The Market Bar Restaurant

Went with a colleague and shared wonderful dishes between us as tapas. Pretty full for a Tuesday night too which made the place feel alive and vibrant. Subdued lighting too to make the place feel initimate and personal. Ordered wayyy too much food in the end but all of it was excellcent quality.

Intersting place where you can go for drinks, mexican food or just for a party. We visited it by accident and it was a good surprise. Highly recommend the draft beer.

Food was decent nothing special at all. I definitely wouldn’t go back or recommend and they kept getting our order wrong. I’d also like to add pulled pork Arancini is awful!! It doesn’t taste like there’s any meat in there just bland mash.

The food is really good, nice and fresh and generous portion sizes for tapas. A good selection too. Dinner meal can be 2 mains, 1 side and a desert for €45 per person and it’s a really good deal and plenty of food! Staff are friendly. Such a nice space with a chilled happy vibe I highly recommend

Nice place, not a lot of vegan options and a bit pricey for what you get. It’s a good option if you want a drink with something on the side to nibble on.

We had an amazing Sunday brunch with a group of 15, and the service was exceptional. Two of my friends follow a gluten-free and vegetarian diet, and we were pleased to find plenty of options for those with dietary restrictions. For groups of eight or more, the restaurant typically offers a group menu. However, since it was a quiet day, I spoke with the manager in advance when making our reservation, and they were happy to accommodate our request for an à la carte menu to cater to specific dietary needs. Our group enjoyed both the set dinner menu and the group menu, both of which were absolutely worth the price. The food was delicious, well-portioned, and satisfying. A special thanks to Zeha, who took great care of us during our visit. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I highly recommend this restaurant!

We came to Market Bar with a group and tried a little bit of everything, which was perfect for the space. The vibe is cool, the service kept things moving, and it's a great spot for sharing plates. The standout for me was the patatas bravas. My favorite thing we ordered and it was crispy, flavorful, and the kind of dish you keep reaching for. Overall, fun atmosphere and great for groups. The food hits best when you share a mix.

Loved the meal deal option here. Not sure if they still do their happy hour, but that was an incredible deal when we did it a couple years ago too. Loved all the dishes and each of us paid about €35. The service was incredible, we had excellent servers check on is the right amount. The seating and the interior was wonderful too, all wood and stone.

Perfect place to share small plates with friends in Dublin! It was so cute! So bright and industrial feeling but it still felt very refined! The tapas was great! We got mixed salad, iberaco, olives and pork and it was so good! The flavors were all like explosions in your mouth! The wine selection was great and the service was friendly!

This is such a cool spot you walk down a little alley and it's a hidden gem at the end! The retiring is clean, bright, and full of energy! The wait staff all has fun patterned matching shirts. I'm unsure about how service in Ireland is at restaurants but all our food and drinks arrived at different times. We started eating before we got our Coca-Cola. That being said the service was still extremely fast I swear my potato's were at the table within 1-2 minutes of ordering and all the other food arrived very shortly after so I'm not upset that the food was delivered separately. The food itself was AMAZING. This place really cares about dietary preference and has even most of the menu labeled. There are vegetarian and vegan options clearly and easily labeled. The staff even asks about allergies before placing your order which is so amazing ! I would definitely come back!

I really enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant! The inside is beautiful and huge. The food came out fast and is soo much food. I enjoyed the food it could have been better but was good. I think for the price you pay it is definitely worth it! I really liked the dip that came with the bread. Service was attentive.

The beer and the Scotch eggs aren't bad either. Service is always good and they know how to draw a proper beer. It's also a very cozy spot in the fall/winter as they have an outdoor fire place.

This is a large, well designed restaurant specializing in tapas. For 30 Euros you get two tapas, and unlimited potatoes.

Food was really good. Service was a 2/10; our server was effective, but not hospitable at all. We were waiting tens of minutes for our food and none of it came at once. We had individuals done with their meal while others were just getting served. I understand that it's tapas, but that just feels like a cope for not being able to time their service correctly. Music was good as well. Cool place, good food, bad service.

The food was incredible - you just have to order the right thing. The prawn dish (gambas pil pil), breads & dips and unlimited patatas bravas were INCREDIBLE. I also had an amazing glass of red wine. The place is a really cool space too. Meatballs were mid. Don't get the nachos.

