"Located in the historic Marcus Whitman Hotel, the Marc is serving farm-fresh dishes and craft cocktails in their beautifully reimagined space. After undergoing a stunning remodel in early 2024, the restaurant now has a warm, inviting cafe as well as a separate high-end dining room and bar for indulging. Seared scallops with fennel puree and beurre blanc, buttermilk-cured half-chicken, lamb loin with spring veg, and a superb wine list keep the Marc both contemporary and iconic." - Stephanie Forrer

The Seared Scallops were amazing—served in a puree of fennel, thinly sliced radish, citrus beurre blanc and toasted hazelnut. I had the freakishly delicious Buttermilk Cured Chicken and the Pesto Agnolotti at our table and Lamb were big hits too!

Google
The restaurant area is absolutely stunning! The server we had was really sweet & extremely attentive to all our needs. She had answers to all our foodie questions & made sure we enjoyed our food! The fries were some of the best fries i’ve had & their focaccia was absolutely incredible! The dessert was freshly baked & beautifully plated! Would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a beautiful & delicious date night!

Enjoyed and shared small plates and desserts. Never in my life, have I had onion rings that were so delicious. Lightest, crispy, thin coating. Josh gave the best customer service. Personable, yet professional. Rare these days. Bravo Vineyard Lounge!

The Food is superbly exquisite as is the motel lobby. It has been retained in most it's glory of the original wood working which was built in the 1920's. The craftsman ship, the huge open lobby is like a trip to the past of high class elegance. I am in love with this place. The service is as professional and charming as the building its self. Thank you to the owner who decided to keep history intact with a slight modern twist.

It was a busy night and our waitress was obviously working solo. But we were patient and all of our courses were very well made with excellent ingredients, from the delicious scampi and onion roll, to the burrata tomato salad. My pasta with pinnoli, fresh corn and exceptional mushrooms was very tasty and my husband's pork chop was cooked to perfection!

Google
Quite easily one of the finest dining experiences I've ever had. Our wait staff were kind and accommodating. The food presentation and taste were both out of this world. We ended up going back the next night since the menu looked better than close by offerings. We both tried new flavor combinations which made the experience even more exciting. I highly recommend this place, and would drive up just for the dinner alone. Props to the Marc staff and thank you for an amazing experience.

Google
The service is top class while the food is prepared perfectly and well-presented. While I wanted the grilled pork chop, the smoked pork shank was the special of the day. The waitress spoke so highly of it, I could not resist and the dish did not disappoint. The flavor was all the way through to the bone. The french onion soup is a favorite and it was very decadent. Finishing with a snickerdoodle cookie was a great choice. It was a little undercooked so it tasted like warm cookie dough which matched well with the vanilla ice cream. Walla Walla has several choices but this restaurant offers some of the best fine dining anywhere.

Google
A cozy fancy dine in restaurant. My cedar plank salmon was amazing and I have tried lots of salmon from different restaurants. This one definitely is my favorite. I mean look how cute the plate was! Hubby said his burger was delicious. But not his fries. The cheese board was interesting. I'm not a cheese fan but it would pry be delicious if I was.

Albert K.

Yelp
The food was delicious as it was well prepared. The presentation was as expected from a restaurant wishing to appeal to a certain segment of the dining public. Our waitress was attentive and personable. I was amused by the perception of wait staff that they had to explain that utensils would be replaced with each course Definitely worth the drive to and from the Tri-Cities

Myra M.

Yelp
Long wait to be recognized. The desired scallops dinner was "unavailable " but no substitute was offered. The salad and roasted halibut was ordered and we wanted to share. However, the 2 plates to be used as sharing were not appropriate, too small of plates, an embarrassment. Then we waited, waited, too long... For our bill. ??! Short staff? The food was delicious, too bad the staff couldn't deliver the service we needed.

Constructive C.

Yelp
Nicely done remodel of this icon in Walla Walla. Our drinks were great as we started the evening with cocktails at the bar. We moved to the dining room which has a really pretty display of wine. Our food was not only beautiful, but delicious too and our server was very friendly and attentive.

Jess C.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the server was good. Came here to celebrate my birthday. I would agree with other reviews that it is lackluster. It was a cute place to celebrate, no complaints about the food or drinks.

Ashley G.

Yelp
Went there for dinner last night and it was lackluster at best. My partner got a steak he couldn't finish because it was stringy and fatty -- couldn't get a good bite and it was a tenderloin. This was after his meal came 10 minutes after everyone else's. Then this morning we got scrambles which were tiny(half of our plates were empty) and sadly they were runny and inedible. Kitchen no bueno. Service okay.

