it quite a challenge to decide...they all sounded so good. We landed on the Memphis x2 and the Delhi which were amazing, a grilled cheese for our little, and the Mediterranean salad was huge and a real hit with the crunchy party member in f our group. Great selections of brews and drinks rounded the meal off perfectly. We sat outside on the bright picnic tabled side patio soaking in the sun and pleasant September weather. The service was great from start to finish. Perfect eats pick and stop for a very pleasant and satisfying meal. Definitely would recommend this cute place tucked away off of Third St. under the catwalk.

Cheryl D.

Yelp
So this place, The Map Room, serves "off the charts" amazing burgers. The server was quite knowledgeable and friendly and the ambiance is....worldly map filled cool. The fries, cooked in a fries only dedicated fryer are killer crispy and delicious as well. The Marrakesh Burger is to die for as is the Melbourne. Don't be afraid to try a unique combo of burger toppings and you won't be disappointed . Consider pickled beets, pineapple , an egg, chili aoli sauce or hummus, goat cheese, and more. Crazy good combinations. , Lion bridge local whit beer was very good. We're so glad to have found this gem. I highly recommend The Map Room.

Yelp
Ordered food at the bar with a direct line of sight into the kitchen. The Chef is sweating, wearing sweat pants, repeating picking up his phone, itching himself while touching all the food with his bare hands in a dirty kitchen. This place is a walking health code violation- paid for the food I didn't eat and walked.
google avatar

Danielle R.

Yelp
The food was delish ... the fries and burger hit the spot. The mocktail was amazing (since I was there during the workday) but the service will make me come back!
google avatar

Kayla M.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVED this place. Not only is the atmosphere great, with a bar atmosphere with cute decor, the food was great. They had a good selection of drinks (though I just enjoyed a coors light). Started off with the fries flight which was so fun and delicious, my favorite sauce was the Bulgogi Aioli. Then enjoyed the Springfield Burger and upgraded the side salad to the Tokyo. All were incredible. Would definitely come back to this place, they have a cute outdoor area too. The service was fast and extremely kind.

Deanna H.

Yelp
The food and service are outstanding. Have the Montreal fries and the LB John'sGrocery next generation white ale. Porch Life is a great cocktail

Yelp
My husband and I found this place by accident when we were looking for a different bar. We never found that place but we did find the Map Room. Glad we did! The Map Room is low key bar and restaurant in downtown Cedar Rapids. It's small, dimly lit, and intimate inside. Perfect place to grab a nightcap. The bartender was welcoming and friendly. They had a nice drink menu with reasonable prices (around $10 each) especially for a downtown area. I went with a Negroni and my husband had a painkiller. Both were potent drinks. We split an order of the curry paneer naan bread. If you're a curry fan this is definitely a must try. It was a spicy and a little overwhelming if you're not a curry lover but it was good. We chatted with a gentleman at the bar who was a regular and said this is a great place for burgers too.
google avatar

Don J.

Yelp
5 for the double cheesebuger! The Springfield is the best cheeseburger in CRapids-Iowa City area. Fries are also some of the best, a clean and crisp fry which is hard to come by anymore. Love this little place downtown.
google avatar

Shannon M.

Yelp
The fries were delish! The salads filling and the burgers top notch! Staff were super friendly too! There are fun maps all around the room that are great conversation pieces! It was not super loud. This place is a hidden gem for sure!

Yelp
I was in town for work and tried the Map Room for an early dinner. I was nervous to get the Seoul Burger but was so glad I did. It was delicious! The meat, the sauce, the kimchi....it worked, and was mouthwateringly good. I got a side salad, and the house made ranch dressing was top notch. The atmosphere was nice, the waiter was friendly, and the food came out quickly. Highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Gulden Draak on Tap! That's enough for 5 Stars by itself! But Wait, There's More! - I snagged a seat at the bar and the guy behind it was great! - Burgers are their specialty - but my Reuben was just as delicious! - They're also known for their fries, but their specialty salad was even better! - Cocktails are also a marque offering. Next Time! Background - I'm staying the night in CR after returning from Iowa's Homecoming win at Kinnick Stadium. One Yelp search later, plus Google Maps, and here I am! - The Map Room building is small and indoor table seating is limited. And as my bar keep mentioned, they're really not built for large groups. But for little old me, I really enjoyed this space.
google avatar

Cathy C.