The service at the bar market is great and very speedy! The food is pretty good, the shrimp was good and so was the wings! Though watch out, if you're not careful they'll switch your chicken skewers with vegetable skewers! The restaurant itself is a little loud but very nice inside! I would recommend this restaurant to adults who are grabbing an meal before a fancy event. Thank you The Market Bar!

You can do better there are so many great places to eat in Dublin! We were really disappointed with this restaurant - for being recognized so highly this place let us down. The food was truly terrible and the drinks were average. The only good thing about the place was the waiter who was very nice and apologetic - however we still paid 42 euro for garbage! The salad was soaking wet to the point that we couldn't eat it (we were still charged for it). The calamari was raw inside, barely cooked and soaked in grease... such a bad fry job surprising in a country that does great fish and chips. It's really hard to screw up calamari but it was so bad! I wanted to like this place so much as it came highly recommended but it was really really horrible. Don't eat here there are so many other good places to eat in Dublin you can do better!

This place is super cute, casual and yummy! Tapas style, and right next to an outdoor market and an arcade. Potatoes with tomato and yogurt were sooo good, and not heavy or greasy. Fish skewers were delicious, chili and garlic shrimp were great but the calamari was just okay. Garlic bread is better with cheese and the service wasn't great by any means.

This is more of a local place. In the 1700s this place was an actual market, hence the brick walls inside. It is a lively place, super busy so you may have to get your drinks at the bar then wait for the staff to come around and get your food order. It is best to order more food all at once, since they are super busy and the servers may not come around for a while. It is a tapas type place, but very large portions. For a group of 4-6 people get the small version of the dishes/tapas you choose since they are very generous. I am recommending, the charcuterie platter, they have a great goat and a blue cheese that are amazing. Also get the garlic potatoes, calamari, seafood skewered are great and fresh, sticky wings are very tasty. The red wines are great so is the beer and the prices are very reasonable.

Really love the food and ambience. It's such a nice place with high ceilings and spacious seating areas. Seems to have been done up since I was there last. I always enjoyed the food here and the standards haven't dropped. As we were a group we had a sharing menu and for 17 each it really was excellent value. Everyone was Totally full and loved pretty much all the options. The best option was the potato bravas and the fish skewers. Deserves top billing as the service is really good too and fast!

It's a No from me kids! I somehow seem to have had the exact opposite experience to other people in the Market Bar. The setting is only gawjus I'll admit that. But after that, well it pretty much falls down everywhere. Main points being food and service. (there's not much else left when you take those two away really is there?!) We were in on a Sunday for the brunch menu which is pretty average. Not a massive selection and all stodgy enough. Brunch has been stepped up a serious notch in recent times in Dublin, so if you're not gonna keep up, you're gonna get left by the wayside. There were three dishes on our table. One was actually very good (though hard not to do well), two were terrible. The first good one was the nachos grande. It is indeed massive. Loads of all the usual suspects piled massively high. All tasty, piping hot and plentiful. Just what you want. The second lot, not so much. First there was the chicken quesadillas that were so tasteless I may as well have been eating my napkin. No spice, no flavour, no crunch. Even the melted cheese, which is normally a favourite food staple of mine, was like tasteless goo. No flavour whatsoever. Then the eggs Benedict came out. Two eggs plonked on their muffins with a pile of greasy rashers next to them. There was hollandaise alright, but where was the presentation, ,the important visual bit that makes you wanna eat? A medley of insipid colours all looking so sad to be plonked on the plate together. The service was ssoooooo slloowwww. We had one waitress serving our table who actually was really lovely, but she seemed under pressure and the place potentially was understaffed. We sat at the end of our meal for a good half an hour with all the plates in front of us having never been cleared. Same problem with trying to get the bill, it took an age. It's a shame, but I think this place needs a bit of a re-haul to keep up with the big players in town these days.