Maureen H.

Yelp
Went here for after dinner drinks and dessert as a group of six. Simple drinks were fine (ranch water, vodka/soda), aperil spritzer was ridiculously sweet sent it back and the second one came back exactly the same. Old fashioned was extremely sweet. Ordered the cobbler (blackberry). Cobbler was a bit sweet. The worst was it must have had dark blue food coloring as those who tried it had stained teeth and tongue turned navy blue. No thanks, not again!

Greg P.

Yelp
The food and service were excellent. I did feel that the lighting for this type of restaurant was too bright. I suggest dimming the lights a bit to create better ambiance and less cafeteria style lighting. Otherwise, everything was fantastic!

Bonnie G.

Yelp
We had a relaxed and lovely meal. We shared the ahi nachos and while a little messy they were delicious and it was a generous portion. Loved the crunchy wontons as the base. My other and I shared the beet and arugula salad, which the kitchen split for us. It was bright and tasty, though a touch over dressed. We also shared the special strip steak with a reduction sauce and truffle. We loved the sides of broccolini and mashed potatoes (and I don't usually eat mashed, but these were really well seasoned and I couldn't keep my fork out of them). The garlic knots and lavash are irresistible. We shared some salted caramel ice cream for dessert, a perfect ending. All the dinners we had in Walla Walla were great, and ending with this one, in the beautiful historic hotel, was lovely.

karen d.

Yelp
I was so surprised how really good the food was! From the salad to the main courses, we ate in the bar which was fine but it was the young girl who waited on us who made it more enjoyable. Between food and service it was fabulous!

tommy g.

Yelp
This review is based on the food delivered to our table not the innocent servers who do their best to compensate for the menu deception. We ordered the Burrata salad which is shown on the website as a full ball of burrata cheese. What arrived was a flat section of cheese that didn't even resemble burrata much less taste like it. What a bad joke! Our main dish of a half chicken was just a boneless portion of chicken breast. At best it was a quarter chicken, but no leg, wing, bones on back of a chicken. Totally misrepresented on the menu. Our Mellon salad was smothered in balsamic. Do not waste you time or money by eating here.

Kiara R.

Yelp
This is a great place to eat inside the Marcus Whitman hotel. The food was really good except onion soup I ordered was over cheesed and I couldn't finish it. But the flavors were there. Our server was amazing, very nice, attentive, well put together and personable! Its been a while since I went and not sure when I'll visit again. Wasn't sure if you could just visit without staying at the hotel.

David C.

Yelp
Gone down hill...new owners. Dirty rooms last time here in spring but thought the eats would still be good. Nope. Big company . Cut out the love of food.

Sarah D.

Yelp
The food was delicious. Our server, Noah, was knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu and even knew what ingredients were used in the dishes. Noah went out of his way to make our experience at the Marc one to remember.

Paul N.

Yelp
Good food at a reasonable price and the service was excellent. Casual environment makes it easy.

Larry G.

Yelp
Chef's table experience definition of perfection, again. Made or semi annual pilgrimage to Walla Walla and once again was fortunate to book the Chef's Table experience. The overall experience was outstanding, a top 10 all-time dinner to me for sure. What makes this even more impressive is the consistency, time after time, over several years. First some kudos to the team, restaurant GM Dan McCaffrey gets it in every way. His style is just perfect for the team - they have fun our creative and so professional. Plus he makes a really mean tableside sorbet with liquid nitrogen. Executive Chef Grant Hinderlighter is talented, personable and very creative. Always comes up with new treats. The servers are outstanding as well, my bad for not mentioning them individually. The food itself was absolutely delicious and artistically plated. The pics will speak for themselves. If you find yourself going to Walla Walla, book a Chef's Table experience as early as possible. It is not to be missed and usually sold out

Mike J.

Yelp
I had the Italian Sausage Bolognese and it was excellent! My wife ordered a pork chop which she allowed me to taste and we agreed it was by far the best we had ever tasted. Tender, juicy, seasoned and cooked to perfection! I will be back for a pork chop! The Marc is a part of the gorgeous Marcus Whitman Hotel and is in itself beautiful with a quiet peaceful atmosphere. Our waitress, Victoria was polite, friendly, helpful, and very attentive. Our beverages never ran out. Thank you Victoria!!!

Ken N.

Yelp
No vegetarian option! It's like going back in time 40 years. Loud, stuffy ambiance I'll pass next time Staff was very nice

Serena T.