Yelp
Small place so you may have to wait for a table/booth when busy. Interesting menu with different flavor profiles you can try over fries, as a sandwich or as a burger topping. I had the Lima burger and it was excellent. The aji amarillo sauce was fresh and just spicy enough. I opted for a cup of the Italian soup and it was very tasty- I would order that on its own anytime.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in Cedar Rapids for the night & we were happy we stopped at The Map Room. Tried one of their $5 Bloody Mary's which was so good!! The bartender, Caleb was very personable and had great conversations. The old fashioned flight was super tasty and the food was excellent! If we're back in Cedar Rapids we'd definitely stop back in for a bite & libation!
google avatar

Yelp
Just had a great lunch here. Ambiance is really nice; cozy and well decorated. Has the best service and granted it wasn't busy but our waiter was so enjoyable and so god at his job. My husband and I each had pork sandwiches; mine was the memphis and his was the busan. Both were solid. My side was Montreal fries which were good and he had the Santa Fe fries. Again both were good. We definitely will stop again when driving through Iowa.
google avatar

Yelp
What a great little find if you're looking for an honest to goodness gem without all the fancy stuff. There's a very cool vibe here with maps on the walls and a very diverse offering of taste profiles. Love french fries? I highly recommend you try one of the many options that are available. We had the Milwaukee Fries that were a-mazing! Bourbon Beer cheese and crumbly bacon pieces smothered over slender, perfectly made fries. If you can't decide which hamburger combo to try (I couldn't), check out the BYO Burger (Build Your Own). Choose the type bread, protein, veggies and sauces (I had sourdough with one beef patty, Pepper Jack, bacon and French-fried onions, tomato, pickle, lettuce smothered in 1000-Island dressing). Yum! Our waitress was great and answered all our questions. I also enjoyed the sign on the bathroom door (see photo). The prices were very reasonable and the food quality was point on. A must try.

Yelp
I really enjoyed Map Room! Visited on a weeknight and it was an unseasonably warm day so I made a beeline to the outdoor patio. It was quiet so there were plenty of seats, but I assume this spot can get very busy. The server was really nice and helpful. I wasn't rushed at all and had all of my menu questions answered. The burger I had was delicious - it was a make your own with blue cheese, bacon and French fried onions. A side of goat cheese aioli was the perfect add on as well. Small but good quality wine list (and plenty of beers and cocktails to suit anyone's tastes) rounded out the menu. Reasonable prices and a cute outdoor atmosphere (and cosy seating inside) make this a good spot but the food makes it great. I've had a lot of burgers - all over the US - and this burger rivals any I've had. Delicious!

Yelp
The service is very friendly and helpful Courtney was our bar/waitress/host and she is awesome. Great small bar feel. The burgers are amazing and the fires and sides are great! Pittsburgh salad was accurate as well with a pile of fries on top. This is a great spot anytime of the day....
google avatar

Casandra R.

Yelp
SO GOOD! It was a number of different flavors packed in one burger...I got the SAIGON & my husband got the Memphis! Try this place while in Cedar Rapids, the decor was so cute & quaint, pub like feel!

Shelly Loves to L.

Yelp
Delicious food. Great service. Really great beer. We really enjoyed the flight of dips for the French fries as well as the mezzah platter.
google avatar

Kristian A.

Yelp
Awesome place with a ton of unique maps collected from all over. Very limited seating but had great drinks and food. Highly recommend the banana nut old fashion and anything with that bourbon cheese. I made my own burger but everyone else I was with got burgers on the menu and they were all delicious. For a starter we got the Milwaukee fries and they were amazing! Services was very attentive and patient.
google avatar

Yelp
Food! Was going to have the same thing but waitrer mentioned special and I was soooo happy! The menu isn't changing so ask about specials and try them out! Amazing! Bloody Mary's- I consider myself a Bloody Snob and I would say they have the best I've tasted in Cedar Rapids! Waiter was personable and just plain awesome!! Only sad thing... no more wheat berry salad

Jenny W.

Yelp
The Med appetizer was lovely-veggie balls and hummus and gluten free. The veggie burger is homemade and tasty. My husband enjoyed his Winter Spice Old Fashioned. Small space, and some people were turned away from eating there.

Matthew D.

Yelp
Fast service, good drinks and reasonable price! Nice outside patio. Waiter was super nice and polite.

Yelp
It's a cool little hole in the wall that sits 30 people max. The services was prompt. But the staff was louder then the customers. Talking loud and goofing around. The food was okay It was not great. The drinks were good they had a full bar. Servers were friendly . We tried the medderteranin plater as an appetizer. It was a mess 3 over cooked falafel balls . A smear of humus and beans with a little cheese and some raw baby tomatoes for 18 dollars. I tried the Cuban sandwich it was decent the fries were realy good. My wife had the Pittsburg salad. It was another miss. Over all decent place to hang out . But over priced for what you get. It's a buger and sandwich shop with a good drink menu .the out side patio is super chill. The server on the patio was amazing . Quick service very accommodating. She bumped it up from 2 stars to 3 stars .

Brian V.

Yelp
Its small, and normally couple minute wait for table, but great food and staff. priced right, worth the wait. I'ts clean and I eat ther couple times a month.

Yelp
Four if stopped in for lunch while on road trip. Everyone was very happy with their sandwiches and burgers They have a great variety of sandwiches, burgers and salads. The staff was very friendly. The drinks menu looked fabulous-which we could have partook. What a great local spot.

Olivia W.

Yelp
The appetizers were good but the service was very suspicious. My friends and I are all 22 years old, turning 23 this year, and the waiter inspected our IDs for a total of 2 minutes for only 3 IDs. It felt very targeted and the rest of our time spent there, the waiter was very short with us. Overall experience was not great. On another note, the fries flight was delicious.