Just like in London and Paris on this whirlwind trip I planned an UYE to meet up with some Dublin Yelpers, and the place picked was Market Bar, and I have to be honest I was pretty excited to check this place out, it used to be an old shoe factory and they paid tribute to that and have lots of shoe molds in the wall, that was pretty cool. Also Market Bar severs Irish style tapas. Yum! I was a few minutes late, I went to the wrong spot, but quickly made my way to the correct location and their I meet up with Lisa and her sister Sabrina, they were a fun bunch! Welcomed us to Dublin and gave us tips. Market Bar is huge, and I didn't find the noise level any higher that a typical bar, we were able to carry on a conversation, our sever was sweet, and had nice eyes :). After a few minutes of trying to figure out what beer to order I went with a nice glass of Smithwick's beer, I also learned that you pounce it Smithick's the w is silent, good to know now when I order it in the states I'll be ordering like a pro! I also wanted to check out what a Irish style tapa so checked out the menu and went with Patatas Bravas let me tell you about this, deep fried potatoes (like chunky potatoes) covered in a spicy tomato sauce & a garlic mayo, Holy Cow Bat Man, these are some great potatoes! So so good! So happy to had made to Market Bar on my trip to Dublin and look forward to coming back and trying out more of the menu.

Part of the original building which houses the George's St Arcade, the Market Bar is a wonderfully large redbrick building consisting of many barrel vaulted roofs. The large open plan is quite different to most bars in Dublin and the decor is minimal yet quirky - check out the wooden clogs and shoes displayed on a wall at the end of the bar! Part of the ground floor is a tapas restaurant with exceptionally good tapas. Get the patatas brava - No seriously do. Other items on the menu worth trying are their freshly baked break selection (the tapenades are wonderful), the deep fried calamari and the meatballs. From about 21:00 onwards, the dinner crowds will fade away and the bar is hopping for the night. Unfortunately the open plan means the sound of the crowd travels across the entire bar, so once it gets busy it can be hard to hear your companions. The bar is well stocked and I'm fairly sure they have a small cocktail menu, as well as the usual selection of beers on tap, and a few weisse beers such as Erdinger and Hoegaarden. It's worth getting their early for dinner and a few quiet drinks, if you're interested in avoiding the noise of the large crowds.

Food was top notch. good size portions for Tapas. Great staff and service also Built in Service charge was a bit off putting, I like to tip but was weird when seeing it on the bill included in the price of the meal

The market bar or Morket Bor,depending on how posh you are, is a relatively recent addition to the Dublin pub scene. One of its features is a lack of any background music. At first it seemed weird but works really well. The pub is a huge redbrick man room with a mezzanine bar above, food-wise its mostly tapas, which are tasty and well prepared. The restaurant part of the bar is down at the back of the main room and has slightly different hours. Theres also a mezzanine bar upstairs which is probably better for eating and can be booked for groups and events. One of its best features is a huge outdoor smoking area with heaters. A bit like the Odeon, the market bar can feel a bit empty if its not busy but the place is frequently packed and one of Dublin's better places for a night out.

Came here for lunch and got a soup and sandwich special costing around €8. I dig the interior, it's a massive open space with lots of seating available. It's certainly an experience but at lunch-time it felt a bit too empty and sparse and lacked any real atmosphere. I could imagine this place being a lot better at night when it's presumably more busy. The staff were friendly and the service was prompt. The food was average with it not being much better than your standard carvery food. Maybe it was the items that I ordered but there was zero room for anything to shine here. I was pretty disappointed because it certainly looked appetising. I'm curious to see if the food & atmosphere at night can elevate this place to beyond just averageness but I'm not in a rush to test this out.

The staff were pleasant, the surroundings are great and the nachos and salads were good. Even so, I was really disappointed over all by my most recent visit. Some of the food we got was below mediocre. A couple of the dishes were drowned in mayonnaise and the calamari was under cooked and rubbery. While the calamari was removed from the bill, it shouldn't have been put on the table in the first place.

The Market Bar is one of my favourite places to eat in Dublin - the tapas are the best you will find around. I love coming here on a date night, or with a big group of friends - it works particularly well in a group setting as they do large dishes and small dishes of each of their yummy tapas. You absolutely have to have the patatas bravas - they're the staple of any tapas menu - and I love their meatballs, calamari and chicken salad. Oh and the nachos too! I pretty much love all their menu! The large dishes are around €12 and the small ones about €8 - for a group of 4/6 people you'd need maybe 2 big ones and maybe 3 small. Which works out nice and cheap!