Yelp
I was trying to book Chef's table for degustation menu before we got there. The instructions are not clear on the website, so I just booked for 2. To my surprise, when we got there, we were told that we have to call someone in specific for chef's table and that we have only booked a normal table for 2! Huge disappointment. Hubby ordered hamburger and I ordered halibut with risotto and boy, the food was so bad and greasy! So greasy in fact, that my husband took the patty out of the burger and just ate that! The place looked old and out of touch! I just wish we could get out of there! I did not enjoy the food much! Maybe the chef's table is better.

Carolyn G.

Yelp
We've eaten here a handful of times. The first was 4-5 years ago and the food was delicious. My husband and I ordered a blue cheese wedge salad to share as a starter. It was good and the was ok to share. Fast forward to fall 2020 and we again ordered a blue cheese wedge salad. When it came out we were shocked. The "wedge" was romaine lettuce, only about an inch wide, if that, and only about 3 layers of lettuce. We should have sent it back. For $12 it was ridiculous. For a dollar more ($13) down the street at Walla Walla Steak Company/Crossbuck Brewing you can get a blue cheese wedge salad big enough that it can be shared as a starter or as a meal on it's own. In all fairness to The Marc, the other food we've had is delicious. The salmon and risotto was great, the butternut soup was to die for and the hamburgers are very good.

Alixandra S.

Yelp
Stopped in during a slow night and had a great meal. We had an issue with one of the foods in the special and the manager was extremely kind and took it back and brought us a dessert as a thank you for saying something. Great staff, great menu, will dine in again for sure.

Sidney P.

Yelp
We have eaten at The Marc many times -- both in their dining room, and in their wine bar. We have always found the food to be exceptionally well prepared, with a nice menu selection, wonderful local ingredients and a stellar wine selection. We had dinner there again last Friday night. It was the first night the restaurant was open, after the COVID mess. They were so attentive and helpful and the food was absolutely divine, especially after weeks of cooking at home and awful take-out. We loved everything about our meal and will be back the next time we travel to W2.

Dave E.

Yelp
My wife had the burger and I had the sliders. My wife told me the burger tasted only like garlic, so I tried it and it was brutal. There was so much garlic you couldn't taste the bacon! We both really like garlic, so trust me when I say it was a garlic bomb and inedible. The sliders were the opposite. Not a lot of flavor at all. Everything was cooked well, but the flavors needed an overhaul.

Kelly C.

Yelp
We have stayed at the Marcus Whitman in the past but have not eaten at The Marc until this weekend. The food was wonderful and the service was great! We celebrated my graduation and brought our own bottle of wine. The staff surprised us with free dessert to go along with our celebration! We will be back to enjoy the nice atmosphere in this historic setting.

Jeff A.

Yelp
Second visit to charming Walla Walla, and like the first time, opted to visit this restaurant tucked inside the historic and charming Whitman Hotel. The welcome and service was cheerful and friendly as the first time. We had a starter of Caesar salad served with proper anchovies and both our thick and juicy rib eyes were served perfectly. The decor isn't elegantly over powering, perhaps many would find it outdated, but that's part of the charm. The place is perhaps one of the more expensive places in town but on a good night, with extremely friendly service, well prepared meals, and throw in free electric charging outside the hotel, The Marc hits the spot and we'll continue to visit.

John D.

Yelp
I don't have a negative word to say. The waitress was great. Food is absolutely fire. The chef cane out and personally spoke with us. Highly recommend it.

Tara S.

Yelp
Food? Amazing! Server & hostess? Wonderful. Rude manager named Dan? THE WORST. My group of girlfriends came to town for the weekend and wanted to try the pre fix at The Marc. We made a reservation for 6 people at 5:30. We show up at 5:30 and the person who took down the reservation wrote the name incorrectly. But there was only one reservation for 6 person tasting at that time. You would think No big deal right? WRONG. Dan was rude and almost denied our reservation because their people took our name down wrong. The entire dining room was completely empty. To make matters worse, the hostess gave us the name written for the reservation to see if it was something close. Dan took issue with this and verbally berated the hostess when she was just trying to help the guests. Our entire party has worked in service and we have never seen such poor management skills and an unnecessary power trip over his female subordinates. After we were finally seated we got to experience a great meal while watching the dining room stay nearly empty for another 2 hours. So why the power trip Dan? Also thanks for never checking in on us after we watched you go to every other table to ensure they were having a good experience. But shout out to Alyssa and Marki for being absolutely wonderful. Dan, you were trash. #dontbeadan

Jill T.