'Doesn't this place just feel like a market to you? Can't you just see the horses?' Ok, so I have some strange friends. But when Brian introduced me to the Market Bar, he was very eager to set the scene for me. Stopping just short of making the obligatory neighing sounds, he instructed me to shut my eyes and proceeded to embark upon a detailed description of the possible earlier uses of this airy (and yes Brian) very market-like restaurant/bar space. I must say I was quite impressed with the cavernous ceilings and spatial arrangements of the enormous building that comprises the Market Bar. It is a very cool place to pop into for a drink or a round of tapas. If you're there on a Summer evening the lighting is deliberately low, allowing the late sunsets and long evenings to cast a glow over the main part of the bar. I applaud the Market Bar for designing the space to make the most of the natural light - looks great, and is even better for the environment :-) The service is brisk and brusque, but that's not why people frequent this establishment. Definitely recommended for a drink or two (or for the entire evening if you wish.) Just keep an eye out for the horses...

After having patatas bravas in a famous Irish pub near Pheonix Park (you know which one I'm talking about), I have to give kudos to the Market Bar for doing it right. It's such a simple recipe, but apparently some pubs get it wrong. Market Bar gets the award for best patatas bravas in Dublin. Congratulations, you merit an extra star for that.

5 stars go to the food here which I simply adore. I've tried many of the dishes here and always leave pleased and full. My favourite is the rocket and chorizo salad closely followed by the bravas patatas with garlic. 5 stars go to the staff; last day I was served by a lady who checked we were happy with our food, drink and even apologised when one cocktail came in a short glass rather than the long glass she thought it came in 5 stars go to the cocktails which were made upstairs in the cocktail bar and personally delivered by the barman that made them. I can't remember the names of the cocktails I got but they were really really good.

When I'm the mood for tapas I rarely go to the market bar anymore, as I think there are better tapas places around dublin, but I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed my meal last night. Probably because I was absolutely starving and I could have eaten a horse by the time dinner arrived to our table. We shared the meatballs with bravas (yummie!), a piri piri chicken salad (which was too oily ), garlic bread and peppers stuffed with couscous and goats cheese (also good but quite a small portion) What I did not like was the service. In fairness our waiter was super friendly. But it was so hard to get his attention, the poor fella was running around like mad serving loads of tables. I definitely think they could put a bit more waiting staff. Also I still had a bit of wine, but while I bend down to grab my bag, and looked up again, my glass had already been taken away. Not okay! Noise levels are extremely high, we had to shout over the table to make ourselves heard. It's one of those places which is great to go to with larger groups, but not so much for an intimate dinner.

Tapas bar with nice "raciones" mid-size-plates for sharing. Very nice Sangria and of course good Guiness.. Beautiful place with nice atmosphere and kind staff. It was not very busy when I went ( Friday & Sunday) so it was not needed to book. Meatballs and Srimps were the 2 best for me.. my friends loved calamari more.. good place for lunch.

Ahhhh Market Bar, one of Dublin's most popular tapas bars! I love the layout, a big open space filled with tables upon tables. The place is always busy and with the amount of people this place holds there's always a great atmosphere... I suppose the name suits it perfectly in this regard as it has that lively, market vibe! The food here is really good quality and the portion sizes are decent. The large dishes are really big, and great value at 12 euro, so just be aware of this if you are ordering a few different dishes. Their sun-dried tomato and almond pesto is amazing so I would definitely recommend the bread with dips to start. Other dishes I would recommend are the patatas bravas, the meatballs (which are served with potatoes), the chicken and chorizo skewers and the nachos. One criticism I have is that on Saturday night we were told we could only have the table for an hour and a half-quite abruptly by our server- which kind of defeats the whole purpose of tapas, sitting ordering small dishes one or two at a time over a few drinks. Another small drawback for me is the lack of paella...in a tapas restaurant...whaaaaatt?

After two weeks of traveling through Europe and dealing with European service at restaurants, it sure was nice to come to a place like this. Service was quick, friendly, efficient. The food was out in no time and was totally delicious. Great atmosphere here. I love the big open space. If I had more time in Dublin I'd definitely be back.

I went there for lunch it was not busy. Their average food is well presented, it's expensive, the menu is designed in a way that prevents you from ordering a light lunch. There is some variety on the menu and options for vegans and vegetarians. The service has to be experienced to be believed. You basically have to get down on your hands and knees to get the attention of the staff. Unless everywhere else around is packed I would avoid this place like the plague.

Wonderful interior that is a cross between a Victorian era train enclosure and the film spot in Glasgow, I forget the name of it but it's a converted old world film area. Tapas is the menu choice. You can decide to dine properly or just stay in the bar area and eat more casually. The divide between both is a case of white table clothes. The artichokes and Spanish meats were so tasty and the right amount of saltiness and bitterness. Meatballs are another great option and excellent value. Bar-staff are very friendly and they have Caledonia on tap, a new Scottish ale (new for Ireland) and the bartender happily gave me a sample before deciding to buy. It was really tasty and smooth. Acoustics of the space can be very noisy as it fills up very quick which leads me to the next important point, get there early especially on the weekends.

I've never eaten here but have come for drinks. The space is lofty and lovely! The downstairs area is spacious and trendy, feeling kind of like a fancy warehouse, and the upstairs is smaller but similarly well decorated. There wasn't too much space upstairs, so we stood around the bar. They have a great cocktail menu, but the prices are what you'd expect from that area- about 10 euro each. I ordered a martini (forget the name) and some kind of drink with raspberries. The martini was good, but the raspberry drink was too sweet. My friends also complained about the sweetness of their drinks. If you're paying those prices, you expect quality! Nice to see the actual setting, but probably won't return.

This is my family's go-to place when visiting Dublin. We came here for my mam's graduation, my graduation, our cousinly-Christmas catch-up and many an old school friend reunion. My mam frequents this place for the early-bird menu almost every time she hits the city. She tries to convince them to give her a starter and a dessert instead of two starters and she often gets away with it. The last time however, they didn't allow it so she took the second starter home in a doggy-bag. Gotta love the Irish mammy mentality. The Market Bar is a big, bright, high-ceilinged warehouse (will it put you off if I tell you that it used to be a pig abattoir?) I've spent many a meal-time staring at the unusual clog-adorned wall or at the stiletto-clad females carefully maneuvering their way around the grates in the floor (which were once used to drain blood). Still didn't put me off me grub. They serve a wide variety of beers and wines and the tapas are delicious. I've had the patatas bravas, meatballs, fish pie, piri piri chicken salad, olives, and lentil and chorizo soup. No word could better describe the food here than 'yum'. The starter portion is filling enough so no need to splurge your cash on a main.

I've been here loads of times in the evening, but yesterday was the first time I went here for lunch... when I say lunch I think it was 3pm, but you know what I mean. It came as a bit of a surprise because I kind of associate this place with the sweaty, over-crowded, can't get to the bar, drunken haze that occurs at around 1am on a weekend night. It was a bit of a revelation to be here in the afternoon. A friend pointed out that there was always people here with babies whenever she was in during the day, and I can see why - it's light and airy and has plenty of room for buggies beside tables. Anyway we had lunch and the four of us ordered 3 large tapas and some drinks and set down to some serious inter-bridal-shopping scoffing. And it was good! A nice quiet place for us to chat and prepare for our next shopping visit, accompanied with delicious tapas. mmmmm

The Market Bar is a great place for a relaxed meal (tapas) and some decent wine or beer, particularly if you like to be able to hear your companions speaking. There's no music played so even though the ceilings are high and the floors are tiled all you get is a gentle buzz from the other patrons and the pleasure of a conversation with your mates. The patas bravas are consistently good and so is the calamari with chilli mayonnaise. The staff are nice and the prices are reasonable. Three small tapas plates and a bottle of red came to about €50 between two recently. The display of shoes on the wall is an unusual touch.

If you're looking for an all-rounder with a bit of atmosphere, head to The Market Bar. The building used to be a shoe factory and some of the old lasts line the northern wall. It's a cavernous space that easily swallows big groups. The wooden floorboards look great, but can be echoey - when it's full of people this place buzzes - a lot of my friends say it's too loud. There's tapas or more traditional meal style plates, passable cocktails, and a wine list that has been put together by somebody that drinks wine. Service is sharpish, prices less so.

This is a neat little spot I like to go. I think one of the reasons I like it, is that it almost seems hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Georges St. The inside of this restaurant is gorgeous and spacious. Just as a warning, it can get busy, especially during the dinner and late rush on Friday and Saturday evenings. I've been there numerous times. The cured meats and selections of cheese are a great appetizer to start with. Of the various things I've tried off the menu, I've never had anything there that I didn't like. If you smoke, they do have an upstairs smoking area that is indoors, but I've never spent time up there since I don't smoke. If you go during the very busy times (friday and saturday evenings) it can get pretty loud. Just as a tip: if you do go while it's busy, you will need to walk around and find a table to take, there's not much of a properly functioning wait list provided by the staff there. Also, they do a deal where you can order two tapas and a glass of wine or beer at a deal (unfortunately I don't remember the deal off the top of my head)

If you are looking for a good lunch deal in the Dublin 2 area, then this is a good spot. They do a yummy soup, sandwich and patatas combo, with a little salad, all for €8.50. The bar itself is large and open with a decent seating capacity, so you won't be queuing for a seat. To top it off, it's in a very central location, close to Grafton street, and the staff are friendly and professional.