Yelp
Unfortunately not a great experience. We were celebrating a birthday and anniversary and really had high hopes for a special meal out. I ordered the asparagus and Brie soup as my starter and it was quite bland. Adding salt and pepper helped but only marginally. My halibut special was fine, although the risotto that accompanied it was dry and also not flavorful enough. The prime rib (also a special) was truly inedible. It arrived dry, and was extremely tough. Even with a steak knife we had to saw through to get a slice. To be fair, our server did take the prime rib off the check, and also one glass of wine, but what should have been a lovely meal was very sub par. Disappointed. Show less

Morgan R.

Yelp
Rude! Shockingly disturbing service. Rude service. Staff was leaving their shift and didn't want to serve us due to us not staying at their hotel.

David L.

Yelp
I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday and participated in their "Chefs Table" which was the most memorable and enjoyable dining experience we've had! The food, wine and service was first class! I'd highlight this experience and we'll definitely be back!

Jeff S.

Yelp
Very nice looking place. Just eat anywhere else first. Had the 48 dollar ribeye.... flavorless. Mushrooms appetizer bland. Wedge salad was a 2 on a 10 scale. The service?? Horrible. Any taco joint would have been better.

Amy Z.

Yelp
Wow, a great meal here at the Marc. This was our best dining experience of our trip. We had a private room and service was a little slow for our big group but our waiter was friendly and trying to do his best with such a large party. We had a pre fix menu but it was all great. We started with an amuse buche, I can't even remember to be honest, it was a cheese with a sweet jam/sauce and a mint oil I believe. It was a nice way to start the evening, could have been a little larger, was a bit small for an amuse. Our starter was a mixed green salad with pickled yellow beets, candied walnuts and apples with an acidic and slightly sweet dressing, it was a refreshing start to the meal. For our main I had a 12 oz ribeye, medium rare, with whole grain mustard Brussel sprouts, carrot purée, and Spaetzel. The steak was great, charred and perfectly seasoned on the outside and tender on the inside. I liked that in contrast with the sweet smooth carrot purée and the earthy roasted Brussel sprouts. The only flaw on the plate was the Spaetzel, it was dry and chewy, not tender or moist. But all in all the dish was great. Everyone else in our group also loved their stuffed sole and the rack of lamb. To finish we had a cranberry apple crumble. It was good, sweet and slightly acidic with a crunchy crumble on top. All in all a great experience, would eat here again. Oh and the Hot and Healthy complimentary breakfast with the hotel is AWESOME. Cheesy scrambled eggs, orange and vanilla scented French toast, bacon, delicious sausage, biscuits and gravy, amazing crispy roasted potatoes, oatmeal, fruit, monkey bread and so much more!!!!

Megan G.

Yelp
After leaving Crossbuck Brewery because of a bad experience the Marc welcomed us in. The burger is perfect and they have wonderful drinks to go with the food. All of the staff was so friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. They even let us go back into the kitchen to see the chefs table! The food and service were amazing and we can't wait to go back!

Paul H.

Yelp
My wife and I were in Walla Walla for a weekend of wine tasting and decided to give history a try. This is a beautiful old restaurant in the oldest hotel in town. It was supposed to be one of the best restaurants in town as well. The food was good but not GREAT. The service was great. Would I go back. Maybe. So many chiefs in town now making their mark on town with modern culinary ethos I might just pass on this. The history and service make it a must do one time.

David R.

Yelp
Wow! Get the "Amuse for the Evening" course meal with the wine pairings! The whole experience was enhanced by our knowledgeable waiter, Matt. He took the time to explain each course in detail, along with describing each paired wine. The chef did a five star job presenting each beautifully. Great for a special occasion. We were a group of four. All had an outstanding time! Thanks to the management team for creating a memorable experience!

Steve B.

Yelp
They blew us away. The service was impeccable and the food was great. My steak was a bit under-cooked, but always better that way than over cooked. I could have sent it back, but still enjoyed it nonetheless. My wife ordered the halibut special and absolutely loved it. The house red blend was excellent! We also stayed at the hotel and did their breakfast, which was probably the best hotel breakfast buffet we have every experienced. Everything was wonderful and the servers were so hospitable. This place could give lessons on how to run a restaurant!

Hungry K.