Basic, but tasty tapas in a great venue. Had been a few times before for a drink or two (had always been a bit put off by the seemingly high food prices), but nipped in to try the early bird deal the other night (two tapas dishes and a glass of wine for 14e if you get in there before 7pm) and was pleasantly surprised. Haven't found Dublin's tapas-scene to be too high-quality over the past few years i've been here, but I think Market Bar's offerings are at the top end of what the city has to offer. Meatballs were brilliant with a tasty kick to them, patas bravas not too oily and came with incredibly moreish garlic sauce and the chicken and chorizo skewers were cooked perfectly. Got charged a couple of quid for a little basket of poor standard white bread, which I was a bit miffed about, and the wine (house wine...mysteriously not on the menu??) wasn't great but other than that we had no complaints. As for portion size - we got more than enough food for 14e each. Market Bar is always buzzing it seems (it was rammed at 6pm on a tuesday evening), but because of the high vaulted ceilings and the lack of piped music it manages to maintain a good atmosphere - you can hear yourself think, which is a plus in my book. Definitely recommend checking it out.

The Market Bar on Fade St is hidden behind a small entrance. Spare me a "fade" joke now but once you step in, you find yourself in a spacious former market hall with brick walls, high ceilings, and some interesting glass roof construction that enlights the hall with sun or evening light. It's kinda sad that the interior is the most remarkable thing to say about this place. The Market Bar could well be situated in London, San Francisco, or New York - nothing really that distinguishes the hall from similar places in hip cities far away. If you are looking for an Irish experience, search elsewhere! Good for drinks and snacks (different opinions about the food in further Yelp reviews) but really, exchangebable.

Their dishes come in two sizes Big or Small. Big would do most people to keep them going for a few hours (like any dinner) or , if your are in before 7, two smalls would get you well stuffed until lunchtime tomorrow. Currently, before 7 you can get 2 smalls and a glass of wine (or half pint) for €14. Now tell me where you will get that sort of deal in Dublin? Plan to get there before 7 and be there until 9:30 as you and your party pick from each others bowls enjoying all the different tastes. +1 to Conall with his suggestion on Patatas Brava - that should be one of your smalls. Staff are helpful and friendly. Good selection of beers and wines. Only negative is the 12.5% added on if you have more than 6 in your group at any time during the evening. This can sting if you order wine and beers off the waiter. If you are thinking of going for a few drinks on a Sat night (9pm onwards).... be prepared to fight for a seat and a table. To say it was 'jammers' is possibly an understatement. They even had the upstairs open for the restaurant.

I'm not reviewing this place as a restaurant, but rather as a bar. I've met friends in this spot on quite a few occasions, here's what I think: 1. Location The thing I found fascinating about going here first is that it wasn't where I expected it to be... I know how that sounds strange, but hear me out. It's on fade street, it's a side street off Georges Street. To be honest, it's not a street on be on very often. That said, it's a lovely little place tucked away in it's own little alcove. It might sound lame, but when you walk in, you can't help but feel like you're going somewhere that's secret. Seating in the smoking area is quite simple. Tables for the drinks, chairs for sitting. Benches on the sides of the area for those who aren't too fond of tables. What more can I say? 2. Atmosphere: It's got a great atmosphere. However, in my own experience, I have found that the clientele keep themselves to themselves. By that, I mean that you do get the impression that you're encroaching on someone's territory at times. That said, when you're with a group of your friends you're not overly worried about that sort of thing. It's a fairly laidback place and certainly a little bit more upmarket than most spots in the area. As my Dad would put it, "You need to shine your shoes and button your shirt for this place!" 3. Drink It's the kind of place where you'd have a couple of drinks and a good aul' natter. The drinks are well poured and at a decent enough price. How do I say this without sounding completely unsophisticated? If you're objective is to fling as much alcohol in the general direction of your face in as quick a time as possible, this isn't the place for it. Overall: Good atmosphere, good prices, good drinks... Good all 'round!