Yelp
Had dinner at The Marc for an early Valentines dinner. We were very surprised to find the dining room almost completely empty when we arrived. The service was very prompt and stellar. We started with a mimosa and a cocktail called the erase/rewind. Both were great and substantial in size. We then had the bread basket. The garlic knots were to die for. I ordered the sliders and my boyfriend ordered the burger. The burger, fries and garlic sauce were amazing, by far the best burger either of us have had in a long time. The burger was well cooked, tasty bacon, sweet onions and crispy lettuce. The sliders were a bit lacking in overall flavor, but the crispy onions and adding the garlic sauce made them decent. The Parmesan fries that came with the burgers were phenomenal. We ended the night with the vanilla bean creme brûlée. It was perfect, a HUGE portion that we shared. Overall it was a perfect night out. I would highly recommend for anyone visiting walla walla to check out The Marc. We will for sure be back. They did have a few specials they were running as well, we didn't order either of them because we are not seafood fans but the pricing and options were great.

Mike B.

Yelp
Food and service are both trying hard. Not enough servers and food is biased to being overly-rich. Price point, like everything in Walla Walla, is high. Nice atmosphere and good selection. Not at all a bad place, just clearly needing more hands on deck.

Jim W.

Yelp
We ignored the negative reviews as we were staying at the Marcus Whitman hotel but wish we had dined elsewhere. I was hoping to enjoy a glass of Leonetti Merlot with my meal but was informed by our waitress that they would be out of the wine "permanently"? My wife got the New York strip which was riddled with gristle and flavorless. The carrots were significantly undercooked. I got the burger and it was just ok. It's too bad because the restaurant does reflect on the hotel which we've enjoyed so far. I rarely leave reviews, positive or negative, so take this for what it's worth. Maybe a better dining experience elsewhere?

Meghan F.

Yelp
My husband and I had a great meal here. The restaurant did a great job with distancing the tables out for covid - and the staff wore masks and disinfected the tables. We loved the cheese board and crab dip appetizers--they were huge! And the burger was as amazing as everybody is raving about. Our waitress Alyssa was perfectly attentive, and the bar tender, Mark, made amazing cocktails. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Tracy B.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed the 5 course Chef's Tasting menu. Dan called is advance to ask about our preferences and any food allergies. Each dish was presented beautifully and the chef came by to explain what we were about to eat. We opted out of the wine pairing beside we had been wine tasting during the day so we just ordered a few drinks and focused on the food. Well worth the money!

Barrett D.

Yelp
Not sure where to start. Table of 8 that ordered a variety off the menu. Beet salad was the smallest portion I have ever seen, taste was avg at best. Terrible for what you pay. Several grilled beechum cheese sandwiches. Boring white bread the was soggy and cold. Soup was lukewarm and very small portion. Lobster roll was a joke, came on a bun large enough to feed 4 but a spoon full of lobster. All 8 agreed it was a terrible meal. It not that hard to make a good salad , sandwich and soup. Chef and mgmt should be ashamed!

Shane S.

Yelp
We had the best time and the best dining experience at The Chefs Table Experience. I could go on and on but you really need to experience this to fully take in how great it is.

Mike M.

Yelp
Where to begin! From the tapas to the cocktails everything was amazing! Me and Tarah, the ol ball and chain, came down to enjoy Walla Walla this past weekend. Won't be the last time, I'll tell ya that much.Power Trip Dan

Roxann S.

Yelp
Excellent service and fantastic prime rib and scallops. Affordable excellence!!! Manager Dan McCaffrey and staff did not disappoint, thank you, we're definitely be back soon!

Maria B.

Yelp
We stayed at the Marcus Whitman hotel and decided to stop by for happy hour on a Friday evening. Great drinks and delicious appetizers. Our service on the patio was A+, too. Can't wait to come back the next time we are in town!

Brigitte W.

Yelp
Enjoy the ambiance of the bar during happy hour! Brisket over dark salad greens (instead of having it served as a burger) paired with their house red (all their wines are beautiful). Great food presentation and BEST brisket I've had in a long time! Brined, rubbed and prepared by a true foodie!

Hannah R.

Yelp
An amazing time! We did the chefs table and it was amazing! The wine pairing with the food was amazing! They definitely spoil you during this! We drank, ate, and learned so much! Would do it again in a heart beat!

Manny L.

Yelp
We had dinner last night at the Chefs Table at the Marc, totally unbelievable. We had our dinner paired with wines from local Walla Walla wineries, perfectly paired. I highly recommend doing this for any special occasion or if you just to spoil yourself. Do it!

Brandon D.

Yelp
Our experience at The Marc Restaurant was great. The staff was knowledgeable and the steaks that we got were cooked perfectly. They had a kids menu that was reasonably priced with quality food. Great wine list as well.