I only came her for a drink, so I can only comment on the environment and service. Great, lively open-area seating with community tables and high, industrial ceilings - and old market, of course. The dishes being brought out looked good as I passed on my way up to the drinks-only bar upstairs. Upstairs is a more intimate, cozier setting with large couches and random home furniture for groups to lounge in while sipping cocktails. Although it too has great energy, it's much quieter and calmer than the restaurant below. Good service. Great people watching. Should I find myself back in Dublin, I'd definitely go back to try the food, whether for dinner or brunch.

Trust me to be the one led here by an American tourist who had never set foot in the city before. He was dead smug about it too. It was OK though because he was a friend of mine and - armed with his little Lonely Planet guide - set out to show me the hidden gems of my own damn city. This place was one of them. Great location just off the Georges St Arcade and has a nice airy feel to it when you walk in. The high ceilinged hall it's housed in lets in plenty of light and is never too hot or cold. Food was great and very reasonable for four people. The staff were friendly and even put up with my tactless American friend and his slightly sexist comments which makes them a certain kind of hero.

Was in the Market Bar recently on a Sunday night with a big group for dinner and it was excellent....we got one of those big long tables where you can literally sink back into the benches and just sort of lounge. The tapas style went big with everyone and the service was efficient and polite. Try the potatoes and meatballs as sort of the "base" for your tapas selection and build from there... If you are just heading here to get a bite to eat - go on a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday night when it is generally calm and quiet (you can actually hear your neighbors talking to you without much of an effort). It can get packed and very loud on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays when the place is much more of a drinking hang-out. (But a great one at that!) Certainly one of the more unique gathering spots in Dublin.

A cool and versatile place, good to have some dinner with a group of friends. There's a plenty of room so it can accommodate a lot of people and many groups at a given time, but exactly for that reason it can also get too noisy and busy. On the more quiet times, people with small children and prams choose to come here because it's spacious enough for them. There's also a bar upstairs and some tables and barrels outside by the big entry gate, where you can enjoy a drink and smoke. The food consists of a basic tapas menu and popular snacks - patatas bravas, nachos, albondigas, cheese boards, that kind of stuff -, so chances are there will be something in there that'll suit everyone's taste if no one is too picky or has dietary restrictions. The service varies a lot, from profissional and nice to rushed and brusk, but it's nothing too out of the ordinary. They'll only book tables for large groups - more than 15 people, I believe - and they have a set price menu for that type of occasions, which can be useful.

I have no idea why this place has so many good reviews. I have been here so many times over the years [not of my choosing] and each time I leave feeling pissed off that I was ripped off by mediocre over priced food. My last trip here was a couple of weeks back. I came with my friend for food and drinks as it was close and we needed somewhere quick. We ordered a few bits to share. A meat and cheese platter thing - bad quality. SWIMMING in olive oil. Patatas Bravas - not bad but Jesus Tap Dancing Christ where do these people get off charging a small fortune for deep fried potatoes and garlic mayonnaise. Bread and Dips - The bread was STALE! The dips were atrocious. I am Irish so of course I don't complain. I wait until I leave and complain to everyone else and then write a review about my experience on Yelp. I did however complain about the bread. The server and kitchen staff should be aware how stale the bread is and should not be serving it to people. When I did complain to the server he went over to the kitchen. Mentioned it to the kitchen person. We could see both of them laughing [quite possibly about something else but still really unprofessional to be doing this in clear view of us]. The kitchen person opened a big tubaware dish and took out some new bread and swapped it over. The server came back and gave us the bread. No major apology, nothing. Typical of this type of bar with food in rip off Dublin. They think they can get away with MURDER when it comes to service and quality and idiots like myself and my friend then pay over the top prices for shite. Bread shouild be freshly cut if you are serving it like they do. Not pre packed in a plastic container probably from hours before or most likely given how stale it was, the day before. I will probably be dragged here again at some stage because I will be going with the crowd but I will be eating before I do elsewhere.

(far from 'cozy') *Mediocre Eats (if you want well-made Spanish tapas this is a weaker attempt, although the chorizo and feta salad is pretty tasty) This is ultimately a big bar offering 'bar food' and that's exactly what you get.
